disappointed, been 3 times and it’s been consistent. No sauce, so food is very dry…. But if you wish to pay £7 for garlic yogurt as a starter. Erm shouldn’t you get a small 2/3 sauces to go with your meal? I asked the 3 times if there were any sauces that come with the mixed grill £££.

Delightful restaurant, delicious food and quite an extensive menu. The staff were very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Great atmosphere. Although the restaurant was busy, the division into separate rooms meant that it never felt crowded.

The food here is amazing with plenty of choice for vegetarians. It is so nice to find totally different ddishes from the usual ones in restaurants. The service is friendly and helpful and did not make us feel rushed.

We frequent this place often and tend not to go for ages, then go and then are reminded just how fab it is then go mad! Been about 3/4 times this month! For a family celebration we had opted a different place but were unable to go; so selected Alaz which on hindsight should have been the original choice! Fabulous food, reasonable prices, great service and catered and met the tastes of all the family and friends from 21 to 90 years! Thank you again; the private room looked great just hope the singing did not disturb the over guests!

I cannot talk about this place enough, there really is nothing to fault it. All 5 of us ordered different dishes and the food came out all to the same standard. The food is lovely and the service matches the quality of food. I would recommend this place to everyone I know.

Alaz is one of the restaurant in Sudbury to go within one of the oldest properties in Sudbury. Nice staff. Good atmosphere.

We came to Alaz for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. We got to try their new Sunday lunch roast dinner and it was brilliant! Everything you’d want from a roast with a Turkish twist. Service was brilliant and staff are really friendly, will definitely come back on a Sunday for the roast again.

Me and 6 friends rented out the private room for a stag do/meal, firstly the food was exceptional and warrants a trip out to anyone wanting top end food, but the private room is a different experience altogether. The gorgeous decor set in a beautiful room gives a private and intimate atmosphere and feels very comfortable. The waiter was attentive and professional, and knew the menu very well …. We were well looked after! You will not be disappointed.

On a recent visit to family in Sudbury with my daughter I wanted to take her somewhere special for dinner. I had been to Alaz with a group previously and we had a fantastic meal and the service was great. I hoped that a number of years later I would find the same. I was so happy to find that it was still just as good. We were greeted and seated as soon as we arrived, a drinks menu placed in front of us both. The restaurant was very busy there were plenty of staff on hand, we were attended to in a timely manner - not rushed and we din't have to wait long for the food. When the food arrived it was presented beautifully and was amazing as I had remembered. I wish we lived closer, this would be a regular for us. We will be visiting Sudbury again later in the year and will certainly visiting again. Thank you for such a lovely evening both my daughter and I had a wonderful meal and I would highly recommend the cocktails to especially the Turksih Rose.

This was some of the best Turkish cuisine we have had, and that includes a few visits to Istanbul! The usual favourites, but all with a very good twist.....thicker borek than usual, but with a better filling, red pepper dolmades instead of vine leaves, a really well cooked sis kebop, and a first rate, spicy adana. All with delicate vegetables and bulgur rice. An unusual dessert....quince poached in cherry juice, with pomegranete and almonds.....oh yes, it was good. So for first rate Turkish food, this hits the spot.

Food lovely. Service awful. Service charge on a bottle of wine, why? We picked it up from the bar which was already overpriced. We had a large group and they charged people for drinks they didn’t order and made it a hassle to split the bill. Won’t return.

Probably the best place I've been for meal(s). Very friendly, good conversation, top quality food, beautiful ambience. Very highly recommended (I went twice) - I will be back that's for sure!!

Delicious! I’ve lived in the area for about a year but only just got around to eating at Alaz this evening and we were not disappointed. Great welcome from staff as you enter the premises and then all the staff were very attentive from the off. The food was delicious we had the vine leaves and beetroot salad for starters followed by the chicken shish from the grill and the lamb and prunes .. yum yum yum. We will be back as there were more delicious sounding dishes on the menu, the ambience was great too, I loved the Turkish music in the background. Thanks to the team at Alaz.

It might be on a busy junction but this is a lovely building full of character. We took a recommendation from the menu and ordered 4 of the cold meze with warm bread to start. These were outstanding, delicious flavours and a real highlight. I was with a non meat-eater and found my chicken main a bit dull - nicely cooked but missed having something ‘wet’ with it. My partner had the fish special which she loved. (Note to restaurant though - can you put the price on the specials menu; we were happy with what we paid but prefer to know upfront what the cost is,) Neither of us were keen on the bulgur rice it came with. I ordered baklava for dessert and that was also excellent. The service was a bit on the slow side but it was a busy evening when we went and all the servers were very friendly. Will go again, but would prefer next time to go with a group of meat eaters so we can share main courses.

This place is fantastic - great interiors, cosy and welcoming. The food and service were both excellent – I had the Sunday Lamb roast which was delicious. Plenty of veg and potatoes, amazing gravy and succulent chunks of lamb that melted in your mouth! Perfect.

The courses I ordered was nice to see and very good to eat, from starters to the dessert, the waiters service was excellent, smile and professional. And the owner came to the and to ask if we were satisfied. A true example of good restaurant management.

I do not normally write reviews but after seeing the reply to another customers review on the same evening I decided to show that theirs was not an isolated experience. we went to Alaz on valentines night. the food was ok if small portions, but the Service was very poor. three hours in the restaurant of which over 2 hours was spent waiting for food When I went to pay and mentioned the delays the staff were rude. I Will not return.

As Regular customers. We came for a meal on Valentine’s Day It was a set menu as is often the case on valentines night. Obviously to enable the kitchen to deal efficiently with the number of customers. We arrived promptly and were seated in a room with some other diners. We ordered our starters from the limited set menu which took 45 minutes to arrive, when the food did arrive it was lovely as always. The table was cleared then there was over an hours wait before our main courses arrived, this despite asking the waiter where our food was on 3 separate occasions, each time being told it would only be a few minutes. One of the couples next to us who had ordered before us had still not received their main course and after asking the waiter several times gave up and left. Another couple gave up after their main course and left before the desert arrived as again they had been waiting hours for their food. There appeared to be plenty of waiting staff but a serious problem getting the food out despite the very limited menu, We could have forgiven all this but when we went to pay the bill, and questioned the 10% service charge when we had been waiting literally hours for our food to be served, the owners wife turned around and said people should not come out on valentines night and expect good service. the son apologised and gave us a bottle of wine But we were quite shocked at the owners wife’s attitude. As we left the owner said under his breath but directed at us, people shouldn’t come out on Valentine’s night. To be honest despite the food being nice, we did not expect to be treated like this.

Me and my partner came for the wine tasting event and I can tell you it was absolutely amazing! We had 5 courses, with a glass of wine accompanying each course. And a very knowledgeable person talking about each wine. The food was beautiful and the portion sizes were VERY generous I was so full by the end of it! I am pescatarian and they were so accommodating to that; it was all so delicious. The service was amazing as usual; special mention to Oliver who was our waiter for the evening. Every time I’ve eaten at Alaz it never disappoints. Thank you so much again - PLEASE do another event like this I have so many people wanting to come with me!!

We want to the taster evening and had a lovely evening. 5 courses paired with wines £50 per head plus prosecco on arrival. Before each course we were given a lot of info on each wine which was very interesting. Food was amazing, as were the wines although we weren't keen on the dessert wine as not really had it before. Just great food! Extensive choice, (the Islim, roasted lamb wrapped and baked in aubergine, is superb), friendly staff and good value for money. Family run and now, apparently, with rooms.

As always , the best Turkish food experience in and around Sudbury. The food and the service cannot be beaten anywhere. Look forward to seeing you all again this weekend.

Sadly this popular Turkish restaurant has succumbed to taking its customers for granted with inflated prices and the addition of a 10% service charge ..Having eaten there many times before I will not be returning as now not good value for money compared to other venues and disappointed at the change in tariffs ..

This is a food experience, not just lunch. Every dish fresh and served with fantastic service. Great wine and drinks selection, authentic Turkish experience. We Cannot stop ourself being here at least once per week.

Lovely family style Turkish restaurant. I was very impressed with the service and also the quality of the beer. The grilled chicken was probably the best grilled chicken I've had all year, decent sized portions and a wide choice of dishes on the menu including kids options. Octopus and lamb chops also a highlight. There were a few minor niggles that stopped a 5 star review, like cold plates, a badlu chilled espresso martini, and noisy pipes next to our table.

I had heard how good Alaz was but it still exceeded my expectations. The quality of the meat was unmatched. The portion sizes were certainly generous and I would've loved to have had the space to attack the appetising dessert menu but we were all so full. This delicious meal paired with the kind and professional staff made for a great experience and a memorable evening!

As a regular customer, I can’t rate Alaz highly enough. Every single visit the service is excellent, the food is absolutely top rate and the atmosphere is great. The ONLY place in Sudbury that never fails to impress

I don't usually writes reviews but me and my family love coming to Alaz. The atmosphere is fantastic and the staff are so accomadating and friendly. We have a 1 year old who has been in this restaurant with us on multiple occasions since she's been born and the staff are incredibly welcoming with her. She always has something baby friendly to try and nibble on, there's always a baby seat available for us and one of the waiters even cleaned up her cutlery to take home for me. The food is authentic, open kitchen at the front of the restaurant with a lovely wine list. Or a lovely shirley temple non alcoholic cocktail if your not drinking. If you have any questions regarding the food there is always someone to assist you, the passion for Turkish food and family pours from not only the owners and the waiters, but their chefs too. Nothing is ever too much. Thank you for another amazing family meal and we look forward to coming again soon. Oh and I can't forget the lovely back room of the restaurant with a bar and sofa/ seating area to cosy up on a winters evening! We love to take some homemade pudding in there!

Last minute booking for a belated anniversary meal with my husband. Such a lovely meal, staff so friendly and excellent service, and the food literally heaven in every bite. I had wanted to try this restaurant with my wife after many recommendations. When a good friend recently came to visit us, it was the opportune time. Once inside we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome by the owners and taken to a nice table. You do feel you have been transported to Turkey itself. The food was very good and authentic. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. This is a very special place enjoy the delightful and very tasty food of Turkey for any occasion.

Food was excellent with big portions. Staff extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The cocktails were also very tasty. One in the party with an allergy and they were able to take care of it with no issues.
