Akasaka in Milton Keynes

Had the California Sushi and a Spicy Chicken dish. Very nice indeed. Table was well layered, very well presented.

Excellent sushi!! Very fresh and a great variety of fish.

Booked the bbq thinking it would be fun. But it was fun in a kind of enforced way, like a corporate away day with people you despise. Quality of food is excellent and the table bbq looks a serious bit of kit. Unfortunately, our waitress Nisha was VERY adamant that we couldn’t turn the bbq any higher than the lowest setting, resulting in disappointing food. Sod this - we decided and cranked the heat up, resulting in decent bulgogi and steak. Nisha had other ideas. What happened next was akin to the giant girl robot in Squid Games, whereby GREEN LIGHT - we’d whip the heat up when our waitress was elsewhere. RED LIGHT - Nisha would shout at us and turn the grill to the lowest setting. This went on for sometime and did result in some decent food until our waitress threatened us that ‘the owner is downstairs’ and us having fun; or even cooking food to a decent quality - would not be tolerated. I was expecting the owner to come up dressed in a boiler suit and a mask with triangle on it to shoot my wife in the face - this didn’t happen, which is a shame as I’d like to have quizzed him on the ‘inadequate ventilation and extraction’ vs ‘putting in 8 bbq tables in what is basically an office’ debate, and also - ‘maybe train your waiting staff some manners’.

We joined for Korean BBQ and it was amazing. Great instructions, good care of the hot plate, wonderful service. Lush food, great atmosphere and good price for the amount you get. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and was there for hours. Would definitely go again!

It's a great restaurant. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the Korean BBQ is a fun and delicious experience not to be missed.

Don't really want to put other people off visiting the venue. However we found the place to be quite chilly when seated.. the portion sizes for the starter were small and some what bland.. Main courses were a lot better. And we enjoyed it.. Drinks would appear to be higher than average. I can say we've been and experienced but wont return. Sorry but no thanks..☹️

Had sushi here last night. Was quite disappointed with the tuna rolls... there wasn't much tuna and mostly just a thick layer of rice (see photos) Didnt feel worth the price Other side condiments were okay though. Had miso soup and wakame salad which were both good.

We absolutely loved the place and the food! We spent our anniversary evening there and booked the Korean BBQ—amazing food, just amazing. The atmosphere at the upper deck was fantastic, and the meat and sides were top-notch. The service was great too. We’ll definitely be back!

Great food but unfortunately the service is poor at best.

Lovely Jubley. This was the second time I have been to Alaska, the first time I had the sushi which was excellent 👌this time 8 of us went for the Korean BBQ were they cook it for you at the table, what an experience! Food cooked to perfection and it creates a great interactive experience. The service was very good too, Well worth a visit 😀

Wow! Loved the food here, the noddle dish I had was fantastic.. Nice atmosphere, it was busy but it still felt comfortable and private. Looking forward to going again!

One of the best kimchi jiggae, and I've had a lot of those in London but one at Akasaka MK stood out. Very sweet servers and welcoming, cute ambience. Will definitely visit again to try more of the menu.

My 2nd ever korean bbq and it did not disappoint at all. We ate chicken, pork, beef steak and beef galbi. We also ate Kimchi, Kimchi fried rice and alot of other lovely delicicacies. The girl who served us was really lovely and hospitable and catered well my girlfriends allergies. The food punches you with a lot of flavour and a must visit when your visiting Milton Keynes.

Everything was just amazing at this place! I enjoyed Katsu curry, beautiful decorations and quick food preparation.

Tasty sushi, and loved that they had korean elements. The kpop and Milkis made me very happy.

Think if I had not been on my own the service would have been better. Can't fault the food. Will see what it's like next time

I'm writing this absolutely stuffed to the most I could be. Went today, Saturday afternoon. We had the beef and pork. The service is great and while the Korean BBQ is on the slightly expensive side of a family meal, it's very good value for money overall. You will be satisfied. Went again tonight. Still maintained great quality and service.

I enjoyed the food/BBQ, wish there was an option for cocktails. The server was really polite, however her supervisor or colleague was quite rude to her infront of us over an innocent mistake and I felt really bad for her. 10/10 Kimchi!

We went for the Korean bbq, for a first experience it seemed fairly standard nothing to write home about but equally nothing to compare it against, it seemed very expensive for what it was. Middle of the road.

Just as all the other reviews say this place was amazing. The service was really quick and the staff are really polite. The food was a bit pricey but for the quality of what you’re getting it’s definitely worth it. Everything we had was absolutely delicious. For starters we got Yasai Tempura which is vegetables in a light batter as well as some chicken gyoza. The tempura was heavenly and is probably one of my favourite things i’ve ever tried. My husband really loved the gyoza too. We both had Beef Dolsot Bibimbap, it came in normal and spicy. I got normal while my husband got spicy. (The whole dishes didn’t carry that optional flavour it was the dishes of sauce you can see in the pictures). I couldn’t finish all of mine but they had takeaway boxes which was really convenient. Akasaka has definitely become my favourite restaurant and I can’t wait to return.

I am leaving this review purely because of how lovely our server, Han, was. He welcomed us with a friendly smile and his warm, genuine energy made our anniversary even more enjoyable. The food was also delicious and served quickly.

We’ve had an amazing night tonight. Booked online and we chose our time. We were sent upstairs where the Korean bbq has been set up. Very busy but all in control. We have the beef, pork belly and pork bibimbap in bbq and side dishes are free and you pay for extra, Chicken gyoza, japchae and crispy squid. All delicious and fresh. Anisha is very patient and just lovely. Thank you for your help tonight! We recommend Akasaka MK if you fancy Japanese and Korean cuisine.

When the zombie apocalypse finally happens this is what all restaurants will be like. The sushi and sashimi was good, the teriyaki was bland and disappointing... the wait staff are polite, but my god do they know what they're meant to be doing? I've never seen a bunch of people so clueless, aimlessly walking around the restaurant floor avoiding eye-contact and most importantly, avoiding the customers. Who trains these muppets? It's like they've all got chronic fatigue syndrome. So in summary, a restaurant with ok food let down by a combination of poor staff training and comically low energy people. For this reason we won't be eating there again.

A nice little find near MK centre. We originally went for the k-bbq but unfortunately this is booking only. Despite this, the food we ordered was delicious and came quick. I got a bibimbap whilst my partner went for a few small plates. Service was great and prices were average. We will definitely be coming again!

We ate here for our last date night. We LOVE sushi and have eaten pur way around London and Europe. The reviews here seemed good so we were really disappointed with the poor quality and very high prices. We could have eaten lunch a Nobu for a similar coat. The sushi and sashimi was full of sinew which rendered most of it inedible. When asked to see if we could try the berry wine before buying a bottle this wasn't able to accommodated. There was little to no atmosphere. The katsu was thin and runny but tasty enough. Overall other than the sweet young waiter it.was thoroughly mediocre and that's bring generous. I honestly wouldn't bother.

The food is really nice but I was waiting half an hour for a server to like take my plate and ask if I wanted to order anything else. I ordered a bit of sushi and wanted to order some more but waiters were like looking at me and walking past, a table next to me was serviced pretty much as soon as they finished their meals. I dunno if I'm supposed to like call a waiter or something but I felt very awkward like I was just sat in the corner and forgotten about. I also ordered a bottle of water and didn't get one until I went to pay and asked if I could get it when I saw it on the bill. I wouldn't come back again from this experience despite the food being really nice.

Had an enjoyable meal here. The food was fresh and tasty and the customer service was good.

The food here is amazing. we had the Korean bbq with pork and beef. We cooked at our table, and the food was exquisite. we also tried the sushi gyoza and veg tempura. These were also 10/10. The vibe is cosy and relaxed, and the staff are fully attentive. Overall, it was a brilliant experience we will definitely return.

Went on a Wednesday night and it was fairly busy. Staff were a little slow to serve and our food all came out at different times which wasn't great. Had the beef ramen and was nice enough...not like traditional ramens with egg etc...more just a noodle soup but tasted good. Beef wasn't the best quality but nice enough.

I came in recently for a date the atmosphere was amazing along with the food I don’t know his name but I was served by a curly haired white boy and his service was excellent overall we had a great time and will defo be coming back

Food really was so so, I could cook better at home. I had it once a few years ago and this was the second time, woould not come again. But service wise was decent with friendly staff

As a first-time experience, I HAVE to say how impressed I am. Excellent service and excellent value. The staff are very good, friendly and accommodating. My son has very specific dietary preferences, and they were very helpful. Highly recommended.

Great Sushi and sashimi but the service is awful. Taken to our table but not offered any water. Server didn't come back to ask for our drink order and eventually came back 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order drinks and food. The sever got our food order wrong and took to long to bring out the sake. One server took laps around which was off putting. Best sushi around but I wish waiting staff actually took their job seriously. When I was the age of the waiting staff, the only job I could get was road sweeping but I was the best road sweeper I could be.

I’m an avid Asian food lover and Japanese food is at the top of that list. Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience with Akasaka MK! Hot rice and sauce dishes and prawn tempura were just okay however, the sashimi, edamame (too hard) and sushi rolls were not good. MK seems to have limited options and this was apparently the best Japanese/korean restaurant in MK. It was my last night visiting with a friend and wanted to have a nice dinner. Very disappointed! Here are details of what we ordered: Edamame (spicy) — too hard and barely seasoned 2/5 Prawn tempura — best item we had 4/5 Hamachi Sashimi — not good 1/5 Prawn tempura roll — terrible tasted stale (ate 1 out of 6 rolls) 0/5 Spicy Chicken with rice — okay 3/5 Seafood fried rice — 3/5 Overall, I would not return or recommend this place!

📣📣📣 Zhongfu Zhongfu Zhongfu Ultra-thin eel rice with sprouts in teriyaki sauce on the iron plate... served with strange-tasting white rice... some sprouts were watery... It cost £22... expensive and hard to eat Very unauthentic Japanese food… never go again

A pretty nice place, not cheap, but food was good. I do recommend though I didn't go crazy for it. Maybe if i ordered something else I'd have been mind-blowing, but as it stands, its not too bad either

We love Akasaka, but this is the first time we've done the Korean BBQ there. It did not disappoint, with truly fab cuts of meat. The waitress was also very attentive, ensuring the BBQ was kept clean. If there's any negative was with all the BBQs running it got very warm indeed!

We had a selection of sushi and Korean dishes. The Japchae and soft shell crab rolls were the best!

Lovely food, lovely people only reason for a 4 star is it's a bit chilly in there.. A little too chilly so keep your jackets on

Restaurant with Japanese and Korean cuisine in a nice environment with very good service food very properly cooked with fresh products and affordable prices.

Amazing food! Soft shell crab starter is a must. The best sashimi I've eaten in a long time. Service was great; attentive, but not intrusive, friendly, but not over the top (Special mention to our server Abi!). Only gripe was the background music was a little loud, and occasionally intrusive. But when the food and service is this good, I'm prepared to put it down to my advancing years!

Slightly mixed bag, but an overall positive experience. The starters weren't that great. Miso soup was just ok (neutral experience) but the tempura vegetables were much worse than some I had the pleasure eating recently. The pieces were too large and thick and were very hot inside, even after some time, which detracted from the taste. However the subsequent salmon teriyaki was very tasty, and I appreciate the option to choose seafood fried rice as modification. Then the sushi set had very soft and high quality fish and well done rice. The staff was very professional and I enjoyed the overall Japanese atmosphere. I see myself visiting again (and skipping the appetizers).

I had the deluxe sushi platter (between two of us) with the rainbow roll and chicken gyōza, and it was absolutely excellent.

This place is lovely and serves fresh food. It was my first time going there, and it exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious 😋 Their sushi is the best sushi I have ever had. I will go back for their sushi. They have a wide range of Korean dishes to choose from. We enjoyed tasting different dishes. The restaurant is very neat and has a good atmosphere. It gets busy in the evening so I would recommend booking in advance.

An amazing place to enjoy food. By looking at the reviews I took my family for dinner here. It was amazing. We liked all the food. The restaurant is clean, very friendly staff. Food was delicious 😋. We ordered katsu dishes. My son really enjoyed it. The super attraction was Punky from the desert menu

This will have been my 5th visit, I've always loved it. Unfortunately this time it's a 4 star as the food service was slow. They were very busy mind you. And my prawns were overcooked. They did offer to change the dish, but firstly I'm a pig and will eat it. I also hate to waste food. So we still paid in full, we still tipped. I still recommend it highly, but perhaps go on a weeknight for a better experience.

Firstly, the location of this restaurant is so weird, you'll definitely miss it if you're not looking for it - and you might still miss it if you ARE looking for it. But everything else is brilliant. A delicious menu with helpful staff to guide you through the various options. It had a nice peaceful atmosphere with plenty of space too. Maybe it's a bit pricy - but it was a great experience.

I Moved to Milton Keynes 5 years ago and I've only just discovered this place. A hidden gem, tucked away beneath office blocks. Only a small sign outside to let you know this place exists but most people will just walk past it. With many options to choose from, they serve Korean/Japanese food which was delicious and the portions are just about right. Staff are professional and polite and the restaurant is very clean. My only negative is that if you dine here during winter and you come in around the opening time, the restaurant is very cold. A small issue but a great first impression overall.

Fantastic little restaurant, good food, good sake and a good atmosphere too. The sushi is quite good for gluten free but most of the main dishes have gluten, still managed to find a good meal.

The normal soy sauce is far too salty for sushi. Special sushi soy sauce is easily available in supermarkets. Disappointed you couldn't provide the correct soy sauce for sushi.

Food and service was phenominal! I went here by chance as it is slightly hidden away and I do not regret it. The best dessert I have tried too which was black sesame ice cream

Delicious food and desserts. Friendly staff and no tips forcing, I like to give tips myself depending on how I was served and how good the food was. Not regretting tipping more than 10% as so far everything was perfect.

Seems like it's changed hands, wasn't anywhere near as good as previous visits. Slightly more restricted menu and sushi without garnish, seeds, spices etc. Unlikely to come back again. Spent 80-90 but would have spent more if the sushi was better.

Food was ok, Would want to give it another try again though. Customer service was also mediocre, With one waitress she seemed to grow impatient that we didn’t know what drinks we wanted and kept coming over to the point where eventually a waiter came to get our drinks.

The food is very good. If you want high quality Japanese or Korean food then this is a wonderful place to go. The atmosphere however is lacking. Great lengths have been gone to to create a visually striking restaurant - it looks fantastic. However the this is juxtaposed by the anxious looking wait staff. The moment they walk away from the table their smiles turn to frowns and you can see them gossiping their distain from behind the bar. They're not especially busy, so i'm not claiming they're not attentive, however they do look miserable. You dont have to love or even enjoy your job... But it did take away from the three times i've been to akasaka The food came quickly, our questions were answered about the menu, although there were lots of occupied tables, the ambient noise was low

Really nice place, food taste amazing and the service we had from Adeline was great. portions are also always good for what you pay.
