Our favourite Indian restaurant in Sheffield! This is always mine and my boyfriend’s go-to Indian restaurant. We’ve dined in and had takeaways from Akbar’s and never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, staff are really friendly and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere to dine in. Would definitely recommend!

Great welcome, service was friendly, fast and professional. Food was superb, one of us couldn't finish due to the portion size but tasted amazing. The other didn't want to stop eating and would of licked the plate clean.

Food was great. My friend and I hadn't been to Akbar's for quite a while so we were really looking forward to having a meal here. The wait was worth it! Excellent service, in particular Siad, who went above and beyond to help us and still recognised us even though it must have been well over a year since we last visited, so that was really nice of him. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing. Honestly, you could quite easily sit back, relax and take a nap with the soothing low lighting a comforting general atmosphere! Overall, a wonderful night out for the both of us and, we promise, we won't leave it so long before our next visit!

As a regular Akbars customer the service has been nice and food as well but my last visit was particularly memorable thanks to a new member of staff, I believe his name was Vinesh. He was extremely polite and courteous and went above and beyond to make the experience memorable.

Appalling food, service and quantity

The food is not up to par here anymore. Overly spicy from raw red chilli powder. Being Asian, we understand the feeling of raw red chilli powder well, it should be well cooked into the dish until the oil comes through and the bhuna is complete. These guys are using a base gravy and adding in red chilli powder to make it “apna style” for an Asian person. No, that doesn’t make it apna style, it makes it unbearable as if someone is poking needles in your head. This isn’t an authentic curry house - and as a side note, shrinkflation is hugely on offer. £8 now for a family sized garlic naan now, and a seekh kabab portion is now one Kabab cut in half when previously it was 2 whole kababs. Step your cooking skills up lads, this isn’t the Akbars of old.

Worst biryani I've ever had in my life it's was just a pile of rice with king prawns in it that were so tough could chew them I left it and told waiter and he brought a doggy bag just said I don't want it. My friends naan was dry hardly no garlic or cheese on it. Her lamb was tough as well

Went there with my parents, brother and my husband, the food was absolutely amazing, i loved the spice level, a bit spicy but a good spicy , very tasty. The service was good too, we had 'Shuaib' attend to us and he provided amazing service

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. The food was fresh and delicious. For the mains I had ordered the Seafood Balti (Chefs Speciality dish). That was fab. The meat biryani was quite standard but it didn't taste as if it was prepared on the day. Apart from that the restaurant delivered great service and food was good.

However, the service was quick and attentive, and the staff was friendly, which made for a pleasant atmosphere. Overall, while the food might not impress in terms of taste and complexity, Akbar is a reasonable choice if you’re looking for good service and a simple meal.

Having been before, we were disappointed in the food which was bland and, beyond the 'heat' tastless. Staff were very attentative but tables of very noisy 'Friday-Nighters' spoiled the atmosphere.

We went there with a high expectation but we were disappointed. The chicken biriyani was smelling and it was cold. Seemed like it was made a long ago. We complained to the manager, the manager had a chat with the chef and guess what he said the biriyani is good and fresh cooked and it tasted good to him !!!!!!!! Unbelievable

I recently visited Akber Restaurant in Sheffield for dinner and had a wonderful experience. I ordered Chana Paneer, Dal Tadka, and Samosa Chaat, and each dish was delicious! The flavors were authentic. The Chana Paneer had a rich and flavorful sauce, the Dal Tadka was perfectly spiced, and the Samosa Chaat was a delightful mix of textures and tangy flavors. What really made the evening special was the exceptional service. I had the pleasure of being served by Bilal, whose attention to detail and warm hospitality truly stood out. He went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Highly recommend Akber Restaurant for both the food and the top-notch service. I will definitely be returning...!

Been and had onion bajas and a chicken tikka massage curry .been b4 n said wouldn't go again but had to as it was one of my family's birthday. Well I will not be visiting no more .horrible food the worst bajas and curry I've ever had and I lv my currys.the drinks r way to expensive.the chef needs to learn ow to do proper idian food .yak

Please don't come here. I wish I could give 0 stars. The management was rude. I don't know why they are venting out on customers. I went with my friends, on Saturday. The service was bad. The food, omg it's horrible. No one is explaining the dish quantity or what we are ordering. They just bring something and force us to eat. One of the statement the manager said 'This is how we make'. That's very rude. That's not the way to talk to a customer who is paying more than £50. But he deducted the price money. That is good. The atmosphere is too dim and depressing. Loud as well.

Great quality food, brilliant staff

Food was nice but the prices have gone sky high nearly £100 for 2 people and 1 kids meal 1 l round of drinks (pepsi) what would usually be about £45 from a takeaway also when 20 people go and it all gets put on 1 bill having to figure out how much you owe n who's had what is ridiculous so stressful definitely the last time I'll be using them

Absolutely brilliant. Delicious food and drinks, lots of choices, including vegetarian - the Mushroom Paneer Balti was one of the best curries I've ever tasted! Smart yet comfortable decor, spotlessly kept, fast service, friendly helpful staff, very highly recommended.

Waiter, staff, and ambiance were fine. However, the balti was mediocre and the “dal makhani” - which wasn’t dal makhani at all - was probably the worst thing with lentils I’ve ever had in my life. Wrong dal - was chana - and the preparation was completely wrong, turned out a crazy orange red color and was super sweet. The one thing in the restaurant’s favor was that our waiter did kindly warn us about it, we stupidly still ordered it bc I had been craving dal makhani. They should call the dish sweet chickpeas and it would be ok - but to call it dal makhani is an atrocity. :/

For a Londoner it was over rated on reviews, meat was quality but lacked the flavour for my taste buds

Tried to dine in, sadly experienced such racist behaviour from the next table and managers ignoring their behaviour, gave us no option but made to feel that had to leave and pay in full for what we’d had. Awaiting a response from head office. That aside the food was good and the waiter was good, albeit nervous and intimidated as us!

Decor 10/10 very modern Unfortunately Food was a let down Starter : Fish Pakora (batter was very hard not very well seasoned) Lamb Chops - delicious highly recommend Mains: keema karahi, chicken karahi both were very bland portion sizes good Naan was very tough stogey and not very tasty. Excellent service and good atmosphere in this curry house located in the West One Complex. Outside looking in it looks small but I was surprised by large size of the restaurant when I went inside. Food is good. Family naan is huge. Butter chicken is good. I was disappointed with the palak paneer (spinach with cheese) as I found it too oily. Was informed later I could have requested for less oil.
