Akash in Wellingborough

We had a super meal with our two friends. Nice decor in the restaurant too. We always use Akash for delivery, and it is always good.

Aalo chat is actually a puri aalo sabji And the chicken tikka masala was awful it tastes all sugar

My Partner Karen and I had a takeaway from Akash The food was great I like spicey and Karen likes mild, We have food from here quite a few times and it gets better we always would go here if we are having an Indian

Went Saturday with friends should have known when walked in was one table being used rest was empty. Service was not good food bland looked better than it tasted

Passing through from Birmingham and stopped at Akash and we were not disappointed! Super friendly waiter and quick service. The food was delicious with lots to choose from and different combinations at not that expensive Portion sizes where just right as sometimes other resturants serve too much Would recommend to anyone in the area! Worth a visit!

Avoid this restaurant!! Sent the wrong food, argued with me about it because they didn't want to own up to their mistake. The guy on the phone kept talking over me trying to convince us we were wrong. Food took 1.5 hours to come. First and last time for us. **Updated when I finished arguing with the guy I found a metal staple on the top of the chicken tikka ceylon

Staff outing from Oxford Street Therapy Centre. We enjoyed a wonderful supper, great food, dishes all arrived together and fantastic value with their ‘Banqueting Night’ menu super deal. Highly recommended.

i ordered grilled chicken tikka they gave me sweet yogurt with it 😃😃 nonsense, palak paneer was yak so awful,🤮🤮 no spices raw spinach leaves and onions not cook property you can't even put in mouth, waiter was so rude when i complained about food, telling me that 'what i give you is enough' 😡😡

We had a much better meal than anticipated. We used to regularly visit this restaurant when we first moved here, three decades ago! Then with kids in tow we strayed away to country pubs and such. So having booked a table at the new Italian by the Tithe Barn and finding it shut when we arrived we had to find an alternative. We voted and Akash won. The food was very good, high quality, generous and ace value: popadoms starter, five mains, rice, veg sides, nans, two pints, large red wine, large sparkling water all in £108.00 + tip and the food was great. So we will make much more use of Akash once again especially their Wednesday and Sunday evening ‘banquet’ deal - see photo. And I am a fussy so and so. The food took a while to arrive but the quality justified that. The loo is very clean and smart. Staff polite and attentive.

Very good quality food, great value, attentive staff. Not been here for years and was most impressed. Very good ‘Banquet Night’ deal for Wednesday and Sunday nights. I will return frequently.

Totally tasteless, really disapointing. Will not be back, may as well have gone to Tesco for a ready meal, it would have been tastier.

They need to polish up on customer service, walked out and never had any food.

Food was extensively greasy and not very tasty! It was too rich to eat it all so we asked to take leftovers home… only to be told it was not possible. I guess my leftovers were either used for someone else’s meal or binned, both not acceptable! I will not be returning to this restaurant!

Excellent food with good attentive service. Attractively priced food served hot with all meals ordered arriving at the same time.

The service was very slow bearing in mind there were only four customers in the restaurant. My starter arrived when my wife’s starter was finished!!! We had mixed shish kebab, poppadom’s with chutneys (paid for). Lemon rice and vegetable jalfezi. Keema rice and mixed meat jalfezi (only lamb in it). Also, chickpea curry. All was going well the food was really yummy. And thought we will deffo bring family and friends here. As we could not eat everything, we asked for doggy bags. It went downhill after this. My wife asked the manager, we would like to take some of the chutneys away with us. The manager said no, if you want chutneys to take home you have to pay for them. My wife pointed out we have already paid for them and will not be paying again for them. The manager became quite argumentative. t the end of the day, those chutneys are contaminated and would end up in the bin, what a waste. So, to end a lovely meal, my wife ended up with no chutneys. We will not be coming again. Nor would we recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

The food wasn't good don't know about the customer service. Probably won't order from that restaurant again. Because of the food didn't taste good enough.

So so disappointing! We ordered a delivery. The food was shockingly bad, the chat was not a chat it was a puree. The chicken tikka masala was just awful, I had to spit it out. The sauce had gone bad, there was a vinegar taste to it and just tasted like sugar. There was a weird grittiness to the sauce as well like bits of sand. First time trying and NEVER again! Probably going to be throwing up tonight now, thanks Akash!

Discusting food, we ordered king prawn buryani and the prawn were tiny with the tails left on. We had the chutney and onion salad for starters and the chutneys had pieces of poppadoms left in them so it was clearly re used from another customer that hadn't finished it and theybe just affed more and re used it !!!! Never will I eat here again....

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! We have been eating at the Akash for about 30 years. This is not the same restaurant & food! This restaurant has changed ownership. We didn't like the "new look" of the place, it felt very much like a cafe & the lighting was harsh & not cosy. The food was ok, nothing to complain about but the depth of flavour & quality of the dishes was simply absent. The meat was in quite small pieces & didnt have that intense marinated flavour. It tasted like plain cooked chicken dropped in a thin sauce...quite frankly I can do that & better at home. As I say, nothing in particular to complain about per se, but compared to the previous quality & flavour of the food, it appears to have departed with the original owners. The staff were attentive & friendly. The pricing no longer reflects the quality of food. This feels like a more commercialised restaurant tather than the previous traditional family run restaurant. We are sad to say this after 30 years of memorable meals with friends & family, but we won't be back. This restaurant is under new management so don't read older reviews.

Wrost experience Not Great quality food as compared to price yeah but staff was good even drinks they charged like 3£ for small soft drinks but not even gas in it I'm not recommended at all

So disappointed - we’ve used Akash for takeout for over 20 years. Each dish came in a sauce of same consistency, all a bit sloppy & non distinct. Has the chef changed? We will have to find a different Indian takeout as so disappointed. It’s such a shame

This was the worse Indian we have ever had and will definitely not be returning , was shouted at by the manager, the food was tasteless and off colour and will definitely not be returning or recommending to anybody !! Avoid this place at all cost !!! So many more places to choose from on the same street , amazed they are still open and allowed to trade disgusting food had so much better up the road

Went here on a rainy night after reading reviews. One of us is gluten free, so was happy to find they are quite knowledgeable. Lovely food too - all really good quality, hot and very tasty. Highly recommend - great value, friendly staff.

Big NOOOO Not suggested .......They wear white shirts but have no idea how to maintain cleanliness. They making food with very dirty hands. Not hygienist. One who is not from hygienist background doesn’t know how to maintain hygiene food. Please do not take kids with you because kids are sensitive. I will not suggest anyone to go there or have food.

A really good, proper Indian restaurant, great food and great service.

Ate in restaurant lovely then got a take away the food tasted nice but the chicken is processed so wont be spending money on meat again there and portions r smaller compared to most other places. The Sag aloo could be improved not enough spinach and the potatoes are not that nice. This is coming from someone that loves indian food and has eaten from loads of places with experience and mixes with the culture. i wil stick to le spice and voujon locally thanks. Have ordered again in 2022 chicken still processed balti is swimming in oil and sagg has too much oil let down

Lovely meal as always. Have tried a few different things this time and thoroughly enjoyed them. Staff are great. Service can be slow sometimes but the food always makes up for it!

I only wrote a review a couple of months ago but felt the Akash deserved another 5* recognition. The food is just superb. It’s fresh tasting, full of flavour and I can’t get enough of the naan bread. We had a lovely young waiter on Thursday who was super polite and welcoming. All in all, it’s just a great place to eat and I can highly recommend!

Excellent food and hospitality: As a solo business traveler I had prawn puri, with the Ceylon king prawn being a different dish for myself, which is very spicy but with the delicate taste of coconut. Chapatis and pilau rice of been freshly prepared.

Very nice food, we are not local to the area so this was a one off visit. The staff were very friendly. The drinks menu could be improved slightly, ie no ciders. We were offered complementary additions to our order and other items e.g. coffees. We would visit again if we were in the area without hesitation.

Lovely curry, delivery can be slow at times, but the food is worth the wait!

My first time here in over 20 years as I have just moved back to the area and I wasn't disappointed. The food was both fresh and flavoursome and without a doubt, the best naan bread I have ever had. It was so light and airy and was like eating a pillow, compared to many other restaurants where they are dry and crispy. We will definitely be back!

Came for a meal last night and was absolutely blown away. The food was beyond amazing, absolutely delicious and extremely well cooked. The chutneys with the poppadoms we’re so fresh and yummy. I had the Bengal chicken to try somethin different and now have a new favourite, The meat in the lamb sag was so soft and pretty much melted in your mouth and the tandoori mixed grill had 2 very happy men but the end. Couldn’t fault a single thing! Took a menu for delivery as will definitely be ordering at home! It was the best I’ve had in a long long time!

This restaurant really is a hidden gem, small and unassuming from the street you enter into a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Greeted by pleasant and well mannered staff who are eager to please and give you an experience to remember. Both times I have dined here the food has been delicious. Non greasy and made with the freshest of ingredients just how indian cuisine should be. Note for anyone looking to book a table here, Do Not Rely on the online booking system as this does not always relay the correct information, just give them a call to book a table you wont regret it.

45 mins late and cold, if I wanted a microwave meal I'd have gone to Tesco's. Delivery man had some decency though, very apologetic.

We visited the Akash on 8th August - our first meal out together since lockdown. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the food was fist class and the staff were brilliant.The choices on the menu are extensive and we know from experience that each one is excellent, We have been customers of the Akash for a number of years and have never been disappointed, Yesterday was no exception.Attention to detail, friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, the atmosphere and the great food made for a lovely evening, and one where we felt completely comfortable with each aspect.We will be going back very soon

The 'spiciest' cheese chilli naan I've had in Wellingborough, if it was stuffed cheese rather than covered on top would be much better There is alot of options on the menu The aloo chaat wasn't what I expected nevertheless it was primarily potato The chicken pieces on the sizzler was ultra tender almost like butter, the lamb was slightly overcooked only just The server was very pleasant and kind, The issue I would have is the serve time as did take around almost 40min for sizzler to come amount I would say place needs to advertise more as was pretty quiet

Decent curry although the restuarnt lacked atmosphere. Probably better if you eat with a larger group.

One of the worst takeaways .We ordered spicy food the food was very blunt and we spoke to them about it they are very rude and they said they are running it for 40 years cant believe how they are doing .Never going to order food from them .Also please save your money dont order food from them

Never been to Wellingborough before but we were visiting for a concert. I must admit as we approached Akash, my heart sank as the shop front is, to say the least, unprepossessing in an old fashioned town centre street. Don’t be fooled though. The staff were very friendly, the service efficient and I have to say, the meal was one of the best I have ever had in an Indian restaurant. There were 10 of us and, without exception, everyone had a great meal. If I’m in Wellingborough area again, it will be first choice for a return visit.

Just had a lovely meal service was excellent my sons mixed grill looked delicious I had meat curry which was very nice just the right heat very tasty my daughter had prawn curry she said she wouldn't eat it all but finished the lot! Would highly recommend

Just enjoyed a lovely meal with my family here tonight. Service was excellent, staff were so helpful and friendly made us all feel really welcome. We were all treated with exceptional service. The food was delicious. We didn't have a starter but popadums and main courses. All was cooked to a high standard and tasted amazing. We shall definitely be back soon. Many thanks

Good food and really friendly staff. The staff will always be happy to help and have a conversation with you. Toilets are nice and it's a clean restaurant. They have lots to chose from and all is really delicious. Great place for good food.

Having travelled extensively in the UK and frequently eating curry, this Indian restaurant continues to give complete satisfaction. Excellent service,food and value in pleasant friendly surroundings. Consistency in maintaining high standards over a long period of time is their key to success and long may it continue for the benefit of all.Recommend you always book for weekends.

We have been to this restaurant 6 or 7 times now and I haven’t reviewed it until now. The reason for waiting is I wanted to see how consistent the food quality was. I’m happy to say it’s excellent!! I have tried several of the many dishes on the menu and can recommend everything I have tried. I have been eating curry up and down the country for over 30 years and this is up there with the best. The food is always tasty never overly salted and beautifully spiced. The chef is clearly on the ball. I would recommend this restaurant to curry novices and aficionados without hesitation. With a picky vegetarian wife and a young daughter with a developing palate the staff have always got it right. Well done Akash, I hope to have a long lasting relationship with you for many years to come!!

Amazing food as always, had 2 bring doggy bag home as couldnt leave food but had no more room for it, staff was friendly n welcoming, had many meals here n will do many more times, absolutely love akash x

We went for a meal as my son was swimming locally for a gala.The chicken was over cooked and dry and you get just enough rice for two people. ( don’t go hungry.I asked for a second glass of sparking sparkling water 3 times before I finally got it. They seem to get most of their business from take away people and delivery drivers constantly walking in watching you eat your food.The sign on the door said they take Amex and the folder they bring the bill in is branded AMEX yet they asked us if we had another card! If they don’t want to accept it remove the sign.Overall not happy, Never again

I don’t need to get all wax lyrical when giving my review of the food from Akash so I’ll get straight to the point. Hands down these were the BEST Curries I have ever had the pleasure of eating in the whole of Northamptonshire by far!!! The king prawns were sweet, huge and plenty of them! The chicken was so moist I made some very inappropriate noises eating it!! Lol I’m craving another curry already!!! I shall be back Akash!!! It’s also worth a mention about the wonderfully friendly staff too! They really look after you!

I have known the Akash for over 30 years and the food has been consistently good that is until today It was so disgracefully bad that I was driven to phone them as I suspected the business had been sold. The good news is that it hasn’t been sold but the chef is on vacation and won’t be back for 4 weeks For those of us that love the Akash I would suggest steer clear until March seriously it was disgusting My only credit is for the staff who have always been curteous and helpful and pleasingly the staff have not changed I’ll now go and have some cheese and biscuits and I suggest we all do the same until March

Wide selection of curries although it would be better if a mixed starter was available. Best point is the mark up on the wine is minimal so this is FANTASTIC value. Regularly go here on a weekend.

We went with friends as it was convenient for us all to meet there. First time visit for all of us, and as soon as we walked in we were impressed with the beautiful white table linen and serviettes. The staff were very courteous and the food and drinks were wonderful. Three biriyanis and one vegetarian. The portions are big and we were pleased only to have poppadums and no starters. Two of us had ice cream desserts and we received free hot drinks. It was a great place to be to meet friends and catch up.

The food is by far the best in Welly, it’s clean, non oily, exactly how Indian food should be! Incredible value for money, knocks everyone else into a cocked hat!! The owner has such impeccable manners too! Knows how to treat everyone, deserves to be successful !! Love the food!

Dropped by on spec and was very glad I did - the food was excellent, service was good but not "in your face" and the price was far, far less than I expected.

A friend and myself needed a meal after a day out and we came across the Akash. We were made to feel welcome by the staff and the service was excellent. A wide choice of dishes available at good prices. We enjoyed our food and could not fault anything. I would eat here again if I was in the area.

Popped in for an evening meal for two at about 8pm on a Sunday. Greeted immediately and given a nice table Service was good and so was the food. Plenty choice on the menu, I had the tandoori special grill selection. Was not expensive. I would go again.

What good is a meal delivered without the rice , especially when you phone up and they say remind me next time. So i eat the curry on its own? Sadly its not the first time this has hapoened. Time to change restaurant.
