I recently dined at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester in their private dining room, and it was, without question, one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. For a restaurant that boasts three Michelin stars, the service and attention to detail were shockingly poor from start to finish. From the beginning, we noticed service issues: bread crumbs and butter remained on the table between courses, food menus were left strewn across the table, and napkins weren’t picked up when anyone went to the bathroom—a detail that shouldn’t be overlooked at a restaurant of this caliber. Even worse, plates were being cleared before everyone was done eating, a level of carelessness I’d expect from a casual eatery, not a fine dining establishment charging premium prices. The food itself? Mediocre at best. It certainly didn’t match the high reputation or astronomical price tag (nearly £6,000!). But the true disappointment came from the General Manager. When we politely raised these issues, he offered no apology, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to make things right—not even a complimentary gesture or a simple word of empathy. The experience left such a sour taste that we opted to skip the cheese and dessert courses, settled the eye-watering bill, and left. I wouldn’t return if they paid me to. Save yourself the trouble and find somewhere that actually values its patrons.

We have eaten at a lot of the top restaurants in the UK over the years and for us personally this has to be one of the best. The service was impeccable not only because the team were extremely attentive, as you may expect in a 3 star but we had conversations with every person that served us. We don’t like stuffy or pretentious and this place is definitely not either. It’s a lovely warm and welcoming environment where you feel very at home and relaxed. When we described the type of wine that we enjoyed, the sommelier advised us on what he thought would suit best, he didn’t disappoint and chose perfectly. The food was balanced and extremely well executed. What we particularly loved and although it may seem small was that you had a cheese course included, rather than having to pay a supplement like in so many high end restaurants. The three cheeses provided were exceptional and complimented each other perfectly. You may think cheese is boring but when you taste this selection, you really won’t be disappointed. We were able to meet Jean-Philippe Blondet in person, a relaxed and easy going chef who gave us the time of day when he didn’t need too. A huge thank you to all the team that made the whole experience so enjoyable for us, we couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough.

Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester is elegant but falls short of expectations. While the setting is luxurious and service is impeccable, the dishes lack the depth and creativity you might expect. It’s a pleasant experience, but it may not justify the high price tag for some diners.

This was an outstanding culinary experience with impeccable service. I opted for the tasting menu with accompanying wine with each dish. The chef/kitchen handled my spouses dietary restrictions perfectly. She was incredibly happy! I do know that every dish was superbly presented with enthusiastic explanations of both food and wine from their team. This contrasted with the restaurant interior which has room for improvement. The experience was fantastic! We would highly encourage everyone to make a visit to this beautiful hotel and restaurant.

Food was absolutely amazing. We had the 7 dish tasting menu, we got: a seed cracker and beets filled with smoked fish mouse for amuse bouche, then we got 4 kinds of bread butter and whipped soya milk with lemon, and just then we started "eating". We had a bunch of great dishes, we also got an oyster dish, a herb granita dish, an apricot vanilla deesert, and a lemon mini sponge cake that were not on the menu (At the end you also get 3 kinds of chocolates and 3 mini deesert). The waiters were actually amazing especially Marion that organised a kitchen tour for us. The chocolate gift at the end was also very pleasant.

You select the china, plan the menu and wine pairings with the Chef and Sommelier. The atmosphere in the private dining area is unique. The service was attentive but not intrusive. This is THE special occasion dining experience. You even select what Hermes plates you want used at dinner. Paola Brundu was helpful in coordinating the planning. This is an overdue review. Food was great and deserved a 5 star review, however it was marred by a super slow service towards the end of our meal. We booked for a 7 course tasting 3 Michelin menu. The following was what we were served. Amuse bouche of lobster roll with sesame cracker. - Brocolli kristal caviar veloute - Asparagus, nori and watercress sabayon - Lobster medallion with truffle and homemade semolina pasta - Turbot, razor claim and black garlic - John Dory - French cheeses - Pineapple sorbet We enjoyed every course served. However towards the end, service slowed down tremendously and we waited an hour for dessert to be served. This is really unacceptable.

We enjoyed a meal at AD a couple weeks ago and it was a very pleasant experience. The service, in particular, was impeccable - friendly, attentive, but not overbearing. The tasting menu was delicious but not extremely memorable, with the exception of the scallops - those were extraordinary! Unfortunately, we did finish dining quite late and therefore the other parts of the hotel were (understandably) closed and so our request for post-dinner cigars was rejected. Nevertheless, we definitely had a pleasant time and will be glad to return again, albeit next time we will make certain to start rather earlier. The little gifts we were given to take with us was a nice touch which was certainly appreciated.

Not deserving of 3 stars by any stretch. The service is pretty much on point but they pulled a fast one after the tasting menu (In which they bring amuse between courses) when they offered an ‘infusion tea’ a sprig of your herb of choice covered with hot water, £10 a piece, you just feel taken advantage of. Other than that the food is good but not 3* standard, the 2* I worked in (Le Manoir) was vastly superior.

Dined here with a group of friends yesterday to celebrate a birthday. The atmosphere and room setting of the restaurant is beautiful. For those of us that had the tasting menu, the food was very well presented but was disappointing overall compared to other 3 Michelin star restaurants. There was no stand out dish although we did enjoy the lobster. Similar to other reviews, I was surprised at the attitude of the staff in the restaurant. They lack the ability to connect with the table, very serious when they engage which is off putting when you are trying to have a good time. They definitely need better training if you want people to leave having a good time. The chocolate cake which I pre ordered for the birthday was the best part of the night. The wait between dishes is often too long as well which ruins the experience.

Dinner yesterday. First of the year. The team in the kitchen and on the floor are so consistent in a positive way that dining here is a zero risk event. They are just so professional. I don't know about you but with sky rocketing prices at restaurants today, I literally cannot afford any longer making mistakes in dining out. The mistake of selecting a bad restaurant is just too prohibitively expensive. Not a risk here. Been there several time, the cuisine, the visuals are nicer now, no point expanding, they are just very good, even in desserts! This cuisine in London has one key characteristics that makes it quite different from its peers: I have tasted quite a few of their dishes over the years, and the team in the kitchen clearly is not afraid of taking risks and to innovate... This is what I personaly love it here but many of their in 2*-3* peers are much more risk-adverse in their recipes, in their visuals, in their business propositions to clients etc... So far it has worked but it is more risky. I am sure they know that... On the floor they have an excellent restaurant manager. Smart and pro. A keeper in my language! Sommellerie is excellent too. Only one thing I would change ASAP: the music. Even in a lift, it is better. Whoever selected the playlist should be fired at once. And I am not joking. Clearly someone who does not work on the floor and someone who does not eat there. Thankfully, the rest is just perfect.

A perfect Michelin three-star experience, you can feel the meticulous service, and the hotel itself is also very luxurious👍 The overall performance of the meals is good, but venison is chosen as the main meat meal this season. One of my fellow attendees clearly indicated their allergens at the beginning of the meal, then later that was served to him. When he gently reminded them of this, the staff rudely asked him if he really indicated it at the beginning. A little assumption of positive intent would have gone a long way here. In addition the service was a bit slow to our preference. Maybe this is expected by other customers though so maybe just subjective.

3*Mich. I was disappointed as, to me, it lacked the magic of the Michelin star rating, the marketing and the wonderful glamorous surroundings within Dorchester Hotel. Only one dish was truly outstanding and memorable which is the scallops. It is a symphony of many different delicious flavours and textures. The remaining dishes were unremarkable. The Hugel Riesling wine is pleasant; I often have a glass of this exact same bottle in the French House Soho… hmm. The service set my teeth on edge announcing dishes far too rapidly and without engaging with us…the accent of one is so strong I could not understand what I was being told. Also I was uncomfortable with the manner of the waiting staff. I dined at Kerridge’s a few days later and both venues have enormously high ceilings; at both I found the feel/setting was unappealing and perhaps cold, compared to other venues. CH

The hostess that checked us in was not ok with my partner's outfit and asked the manager for verifying. The manager didn't even give a second glance and ok'd us sitting at the restaurant. My partner was just wearing a sweater and pants. The bad part starts now. I had asked if we could change seats since our seat was at the end of the restaurant. The male staff were not unsure but their service was amazing. They asked the hostess to verify and then she delightfully skipped over to our table with a grin on her face. Holding herself back she said "unfortunately the entire restaurant is booked for our regulars and because of your outfit you should be thankful that we even let you in". Sure, throughout the night the restaurant was indeed not fully occupied unless their guests were Casper the friendly ghost and his friends. This lady has a power issue and if she thinks she is sophisticated, I ask every guest to see where she puts their coats for the coat check. She tosses them to a bar stool behind her desk having everyone of them stacked on top of each other no matter how dirty or quality other coats are. Is this good service? I would like to be enlightened. Otherwise, the service from the waiters and chef were amazing. They were responsive and the food was great. Dined on 11/22/23

Very difficult! A three star Michelin restaurant. Expectations are high. One spends a few thousand dollars or a few thousand pounds for not only the experience but heavenly food. While the food was good and the service was good...it was not mind blowing by any stretch of the imagination. Everyone was disappointed. The staff was courteous and did their roles. I was wearing a black suit, they only had white napkins which I have not seen before. Possible white lint on a black suit is why I always have seen different colored napkins available. There were times where one wine glass was different from the others. Thought that was odd. A little sloppy. They were very good at planning menu options for anyone with allergies. The food did seem to have an over citrus flavor theme throughout. Not a big citrus fan. So I personally had a problem. There was one dish that features a small bit of sardines to add variety of flavor. Seemed very poorly executed. Was not spread evenly to give the full consistent taste. One bite had none. Another bite that sardine is all I tasted and another was perfect. The steak dish had no flavor at all. Even a little salt would have helped. We enjoyed the cream that came with the caviar, scallop and the lobster dish the most. Most of the dishes were not memorable. I would not come back here. Once again there are so many good options available.

Not 3* food, or service. Very disappointing meal here the other week. We chose A La Carte, as the tasting menu was fairly narrow and did not appeal. Food was fine, but certainly no where near 3* standard - lacking the complexed individual flavours and wow factor in the mouth one expects. Think more along the lines of 1* cuisine. Lobster was very good, but lacked that something extra to really impress. Wagyu beef was very poor quality and could certainly be supplemented with a finer regular beef. More work certainly required here. Service was acceptable. We were left without a menu for around 10-15 minutes and at several points had to pour our own wine due to staff not being attentive watching levels. Surprisingly long wait for food to appear, 30-40 mins. There are nowhere near enough staff for the size of the restaurant and covers it has - it is huge for this level of dining, which I was most surprised about. Clearly prioritising the income over service. Rather odd choice of music being played in the background too, which seemed to be similar to what the DJ in the Vesper Bar was playing. In summary I fear Michelin have awarded 3* through rose tinted glasses and purely for the fact Alain Ducasse’s name is over the door. You can have significantly better experiences at numerous 1* & 2* establishments in London and as a result we would not return.

We went for the tasting menu with paired wines. Having eaten at a few other Michelin restaurants (Core, Heston, Moor Hall, The Kitchin) we had some benchmarks to compare Alain Ducasse to. The service is impeccable and the staff were very professional and friendly. The entire service took nearly 4.5 hours and there were long waits between courses so make sure to factor this in if you have a late reservation. The surprise was the food. Whilst some dishes (scallops, lobster) were exceptional with rich, incredible sauces we didn't have those wow moments with the other dishes that we experienced at other Michelin restaurants. I would highly recommend the caviar, the way they served it made it one of the stand-outs for us. We went for the Icons wine selection and the sommelier had done an incredible job. We didn't want to drink 7 full glasses of wine so they kindly split this so we had half a glass each per course. We got to meet Alberto (an absolute gent) and his team which was a lovely touch, and his kitchen is incredible. It's a huge restaurant and whilst the fibre optics are striking, when you're sat there you could almost see the room being used for a wedding/conference venue because of the style of wood panelling on the walls.

This was the greatest dining experience I’ve ever had. The atmosphere, service and food were absolutely fantastic. I was their for a birthday celebration and the Staff went far out of their way to make it a very special evening. We had the wine pairing with 7 course tasting menu and it was spectacular.

I've been there when they were "only" 2 Michelin stars. I've been there after they got 3 Michelin stars. At that time they served a 3 course set lunch menu per 40£(!), including 2 different wines, coffee and "petit fours". Also an extra "amuse bouche", butter made from salt from a special location in France, a special mousse of cheese and 3 different kinds of amazing bread, made by themselves obviously. Just a number of unforgettable experiences.

No competition. Sadly. I visit quite a lot of restaurants in London (and in Europe) from Bib to 3*. In brief, JP Blondet at Ducasse and his team on the floor are trading way above the competition here in London in their category, at the moment. For ex. was at a world’s famous 3* restaurant a few weeks ago in Chelsea, and it just is not “boxing in the same category”. Some 3* should secretly visit this Dorchester “auberge” and see what’s like to make a client feel so at ease/comfortable you just do not want to leave either because of the cuisine or because the staff is so professional (they have a new RM, a young, very pro and may I say, very attractive lady!). With prices so high now in London (funny how 1* restaurants are now roughly GPB 100+, 2* GBP 200 and 3* GBP 300 excl. wines), those restaurants better be not just good but excellent, out of this world. An example? I had a coffee/cream-based desert in my 3*Chelsea restaurant in early July, the type of desert that it is easy to prepare well ahead of customers coming at 1815. Yep! 1815! No choice! Who wants a coffee/creamy based desert on a hot Saturday of July? Seasons? Who cares? What are they going to serve in November? Even the Ritz changed their excellent souffle to adapt to the current season! But a 3* In Chelsea ? No!!! Who the pastry chef works for? Customers? 😊 You must be joking! They should be so lucky to have the privilege to dine in our restaurant I hear them saying…. Do those restaurants think they can keep on charging those prices with those practices and keep their ratings….? So yes I am not going to continue to pay GBP 300 for a restaurant whose staff on the floor and in the kitchen are working for themselves instead of working for clients like in this Chelsea-based eatery. Here I had a cherry-based desert and my friend a strawberry. Seasons fruits. Season deserts. Yes more risks of wasting fragile strawberries or cherries… No risk of wasting coffee beans true…..Your P&L is safe... The cuisine here is innovative, I tasted some excellent langoustines in a cold consommé, a Scottish wagyu beef with a great jus, highly refined and highly technical in my view etc… Prices have gone up and now dining in London is really expensive. Some restaurants will be able to stay competitive. That’s the case here. Not certain for many restaurants. I am not very optimistic for those high end restaurants that require customers to come on Saturday eve a 0615, and be out by 0930 whilst serving dishes that are so “ready-to-serve” by the Kitchen/floor staff so they can get out and have their evening for “only” GBP 500 per head inc. VAT… Well no thank you. Again not the case here. Not cheap but thankfully, here you could almost say this is great value for money. Almost! 😊

Such a unique experience. This is so much more than dinner! The restaurant's service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. They provided detailed descriptions of each dish and were readily available whenever we needed assistance. The pacing between each course was just right, allowing us to savor and appreciate each dish. We will be returning.

Having dined here before we were looking forward to another wonderful experience with a journey through amazing creative culinary delights and impeccable service that you would would expect from a three star. However the sparkle is not quite as it once was, the food was delicious and beautifully prepared but a little lacking in creativity and the service was not three star attentive service from all the front of house (some training issue’s possibly?). I have eaten more creative food and had far more attentive service at Sketch and Helene Darroze. Wine pairings and non alcoholic pairings with the tasting menu were also not mentioned at all which was rather odd? Overall the whole experience felt a little lacklustre and lacking that three star experience you would expect. Maybe an off night with new staff but at that level there should not be any off nights!!

The occasion of my birthday guided us to grace the opulent interiors of a restaurant which we’ve had the privilege to experience before. In its magnificent splendour and culinary prowess, it had previously managed to leave us awestruck, an experience that etched a permanent memory in our hearts. This visit, while mostly splendid, revealed a subtle diminution in its previously undoubted sparkle and grandeur. The fare, it must be said, remained as exceptional as ever, a testament to the culinary maestros behind the scenes. Each dish was a cornucopia of flavours, an exploration of the delicate artistry that has rightly earned this establishment its coveted place among the top 3 Michelin-starred restaurants globally. However, certain unexpected glitches did mildly tarnish our evening. Upon expressing my preference for a teetotal evening, my wife duly requested a non-alcoholic cocktail menu for me. To our dismay, this detail, as seemingly insignificant as it may be for some, was overlooked. Inexplicably, this led to an all-encompassing assumption that our table had opted for an abstemious evening. Despite my wife’s order of a Campari and soda from another steward, the concept of wine pairings was not broached thereafter. A redeeming feature was the delightful young lady who enthusiastically explained the intricacies of the tasting menu. Her insightful knowledge, coupled with her keen willingness to accommodate my daughter’s dietary needs, was a refreshing example of attentive service. In the spirit of the occasion, I elected to adorn my dishes with black truffles, an additional indulgence I was keen to treat myself to. Regrettably, this augmentation was overlooked, resulting in an absence of the anticipated truffle infusion. In summation, while our visit was generally delightful, it lacked the breathtaking ‘wow’ factor we had come to associate with this prestigious establishment. Regardless, we remain hopeful that future visits will recapture the immaculate brilliance and meticulous attention to detail that this esteemed restaurant is renowned for.

MICHELIN 3* - LONDON The service was top notch! The place felt really fancy. The food however, was just decent and was not as good as I had expected from a 3* Michelin. They were very nice, just not as expected. For the price, we could get a better meal in a 2* or 1* Michelin restaurant.

I expected much more from a 3 ⭐️ restaurant. Especially the service, serving food when people are not at the table. Crossing in front of people to place fork or knife. Leaving people with an empty wine glas. Not worth the 500€ a person, sorry. Had much beter service and food in 1 ⭐️ restaurant.

I’ve been a patron for 10 years, was not able to dine here during covid, and was disappointed on almost all the changes they made to the experience. The delectable gougères is now gone, with only 3 breads (ciabatta, sourdough, rye) available throughout the meal. The 2 mains are over cooked and very average in flavour. No more cheese trolley or mignardises trolley, making it much less of a luxurious experience. A similar wine pairing 4 years ago would now cost twice as much, which is probably the biggest let down in the entire experience. What sealed my farewell to this restaurant was their front staff - when I was handed my coat they did not realise they have tucked my scarf in the sleeves and dropped my scarf, then proceeded to stepping all over it. No apologies whatsoever they just pretended nothing has gone wrong, picked up my scarf and handed it to me! Rest assured I will not be wearing this scarf anymore!

I visited Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester for my birthday with my wife. We had the tasting menu and the food was exquisite apart for the fish that wasn't anything special nor tasty. We very much enjoyed the medallion lobster, the scallop and the he venison. The service however was a big let down for a 3-stars Michelin restaurant. We had a glass of champagne when we sat and the sommelier put maybe 50ml in my wife's glass while my glass was filled normally. I never saw that in any restaurant in the world, regardless of their price or how many Michelin stars they have. That was a bad way to start the diner and spoiled a bit the good feel factor of the arrival. The total bill for 2 tasting menus, 2 glasses of champagne at the beginning and half-bottle champagne during the diner was £561. When we left and got our jackets, I noticed my Louis Vuitton pin wasn't on my jacket anymore. I told the staff and they started looking on the floor for it. I ended up finding it after a while, but not the whole pin, the back was still missing. That was rather annoying to see. I was told they are going to keep looking for it and that I would be contacted. I wasn't and after some days I got in touch with them. At first they were dismissive and when I told them I'm not happy with the way they're treating this a manager then called me. They told me they're still looking for the back part but I'm not expecting it to find it. To spend above £500 on a diner and then to be disrespected I find unpardonable. I'm not going back there again.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Let me start out by saying I don’t normally write reviews but I would hate for someone else’s trip to be ruined because of this establishment. I booked this hotel because it was decently priced and seemed in a good location. This was a mother-daughter trip for my mom and I before I get married. To say we were disappointed in this hotel would be an understatement. If I could give it 0 stars I would. I normally stay at Marriotts, and I will never stay in another Hilton again because of this. We arrived late and upon check in we were told that the room I had booked (king room with park view) had a leak so the best they could do was give us a queen room and have us move in the morning. (Annoying, but we agreed after they agreed to give us a discounted price. This discounted price wasn’t even offered from the beginning, we had to ask.) So my mom and I went to dinner quickly across the street, and came back to our room in order to go to sleep. Upon pulling the sheets back we were greeted with strings of long hair all between the sheets. We then looked at the bathroom and there were used tissue on the floor, and trash in the shower. CLEARLY, our room was not even clean. The bare minimum you expect from a hotel. We phoned down to the reception, who informed the manager. The absolute best he could offer us were clean sheets for us to put on the bed ourselves. Sheets were brought up in a ball, and had stains on them. The pillows of the bed were completely stained once we removed the covers. The manager could not have been less concerned, and I was left completely disappointed with our first night in London. My mom was disgusted. If it had not been 11:30pm and we were not exhausted from traveling. We would have moved to another hotel right then and there. We made the management aware we were moving the next morning, they first tried to charge us a cancellation fee and for the full 3 nights we were originally booked. Completely unacceptable. The best they have offered me since we left was pointed credited to my Hilton Account, a waste since this was my last Hilton hotel I will stay in. If you are looking for a wonderful hotel, and a perfect London experience - PLEASE go to St. Ermin, a Marriott (2 Caxton). We had the absolute BEST service and best time, it completely made our trip. We were given a complimentary upgrade when we arrived because they felt so bad for us after hearing our story from this Hilton. This hotel would have completely ruined my mom’s first experience of London.
