Albert's Schloss in Manchester

Just magnificent. It attracts the young and beautiful and the wealthy and you can see why: it's got everything you want from a night or afternoon out. It's massive and it was buzzing (too busy for my liking but that's me). The venue is astonishing; what a gorgeous building. Full marks.

We visited Albert Schloss for our works Christmas meal recently having booked in advance. When we arrived our table wasn't ready and we were urged to get a drink at the bar which at 3pm in the afternoon was so overcrowded it was ridiculous and inaccessible. Eventually we were seated right on the edge of an area of people standing and drinking right over our shoulders. The place was far too busy and overcrowded to a point where a number of us commented on what the safe capacity of the place actually was...as it had surely gone over that amount. The food was fine, nothing unbelievable, average but not bad value. Service from our waiter was very good and they also took the time to be very attentive to one of our diners who is coeliac. The toilets here are a disgrace. Obviously I can only speak for the mens but there isn't a tenth of the toilets required for the amount of people...one of the toilet bowls was overflowing with vomit... urine all over the floors, more what you would expect at 3am in a dingy club toilet, not a restaurant/bar in Manchester at 3pm. The amount of people probably ruined it in the end but the service and food were fine.

Really great venue! Good food, attentive staff and great atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Security guards need more training

Good place for drinks and bounce, but very busy over weekends. The only toilet available in the basement ( loads of stairs ) doesn't make it easier when you are tipsy.

Piss poor service again. One guy behind bar, week before Xmas. He eventually come round to our side. Doesn't even ask who is first. We had been there for 8mins. We hollered..it's us! He said, I'm working up the bar! Piss poor. Always is.

Excellent German style pub in the heart of Manchester. Great food menu.

Overall such an amazing place! It holds a special place in my heart as I usually go for special occasions plus it’s where me and my boyfriend had our first date! The staff are so so nice and the food/drinks are great! Can’t forget the live music/entertainment it is always full of fun and laughter! Always leaving satisfied ❤️ Highly recommend to anyone visiting Manchester and want a good nightout/lunch date spot.

Daniel at the bar was brilliant. During a busy time he kept really calm and friendly. Drinks were fabulous and spot on! Thanks Daniel!

Nice very large establishment great drinks good cocktails live music etc on Saturday when we visited, busy place

Ordered a dish without chives, arrived with chives. When I mentioned it they took it away and clearly just picked them off, some were still on it. The bacon was thick and rubbery and the croissant far too sweet to enjoy. Very expensive for what is a very disappointing meal.

Eaten here a few times this year when in Manchester, food and service has been excellent and didn’t disappoint on a recent visit with friends when it was a really busy Saturday in December. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Went for drinks and dancing - due to personal circumstances not a great night but the bartender (?Tara, girl with hair) was really attentive to notice. Her energy like showing off making drinks while keeping conversation in a loud bar changed my night completely and I had a good time 💕💕💕

Always enjoy the atmosphere here. It does get absolutely rammed some evenings but if you can get a seat, you could stay all night and have a great time.

Good vibe but the bodyguards are discriminative, they didn’t let me in, one of them said I was drunk even tho I didn’t any have drinks!! such a shame and disappointing.

Nice place, super busy, stood still for 2 minutes talking went to move and shoes were stuck to the floor!

Amazing evening for food and cocktails

Best bar and restaurant in Manchester by a mile. From a great selection of draft beers to outstanding food. Also a dog friendly location.

The food was really good and the portions were HUGE, plus the house beer was great too.

Disappointed on my latest visit. I did email them about my concerns but have had no response 😕 so I'll post my complaint on here. Dear Albert's Schloss Team, I am writing to express my disappointment following my visit to your Manchester venue on Sunday, 8th December. While I understand that pricing in city centre establishments can be higher than average, I found the price of £7.30 for a pint of Erdinger quite steep. However, my main concern lies with the handling of tipping at the bar. When I purchased my first pint, I was presented with the card terminal, which gave me the option to select a tip. I chose the 0% option, as tipping is not customary in pubs in England. For my subsequent purchases, however, the bar staff handed me the card terminal with a pre-selected tip already added, bringing the price of a pint to £7.80. I was not given the option to decide for myself, which I find underhanded and disappointing. This practice feels greedy and unprofessional, leaving me with a very negative impression of what is otherwise a reputable establishment. I would appreciate clarification on your tipping policies and an assurance that such practices are addressed to prevent similar experiences for other customers. Marian and Afi were the best you can get! The service was incredible. They lit up the room and ensured everyone was not only served but entertained. Their level of energy was electric and intirguing. Round of applause, alot more service staff should take note. Thanks for a great night!❤️

Don’t bother booking a table 14 in December, you’ll get sat in the middle of non diners who want to sit on your table! The staff will choose the table that spends the most, so unless you’re propping up the establishment your money isn’t worth anything! Please if you’re a bar don’t accept a booking of 14 in the middle of all the drinkers and then act nonchalantly when we complain Stacy from Stockport wants to dance on the table, I’m not annoyed I’m disappointed to better thank you 🫡

If you like to revisit your teenage experiences then this is the bar for you, but if you’re over 21, don’t go on a Saturday night and pay a premium for services they simply can’t provide.

Good vibes but overpriced, average food. If I was doing this review strictly on the food it would be 2 stars, but the place had a good atmosphere and was still pretty fun. Had the smorgasbord which came in at £30 per person including a small bottle of beer. Overall this was extremely disappointing and not good value for money at all. The chicken was bone dry and just tasted like bought in frozen chicken strips, the broccoli was pretty much raw and everything else was bang average at best. For £30 per person you would expect lots of high quality, freshly cooked dishes, but this was far from the reality. If you take away the large volume of bread based items, you're really not left with much...In my opinion the current offering should be more around the £20 mark. One other thing to note is that the music was way too loud and we really struggled to hear eachother! Overall I still enjoyed my visit but would not recommend anyone to come here for the food.

Great place and great atmosphere, drinks were a little expensive as expected but had a great time- however my experience got ruined by a very rude bouncer telling me that “you are a child” as a 22 year old woman and being repeatedly rude and throwing abuse at me when I did nothing wrong but try to get back in through the smoking area when another bouncer said he allowed it. Turning your back on someone who was speaking to you politely will always be rude, especially when you call them a child when they are on their own as a woman. I am then left to fend for myself as a woman with all of my friends inside- feeling unsafe and having to find my way home alone. I don’t appreciate being spoken to so rudely and I shall not be returning.

An absolute must, especially now that everything is decorated for Christmas - really great location with an open fire, large bar and dining area and lots of attention to detail; Germans in particular will have a lot to smile about here given the spellings on the cards and labels (mix of German and English...Germanisms), huge selection of German beers, great atmosphere...just great

What a strange way to run what could be a fantastic establishment. The venue itself is beautiful and the music was great, however they have decided to hire a mini Hitler to keep watch over the dance floor and stamp out any fun swiftly and effectively. This Penfold lookalike stands scowling at anyone remotely enjoying themselves, then pounces and throws people out every 2 minutes. Crimes she was targeting were talking too intensely to friends, dancing too figurously or having a slightly pissed look on your face. All of these behaviours will not be tolerated in this bar. If you want to feel like you are at a school disco with the head teacher keeping watch then this is the place for you. Sack the fun police before you have no business left.

Went after 12am on a weekend.. and atmosphere was totally buzzing with great crowd..music.. bit of dance.. a classic way to have a Saturday night

Very nice place to enjoy the evening, we had very tasty dinner for reasonable price, the staff is very friendly and helpful, very good service. Live music is very enjoyable and the atmosphere is great here. Definitely would come back

Booked a table for 6pm two months in advance to have an early Xmas meal with our daughter and best friends, which included a 7 year old. Booking was accepted and confirmed twice. When we arrived we were told to wait outside, then a doorman proceeded to say that as we had a minor we could only stay for a maximum of 1.5 hours. The reason he gave is because it is part of their licensing agreement with Manchester council - and yet other places serving good & drink allow minors up to 9pm???? Anyway, we accepted the terms and on entry was greeted by the most obnoxious maitre d’ who said it was all in the terms & conditions about age restrictions- I mean who reads the t&c’s when booking a table in a restaurant! It was super busy, loud and blaring music and not the festive atmosphere I was hoping for. It improved when the live entertainment came on, at least songs with words! What made this a 3 not 1 star review was the food. Everything was delicious and plentiful.As a group we had pasta, burger, pork buckle, turkey dinner and everyone loved what they had. The staff were just about hospitable, some looked cheesed off and gave bare minimum service. We managed to eat two course in our allotted time, we would have done a third but staff looking at their watch ready to pounce if we went over time was a bit off putting! If we were to go again it would be in the daytime when it looked cosy

Went here on Friday early evening, very busy but relieved when we got a table! Sat for about 45 mins until a reserved sign was put on it, moved to a table nearby when it became vacant, staff then said that was reserved too. Moved to sit on one of the benches, phew relief, a seat. Then again reserved sign put on it. Lovely place but drank up and left what a fiasco - seems crazy that you have a very busy pub which then empties because every table suddenly becomes reserved ..

I would give the rating a zero if possible! The bouncers are absolutely VILE here. The way an older man was intimating a young girl was extremely concerning and I can’t believe that’s tolerated by a female manager. It’s really scary that people like that are employed in your business.

Beware! They will turn old ladies (79) and children 11 & 12 away if your booking is anywhere near 19:00, due to licensing. No apology, just kept saying it was in the terms and conditions. Not made clear on the site at all and who reads the T&Cs when booking a table‽

I was turned away for the fact the doorman said I was too drunk, where my partner was fine. I don't understand the logic as I was just being friendly with the door man being from Newcastle it's annoying to be turned away for being myself

Pedí una mesa para dos y fuimos llevados a una mesa para 20 que decía reservado en ella. La reserva fue en 6 minutos, así que nos fuimos. La camarera había puesto los menús sobre la mesa y se había ido antes de que hubiéramos tenido la oportunidad de consultarlo. Toneladas de mesas más pequeñas que no tenían carteles reservados, así que no tenía mucho sentido. El personal parecía bastante arrogante. Es un lugar exitoso, pero a diferencia de la mayoría del personal, he estado vivo el tiempo suficiente para ver un buen número de restaurantes exitosos en Manchester morder el polvo porque se pusieron complacientes. Recuerdo cuando la gente solía hacer cola afuera, pero ahora parece que hay otros lugares donde esto sucede. ¡Cuidado Albert Schloss!

I believe it is better for an evening, but we had a Welsh waiter (I forgot his name) who made our lunch a very pleasant moment. Great service.

Waitress was extremely rude. I put my drink down on the table and she shouted at me as the table was reserved for another party. Really unnecessary.

Came here last night to celebrate a friend’s birthday and was quite looking forward to it as id never been. Well i think i never will return seeing as my partner who was absolutely no where near drunk was refused entry by a blondish middle aged doorman who told us he was too drunk! And Considering it was late and the place was heaving with people i cant imagine that there was not a single person in there who wasn't intoxicated. Clearly needed his power trip for the night, theres a reason middle aged men like that have only got as far in life to stopping people coming into buildings. Maybe he was annoyed at us for interrupting him chatting up the drunken women.. arghh life of a doorman. Apart from that, from the outside looking in it seems lovely 👍🏼

Tankovna Pilsner Urquell! I don’t think enough people in Manchester realise how fortunate we are to have this beer available here. Regarded by beer geeks as one of the world’s best beers. I recently visited the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzen and the beer in Albert’s Schloss just as good. If only it was 60 Czech crowns per pint. The place itself gets unbearably busy on a weekend, but it’s a must visit if you like Czech and German beer. Try and catch the happy hour times.

We went out to Albert Schloss on the 19th of November as a group. My friend, who had only had one pint at the time, was escorted out of the bar. When he asked what the reason behind this was, he was told “it would be explained when we’re outside.” He was then told that he was “too drunk” and had been “stumbling” around. My friend explained he had one pint and had a leg disability which caused his limp. This wasn’t listened to and he was refused reentry. My friend has contacted Albert Schloss and they have not responded. He is currently seeking legal advice due to the evident discrimination that he was subjected to.

Best Sunday lunch by a long long way

Superb place with a lovely atmosphere. However, the quality of the dishes is very average. Rather go there just for a drink/beer.

Never seen a Location like this...close my eyes 5 seconds and Security nearly killed me....I couldn't even drink my beer - in Germany we called it: "Saftladen"

We booked a table at Albert's Schloss to celebrate our civil partnership, hoping for a memorable end to our wedding day. Unfortunately, it turned into a distressing experience due to rude and dismissive security staff. I urge anyone planning a special event here to think twice.

Absolutely favourite night out! We travelled from Dublin for a night out in Manchester. One of the staff Mohammad Elyas he was an absolute gentleman!! 10/10 Brilliant music Atmosphere brill Would recommend to anyone

We needed a large hearty breakfast after a night on the pop and after considering a few options opted for Albert's Schloss. It was a good decision. The full breafast was £13 and was utterly fabulous. Generous portions, quality produce, and well executed. My wife had Eggs Benedict, but apparently, the eggs were a bit on the cold side. Other than that, I really rate this place and would definitely return and recommend it. Well done.

The waiter, the food, the live music and entertainment, just a great atmosphere were all complemented by the first-class service from the staff.

Great pub, but always very busy and it can take a while to get served. Book a booth for parties and you get table service.

Went for a night out, live music is entertaining, not really my thing but that’s personal preference. Main reason for 3 stars is because it’s completely packed, you can barely move and it makes ordering drinks a pain. Floor is sticky because you will probably spill your drinks trying to move away from the bar. Don’t think it attracts the best crowd either.

This place doesn’t even deserve a star! The bouncers left me on my own! Whole letting my boyfriend and his mate into to the bar accusing me of being too drunk when I have had 3 drinks discussing behaviour and laughing at me on my own luckily my boyfriend came back to me and left the place complaining only to be called and pathetic! Nasty bouncers but let people with coke around there nose in ! Very weird and I’m writing this classed too pissed ! Nasty people

Great bar, one of the best in Manchester

Myself and my friend came here last Friday night and were told we weren’t allowed in as we’d had too much to drink. This was not the case at all, and we did nothing to provoke this response from the bouncer. He was really rude to us, and we didn’t understand how when we were just stood there, he decided we’d had too much to drink ? When questioning him on this, he couldn’t give us a valid reason. Left really confused by it all to be honest

Had Lunch with my daughter on her 21st Birthday. An amazing experience. The staff were fantastic. The food was delicious. We had the best time ever, and it was not expensive. Can’t wait to visit again. Thank you so much. You made our day!

That was really fun. Such a buzzing place on a Monday night. But perhaps, because St Vincent were/was in town, just around the corner. Who I managed to see. Annie Clark. Just wow. Meantime, here, the food was really good, if you like the genre and style. Would definitely come back.

Great place for a beer but its so noisey in there you cant hear each other speak at times. Better during the week when the atmosphere is better.
