Unfortunately, I do not recommend this place, and am unlikely to return. The person who served us was polite and efficient, however the dishes were simply not good. The takoyaki had barely any octopus to be found, and was fried for a bit too long. The sushi was okay, though it didn't taste the freshest. The person I ate with got the vegetarian ramen, which tasted like it had been reheated from frozen and bland. The noodles were also of poor quality.

I dined here with my boyfriend and I can not get over how yummy and delicious the food was here. The chefs and workers are also lovely people and shared how they made some of their sauces which were lovely. Highly recommend the sushi. This place is a hidden gem!

Literally the freshest sushi in the hood served by the friendliest people. It’s my go to takeaway and sometimes I also dine in with friends. The prices are also very reasonable and there is great variety in the menu

We recently visited Japan Deli on Wilmslow Road. While the food was just "okay" and could benefit from some improvements in terms of flavor, the service was absolutely excellent! The staff were attentive and made the whole experience pleasant. However, the drinks in the chiller were not as cold as expected, which was a minor disappointment. What we did enjoy was the option of sitting outside. There’s a nice outdoor seating area with tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy your meal or drinks. Japan Deli has a lot of potential. Their dedication to authentic Japanese sushi is clear, and the attention to detail in their preparation is appreciated. They also offer great vegan and vegetarian sushi options, which is a plus. It’s a lovely spot for takeaway, and with a few improvements to the food and drinks, it could easily be a top spot in Didsbury, Manchester!

I’ve only just become a regular to this deli and consider my self as a sushi connoisseur and for such small and humble deli - the sushi are definitely served FRESH and is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Other dishes are also very delicious and overall taste homey! Owner’s are very nice too and they have a loyalty card scheme which is a plus! I don’t leave reviews AT ALL but this place really is a HIDDEN GEM that I would have never expected! Will definitely be coming here often if I wanna treat myself to some luxury tasting sushi!

decided to have a treat yourself night, reasonably priced for the portion. what i got the salmon sashimi, gyozas and the chicken katsu was extremely tasty and filling. the chef / server was really friendly and nice definitely would get again

You need to stop by if you in Manchester and enjoy Japanese food! Very reasonably priced! Gyozas are a must.

Fantastic attention to detail, produced a special gluten free bento box and Ramen to tell the grandkids about. Very very reasonable prices and super family friendly. Will defiantly visit again. A big thank you from us.

Accidentally went in at lunchtime, never had Japanese before and I feel I've been missing out. The food was amazing! The guy was so nice and humble too. Wish this was at my home town, highly recommend.

This is always a great place for lunch. Their bento boxes, gyozas, chicken katsu and sushi are incredible. Never had a bad meal here. It is very reasonably priced and the staff are friendly. 100% recommend.

I'm a big fan of Japanese food and to have a takeaway (you can sit in too) near where I work is a bonus. Very friendly and welcoming staff which I believe is both the manager and his wife. I ordered Bento lunchbox for £5.95 . I didn't know what to expect and imagined it to be a smaller portion of a main dish. This price is definitely cheaper than the nearby chain sandwiches or burger shops. When I took it back to my workplace (few minutes walk), the food was still piping hot. There were 4 deep fried pastries, katsu chicken, curry sauce and yakisoba with vegetables. Delicious! I was very pleased with the portion size and the tastiness of my lunch. Even happier that I was supporting a small local business. Highly recommended!

What a little gem! Fresh quality food at a very great price. I had the takoyaki, tuna temaki and salmon nigiri and they were all absolutely superb and fresh at prices that rival chain stores. The guy running the place was a pleasure to talk to and I couldn't stop myself from emptying my entire wallet for a tip. First time here and I will definitely be back :) I recommend this place to people wanting to try sushi for the first time and sushi veterans alike. The interior has a homely charm and you help yourself to cutlery and sauces.

Excellent food once again! Breaded katsu mushroom was superb and really tasty. Also had a portion of spring rolls and they were lovely. Would go again when visiting Christie Hospital!

Our go-to Japanese deli, usually for a Friday dinner time treat. The chicken chili with rice is fantastic, though the katsu curry is also great. I've never had sushi (I'm not a fan in general) but it looks great and my colleagues regularly have it.

Don't usually write reviews. This place has brilliant food. Don't be put off by the decor. Cheap eat.

Lovely place. Great service. Really friendly. Never really tried Japanese food before and this was just wonderful. I would 100% recommend the salmon and avacado roll with Japanese mayo, really nice. Not bad prices either.

Visiting the area and found this nice little gem! Ordered curry and rice, sushi and gyozas and a can of coke to go sit in my car and eat! Lovely food and quality ingredients. The rice is lovely! Conveniently located opposite Christie Hospital and beats a sandwich! Will visit again!

Went for the Chicken Katsu Curry and the Kaarage Bento Box. Both were really good, came with nice sides and were great value. Would definitely recommend

This is a great little find, excellent food at great prices. The staff are very helpful and the food arrives hot and quick. They offer an NHS discount in the first place but with the" eat out 50%" as well it was cheaper than going to the staff canteen. I had the prawn katsu curry with rice and it was extremely tasty. This is a regular haunt anyway for sushi which is by far the best in Manchester

Great choice of food if you love Japanese food or sushi

The best place for fresh sushi takeout found in south Manchester to date. Good value too. Chefs selection of sushi has good variety including tuna, salmon, prawn and yellowtail. Vegetable gyoza also delicious. Served with free wooden chopsticks and the ginger / wasabi thrown in is a great bonus. You get the soy sachets too but I always use my own.

Good choice of dishes on the menu, I went for a bento box with katsu chicken and rice. It was really tasty and a massive portion for the cost of £5.99. Very close to the Christie hospital so handy when waiting for a patient being seen there.

Ordered a takeaway whilst on lockdown, I can’t believe how amazing this was! The quality was amazing and the attention to detail was incredible! Arrived quickly and still fresh and the hot food was still hot. The prawn tempura sushi rolls were lovely, the crispy chicken temaki was the biggest I’ve ever had! I had to eat some out of it before I could even start to eat it!! And the takoyaki was piping hot and fresh, got free soy sauce and wasabi and lots of pickled ginger, can not fault this place! Very good value and will 100% be ordering again, my new fave spot :)

Used to eat here a lot a few years ago, so ordered take away recently. Was a bit disappointed - it was nice but nowhere near as good as I remember. Sushi was good, bento boxes for take away were disappointing - can't understand how they're any different from an ordinary meal? It was literally rice, chicken, sauce and a bit of pickled ginger. Bento boxes I've had elsewhere have included other stuff with them. The katsu tasted nice but was a huge rice to chicken ratio. Pleasant enough but not overwhelminglg great.

I ordered chicken gyoza ramen and a selection of nigiri. Sushi was really tasty, especially the eel and salmon, however the ramen was pretty flavourless and I really didn’t enjoy it.

Best sushi in this area! Nice staff, seems like a family business so happy to support it. Went to the place around the corner (Kyotoya) and was disgusted by the hygeine of the place, so this was a nice change! Recommended!

Food was ok but I've had better, the main meal portion size was pretty big and the service was great. Vegetable Dumplings were the best.

The food was presented nicely and it tasted really good. I had the crispy chicken curry with udon noodles, it had a bit of a kick which was nice.
