Real Italian restaurant. Careful cuisine, simple but refined. Compliments, the best Italian restaurant in Sheffield.

The food here is top notch. I had the sous vide duck leg and it was genuinely interesting and delicious. It was both earthy and sweet having been made with mushroom and Truffle oil. The duck itself was lovely and tender. And the cannoli was crunchy, sweet, creamy and moorish. We are lucky to have a chef of Mario’s talent here in Sheffield.

Very good, went fairly early hence 4 atmosphere and it takes a lot for me to give 5 for food, but it was excellent quality, cooked well and great staff

La comida y el servicio eran maravillosos y nada era demasiado para ellos para asegurarse de que todo funcionaba sin problemas y todos estaban contentos. Ser capaz de comer absolutamente todo en el menú como un celíaco es algo que es bastante raro y el hecho de que no - nadie más podría decir que la comida era sin gluten es un testimonio de los fabulosos chefs. Genuinely fantastic gluten free food! Cannot recommend this restaurant enough for coeliacs (although none of my non-coeliac friends noticed it was entirely gluten free so everyone had a great time) Nothing was too much trouble for Mario and knowing he is also coeliac made it so easy to relax. There is an extensive menu and so it was hard to choose what to have! We had my 30th birthday dinner there and many people said it was the best meal they’d had in Sheffield. You have to book in advance as it’s so popular with those who’ve discovered it! Highly recommend.

Unfortunately disappointing food. Mine was very salty, partner enjoyed theirs more. Service was average, quite slow on food but friendly and welcoming. Maybe just an off night.

We were a large party, and had a fantastic time. Friendly staff had no problems coping with such a large group. Food was fab: tasty and good portions. And we didn't realise it was gluten free until later -- the bread was delicious!

Traje un grupo grande (26 de nosotros) como parte de un evento de trabajo. Pedimos nuestra comida y fue una de las mejores comidas de trabajo que he tenido. Nos empezaron con el mismo fantástico antipasti que también dio tiempo para que todos llegaran. Había un montón de ella y fue disfrutada por todos. Sirvieron el resto de la comida y todos quedaron contentos e impresionados con el tamaño de las porciones, la calidad y la variedad de nuestra comida. En particular como celíaco me enamoré del lugar, ya que está totalmente libre de gluten desde la focaccia hasta los profiteroles.

Llegamos a las 7: 30 así que no demasiado tarde No es una gran experiencia. Esperó 90 minutos para que llegara el entrante. Realmente no está bien ver a Peolpe entrar tras de ti y ser servido antes que tú. Luego , dos de los platos principales eran muy muy pequeños por lo que pagamos y en comparación con los otros platos. Sospecho que salieron corriendo y partieron un plato principal. No volveremos debido al servicio o debería decir falta de servicio,

poor service We arrived at 7:30 so not too late Not a great experience. Waited 90 minutes for starter to arrive. It's really not ok to see peolpe come in after you and get served before you Then ,two of the main courses were very very small for what we paid and in comparison to the other dishes. I suspect they ran out and split one main dish. We won't be returning due to the service or should i say lack of service,

Really amazing place! The atmosphere is brilliant.. the staff are very welcoming and friendly.. and the food is the absolute best, handmade with passion and skill and the price is very good value! You MUST try! I keep coming back for more!

We fancied trying Sardinian food so booked a Friday night table here. I ordered prosucito and figs with cheese and walnuts followed by a tish stew with rustic bread and an afogato to finish. The service was rather slow, we were told it was because everyone came at once, but with a booking system this should be under control. The starter was not bad but the fig was cold, i think itnhad just come out of the fridge. The fish stew was very tasty and most of the seafood was well cooked with a couple of chewey rings calamari. The "Rustic bread" was very disappointing, it looked and tasted like the end of a tesco home made baguette , pappy, white and very small. I said i was disappointed and was told that it was because it was Gluten free. I would have been happy with a lump of corn bread or some such. The house wine was good and unusual Finally the vanilla Ice cream in the afagato while very nice had Ice Crystals in it which really spoiled it. The staff were nice, though it felt pressured. At £145.00 for two covers I expected more hence my rating. I wanted to enjoy this night out.

Acabo de descubrir este lugar. ¡Realmente es el cielo celíaco! Solo poder relajarme sabiendo que Mario también es celíaco y todo es seguro para mí no tenía precio. Me tomó siglos elegir entre el extenso menú, ya que estoy tan acostumbrado a tener solo una o dos comidas para elegir. Opté por el entrante de anchoa y los raviolis para mi principal, con una pastelería frita de postre. Todos estaban absolutamente perfectamente cocinados y presentados y el vino blanco de Cerdeña era hermoso. Lo mejor de todo es que yo también podía probar la comida de mi marido, y como no era celíaco, estaba igual de impresionado con la comida, especialmente el bistec, que estaba cocinado a la perfección. Fantástico servicio y gran ambiente. Gracias a Mario, Giovanna y al equipo. ¡Volveremos!

I had an excellent time here would 100% recommend. Was excellent to have a GF menu, the pasta was fresh and the seafood cooked well and the cake was wonderful too! It is however a little warm in summer though.

Had my anniversary dinner here and everything was perfect! Excellent service and the food was to die for. I left not a single drop of my sauce 😌

Had such a lovely experience at Akentannos! Firstly, they readily made the alterations in my booking, and on the night, the food was so tasty and fresh (I recommend the Vellutata)!! Lovely service and atmosphere! The fact my friends told the waitress that it was my Birthday for her to then come out with a candle in my Affogato dessert and singing Happy Birthday (whereby the whole restaurant joined in) was a cute touch. A nice place to treat yourself on any occasion. I’ll be back!

Akentannos is a lovely little restaurant Akentannos is a Sardinian restaurant located in Sheffield, UK. It was recommended to me by friends for offering authentic Sardinian cuisine, who raved about the food including dishes like pane carasau, malloreddus, and porceddu. We enjoyed the cosy atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious traditional food. If you're in Sheffield and craving Sardinian cuisine, it's worth giving Akentannos a try!

I would highly recommend Akentannos. The restaurant is lovely with a great atmosphere . The food is beautiful, I had the seafood pappardelle it was top draw.

Eaten here three times and on all 3 occasions the food and staff have been outstanding , ordered the rabbit stew and it was absolutely delicious , expensive so we have tended to go for an anniversary meal but it’s worth every penny. Staff are always lovely and informative too.

My review title says "fantastic evening" because everything was just perfect. The food was superb - imaginative, tasty, beautifully presented and all part of a massive menu. To nail that level of quality across such a big menu was incredible. The wine, (Cannonau Riserve) was really special and it was lovely to have such a range of Sardinian options (I know that is what you would expect in a Sardinian restaurant, but they nailed it just the same.) And the service was perfect. It was super attentive without being intrusive - cheerful, helpful and rounded off the evening perfectly. They just nailed everything, and we all had a fantastic evening. No photos I'm afraid as we were too busy enjoying ourselves!

Very disappointing. Food was very bland - the lamb mince tomato sauce that came on both our mains tasted like it came from a tin. No salt and pepper on the table to try and improve the flavour. Highlight was the deserts, both were nice. Service was VERY slow, 2 of us and ended up there for 2hr 15mins. No fault of the waitress, she was was the only serving staff member for the whole restaurant! The chef had to help out with serving - hopefully this was due to staff sickness and not the restaurant understaffing to save money. Overall would not reccomend and would not go back, which is shame because it isn't cheap, yet the food was worse than Wetherspoons!

The starter and mains were nice but the restaurant was let down by the desserts and the service.. The restaurant was cold and whilst eating our desserts we were told that there was a time limit on our table of 2 hours.... We were hurried to eat our desserts and then at one point told to leave.... We left and then we checked our online booking there was zero mention of a 2 hour window either in our confirmation email or on their website.... We will never return just based on this.... When they realised we were nearly finished they clearly wanted to get the next lot in who were waiting... There was plenty of empty tables and they could have even pushed two together.... I wouldn't recommend it at all based on my experience.

The worst dining experience I've ever had ,2hrs wait for food ,awful wine even the bottled beer was awful and terrible service what a waste of money .

Very highly recommend everything about this little gem of a place. Would definitely go out of my way to visit again. Only reason for the 4 for the food is that entrees seemed to be more for people who want an entree, than for being stand out dishes on their own. Which is nice if you're wanting a starter and they need to be there for that and they were good. It's just the mains* we had were so good, that we felt the entrees - though good - disappointed in comparison. So yes, it's the mains and especially the traditional ones that really are the highlight - and the nice simple salad, might look simple but is perfect for the robust flavours of the mains. And reminded me of the salads of the Mediterranean, designed to sit nicely beside the big flavours of the cooked dishes. This is a place that is definitely on our list to return to - and we don't live anywhere near Sheffield. * Malloreddus con Sugo di Agnello Traditional Sardinian, shell-shaped pasta served with delicious sauce made with fillet of lamb, tomato sauce, little chilli and fennel seeds. Topped with sardinian pecorino cheese shavings. Pane Frattau Pane Frattau is a typical dish and traditional Sardinian based on layers of Sardinian bread “pane carasau”, softened using meat broth, served with lamb sauce and pecorino cheese. Topped with free range poached egg. (I appreciated the option to be vegetarian and am keen to try that next time but wanted to try the traditional version this time) As a final note: they have a vegan menu that actually looks well thought through that I'd like to try, as I usually really appreciate the option not to eat meat and diary and to have a variety of options. But as this was our first time, I wanted to try the traditional versions first.

Always an amazing meal and fantastic atmosphere! All the staff are brilliant and Mario gets the flavours just right! Catered for 14 hungry people perfectly!

I generally don’t understand why this restaurant isn’t on the Michelin guide. Every single visit the food is fantastic and the staff are wonderful. Our last visit was for the Sardinian- Japanese fusion evening which was absolutely lovely. I cannot wait for our next visit!

the food was fabulous my poor rating is about the customer care, booked my table for 6 15pm, I arrived on time, food came late both starter and main took some time, then they started harassing me for the table back at 8pm, I can understand the need to turn a table however to approach a customer and not even offer any sort or compensation or allowance perhaps a free coffee or dessert, its not my fault the food was late out, I held my part of the deal, really disappointed it spoilt a lovely evening, we had some great food & wine, I spent a tiny sum in the restaurant to be turfed out on my ear, I literally felt ran out the door , poor poor customer service.

Lovely food and atmosphere and table service. However was moved to a new table and was made to feel rushed out the restaurant. No consideration was given by the manager which we felt was very inconsiderate.

Our second visit to this gorgeous restaurant, we haven't been since 2019 and it was just as good as last time. A lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and the menu has plenty of choice for all dietary types. We chose a brushetta starter to share, followed by two special mains. A gorgeous creamy pasta dish and a melt in your mouth pork belly. Our waiter was so attentive and friendly and the chef came out to make sure everything was okay after our meal which was a lovely touch.

I've been to a lot of restaurants in Sheffield, and a lot of Italian restaurants all over. This is the best. It's a really simple review. Go here. The food is absolutely exceptional, staff friendly, down to earth, and attentive. 10/10. We had three courses each, and every single course for every single person (9 different dishes) were just as good as each other.

Was a last minute choice to come based on the expectational reviews rating but overall was not worth the hype and over priced. The food itself was prepared and cooked well but I ordered the beef cheeks with potatoes (mumma’s special) which was 95% meat and was very oily and salty. Over powered the veg and made it soggy. It made Everything taste the same and was quite disappointing. The red wine was really nice and my wife ordered the pasta was was also nice but nothing was blow your head off I must eat here again. We were also celebrating our first dinner as a married couple and perhaps this isn’t relevant but it would have been good to offer some small token gesture to mark the experience. We’ve since been elsewhere who have done so and if you are expecting to keep a 4.6 star rating you should be going the extra mile. Overall okay but wouldn’t go back there. More like a 3-4 star place. Also the wait was 2 hours for a 2 course meal but that didn’t bother us

Fantastic quality food - hence we continue to return time and time again! Expect a wait at busy service times as everything is prepared from scratch to order. Would recommend the sharing platter to kick things off while you wait for your main dish.

It’s been a while since I visited but it was amazing. The service and food is some of the best you’ll get in Sheffield.

We had an amazing evening at Akentannos! All the food was delicious, we had the house wine which was very nice and the aperol spritz was the best I’ve had in Sheffield (or anywhere!) the staff are lovely and you can tell the chef really cares. What a find, I love this restaurant! The food is superb, the baked aubergine starter was divine and the sea bass cooked to perfection. The menu had loads of imaginative vegetarian and vegan options to choose from and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. At the end of the evening the delightful chef introduced himself and spoke to every table. Can’t wait to go back!

I went with friends to celebrate their birthdays. We had pre ordered our food but had to wait one and a quarter hours for it to arrive. When it eventually arrived my meal which was Polpo Gamberone & Branzino alla Piastra (£25 not an inexpensive dish) the octopus was so tough I couldn’t cut it. So I told the waiter who took it away. The meal was brought back after quite sometime, when my friends had mostly finished their meals. The octopus was burnt, I still struggled to cut it and it was rubbery.The sea bass was over cooked and dry. The king prawn was not prepared and cleaned properly. The chef asked me was I happy. When I explained my concerns he said I should have used a sharper knife and did not apologise nor offered any compensation. Overall it was the worst meal I have ever had and It was overpriced. The customer service was appalling. I would not recommend this restaurant at all for the quality of its food nor the service.

Double birthday celebration. Drinks were very expensive (£10.50 for gin and tonic which is more expensive than London prices £7.20 as at March 2023). We'd pre-ordered our meals but had to wait for an hour and a quarter. Difficult to say what went wrong with food and service as I have eaten here before and it was lovely. It was disappointing overall this time. I'm hoping the owners will review the night's events and make swift changes to ensure better quality and service as it's a busy and popular restaurant.

I stayed at the Kenwood Hall hotel and decided to go for a walk to see what was available locally. I cannot believe I stumbled over this restaurant while I was trying to find Eccleshall Road. A fish-lover’s delight - I had anchovies to start and a most succulent sea bass for my main course. Delightful surroundings and very friendly staff. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. A real find.

Akentannos is an incredibly friendly restaurant with absolutely gorgeous food. As someone with very awkward dietary requirements, Mario and the team were so understanding and managed to make the most delicious meal I have had in ages! Highly recommend the Sardinian white wine too. Thank you for great service, fab food and a lovely night! Thanks again - cannot wait to return (alot!)

The atmosphere, the food, the staff make it a beautiful place to be. The quality of the food is never compromised. Don't go to be in a rush ..... the magnificent service runs in true Sardinian relaxed style.

This restaurant is on the world stage. I cannot speak too highly. The variety, catering to vegetarians vegans, pescatarians and meat lovers, while adhering faithfully to a rich cultural heritage, is in the first place delicious and leaves one feeling both sated and amazing, no matter your appetite.... and hungry for more. A jem, a treat, a privilege. Thank you, Mario and staff.

Delicious authentic Sardinian food, amazing service & staff there - so kind and attentive. It was my mum's 60th birthday and they were so accommodating and wonderful, even though we were late leaving the restaurant after it had closed, they never rushed us. The food was incredible - I can't wait to come back!

My food was really nice as was my friends but my partners was so salty he couldn't eat it all. The building was cold.

We visited Akentannos on Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and had a warm and friendly atmosphere. We ordered cocktails to start, my negroni was one of the best I’ve had! The food was absolutely superb, freshly cooked and delicious. I’d highly recommend the fish stew! Authentic Sardinian dishes and vibe. The waiting staff were efficient and couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

What an amazing experience we had here. We asked the owner/cook to suprise us off menu and came up with beautyfull dishes. Service was spot-on, interactive owner/cook and a wonderfull waiteress. If you ever visit Sheffield try Akentannos! Thank me later!

The food took longer to arrive than I might have hoped however it was delicious when it arrived. So it was definitely worth the wait. A real welcoming and friendly atmosphere within as well. Really enjoyed our dinner.

As a true Sardinian I could not resist trying Akentannos when i heard of it and I must say I wasn't disappointed one bit. In fact, quite the opposite. Akentannos serves dishes that my nonna would have made, and they taste just like they should. So I highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant to anyone who wants to try authentic sardinian cuisine. I'll be back myself!

I had the absolute pleasure of eating at Akentannos last Wednesday, and I can honestly say that it is the best meal I've had since I came back to the UK 4 years ago. My wife had the seafood spaghetti, I had the salmon, and our children shared the lamb pasta, so I got a taste of three of the main dishes (plus chips/vegetables on the side), and they were all fantastic. Freshly prepared food made to perfection. I've noticed a couple of complaints about the price and the time you have to wait for your food, but for me, that's just the nature of the beast. If you want freshly prepared food down to the sauces, you're going to have to accept it's going to take longer/be more expensive than going to Prezzo. I will be more than happy to wait again next time I'm in Sheffield.

We went to Akentannos for a nice Saturday lunch. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive in the table after we had ordered. The pasta was nice but was quite cooled and the sides were extremely small (almost £6 per side). One of the sides were ordered was roast potatoes with rosemary. However what arrived was a very small boiled potato with no flavour whatsoever (not even salted). The same was true for the pan fried artichoke side. We used to come here quite frequently however standards have significantly dropped. We are extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

Great food which, due to its Sardinian origin, is a bit different to the normal Italian restaurants, friendly informed and helpful staff. This was my second visit and will go again.

I feel extremely disappointed and sightly angry, I had high hopes based on the reviews. I told the waitress that I don't eat bread and asked for guidance, there were a few items that didn't include bread but was told where included it couldn't be swapped for something else. I had the starter I wanted and left the bread it was very small for the price but I enjoyed it. The main I chose (rabbit) which was recommended had no mention of bread and was told by the waitress it didn't include it, but arrived with a huge piece and a small amount of meat. After they came to see how my meal was I voiced my disappointment, they just apologised but didn't seem bothered. It was quite an expensive meal and I ended up buying a takeaway on the way home as I was so hungry.
