Alban Tandoori in St Albans

My family and I came here for the first time last Friday and were so impressed by this restaurant. We ordered a range of things from the menu and everything was excellent. The naan breads in particular were so soft and fresh. The staff were exceptional and very attentive to all our needs. We will certainly be back, thank you for having us!

On my fourth visit to The Alban, the staff were as friendly and as accommodating as ever. The food is always delicious and tastes fresh. Would definitely recommend and will be back again soon.

A fabulous evening . Really welcoming family . No time limit (we had previously booked another Indian restaurant and realised we had to be out in just over an hour !!!) so we cancelled and booked the Alban . How glad we did !! Very tasty food . My sister and I fancied chicken saag which wasn’t on the menu but that wasn’t a problem the chef cooked it for us ! They really wanted us there for the evening . Very friendly . Would thoroughly recommend!

Always go to The Alban when working in St Albans. It’s by far the best in town and I’ve sampled them all. Food is consistently excellent and the service great from a clearly ran family business. Try the Bombay blast, it’s fantastic. Always made to feel very welcome when returning.

Best Indian restaurant in St Albans. We always feel so welcomed when we go and are always given a fantastic meal which is great value for money. They take allergies really seriously and have plenty of vegan options. I particularly recommend the Red Fort which is an outstanding gingery chicken dish. Plus, Kingfisher on draft!

The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. Ordered the lamb shank, which fell off the bone and was very tasty. Definitely would visit again.

It's become my go-to for satisfying my Indian food cravings, and I'm always excited for my next meal from them.

Love this littel gem always a lovely meal hear family business and always remembers my name. Witch is amazing 👏 forgot to say they have a fan base with us there's normally round 6 or 7 of us go now. And I've never heard anyone complain.

Decided to have an indian after some training and we needed some good food and we were not disappointed. Would highly recommend and would say one of the nicest and certainly cleanest restaurants around town. Very tasty fresh food. Love the warm plates and great service as well as the obligatory trolley. Don’t walk past, go in and try!! Sorry no pics as are the food to quickly.

Tried this restaurant for the first time last night and we couldn’t be happier with the choice. The food was outstanding, the lamb shank in particular was extraordinary. The service was truly brilliant as well, they gave some great recommendations and I already can’t wait to go back.

What a find! We booked this restaurant as it was near our Air B&B, but this is no ordinary Indian restaurant. I have never experienced such warm hospitality. As the wonderful waitress said 'It's like welcoming you into our home'. Nothing was too much trouble, we weren't rushed. We were just very well 'looked after'. The menu was full of unusual and appetising options. My friends particularly enjoyed seeing the menu had 'Thali' which is like an Indian Tapas. Between the three of them they shared one meat and two vegetarian Thali. I had a delicious King Prawn curry with lentils, although they had the standard balti, madras etc also. The food was excellent. Even the poppadums tasted better than usual. I would definitely go back and recommend it if you are in St. Albans!

This restaurant makes lovely food, we really enjoyed it and the service was excellent and very friendly. I heartily recommend them. We actually initially ordered our takeaway via deliveroo (Take my advice NEVER use deliveroo!!) We ordered and 40 mins later a take away bag is dumped at our house. The wrong bag from the wrong restaurant and not only that but the food is falling out of the containers inside the bag. Horrendously dreadful delivery service from deliveroo. So now our evening is potentially ruined. We have visited this restaurant in the past so we knew they were good so we know we would enjoy the food and that this is not the sort of service they would want to give. We phone the restaurant to explain what has happened. We know it is not their fault but we believe they really need to know. One of their chefs has put time and effort into preparing food and probably packed it really well and the deliveroo rider hasn't cared one bit about them or us. We are advised to ask for a refund from deliveroo (which we do). The restaurant immediately offer to recook our order for us again if we are happy to go and collect it directly from them. We are happy to do that and we are able to enjoy a takeaway from them half and hour later. Rescuing what our evening. They were so friendly, helpful and quick to rectify a problem that wasn't their fault. Thank you to The Alban.

Been coming here for years and we absolutely love it! The food quality is amazing and the family-run atmosphere and warm welcome makes this our favourite restaurant in St Albans. "The Ruby" is my favourite dish, followed closely by "Red Fort". Looking forward to my next visit (this Saturday!)

Great food with kind and attentive staff.

I would give 6 stars if I could. I asked for the hottest curry possible but still wanted flavour. I usually ask this when going for a curry. There are places that try to serve hot curries (usually not hot enough for my taste), and 9 times out of ten it’s a disappointment but …. THIS place was different! 11 out of 10. The combination of heat and flavour was mind blowing. I don’t say this easily. This was the best combination of heat and flavour I’ve ever experienced. I will so come back and make sure everyone I know knows how awesome this place is!

Found this beautiful little Indian restaurant via Google search on a day trip from Croydon, stopped off with my wife for dinner and from start to finish it was so lovely. Walking in we was shown to a table straight away, the owners and staff where so polite and attentive. The Food was extremely flavoursome and portions where just right for the price. Highly recommend a visit to this Indian! We will definitely return even if it is a 2 hour drive away! Thank you for a lovely meal and great service.

This is the best tandoori in st Alban's. Fresh food amazing atmosphere too. don't go anywhere else also don't get confused with st Alban's tandoori in st peters st miles apart in food quality. Properly recommended ps miss eden dad 😂

Great food here. We got a take away on deliveroo and the restaurant was so helpful and catered to a nut allergy. Everything we ordered was beautiful. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

My partner and I visited for the first time for our anniversary and we have decided that this is going to be our regular from now on. The food was delicious, authentic and had a great number of meat and vegan options. The peri peri prawns were amazing. Most of all the place has a really great charm, it's family run and the service was fantastic. Our host helped us pick out some dishes which we wouldn't have gone for otherwise and they were amazing.

Great choice of spicy and mild curries

Ate here with 3 old school friends on a Saturday night, service was friendly and efficient, the food was perfectly cooked and imaginative (as in not your regular Indian offerings of Korma, Bhuna, etc), great value too. It was a pity the place was so quiet as it deserves to be busy. Go, you will not be disappointed.

This is great for a delicious Indian meal. I personally recommend dansak if you have quite a good spice tolerance, if not the red Fort is also very good. They also cater incredibly well for allergies and diets such as vegan idm. One of my favourite spots in St alabans

Lots and lots of choice. New dishes we’d not heard before and all the favourites too. The staff were so friendly and keen to make our experience as good as possible. The lady owner told us, when she came to check we were happy with our food, that she was happy if we were happy and that sentiment was very genuine. Try and you’ll not be disappointed.

Superb… ordered a takeaway here for the family. Asked for a couple of dishes to made Mild for the little kids. Owner was extremely helpful with suggestions and made sure the kids food was just right. Everything delivered was fantastic and now The Alban is my favourite,

Fantastic food, genuine service, couldn’t fault anything. We are regular visitors and found this to be one of St Alban’s best places for an Indian meal, either as dine in or takeaway. The local staff, husband and wife, are really friendly and helpful. They are proud of their dishes and it shows. We will return.

Delicious Indian with exquisite cooking. You can taste all the individual flavours and its not swimming in fat as its so often the case with less refined restaurants. The service was wonderful too, very attentive and friendly. A real find! Will definitely come again.

What a warm welcome! The vegetarian dishes we had were melting, mouth watering delicious. The naan and rice fresh and flavoursome. The poppadums crispy and fast! Every two months, my friends meet up in St. Albans and start the evening by sharing a meal at 'The Alban, Indian Restaurant'. It is, unquestionably, the very best Indian food we have tasted. The chef specially prepares the food to suite some of my friends who have food alleges. The attention to food quality, preparation and customer care is without comparison. I would strongly recommend 'The Alban' to all visitors to St. Albans.
