AKA Sushi in Manchester

Incredible sushi, freshly prepared with love. The staff were very friendly and the service as a whole was just fantastic. Highly recommend.

Clean and modern restaurant. The server will show you a tablet where you you can look at the menus and place your order. I ordered chicken noodles soup which was really nice. I was worried halfway through my eating, that I forgot to ask if they take card payment, because I didn't take any cash with me at the time. Thankfully, unlike many chinese eateries in the UK that I've been, this place is one of the few places that take payments on card. It was a good short experience, I would definitely come back to try other menus.

The food here is absolutely delicious. I’ve been to this place twice since I started living nearby, and it’s one of the spots with the freshest fish I’ve ever had. The salmon literally melts in your mouth. This second time, I tried the shrimp with mayonnaise side, and they are hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. The service is excellent. Highly recommend.

We love AKA SUSHI we go at least once if not more, every time we are in Manchester. The food is delicious we normally have crispy soft shell crab, dragon roll and Kaarage Japanese fried chicken as they are phenomenal. Price is very reasonable for the quality and the service is very good. It also has Blue Whale supermarket in the same building so you can shop there too. Definitely 10/10

Very tasty and everything is always fresh, as the establishment works with a nearby supermarket. We tasted almost all the dishes. If you love sushi, miso soup and similar dishes, this is the place for you

Literally the best sushi I’ve ever had - the dragon roll is unreal. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone. You won’t find any better sushi in Manchester than here

It was so delicious that I ate it all.. I was so happy to come to a place in England where raw fish was served this thickly for the first time!!! The sashimi and side dishes are all delicious, so I recommend them. Very satisfied for the price

Visited on 08/01/2025. Best sushi I have ever had in Manchester! Great selection of mains, starters and sides but they only have one dessert. If you visit please try their green tea, you will be impressed! We paid £35 per person for 2 sets of sushi (about 10 large sushi per set) and a couple of drinks. The staff are incredibly friendly and very, VERY polite. So if you don't like waitresses interrupting you too often - you'll love the service here. Would definitely come back!

Great Japanese restaurant. Ordered some sushi and a bento to share. Food tasted great, good value and nice staff. Only thing was the tablet used to order on was very dirty (some wet food splodges on it). Overall good stuff and the missus was happy 👏

Initially, I was skeptical about this small establishment from a distance. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, and the prices were appropriate for the portion sizes. The fresh salmon was particularly noteworthy, contributing to a great overall experience.

So happy I got the salmon bento. Every section of the box had an exquisite flavour and the rice was cooked to perfection. I would never have ordered the deep fried chicken which was in the box but it was amazing. I would like to see the option to substitute it with deep fried prawns or squid in future to make it a fully pescatarian dish. The black pepper tuna rolls were beautifully fresh too. We got 10 pcs for £15. Very filling! The bento was sufficient as one dish without sides.

Wonderful and good quality food. The restaurant is very welcoming and well kept. The staff also are very friendly and helpful.

Have been in a couple times, the food was nice & staff is courteous & friendly. Unfortunately the Sushi chef has put me right off from visiting again becos he was constantly coughing whilst preparing the sushi dishes. He did not wear a mask nor cover his mouth so he was coughing into the food which is very disgusting indeed. Really expected more than basic level of hygiene for a Japanese restaurant especially a sushi chef so was very disappointed they could fail so drastically on such simple hygiene knowledge! The boss surely needs to address this crucial problem particularly operating in this trade and educate his staff otherwise despite delivering nice food & service, it will still turn customers away! For me, I wont be back again! If I did not encounter this bad experience, I would have given more stars!

Servicio muy amable y rápido también. El plato de sashimi servido era genial, aunque el tamaño de cada pedazo de sashimi era demasiado grande. Tan grande que cada pieza podría ser hecha en dos. Por lo demás perfecto. El Unagi, mi goto sushi, era bueno, pero necesitaba un poco de salsa marinada. La única guarida eran las bolas Oktopus. Cada bola tenía muy pocos trozos de pulpo, pero un montón de salsa / crema de filtro. Calificaría Aka como uno de los mejores lugares de sushi que Standort por su frescura, calidad y costo.

Honestly the place was amazing, the food was fab, the atmosphere was relaxing and the foods worth the price, there's also a supermarket full of Asian products. You also get free mint imperials when you finish so 👍

I have been here a few times to dine in and take away and had lovely experiences each time. Food is gorgeous and the staff are very attentive. They even make reasonably adjustments to the sashimi set when requested. I'll be back.

The atmosphere of an Asian sushi bar. The sushi is very tasty, but there is a lot of rice. Price-quality level. It's a pity that there is no more delivery. The staff is always friendly.

Best sushi rolls I've ever had, the diameter of them it's enough and for some even difficult to eat, the salmon was soft and wasabi spicy as expected, really complete environment, and " introvert" proof service, really welcoming.

As a proof, even my wife ate everything and this never happened before !

Kid music was blaring out which was so loud I could hear it across the restaurant. Ruining the atmosphere completely. Normally a regular place I visit but these has definitely put me off. No staff told the customer to turn it down or anything.

I went with my 2 young children. We had salmon avacado tempura, haurmaki spring roll, and salmon roll. The portion size was really good, much bigger than other sushi restaurants that I have been to in the past, the staff were super nice and friendly, we will definitely go back.

We found this Sushi restaurant while looking for somewhere to eat on our last night in Manchester. And we didn't regret it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The sushi was fresh and we truly enjoyed it. We had big plater of sushi, octopus balls, gyozas and a few Asahi and it only came to 50 pound. Great value for money.

Huge portions, reasonable prices and lovely staff!

The staff where where amazing, really patient and pleasant. We did order a few dishes and they staggered them for us so we where not over whelmed on the table which was nice. The food was so fresh, we say alot of people with set plates that looked amazing but we went for the pieces we liked the best and they where delicious. The setting was tranquil and comfy and very very clean. I would highly recommend if you want to have some sushi. They even have the option to take away

I love coming to this place! The portion is super big and generous and the food quality never fails me🙏🏻 can feel that the chefs are really paying attention to the food they make! Worth the price!

Been here multiple times in the past and have always enjoyed the bento (teriyaki chicken bento) but this time round, I was very disappointed. I guess due to inflation and them not wanting to raise the prices, some dishes on the bento were swapped to a cheaper substitute (wouldn't say it is Japanese side dishes, more so Chinese) As such I wouldn't say it is worth the price to come back again :/

If you want value for money this is the place! Came in to grab some sushi and ramen....could just about finish the ramen, the portions were immense. Definitely worth while sharing or coming when you're really hungry. If all else fails you can take it home with you!

Terrible food but service was good. Tempura batter is not tempura, tuna sashimi was awful and frozen.

Pretty good but nothing to shout about. The portion size was great for the sushi though, maybe even too big pieces... The staff were extremely attentive and friendly but that's probably because there was only one other person in there. I almost felt like I was being watched. It could also do with some ambient background music as it was dead silent in there.

Food was average, bento boxes are nice. Was told the chicken udon had katsu chicken, however it was just plain chicken. Very dry too.

Couldn't fault the service I was over faced with the food and couldn't finish but they did let me take the rest home.

Really enjoy my meals here. Good value and good quality. Portions large too for a Japanese Sushi restaurant. Bento 🍱 sets are decent. This may not be the best, most authentic Sushi you have ever had but you’ll enjoy it.

Shockingly bad staff, waited to make our order for 40 minutes, raised our hands and purposely ignored us. We noticed Chinese customers who came after us to make their order and receive their food before we even got to make our order.

I was full after I left the restaurant, but the rolls there were quite plain. It was strange to have fish cake crab on top of the rice roll instead of wrapping it inside. The rolls were also way too much rice for each piece. Also, the fried prawn was cold, but the rice was warm. The quality of the fried prawn and the sashimi in the roll can be better. The fried roll was quite good compared to other dishes. And, they gave a hot glass for beers. Very nice. All in all, if you are starving and not picky, it is totally fine.

right next to the asian supermarket : blue whale. Restaurant isnt massive but its still decently sized. Wide variety of sushis and a few hot dishes such as bentos and rices. Bento: I ordered a chicken bento and it wasn't nice. the chicken was too dry even though it was chicken thigh. Sushi: my friend ordered a special sushi roll and it was actually pretty good as there were a lot of salmon and tuna and the portion size was very decent. Note: be careful when reading the menu as the menu doesnt always match what the ingredients are in the sushi. its usually missing some stuff (my friends' sushi never said it had tuna but it came with a lot of tuna) etc.

This place is a real find. Delicious and well prepared sushi and tasty hot dishes. Not too expensive either! I was really hungry, having skipped both breakfast and lunch and ended up here at about 4pm. I ordered the salmon bento box and also some salmon nigiri whilst I was waiting. It turns out I didn't need to order the nigiri (although it was excellent) because the bento box was so big! I didn't realise. For £12.99 that box is an absolute bargain. Take a look at the pictures! I will certainly be back.

Food was very below average, quite standard and nothing special. The tuna specifically didn’t taste fresh at all. I understand tuna sashimi is meant to taste faintly fishy, clean and fresh but this tasted very mushy and had a very odd taste. Staff were unhelpful in resolving our food and were awkwardly gathered in front of our table whilst we were eating the whole time so pretty poor atmosphere. Didn’t really get the vibe of a nice sushi restaurant. Definitely had much better sushi at a fraction of the price at other places. Really unfortunate but won’t be going back.

New review - Came again this weekend and the food is just is great but service was alil disappointing this time. We were shown to our table but were given no plates or cutlery and had to ask for everything. Apart from that the staff were nice and the food was delicious. Ordered 2 main courses and 2 sushi plates between 3 of us with drinks for under £57 which ain't bad. My steak bento box came late and was too starving to take a pic but it was delicious. I'd come again but wish there were more noodle and rice main courses. We weren't charged for a takeaway box to take our leftovers back. --------------------------------------------- Original review - A nice new sushi joint which china town needs more of. Prices are more expensive than wasabi sushi but the quality is much better. Nice thick cuts of sashimi. Ordered a duck bento box and was very pleasantly surprised. My gal demolished a sushi sharing platter to herself and she eats nothing which says alot of the food. Decor nice and staff lovely. No compulsory service charge. Relatively quiet when visiting. Can't wait to go again to try the full menu.

Cute & Lovely restaurant with a very chilled vibe, its perfect for a quick lunch. The food is very fresh and well prepared. the staff are very friendly and incredibly helpful in answering all of my questions. The restaurant servers very tasty, fresh food in big portions. The maki rolls we tried were delicious and I recommend the Dragon roll. Side dishes are also very nice with Gyoza Chicken being another recommendation. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Had a couple of rolls for dinner. Can’t say they’re the best I’ve had but they’re totally one of the best I’ve had in the UK. Fresh salmon and tuna, nice big cuts, lovely presentation. Big portions as well. Attentive and happy staff. The only downside were the wasabi paste and the pickled ginger. Zero quality. Wasabi was like green mud, no taste and horrible texture. The pickled ginger was so dry like it’s been kept out of its pickled juice for ages. Took out a star for that sorry. Will come again tho.

The special sushi dragon roll was delicious with 10 large pieces for only £14. Very clean place and fresh. Blue whale Supermarket next door is nice to look around also with lots of fresh fish and seafood to buy. I’ll be back to try some more special sushi rolls

Teriyaki Chicken Bento - is actually soy sauce chicken, zero teriyaki taste, also drier than my grandparents, and they're ashes now. Salmon & Tuna Nigiri - hot rice, warm fish - aren't sushis supposed to be cold, or at the very least, not warm - it was weird. the salmon felt powdery, almost like it's breaking down/not fresh. California Roll - fish roe lesser than my study grades. Ginger - drier than my elbows, it felt like it was squeezed dry or dehydrated. Green Tea - don't even taste like it. Is it edible? Yes. Is it accurate? No. Will I visit again? Never.

Note: Didn't get to eat here, review is for service only . Tried for lunch today, didn't seem too busy, plenty of tables. Was offered a seat pretty promptly, without issue but ended up waiting about 30 minutes before giving up on trying to get served. Attempted to wave down the two or three staff members but was ignored/not seen, and then got overtaken by three takeaway orders that came in and two more tables of seated customers who arrived after us. I gave up and left.

Fabulous place in Central Manchester. Portions are massive. We ordered a Bento Box each and a California Roll and ended up taking food back to the office. Tasty, fresh and good value.
