A fantastic night. Wonderful food, great service, lovely place. Really great to be able to bring your own wine and beer (they even provide glasses) and the staff are so helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

My son and I dropped in without a reservation, and the staff immediately seated us which was amazing given the incoming dinner rush. We were impressed with the fast service and the HIGH quality of the ingredients. My son had the Chicken Madras with garlic naan, I had the Chicken Vindaloo with mushroom rice. Amazing! The chicken was cooked perfectly. The spices and heat were spot on. I wish I lived here—I would eat here at least once a week.

Had a takeaway the poppadoms were awful they smelled of oil had a nasty taste of oil no salad with onions bhajas would not order again

Four of us recently visited. Food and service are very good and not overpriced.

Service was really good but the food was not good, as an Indian I can say their Chicken vindaloo and garlic chilli chicken was not a type of Indian dish it is something else, also I think they were using too much of color in it.

Very friendly staff and delicious food! The location is close to the bus stop (2min walk). I look forward to trying the Sunday buffet (2-10pm) next time.

Our now traditional Monday night curry on the way home from Glastonbury. Stumbled upon Ajwa last year, came back this year, and will again. Last year it was quiet, this year much busier, but they squeezed us in and fed us well. We'll book next year.

Ordered for home delivery on a Thursday night, as I’m vegan I called ahead to check what vegan options there were and the man on the phone was very accommodating, there were loads of options. I had the vegetable bhuna, vegetable rice and vegan garlic naan which were all delicious, fresh and cooked to order. Food was delivered piping hot by a friendly driver and the portion sizes were good value for money. I think I’ve just found my favourite takeaway in Wells!

We found this place by accident whilst in tesco which is directly opposite. The owners were really friendly and the food was lovely.

Tried for the first time yesterday. It was a delivery so wasn't sure what to mark for 'atmosphere'. Ordered two chef's specials and some sides and I was seriously impressed. Will definitely use again

1st time we tried a takeaway from Ajwa restaurant and I have to say the food was absolutely delicious, the best takeaway I've had anywhere for ages, and the portions were perfect. also delightful friendly staff. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We found Ajwa on a visit to Wells. Do not be put off by how the restaurant looks from the outside. Step inside and you will be treated to comfortable surroundings and the most delicious food. We had chicken dhansak with tender chicken, lovely fresh brinjal baji and a fresh saag aloo with their special rice with egg and peas. All accompanied with a salt and sweet lassi. If you enjoy an alcoholic drink with your meal you can BYO or there is a Whetherspoons a 2 minute walk away for pre and post dinner drinks.

Nice place in Wells Good food, nice and tasty. Avoid the paratha, uncooked dough, not the best. Nan on the other hand was excellent All the food was very tasty and flavoursome. The experience was nice but slightly strange, kept us waiting despite tables were available kept of checking reservations Staff was not very talkative despite asking questions Overall nice place worth the visit

We Ordered a takeaway whilst staying at the Orchard Pomeroy Treehouse. As we are not from the area, we did a google search and decided to try Ajwa, and I'm so glad we did! We drove 10 mins back, with a stop off on the way, and the food was still piping hot. We ordered the lamb bhuna and it was amazing. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back, and would highly recommend. Thank you 😊

The food is amazing, above par any Indian restaurant in Wells. Though, the staff are not that friendly towards South Asians.

Came across this gem of an Indian restaurant as we walked out of the bus station. The staff are friendly and helpful. All the food was amazing, best curry we have had for a very long time. Our biggest regret is that we live in Essex.

What a fantastic Indian restaurant we stopped over in Wells on our way to the south west, poppadoms ,chutneys, Starters followed vegetable masala, Veg rice, chicken madras, pilau rice, Onion bhaji and nann bread with a drink excellent value and very tasty shame it's 4 hours from home as this would be our goto indian restaurant, thank you to the servers and the waitress for looking after us

10/10, would a million percent recommend if you’re down in Wells & looking for a delicious Indian to eat at. My boyfriend & I had a brilliant experience here - the food was one of the best we’ve had & the service was great. The staff were very friendly & very attentive too. We dined in on a Sunday where they had their Sunday buffet on & the prices were very fair. It was just over £15 per person for an all-you-can-eat buffet & their portions were really good too. I would highly suggest this if you’re in the area!

We ordered a large takeaway from Ajwa this evening for 8 people. Firstly, they got the order spot on (which we were very impressed with as much smaller orders from other places have been wrong) Secondly the food was delicious! Everything was hot and the portions were very good. Everyone was happy and we had not one complaint from a fussy, Indian living family! Would very much recommend Ajwa. Thank you!

Been there once and definitely will return. Staff are very attentive and friendly, all seems clean & well kept. Food was delicious and we had nothing to complain about. The lemon chicken and lamb dish tasted amazing & so did our rice choices. Bring your own booze is a great idea but we only had water which was fine. None alcohol choices available to purchase. We would like to try the Sunday buffet soon as we were really impressed. Keep up the good work. I wish our Indian in Street is as good as yours 😉

Lovely fresh Indian food. Somewhere you can rely on to take friends and family... It won't disappoint. Also taking your own drinks helps to keep the cost down.

Nice food and service nice flavors

Best local Indian by a mile - I visited a few months ago and I can still remember how incredible the food was. Also very good value, especially for the food quality. Busy for a weekday evening, be sure to book.

Ajwa is a great restaurant. The food is amazing, chicken is tender and full of flavour and the staff are so warm and friendly. I went with my family on Christmas Eve for the buffet and we all had a wonderful time (although they don’t sell alcohol they welcome you to bring your own if you wish). Will definitely be retuning again.

Been back recently and it was awful. Treated like cattle. We were told we had two hours for the table. Arrived promptly and were of ignored by staff for over half hour had to ask for wine glasses and said we were ready to order. After one hour we had poppadoms served. Ordered main meals and they took over 40 minutes to serve. As we were eating told by waiter that we had to leave as table booked. As we were waiting for Bill the next guests were made to wait standing opposite us and staff made no explanation as to why we were running late. They left us to explain situation. Waiter couldn't even split our bill. Food was pretty awful. Poppadoms were clearly stale, served up and weren't crispy. Ordered our mains and watched a load of takeaway orders being sent our, massive delay in our order. Madras was as hot as a vindaloo. Chef has no skills. Out of 8 meals only 2 were OK, rest were awful. Go to Rajahs and avoid this dump.

First time visit to this restaurant and won't be out last. We were here celebrating a colleagues retirement. The table was perfect. Food delicious. Service fantastic. We didn't feel hurried in any way and the whole evening was the perfect way to spend time with friends enjoying good food and excellent company. Glad I booked!

Worst Indian I have had in a long time, food tasted like the spices were being rationed and overal very bland. Our biryani had overcooked rice and was tasteless and not warm. Masala sauce was missing the rich flavour it should have, lacked spices and tasted like a lemony tomato stew. To top is off we paid £5 for delivery requested for 7, had an email after saying it will be delivered at 7:45 for it to not show up until 8:25.

We got out food after 2 h 25 min wait. Not very hot. One of the sides not edible. Veg birayni had some bits of meat (pictures attached). Rice in biryani was mushy. Everything overall very bland.

Great restaurant, good food, nice staff and just a great place to eat for any occasion. Don’t be put off by bringing your own alcohol, this actually works out better in my opinion. 100% recommend this Indian restaurant.

Absolutely blown away by the food as well as the service! We will definitely be returning every time we have our curry cravings. Each dish is prepared as you order and the kitchen is willing to adjust the heat level to your liking. They don't sell alcohol. However, they are happy for you to come in with your own if you'd like a bottle of wine with your meal 😋 Utensils, plates, glasses, tables etc are so clean I wouldn't be surprised if they polish them! I dont have any doubt that their kitchen will be just as clean. I could not suggest any changes or improvements. This is definitely my new favourite restuarant. Well done Ajwa Team! You can be proud.

SO many vegetarian options! - I chose the Vegan Kashmiri (with Lychee and coconut) as I wanted to try something I'd not had before. It was delicious, and I had it with the Vegan Naan which was also lovely. Staff were amazing and very attentive/kind. x

We have eaten here many times and had several takeaways. The food is the absolute best. Cooked fresh to order and you pick a dish and ask for the chill heat to be increased or lowered. So I ordered prawn Dansak and have the chilli heat lowered. Perfect! You really won’t be able to beat this Indian restaurant for quality. The staff are friendly and approachable. It does get busy at the weekend so be prepared to wait slightly longer for your food. But trust me, it’s worth the wait. And it’s bring your own alcohol. So a win win !

We visited Ajwa as part of a large group. The staff were absolutely first class, polite, cheerful, knowledgeable about their dishes, and really efficient. The food was delicious and arrived in a very timely manner. Don't let the outside of the restaurant put you off or you'll miss out on a really fabulous meal with great service. Oh and obviously don't forget to take your own drinks because they don't serve any other than water I believe. There's no corkage charge either so the overall cost is kept down. I really wish more restaurants did this.

Just came back from our Sunday buffet lunch. OMG service was great both Raz and our waiter whom I didn’t get his name but looked totally like ‘John Legend’!!! Were so attentive and engaged in plenty of conversations with us whist doing their job. The food was excellent as always and plentiful. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean and light. The music subtle and enjoyable . WE WILL BE BACK , MANY THANKS. Debbie and Ian ( Jago).

Superb food, the best curries in Somerset. The service was excellent, the decor is simple and fresh. We was a group of 13 and every single one of us commented on the amazing food. I had: Chicken Bhuna and Peshwari naan. Parking is free at the bus station after 6pm if I remember correctly. Thank you and see you again soon insha'Allah.

No alcohol is sold here, but they don't mind you bringing in your own if you want to drink. The food is really nice and the service is good.

I moved to the area recently having lived in London for the last 15 years. Researching indian restaurants in the area this place seemed to have quite good reviews so I thought I would give it a go. I’m not one to write negative reviews (or in fact reviews all that often) but I feel this is very warranted. I ordered two curries, three side dishes and a starter. One of the two curries literally tastes like a tomato stew and totally bland, with quite a strong taste of canned tomatoes - albeit it had a few few fresh tomatoes in it too. The other curry the only taste of spice was the tikka marinade on the chicken. Every dish tasted like spices are on ration at this restaurant ! I thought maybe they are having an off day so I called them up…. The manger told me there is nothing wrong with any of it and put the phone down on me ! The onion bhaji were soggy, tasteless and just tasted of oil, the channa was fairly tasteless and the chickpeas were undercooked, and the curries as mentioned were very very bland indeed. If you enjoy a tasty curry I would not recommend and the attitude when I raised this was awful. I don’t believe for a moment that the guys who work here would be happy to eat the food they are serving. Dreadful

Food was to a good standard but the service let it down. We opted for the buffet menu which had to be pre-orederd. It wasn't the buffet you could help yourself to. The food we received was tasty but some of us left disappointed as the food arrived at different times and not all together. Be it that we were a big table of 12 but the restaurant wasn't that busy. Maybe understaffed? Not sure. I would go again in the hopes that service could be better

When it comes to Indian food I'm quite the critique and have no issues handing out 1 star reviews. Today I went for the Sunday buffet which is cooked on demand from a set menu. The food was absolutely amazing!, they've really impressed me!. Please book a table or order a takeaway as soon as you're able.. you won't be disappointed!!. I shall be returning!.

Had a takeaway, 2 curries, 2 naans, £30! It was ok but quite expensive for what it was. The Chicken Korma was fairly tasteless unfortunately. The Rajah's was a lot better and a lot cheaper.

I am vegetarian and we tell them two plates for samosa and they give me one vegetarian and one meat samosa i am Hindu thay don't care what happened with us and manager said to me we take only one order for main course and kitchen is busy for just one naan we have to wait 30 minutes,,,so eat curry without naan and go out and than also we paid bill,,,,not for me good experience,,,

Ambience, food and service were all excellent. I was very impressed by the vast menu and value for money. We were a large table with children ranging from under 1-10 years, and felt incredibly welcome and very well catered for. Staff were attentive, polite and friendly with both adults and children. Food was delicious, flavourful and great portion sizes. I also noticed a great selection of vegetarian options. Myself and the the other guests were very pleased to have dined here and all agreed that we will be returning (many times I expect!). Our thanks and appreciation to all involved with the preparation, cooking and service. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience at Ajwa, from being family friendly to the delicious food. Our table had 13 people - adults and children ranging from 11months - 10 years old. The service was personal, friendly and efficient. My daughter enjoyed trying some of the food and staff were very interactive with her and the other children at the table. I enjoyed my meal, I tried a range of starters which were delicious and a tasty korma and rice for my main. The portion sizes were perfect, the timing of food demonstrated how attentive the staff were - lots of checks on how we were, if we all received our food etc. All round fantastic experience and we will be back next time we visit Wells! Thank you to the small team who served us yesturday aswell as the cheffor the delicious food!

Took a chance on this little gem while passing through Wells. Some of the nicest Indian food we've ever eaten (and believe me we eat it often) Don't be put off by the outward appearance of the restaurant as it is nicely decorated inside. Staff very welcoming and attentive despite being short staffed. Highly recommended.

I've enjoyed the buffet here in a Sunday, but BEWARE the prices have gone up and there they're not listed anywhere. The buffet is now £3 more than advertised on the menu!! All meals and bears have gone up. For 2 meals I ended up paying £6 more than previously. That's not fair! Especially when not told anywhere of the huge price hike.

Very poor meal, starting with the onion barji. None of us liked our food, as it was unanimously tasteless and dry. In fact today, over a week after our visit we all agreed it was the worst Indian food we’d ever had. Really wanted to support this new establishment but simply cannot.

What an amazing fine dining place walkable from our apartment ..loved the Indian vegetarian food options there .. good and polite staffs great taste for Indian cuisine… delicious Indian food .. must go 😍👍

Came down from london for a few days and this is the best curry I have ever had The staff was really friendly

We only went here because the Indian restaurant in Shepton was closed but what a stroke of luck! I will always come here in future when I am in the area! The exterior is absolutely nothing special but once you step inside it's another story. It's bright and calm and the waiters were brilliant. Not from the falsely overly friendly mould that so many are nowadays. They were respectful, kind, friendly, available without being intrusive. I suffer with anxiety and I did not feel uncomfortable for one moment. They do not serve alcohol, but you can take your own. They don't even charge corkage! Of the drinks they do serve, I had a sparkling mineral water and I was so pleased to find that it was local (from Cheddar) and in a glass bottle! As for the food, what can I say? It was the best curry I've had for a long time, perhaps ever. We order 3 curries between us to get a variety along with mushroom rice and Bombay aloo. Everything was perfect. The mushroom rice was incredible. We completely over ate but it really was so delicious. My only concern is that, without the large profit margin which many restaurants make on serving alcohol, and with such reasonable prices on the food, they won't make enough money to sustain them. That would be a great shame.

Trying again as it would be nice to know the management have taken notice. *** Nice restaurant, nice staff, very very unpleasant food poisoning. *** Finally went here on Wednesday 20th April after meaning to go for ages. Friendly staff and delicious food. And we can walk there! You take your own alcohol too so that’s also a fab bargain and you can drink what you like best rather than what a place has. The inside is really nicely done out, even though the outside looks very basic. *However*, towards the end of dinner my wife started to struggle to eat her chicken bhuna. We always have the same favourite dishes and I’ve never seen her not finish one before. In the end she had to go outside for air. As she had left some food I finished that off as I don’t like food getting wasted. Paid the bill, left a tip (£70 all in) and went outside. By the time we had walked the ten minutes home my wife had to go straight into the toilet and suffered violent simultaneous vomiting and diahorrea. It was just horrible. To add to this, about an hour later the very same thing happened to me. We then spent a sleepless night, getting up five or six times each to be significantly ill again. The following two days, neither of us could go to work as we were so rough, continually throwing up or running to the toilet…or generally both together. Coupled with a temperature of 38.8 degrees it was all very unpleasant indeed. Our two children who were with us (and ate a different meal) were absolutely fine, and the only common thing my wife and I ate on the day in question was the chicken bhuna, plus it was a very quick effect so I am pretty sure it was that dish. Unfortunately I honestly don’t feel confident going back again now. I think it would be good for the owners to look into this incident to ensure it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Such a shame as the place really is nice and the staff are genuinely lovely. And the food is delicious too…but we evidently got some that was very wrong.
