Not open at all. Had a booking but when we arrived whole place was closed up. Apparently its been closed for a few weeks.

Think this place must be closed! I had booked a meal far a special family birthday in December. Tried several times the week before to reconfirm the booking and was unable to get through. Left voicemails asking for a return call and got nothing back. I rebooked elsewhere in the end as I couldn’t risk turning up and the m being closed. I didn’t receive any call asking where we were so presumably they didn’t miss us!

Is there any way to contact you? I tried to book online or by phone call and it was not successful. Website is down. Messeger doesn’t answer my question.

The food didn’t disappoint got the sharing platter which was more than enough for two! I had the special beef medallions which was really nice However the only thing the menu wasn’t massive or have a lot of seafood on there

From them not being able to send us a menu by email, to website down, not having ANY choice of white wine, choices previously made, not available. When we finally, after an hour, got our food, despite us having to hand deliver our choices, it arrived. Some tepid some hot. Some ok, some skimpy. My 'calves' liver I doubt was calves, but was so over cooked, it was hard to say. In all - looks like a restaurant on a slippery slope. I doubt very much it will be there in 2 months time. Nice venue - nice girls waiting on. I think they were a bit embarrassed. We were out to have some fun so didn't make a fuss but did ask for a discount and asked for our deposit to be deducted off the bill!!

Came here after checking trip advisor for good recommendations. Upon arriving we were not informed of the missing draft beers or the missing fish of the menu. We were told table service however we had to frequent the bar due to nobody checking if we wanted more drinks. Upon frequenting the bar I found the staff to be passive aggressive as well as overcharging for the drinks we ordered. The food was nice however portions were small considering the price. When receiving the final bill we were overcharged and after discussing with the manager he was very angry. I do not think it was worth the 1 n half hour wait. The menu was very expensive for what was received.I will not return.

Not the best experience, under staffed, two front of house and two chefs in the kitchen, about 40 people in the restaurant. I could see the staff were all stressed. Im glad we decided to walk out, there is plenty of other restaurants to choose from at the Hull Marina.

Used to be one of my favourite restaurants but now a little unsure. It never has been cheap but the food has always been excellent. I ordered my usual Ravioli All Aragosta and my friend had a Risotto di Pesce. My meal was delicious, as usual. You never do get a big portion and don't really need too much as it is very rich. My friend's risotto was a different story. When it arrived, we both looked at the meagre portion, looked at each other, then back at the meagre portion. She said it was pretty tasteless and ate it in record time as there wasn't very much at all. Don't mind paying £17.95 for such a dish if there is a decent enough serving and it tastes nice but she was very disappointed. Saying all that I shall try the restaurant again in the hope that it was just a blip.

Shaky start. The welcome was less than auspicious. More little chef than little Italy. However, they managed to squeeze 7 of us in on a busy Saturday night. So the service is average to good. The prices are high. I’m from London and they were around what I would expect to pay at a good London restaurant, the wine again, rather top heavy with a Primitivo of not great heritage coming in at £28 a bottle. So why do I give a mediocre service expensive restaurant 5 stars? The food is the very simple answer. It was astonishingly good. For that I forgive the fork dropped onto my white polo, the lack lustre welcome and the long wait to even order drinks. So smarten up the service and this place will be a real gem.

Such a brilliant restaurant with wonderful food at reasonable prices. We were made very welcome by every member of staff which created a very warm atmosphere.

We went to Al Porto with friends. Some friends had been before and some hadn’t . Apart from the six of us there was another couple sat eating. The waitress took our drinks order and we said we would also like wine with our meal and we would order the wine with our food order. The drinks order was wrong. The waitress tried twice to remove the glasses for our wine from our table. Our starters order was wrong when they arrived, she did apologise. Our side plates were not taken away and I had to ask for some cutlery for my main course. Our platter starter was nice, my main course lobster ravioli was average and in my opinion not worth the money. Disappointed really and not cheap for 6 of us. Not as nice as our first visit last June. Will not return. If the food and service is good it’s worth the money. We didn’t leave a tip!

Like so many other reviews state on here, my experience was disappointing. Slow to serve us and prices that did not justify the overly seasoned food.....far too much salt in my opinion to the point where it was almost inedible. I will not be returning to the venue again there are far better options in Hull.

poor service, poor quality food for a high price. If you want decent steak cooked to your liking, go to your local butcher and cook it yourself, because you won't get what you want in this restaurant and it will be significantly cheaper. The food was over seasoned and over cooked. If you want good food and good service go elsewhere or stay at home, do not eat here.

The maitre d was rude to my wife when seating us but she convinced me that we should stay to eat, I wish we hadn’t. We then waited 20 minutes after being seated then had to ask a waiter if he could take our drinks order. The maitre d then refused to have the steak cooked to one of our parties preferred “well done” choice. I had finger food to start and had to ask for a finger bowl or some wipes as the staff didn’t bother providing one, or any napkins. The chips that came with the steak may as well just have been a bowl of salt. My wife’s risotto was likewise extremely salty. What was meant to be a great evening with friends & a lovely meal ended up being a great evening with friends but with a bang average but very expensive meal served, eventually, by rude and incompetent staff.

The service is appalling, the staff are rude and the prices are shocking. We were made to feel unwelcome and a burden right from the start. The head waiter/owner has no people skills and is incredibly rude not only to his customers but to his own staff in front of customers. He needs to relax and be a bit nicer to paying customers. Definitely one to avoid!

The restaurant is fully set up for Covid and all tables are spread out. We went on a Monday night but it was nearly at capacity (still felt half full due to the table configuration). My husband had the pate to start which was lovely however I think at £9.95 it was expensive for what you get - these prices are on par with a high end restaurant. Main course my husband had chicken with mash again it was lovely but the portion size for the price was high. I had the carbonara which was good and quite a decent size. We both had cheesecake for dessert which I would recommend (I had white chocolate cheesecake) again for £6.95 I thought it was expensive. I do think the advertising on the 50% off is misleading as it’s capped at £10 so effectively you are getting a starter free. I would go again but only if there was an offer on as £70 for a midweek dinner is expensive .

We booked a table for 4 ppl for 8.30. We arrived at 8.30. We waited until 9.15 to order drinks. We then proceeded to order 2 drinks each(let me remind you there was only 4 of us). We ordered food and then had to wait until 10.15 for starters. At no point did the staff apologise for the delay or even inform us there was a delay. We sent back our mains and then left. Totally unacceptable customer service. When I spoke to the manager he spoke over me and asked me to leave. Totally ruined our anniversary meal and will not go to the establishment again. I have eaten here on several occasions and have always enjoyed the service and food. Todays experience was unacceptable and could have been handled a lot differently. Such a shame for an establishment that is really needed in hull

Excellent menu that stands out having a varied non standard 'Italian Menu'. Yes there are some routine expectations, but there is a great range of exiting varied dishes not seen on many Italian restaurants.We were a party of four, that had full starters, mains and desert. There was not one average dish, everything was well presented, well cooked, full of tase and well portioned. It is a bit pricey, but if you want something special you have to pay for it.The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.

We visit Hull probably 5 or 6 times a year for a break away from Home, and as a change decided to have a Saturday Luch time Italian. What a fantastic choice it was to eat at Al Porto, The restaurant is modern clean and welcoming,the waitress was brilliant,and the food was 2nd to none.Fantastic food, great wine, great service, and great surroundings.A cut above your normal italian with a pasta/pizza menu, delivering the better taste of an Italy Thanks for a fantastic Lunch.Derek and Clare xx

Having attended Al Porto on 26th August I can say that it’s the first time for many years that the starter, main and sweet were all first class. All courses were presented very nicely and the taste was superb. Usually when eating out you can say that one or in some cases two of the courses do not give you the feeling that it couldn’t have tasted any better. Will I go back? Definitely

Thursday night so the place wasn't overcrowded.Starter: Pate for her Garlic and Cream Mussels for me.Both were delicious.Main: Cannelloni for me Seafood linguine for her. Again the meals were delicious. We had a bottle of rioca too full for dessert but we had coffee. Bill was arond 60 pounds staff were attentive and professional. A relaxed armosphere great food and wine. Will go again and would recommend the place.

We had a very nice meal here and found the staff really professional and helpful. There was rather a lot of garlic in everything for us but I am sure most people would not mind that.Would recommend a risotto dish as they are made to order and worth the money.

This was our first vistit to Al porto, my husband and i like to eat out quite regularly but had never visited this restaurant. We were unable to celebrate on the 14th so decided to go on the Saturday, it seemed an ideal time to try somewhere new. This restaurant has very good reviews, it seemed the perfect choice. First impression was very good, an attractive warehouse, we wondered why we hadn't been before. We don't eat starters very often, we prefer a dessert, we are usually too full for three courses. We both ordered the fillet rossini which came with mashed potatoes, we ordered a side of broccoli to share. Having read previous reviews we knew that all meals are freshly cooked to order so expected to wait quite a while which wasn't a problem. I ordered my steak medium to well, my husband ordered medium. When the food arrived, first impression was how small both the portions of mashed potatoes and broccoli were. Both the mash and the broccoli were cold the steak hot, the sauce was served separately in individual jugs. We have both eaten fillet rossini on many occasions, never before have we had it served with such a small amount of sauce, at £28 for each steak we were both disappointed. Once i reached the middle of my steak i realised it was far from medium to well, i left the remaining steak. When the waiter asked if everything was ok i showed him my steak, telling him it wasn't cooked how i asked for it, he just took our plates and asked if we wanted starters, i think he meant desserts! We both ordered cheesecake for dessert, my husband said his salted caramel New York was very nice my cherry kirsch was rather bland. The bill was £95 which also included a glass of wine, 2 beers and 2 coffee's, average price for an Italian restaurant. At first i wondered why we hadn't ever been before, now i know, big disappointment! The restaurant wasn't busy a few people arrived without having a table already booked which wasn't a problem. We went hoping to find a new restaurant to visit on future occasions but sadly this won't be the case. Very disappointed first time customers Kerry and Martin.

We Booked this restaurant for my wife's 60th birthday as the reviews were so good. What a mistake! We'd had a great afternoon with her family and friends. Then went here for an expensive classy meal. We had reserved a table for 6, delivered party balloons and a birthday cake ready for a surprise get together with her daughter and close friends. The restaurant looked lovely and the 6 of us sat down expecting a first class meal. The menu was quite simple and expensive, so we thought it must be good. We ordered drinks and food. After an hour there was still no sign of our starters! I went to the bar area as we couldn't get a waiters attention to complain and asked to see the manager. As we'd been waiting an hour I also asked for a round of drinks on the house as most of our bottle of wine had now gone! The manager never came, but the waitress begrudgingly took our order for more drinks. Shortly after the starters finally arrived. Starters finished we waited for our mains. 45 minutes later they finally arrived. It soon became apparent that the so called fresh pasta had been microwaved, (perhaps freshly cooked and left to go cold in the kitchen then re-warmed in the microwave would be my guess). This really was the last straw. So we all agreed we could not accept this and rejected it all and complained to the waitress and asked to see the manager again. She went back to the manager and returned saying he would give us some discount. I told her my wife's birthday celebration had been ruined and so we didn't want to pay anything. It was now 10pm and all we'd had was a starter. Well, finally the manager came over. I tried to tell him how my wife's night had been ruined by these event's, but he wouldn't even acknowledge me. He was so arrogant and unapologetic it was unbelievable. In the end he stormed off to the other side of the restaurant and shouted back at us to get out of his house! During this time two other tables also complained about the food and I believe also left. If a restaurant is busy and food is running late I'd expect an apology and assurance that the food was on its way. No one came near. Although we had party balloons on the table and had a cake delivered earlier not once did any staff mention or wish my wife a happy birthday. If I ask to see the manager I expect him to pay me the courtesy of coming over. We did not shout, we just tried to express our disappointment, but he neither listened or apologised. Shouting across the restaurant is totally unprofessional. I am not a complainer, but will complain about bad service and I will praise if I get good service. We felt very disappointed that our day had been spoilt by atrocious service, but more than that we felt insulted at this man's arrogance. He should have been apologetic for the bad service. Instead he caused a scene in front of all his customers. Total disgrace. Since looking at the admittedly relatively few bad reviews on Tripadvisor the day after it seems other people have had the same problem with this manager. I am 60 years old and been to many restaurants, but never experienced anything so bad and unprofessional.   This should have been a night to cherish as a memory instead it turned out to be a night we will try to forget! Steer clear.

Went with friends, their first visit, probably last! The service is so slow for both drinks and food, we had to ask twice for tap water. The portion sizes are small and therefore everything is very expensive. The goats cheese starter from the specials menu was very good, however, the melanzane was just slices of char grilled aubergine with a few tomatoes, nothing special and certainly not worth the money. Pasta portions were small and the scallop starter had 3 queen scallops.

My review is almost identical to that of bairdo1972. I was incredibly disappointed and the whole experience cast a cloud over a well needed adult only weekend. I apologise if this review is lengthy. We were booked in for a table for two for 20.00 and promptly arrived at 19.50. On arrival we were advised that there was a ‘slight’ delay on food and shown to the bar. We were not in a rush so at this point was unconcerned. Following a 15minute wait we were furnished with some very pleasant drinks and found the bar staff and most of the waiting staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately this was when things started to go downhill. Our food order was taken at 20.30, still in the bar, which was now busy and uncomfortable. My husband wanted fillet Rossini however we were informed that they had run out of fillets but were offered a T bone steak for the same price. I ordered a rib eye and we requested that both were cooked medium. I do not understand how any restaurant can run out of one of their main dishes at 20.30 on a Saturday evening. We were eventually taken to our table at 20.50 and our mixed antipasto starter arrived at 21.10. 70 minutes after our reservation time. At this point we asked to speak to the manager. Our steaks eventually arrived at 21.40 and were woefully undercooked so we sent them straight back despite the very miserable waitress saying that they were medium. There was no attempt at any presentation, just lumps of meet plonked on a plate. 5minutes later our steaks reappeared along with the very rude manger. His initial attitude was confrontational and rapidly descended to rude and aggressive. He accused us of being late, said 1 hour and 50 minutes was an acceptable time to wait, stated that the steaks are always cooked medium rare and we would never have been offered any other way for them to be cooked, he refused to speak to me at first, aiming everything towards my husband but when he did was in my face and threatening. At this point I said we weren’t paying for the steaks. He picked up the dishes and stomped off. My husband and I were very shocked at how a meal together had denigrated into something so unsettling so we left. I would strongly discourage anybody from coming here unless you enjoy waiting, badly cooked beef and lining the pockets of a rude little man.

Visited last night having been here once before. The welcome was lovely but it went downhill from there. My husband ordered steak tartare as a starter, it arrived minced, like a lump of packed minced beef instead of diced and it lacked favour, at £14 it should have been a lot better than it was. I went for calamari, it was probably one of the worst batches of calamari I've ever eaten, the batter was heavy and the calamari was tasteless. Our son opted for mussels from the specials board, nothing wrong with them at all but at £12 for the smallest portion we have ever been served I have to say we were disappointed. Mains were ok ...each of us opting for a pasta dish, nothing great but nothing too shabby either, main moan is small portions. We tried twice to order extra drinks, but the staff managed to evade eye contact and left us ignored. Would have said we wernt happy with meal but no one bothered to ask so I'll say it on here instead. "We were massively underwhelmed with the service and the portion sizes, and sadly wont be back".

Myself my wife and another couple arrived at Al Porto for an evening meal on Saturday night. We have eaten here on 4 other occasions and the food has been delicious every time. After been greeted by the friendly staff we was led to the bar area where we ordered drinks and had a chance to look at the menu. The menu has changed since our last visit and the steaks are now charged per 100g. We ordered our starters and main courses and a short while after we was taken through to our table. The restaurant was quite busy with a great atmosphere. I had ordered the T-bone steak and it was delicious, cooked perfectly to my liking and presented well. Thanks for a great event and we will be back again soon.

Where do i start with my review of this restaurant.

After a year since our last visit we thought we would experiance Al Porto again. The last time the food was amazing and this time Al Porto didnt disappoint either. Great bar/cocktail lounge area and mouth watering food! One of the finest Italian Restaurants in Hull/East Yorks.
