Opens at 08H00, which is good. I have only had the scrambled eggs on toast and found it to be good every time. I notice that they serve bacon. They serve not only traditional Turkish coffee, but good stron western coffee in medium sized cups, which is so much better than the "chain Americanos" that one can encounter elsewhere. There are tables and chairs outside, which are screen from the pavement by a hedge. The toilets have been clean when i have visited them. As I've mentioned elsewhere, with three food outlets, Al-Parco, Kalendar & and the (Gail's) Bakery with slightly different styles and atmospheres, locals & visitors are spoilt for choice at that south east corner of Hampstead Heath. . Juste EXCELLENT. Excellent service.

15 of us turned up for lunch, this did not faze the waiter at all. Very happy to do separate bills. Served us efficiently. I ordered the Seafood Casserole, which was quite frankly gorgeous. Filled to the brim with lots of lovely squid, large prawns, mussels and fish, slightly hot flavour, I would have liked it hotter, but really delicious. Beautifully cooked rice. So tasty. Very friendly customers, good time had by all.

Staff: I read other reviews and people describing the staff as "friendly" I came here a few days ago but I would never have walked away with any impression of a friendly place, nobody was rude, but they literally did their job as expected, and no more, though we had interaction/saw with about 4 staff members in total. Food: Starters, we ordered as a veggie platter which was ample for two to share. It had an mix of different dips and bread and was quite filling. Our mains were a simple pasta dish (which we were happy with) and a pizza. I used to work for a high end independent pizza restaurant, I am sad to say the pizza was very mediocre and I wouldn't bother getting one again. Overall; Value for money, but I'm not dying to go back or anything.

9pm on a hot weekday evening. We were lucky to find a table outside. A lovely cold bottle of rose. Two of us had the lamb skewers. I swapped my rice for salad, absolutely not a problem, & ordered a side of a hot harrisa & cold yogout. Delicious. The third had fish and chips & was very happy! Not quite sure how the two restaurants work.. we were sat outside Al Parco and our lamb dish was definitely Turkish? Initial server a bit daft, but the two gentlemen who then brought our water & took over were superb, professional, helpful & very willing. Great value, great food. Simple, honest, fresh. And fabulous to sit outside :-)

Have been coming here for years and dragging everyone I know over to share the best thin crust generous topped pizza outside of Italy in a very great atmosphere surrounded by smiling staff inside or outside whether in winter or summer. They bake their own bread and you will struggle to stop when combined with the self made humus ;-) When the place is busy you might end up waiting a bit, though this is worth your while with the newly updated wine list which is amazing as well. Definitely worth more than one visit!!

a very pleasant Italian restaurant adjacent to the vast open space of Parliament Hill. In summer or warm spring days customers can eat on the outside patio. The pizzas are very good and there is a fairly extensive wine list.Had a delicious starter salad, better than I have had in a well known chain, it came with a choice of three types of olive or balsamic vinegar. I believe you can book an outside table , or arrive early to get a space!

Don't bother with this place it used to be great. But sadly no longer is. We finally got our wine after 45 minutes. The reason was it was in the basement. 4 of my party ordered pizza which were very average. I mistakenly ordered a mixed grill. The pizzas arrived and I waited over 20 minutes after before I decided to cancel my order. When I questioned the waitress she told me it was cooking and after I cancelled it she came back to tell me it would be 2 minutes. I was left very disappointed with the reasons they gave me for the food not arriving. They really need to treat customers with more respect. I will never go back there and will tell my friends and acquaintances of my experience here. This is one to avoid if you have any self respect.

I ate here with my boyfriend and we were both very disappointed. I'm tired of paying over the odds for lazy tasteless food in London and this place did nothing to change my mind. The first wine we were served was like vinegar, the second passable. He had a beef lasagne with little trace of beef. It was soggy and formless. My hummus was like oily mashed potato and the falafel like fried pebbles. These are basic dishes but they got them so wrong. The service was friendly...I'm afraid that's the only positive.

This place could be so good, but unfortunately at the moment it's terrible! Despite its great location, next to Hampstead Heath and nice al fresco terrace, the experience is complete ruined by stiff pizza with salty "cardboard" cheese and appallingly slow and inattentive service. Ordered a pizza and almost didn't touch it. That cheese! Ugh! Awful. A waste of money and energy. Advice to management: invest in better ingredients and train your staff to give a better service.

This is a Turkish run restaurant with the token Italian serving good pizza but that's it, we paid £2.75 for 4 pieces of garlic bread basically french stick absolute rip off and as for the mixed Italian meat starter rubbish 4 slices of salami few mozzarella balls and some Parma ham and really emerald cooked bacon slices ??? Not Italian at all , when I asked shy the bacon and lack of Italian meats they said this is how we do it at a cost of £8.95 another ripp off, finally we ordered the Italian cooked vegetables , wise not to order this as not much Italian about it at all again very disappointed English mushrooms raw peppers and loads of salad, at this stage we wanted to leave but the kids wanted to have pizza , we waited another 35-45 mins for the pizza to come and when it did it was ok , the staff were nice just its a average pizza place but it's definitely not Italian , if you can be bothered go up the hill to Golders Green and go to lartista Italian and compare like for like dishes , absolutely worlds apart and a dam sight cheaper , I never write reviews but felt I had to as it was a bit of a con , anyway had great company which made it ok hope you find this useful Regards John

We visited with friends for the 1st time, although having walked by it many times while walking off Hampstead Heath. The restaurant offers a pizza and mediterranean menu which is very extensive in fact as others have commented, there is too much choice and one has to wonder if they do all those meals well. Others in our group went for the mediterranean choices, while I wanted to try the Pizza which was very good – thin crust, good toppings etc. For a group of 4 with a bottle of wine and desserts a bill of £100 is very reasonable. In summary a good place to visit as a local restaurant and we will return perhaps for lunch next time.

It's 2 restaurants in 1. A pizza place and a Mediterranean run by the same people and they offer both menus in either restaurant. This is my favourite place for both dinner and breakfast in London. I'm fortunate it's close to where I live, but it's also next to the Heath which is great after a nice walk. Dogs are also welcome and water is provided outside. The pizzas here are the best I've ever had. I also go there regularly for my veggie breakfast which includes hallumi and the best mushrooms! I had the misfortune to eat here last week and I can honestly say it was a truly horrible meal. The pizza was meant to have mushrooms and artichokes on it which I stupidly assumed would be fresh but they were obviously from a jar and were so greasy, really horrible. Service soooo slow. Staff okay apart from one waiter who was just plain rude. Filthy menus with food splattered all over them toilets grimy with no toilet paper. Dark and dingy. Yuk.A nasty experience - just don't go.

The menu boasts all ingredients imported from Italy, but on checking with the waiter, we were told that the sausage on the pizza wasn't 'Italian' sausage, but 'breakfast' sausage (presumably imported from the local Tesco). We had starters of Olives and garlic bread - both priced individually at £2.95. The garlic bread was a sad 5 pieces of toasted baguette which was devoid of garlic whilst the olives were saturated with water/vinegar at a cost price of probably no more than 10p. On the plus side, the wine was tasty (although overall the wine list was over priced) whilst the pizza, great thin crust, but the 'mozarella' seemed to have been 'imported' from the Cheddar gorge! We wanted to support a local restaurant rather than a chain, but next time, it'll be Strada!

This is our local Italian and it's lovely. The food, the pleasingly thin-doughed and crisp pizza especially, is hearty and tasty, the outside seating is a pleasure on a warm evening, and it's very cosy indoors as the weather sets in. Service is warm and friendly if occasionally a little ditzy, but who really cares about that? It's an informal, cheerful place for dinner, and good value. It's co-owned with the Turkish restaurant next door, Bistro Laz, which is also pretty good, so if one of your party doesn't fancy pizza you can just get the Mediterranean menu and help yourself to some kofte or similar.

We have been visiting Al Parco for years now - they have this branch in Highgate, right next door to Hampstead Heath and another in Camden. They do a good range of standard Italian food - pizza, pasta, main courses and salads and all is well cooked and delicious. They have a good pizza oven which turns them out with thin, crispy bases and they put only the freshest ingredients on top. Particular favourites are thr Fiorentina, Vegeteriana and the Funghi. As for pasta, their Napolitana is great and even better is the Arrabiata. There is a good range of salads and main courses and a decent wine and beer menu. They can also offer Turkish / Mediterranean dishes, as they have another café called Bistro Laz right next door - in fact, you can walk between the two. So if you fancy felafel for a starter followed by Spaghetti, it's no problem. They also offer a good range of breakfasts from a Full English to a Mediterranean style breakfast. Service is quick and friendly and prices very reasonable. The inside is cosy and there's also a large covered terrace for warmer days.
