Visited after my partner took part in the London to Brighton bike ride.needed something before driving back , so I'm glad we did as due to traffic congestion took longer than it should. Anyway, the Restaurant Review : The food was delicious, I have a dairy intolerance and the waited checked what I'd asked for was safe , the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. Really, it is worth a visit if you like good food , a lovely atmosphere and great service !!! 10/10.

Proper authentic Italian food in the centre of Brighton. Great food, great setting, great service. Everything was perfect. Francesco who served us was great. Enjoyed chatting and sharing stories with him about our roots in Italy. Will go again when we return to Brighton.

First time back at Al Duomo after many years. We are highly impressed!! The menu is varied and extremely reasonably priced. Francesco our waiter was on hand to recommend dishes and a wonderful wine. From the Haddock croquette and meatballs to crab tortellini and lemon sole the whole meal was excellent. The Sicilian lemon cheesecake was absolutely lovely! Portions here are generous so make sure you're hungry! Thank you Francesco and team for a wonderful meal, we will be back!

We had a great night here. They managed to fit 7 of us in for dinner on short notice. Food was fab and our waiter was a lovely young man who ensured we had everything we needed. Great spot for a good food with a good atmosphere.

Moved from Italy to the U.K 8 years ago and this was the most authentic italian food i've had, the seafood so fresh. Amazing service from ALL the staff on the floor, so kind and friendly. We were served by Julie and Francesco but needless to stay we received a warm welcome from everyone. All who visit Brighton should come here. Thank you for the best experience

What a lovely restaurant. I went with my children as we were staying locally. The service was friendly and welcoming. The portions were huge. I’d ordered a starter as a main and was surprised at how big it was. The food was tasty and hot. We really enjoyed our visit and would certainly visit again.

Be sure to try the seafood pizza... chewy dough and fresh cheese... it's so delicious, the price is reasonable, and they're friendly!!

We were looked after by the staff and manager, cannot fault the service or food a very relaxing 3 course meal was had by our large party, nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend and will be going back.

A lovely family meal and huge portions, and pet friendly (not a given in Brighton)!

Don't visit brighton much and not been to the restaurant since pre covid when we thought it was absolutely fab. Was disappointed it was closed last time we went and so pleased open again. Still wonderful just seemingly like the town itself it seems much quieter despite the holiday season so a little less atmosphere. Also dog friendly so great for us.

Haven’t eaten here for a while and think the menu has considerably changed. I used to enjoy some of the filled pasta options which are no longer available. I did however enjoy the chicken I ordered.

Fantastic food and excellent service. My friend has coeliac and there was barely anything that she could choose on the menu just one main and one dessert which is a real pity as the menu is extensive

My wife and I came here for our Anniversary dinner and we were amazed with how friendly the staff were when we booked (especially as it was last minute). Francesco was our server and really knew a lot about the food and how it was all home made. The food was beautiful and easily the best Italian I have had. 10/10!!!

Love this place! Staff are fabulous, restaurant is lovely ( although we sat outside) and food we found was top notch ! Portions are very generous - if we’d known we would have shared fewer starters between us - we were stuffed after 2 courses! Also they are dog friendly which meant we could bring our pooch along too 🐶Very happy and will definitely return.

Soggy tasteless pizza, ok service, overcharged aswell, much better Italian restaurants in Brighton with better cocktails too, shall not be returning

We enjoyed every aspect of this meal. The cocktails were made fresh; the pasta was homemade along with our desert! 10/10 all round!

Very friendly and welcoming team, excellent service and fantastic food, hearty portions and exquisite Italian cuisine. The secret to Iatalian food in my view is less ingredients but all good or best quality and the knowledge of how to balance a dish, these guys pull that off and the experince and taste is very good! Not the cheapest menu but excellent value given the taste and quality of the food.

food is quite good but not outstanding. Pizza was nice but better pizza's elsewhere. My wife had Ragu which was ok. Service is good...but note they charge 12.5% service charge automatically which i thought was a bit cheeky ...even if you only order drinks.

My thanks to Freya who served my wife and I today, given our 38th year anniversary. Given the wonderful weather in Brighton, our appetite sought the cold mezz starter. A wonderful selection of meats, cheeses, olives, fresh fruit and breads. This was for 2, but could have easily been for 4 persons. Wine selection was spot on. The atmosphere was great, extremely bright and cheerful, very clean premises. Top marks from us. Will be back! Pizzas, pasta seen being served will be on our list next time. Pasta, ice cream etc made on site. Highly recommended.

The food here was delicious - really authentic, homemade italian food. They have so much variety on the menu, with italian classics as well as more uncommon options. Highly recommend the parmigiana starter and the diavola pizza, both superb. The staff were friendly and helpful, even recommending how best to heat up our leftovers when we got home. Al fresco dining was also a lovely experience and it's a great location in Brighton.

We booked Al Duomo for 20 people as a private party on the mezzanine for the evening before our Wedding last weekend! It was THE PERFECT evening, and everyone couldn't speak highly enough about the food, service and atmosphere. The team were so accommodating, and even put a big balloon up with a celebratory message for us. A few guests said it was the best Italian food they've eaten outside of Italy!!! Portions were generous, food was fresh and delicious, and the drinks were plentiful! THANK YOU to everyone who made our evening so special.

And for the second time I go to this pizza restaurant because I like the atmosphere with the Italian songs, and the food that respects the original Italian recipe. A big thanks.

Nice restaurant that makes you feel like you are in Italy even if you are in England. Nice environment with the addition of typical Italian songs. The service is to be desired since it took them 15 minutes for a portion of fried potatoes (I would also like to add that I had to repeat the order several times since a waitress almost denigrated me and didn't even give me time to finish ordering ). There is a wide variety of Italian dishes (including vegetarian and vegan options). The restaurant also includes a decent variety of wines. The way the dishes are prepared leaves something to be desired. I ordered a carbonara which smelled of eggs and was faded (instead it should be yellow) from this I can assume that the egg was cooked and cream was used. I also ordered a panna cotta that tasted a little like panna cotta, which had a blackberry coulis that tasted like blackberries and water. Too bad about the service and the dishes because essentially it is a nice restaurant.

Very speedy service and amazing food

Recommended by family member. Good welcome, good advice on food and drink choices. Food plentiful and very fresh. The porchetta was delicious. Flatbread Fiorucci was tasty...the Verdure Grigliati was a great option instead of salad. Thank you to Francesco and the team.

I will never set foot in this place again. After having lived in Italy for over 25 years, I really wanted a decent pizza. I actually went there over 3 times. The pizza was heavy, cheese laden and not as described on the menu. I actually heard 2 Italians discussing the place and they said the pizza was horrible and the pizza maker was not able to make a decent pizza and I agree. As you go into the restaurant you'll see a very unpleasant woman sitting at a table....I don't know what her job is, but she's horrible. When I asked to use the toilet, she said it was for disabled people only, but I AM disabled and have serious continence problems. Every time I've been there they've asked me to use the downstairs toilets, which I can't use as I can't walk back up the stairs. I'm thinking great location, looks great but in this case it's the typical case of 'bella figura' - looks great, but just doesn't deliver. Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, you can't get a decent pizza anywhere in Brighton.

The staff, especially Marco, the manager, along with Francesco and Rihanna, were incredibly attentive. Marco’s leadership and personal touch truly stood out, as he went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our meal. Now, onto the food – simply put, it was spectacular. Each dish was a perfect blend of authentic Italian flavors and innovative twists that showcased the chef's creativity and passion. The ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. Particular highlights included the deliciously crispy calamari fritti. Perfectly golden and tender, the calamari was accompanied by a rich and flavorful homemade tartare sauce that complemented the dish beautifully. Furthermore, the panna cotta was the perfect heavenly sweet ending to a delightful meal. Every bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to excellence. Overall, Al Duomo exceeded all expectations with its amazing food and outstanding service. Marco’s exceptional management, combined with the team's dedication, made for an unforgettable dining experience. It’s a place where you can truly taste the love and care that goes into every dish. I can't wait to return and savor more of their delectable offerings.

The food is delicious and the service is great. I was very pleased to find very good deals with great food quality. The pasta I ate (Spaghetti Aglio, Olio & Peperoncino) was amazing and very fresh, which is something I find hard to find in Brighton. The appetisers were very tasty too! Marco was a great server and he was very nice to interact with. He was very funny and a great person to be around.

Service was horrendous. We were a party of 10 (5 adults, 5 kids). After waiting for over 20 minutes at our table, we had to ASK them to take our drink order! Bad service just continued throughout the entire meal. Food was okay. Some dishes were good, but three of us were not happy at all with our meal. Attitude from waitress when we mentioned the fries were undercooked and hard inside. Bill was VERY strange & difficult to understand.

We had lunch here sitting outside watching the world pass by. We were delighted to find our good friend Francesco is now working here. So lovely to catch up with him again! We’ve been coming to Al Duomo for years and there’s always something delicious for us, as vegetarians, to eat.

Lovely food, express lunch deal an absolute bargain. Friendly and attentive staff.

Lovely food, really friendly staff. Their Octopus dish and steak was divine. Plus, they are Wheelchair friendly, and they have a Disabled Wheelchair friendly toilet with grab rails etc.

Went for early evening supper, though the place was busy had no problem getting a table without pre booking. Service very quick once sat down. Mixed crowd on a Thursday evening, with families, couples, groups, celebration parties. Food was excellent for both my wife and I and very tasty.

Arrived late (couldn't book any earlier online) so was really empty which was a shame as I imagine the atmosphere would be great if busy. Very attentive service, lovely staff and the food was fab-we are vegan so had a flatbread with tomatoes, basil and onions, and the stuffed pasta with a creamy sauce and walnuts which was fantastic. The highlight was the cocktail - 'greyhound' with gin, aperol, grapefruit and rosemary syrup: very very good Would definitely recommend but book when it's busier for a better experience!

AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant We ate very well, the fish was delicious and cooked impeccably. Not to forget the Italian staff with whom it is always a pleasure to have a chat. We will return when we return to Brighton.

This place is ok. Whilst the staff were friendly but I had to ask 3 times for water. The food was average. Not sure I would go again.

My favorite restaurant. My friend and I went for lunch last week. We both had excellent meal's. We shared a starter of calamari. I had lemon sole with asparagus and my sister in law has risotto. We also shared a tiramisu. Everything was perfect even the wine. I can thoroughly recommend.

Went there to celebrate my sisters birthday. Had a great time, served by Lucia and she was great! Food was lovely. They even did my sister a little happy birthday song. Very sweet of the staff. Would reccomend for some great authentic Italian food!

I wanted to contact about our experience at your restaurant this evening. We chose to come after a very positive experience a few months back when we had lovely food and fantastic service by the young blond lady from Belfast. Luckily she was our waitress again and thing were going well to start with. We ordered 241 cocktails as it was 5.30, 2 pizzas, 1 chicken and 1 steak. During our meal, PJ came up and introduced himself as our server (not sure what happened to our lovely Belfast lady). Things went wrong from this point. The chips that came with the steak weren’t cooked so we’re sent back and sauté potatoes requested in place of them. The steak was almost finished by the time the potatoes arrived and no apology given for undercooked chips. Then at 6.45 we asked for the bill. This contained many mistakes. The 4 cocktails had been charged in full (£22 overcharge), 3 pizzas instead of 2 (£15 overcharge). The replacement potatoes were charged (overcharged £5). That’s was a £42 plus 12.5% overcharge. Quite significant. This took multiple attempts and until 7.20 to correct the bill. Our show started at 7.30. There was no apology for the overcharge, just PJ saying that he charged is in full for the cocktails as it was now 7.15! 🤷🏼‍♀️. When we said we had ordered them at 5.30, he said he would have to check. We were so unhappy with this we asked him to removed some of the service charge. We left £10. In hindsight we should have asked him to remove it all. We don’t go out that often and we extremely upset by our experience tonight.
