Great place for a coffee and some cake. Also serves alcohol and meals. Nice atmosphere, with tables and lounging sofas. Staff very helpful, live sports shown. Has outdoor seating, some of which is undercover.

Best chocolate brownie ever and I've eaten many over the years. Great friendly guys. Really good cup of Earl Grey. I shall be looking out for that blend/company. Wish we had AJ's here in Wells.

Staff weren’t particularly friendly, service took a long time, and I had food poisoning after from undercooked sausages. Because of this, I couldn’t possibly recommend.

A gem of a place playing decent music and serving great drinks. Food is ok for snacks.

Arrived for breakfast as we have done several times recently only to be told that there was only one oven working so they couldn’t do a full English breakfast, no problem, we decided on 2x poached eggs with bacon from the breakfast menu with a side of mushrooms- only to be told a side of mushrooms wasn’t possible, or any extras at all. So, we ordered the poached eggs and bacon, waited a while, it eventually came out only to find that the egg whites were not cooked, I don’t mind a runny yolk poached egg, but I like the whites cooked! It honestly looked like something my 9 year old child had attempted to cooked. Sloshed on top of the under cooked toast. I politely asked for my eggs to be cooked a little more- by this time my husband had finished eating and mine arrived- only one egg had been re-cooked and slapped on the same piece of anaemic looking soggy toast. Never again, absolutely awful

I wasn't impressed with breakfast choice. Was told we couldn't have the breakfasts wanted because they "only had one oven". When my food came it had bacon on it that i didn't ask for (i was disgusted as i am vegetarian) . All in all we didn't really enjoy our food and wouldn't go back. Probably a nice place to just come for tea and cake.

Fantastic breakfast and great value

We love this local cafe bar and decided to book ahead for a singer to guarantee a table. I knew the table we wanted but not the number. I rang a couple of weeks ago and described the table position to the female staff member. She confirmed that as you face the bar it’s the tall table for two on the left. Table 12 booked for 6.30. We arrived on time to find people already sat there. We queried it with the bar staff and they showed us the diary with their booking and ours underneath. How could this happen it’s an intimate place with only a few tables? She explained that even if you request a particular table they can move you, so you have to state on booking “do not move”. How ridiculous! It didnt t help that one of the party is affiliated to the bar so we were never going to win. Anyway the female bar tender was very apologetic and said we could sit pretty much anywhere we wanted. The singers were brilliant and we had a lovely evening. It’s just a shame that the barman with the long hair is so miserable. He passed me a wine glass straight from the dishwasher which was wet and warm. He literally huffed at me when I implied that I wasn’t happy about it. Please try and serve with a smile, it doesn’t take much. I wasn’t being rude or unreasonable. If you don’t like dealing with customers perhaps you shouldn’t be front of house as this is a lovely bar and you are letting it down. The other bar staff were friendly and helpful.

Twice tables not reserved when I'd received email confirmations. No apologies from owner. 2nd time we visited some of the staff were extremely rude. Won't be visiting again.

Great breakfast for two this morning, great produce and well cooked, but mushrooms missing on both breakfasts...? Good value however, and very good service from smiley staff. Outside area is pleasant enough to sit out and eat, but could have done with a good sweep, cigarette butts and debris blowing about, maybe from the night before? Happy to return though.

Mix of indoor, outdoor and undercover seating. Cafe/sports bar, serves a good selection of reasonably priced food. Don't expect an expansive selection but a breakfast and lunch menu. Buttermilk pancakes with bacon & fresh fruit are really good.

I rarely give five stars. But this store is just great. Many vegan, breakfast and brunch menus. The coffee here is the best I've had in England. Super nice staff. Simply great atmosphere!

Poor breakfast choices with no option of wholemeal bread. No options to alter or change options. Bathroom dirty and dusty.

Great place to sit and relax with a cup of tea / coffee great .and the fresh home cooked cakes are excellent so soft and light . And leave you wanting more and the staff were very polite and helpful. So thanks to all the staff for their support. Will definitely 💯 call again.

Perfect cozy cafe to enjoy breakfast/ dinner. Full english breakfast was delicious. I would recommend everyone to try AJ’s delux hot chocolate (must try)

A lovely cafe convenient for the South West Coast Path, with the best tasting coffee in the area.

Delicious coffee, very tasty breakfast and friendly and homly atmosphere. Aj's caffee was busy when we came in. There was only one table left and they just stopped serving breakfast. Staff kindly took our order and extended the breakfast time for us. Despite serving a large party we didn't wait long for the food. Highly recommend.

Great food, coffee and cake! I had the ploughman's lunch which was reasonably priced and the plate was packed, I highly recommend. The coffee was really good and the brownie I had was delicious. If I lived in the area I would almost certainly be stopping by all the time. AJ's is also dog friendly which tips my rating to a 5* 😁

Very nice atmosphere, the tapas & the Spanish guitar was amazing but it was very busy & we were lucky to get a table, definitely worth booking in the future, due to it being so busy it took about 40 minutes for the food to come, but all in all a great time!

Service was good, food was good... Seating poor quality... All the raised seating insccesable if you have disabilities of any sort.

Always loved it here but very disappointed that they have recently put the prices of a latte with non dairy milk up to a very high price . It cost £9.95 for two lattes ! For exactly the same 2 coffees with non dairy milk, in Fowey, Brown Sugar the price was £7.15.

Fantastic food, Gluten and Dairy free . Open mic nights once per month, plus entertainment daily. Cool relaxed atmosphere. Go and ask A.J about the name. Plus buy a beer Cheers.

Very impressive place - stylish and roomy inside and user friendly with some good comfortable sofas and various other seating plus a lovely covered outside area. Great coffee and one of the best sausage or bacon sandwiches around before 10am it's only 3 quid which is exceptional value. It also does alcohol so I think becomes more bar like later in the day. Service is friendly and efficient and parking is directly outside if it's full there's free street parking around the area anyway. Worth walking up the nearby Sea Road as well for the views and the houses.

Great value, tasty pizzas before 6pm. Friendly staff and great selection of drinks. Nice outside area for when the weather is good.

Lovely coffee and a great cheese and ham panini. Higher prices than the midlands (Nottingham) but seem reasonable for the area. Great location with parking Real bonus that this place is dog friendly too.

For the first time in my adult life I have been called the C word by what appeared to be the manager of AjS bar after complaining that they were mopping bleach under our table while we were still finishing our drinks at 10:15 on a Saturday night. He was incredibly aggressive with no provocation whatsoever. It was shameful and an upsetting experience for myself and my wife and our 2 friends. We are all in our 50’s and had just enjoyed a meal out when we decided on a last drink at AJS what a mistake. Avoid this place until this guy is removed. He literally screamed at us
