Enjoyed an impeccable meal tonight at Ajab Gajab. To start I went for the vegetable momos and a goan fish (salmon) curry for the main. The food was delicious and clearly had been cooked with great care and attention. Really delicious -possibly the best Indian meal I've ever eaten! Service was great, warm and welcoming and I can't wait to go back and try more from this gem of an eatery.

Recently went with group of 10 people to try this place out, seriously the food was below average, Sambar with thick with chana Dal and cold. Too be honest a worst Sambar. Rest all the food was very bland. I wasn't expecting this standard and bit pricey too.

Great Indian food. We eat a fair bit of Indian/asian food and this is right up there with the best. Great balance of flavours and spices. Lovely service. Food clearly home cooked by a skilled chef.

Well what can I say booked last minute and fitted in could not wished for a better meal food hot tasty and service fantastic all the staff are so pleasant and helpful. One of my favourite places to eat out. Thanks to all the staff and chef’s wishing you all a healthy and lucky new year

Although the food is clearly well prepared and presented to a high standard. We were disappointed with our main meals. The chicken korma lacked flavour and did not taste like a usual korma dish. We also felt the same about the butter chicken. Opting for two milder curries and the butter chicken was extremely spicy. Our starters were lovely but did lack enough mango chutney. Our starters were lovely, we just wish we felt the same about our mains.

Food was delicious, as always, it arrived hot and early.

This is an unpretentious Indian restaurant that specialises in street food. The restaurant is on the first floor, and is spotlessly clean. We tried a variety of dishes, it was clear that everything had been freshly cooked. Particular favourites were the tandoori chicken, crispy Okra. The chicken chettinad was brilliant as was the biriani.

Salt and pepper prawns the batter literally fell off and was cold, kathi roll was ok and was the onion, delivery driver clearly had 5-6 orders he literally ran down my driveway. Don’t accept orders if you are overrun. Claiming for the prawns and will try again but disappointed

Takeaway was very poor. Burnt poppadoms tasteless dal and generally a poor curry. Always been happy eating in the restaurant but will definitely not be ordering takeaway. Nearby £100 spent and most of it went in the bin.

Fantastic service and food, highly recommended!

A different level. By far the best take away I’ve experienced in Formby. Deliciously succulent lamb chops. A beautifully spicy Masala. Fresh, tasty, succulent, unlike almost all other venues with their tasteless dry homogeneous offerings. This place stands apart and will be a weekly treat. Yes, it’s pricier than elsewhere but the quality of their food justifies it. And the delivery guy and lady on the phone were both exemplary. Every other restaurant or take away in Formby I’ve experienced doesn’t come remotely close. 10/10.

Brilliant food! Best Indian I’ve had in a long time

I recently visited Ajab Gajab Cafe, and overall, the experience was delightful. The ambiance stood out right from the moment we entered—the dining room was beautifully decorated with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and made sure we felt comfortable throughout our meal. The menu offered a great variety of Indian dishes, and we decided to try the Soya Chilly Chicken, Chicken Momos, Egg Fried Rice, and Masala Dosa. One thing that impressed us was how quickly the food was served, and I appreciated the Indian-style steel plates, which were warm and added a nice touch. The food itself was mostly delicious. The Soya Chilly Chicken was flavorful and cooked well, though a few pieces of chicken were slightly undercooked. The Egg Fried Rice was fantastic, with a generous portion size. The Chicken Momos, while tasty, were smaller than expected and a bit mild in flavor. The Masala Dosa was very good, but I feel the sambhar could be improved for a more authentic taste. The chutney was just average. In terms of value, the portion sizes were fair for the price, and we left feeling fully satisfied. Despite a couple of minor issues, the overall experience was very enjoyable, and I would highly recommend Ajab Gajab Cafe for a nice meal out.

Absolutely amazing Indian food. I usually get delivery and again great service. the food here is truly astonishing great portions and even for a picky eater like me.I could still eat till I am full defiantly give this place a try trust me you will love it.

Always amazing food at Resturant quality

Although the curries were tasty, there were 6 pieces of chicken and 6 pieces of lamb in them - I expect more than 12 pieces of meat for £24.90 and poppadoms were burnt. The meal did not meet the standard I would expect for a total price of £42.55.

The place is a gem,food is authentic and totally outstanding would recommend to all,you’ve got to try the chicken lollipops 😋 couldn’t fault it at all delicious 👌👌👌👌👌

Our first time ordering here and it was exceptional. Food arrived in the time given, hot, well packaged and absolutely delicious! Some of the dishes we hadn’t tried before but it was all fabulous. The portions are massive and all full of flavour and well seasoned. Highly recommend!

I had a fantastic Indian dining experience here. The samosa chaat, tandoori paneer, chola, and naan were absolutely out of this world. The flavors were incredible and left a lasting impression. Other dishes like the veg momos, paneer tikka masala, and chicken were also really good. Overall, a great meal with delicious food! Highly recommend.

Wow this place is fantastic. First time I have ordered and the portions were a decent size, food was absolutely delicious. Probably one of the best Indian take aways I’ve ever had.

In a word ,WOW the food was amazing, food tasted delicious,we got Chicken Tikka masala ,and the salt and pepper chips are fantastic,was very speedy delivery too,and even used recyclable containers. If you haven't been before you must try it ,you won't be disappointed ,it's safe to say it's the best food in the area 😁

Didn’t actually visit the restaurant but had ordered our meal as a ‘ take away ‘ and had it delivered. Although we live a good few miles away from the restaurant the delivery arrived within minutes of the estimated time given. Food was well packed and, with the exception of one item of plastic, everything else was delivered in bio degradable containers. Very impressed. The chutney tray was excellent with all the different dips. We also ordered naans and poppadums and a couple of starters as well. The main courses were superb! My daughter had a curried lamb shank which literally fell off the bone. My prawn tawa was delicious as were the other two mains. The meal portions were extremely generous to such an extent that what we didn’t eat then was reheated the next day and still tasted just as good ! Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and would highly recommend this restaurant for service, quality and value for money and very tasty food !

The best Indian food I've ever tasted. Very tasty and good quality food Waitress very pleasant and helped with choosing dishes. Would recommend the dosa - a bit pricey for what it is but very tasty. Highly recommended. Plenty of gluten free options.

The food from Ajab Gajab is amazing! It's our favourite Indian in the Sefton area! Delivery is always on time or slightly early, the food is always piping hot and consistently delicious!

Went at 6pm on Saturday evening . Staff welcoming and friendly. Food very good and tasty but the cheesecake I had was still nearly frozen and rather tasteless.Seating and table ok so generally not bad but as time went on the noise level of people chatting and laughing became unbearably loud so we left .Needs some sort of sound absorbing screens or more soft furnishings .

Ajab Gajab lives up to its high Google rating, thanks to its amazing food that bursts with flavors. This isn't your typical "just throw some spices in" restaurant; you can tell they care about their food and prepare it to a high standard. I especially recommend the chicken butter masala for its perfect balance of sweet and spicy flavors. The friendly service, always with a smile, ensures a great dining experience. The restaurant's aesthetic is modern and inviting, adding to the overall enjoyment.

The best Indian/ Asian food on Merseyside. By a country mile. The sharing platter for Two is a must have. Succulent top quality meats cooked to perfection. Ideal for One person if you aren’t eating carbohydrates. Also a great sharing starter for Two. The Lamb Biryani is wonderful and the crispy Cauliflower is off the scale. As is the Samosa Chat. You haven’t eaten anything like this, if you give this place a chance it will become your regular go to restaurant. As you can tell I love the place and so do my friends.

We had the best South Asian meal we have had for a long time. There were unusual choices of mains, with street food favourites, and everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was good and very friendly. We will definitely go back soon!

Usually very good but this time I was disappointed. Okra was all garam flour and very little okra. Chicken was burnt on one side in the curry.

Saga lamb was beautiful bar one bit of meat and piping hot aswell as the rice. The garlic naan was lovely but it was luke warm which was a bit annoying or be full marks. Best Indian in formby, pricey but you pay for quality! Cimmamon take note 💩

WOW, this food is incredible. I’ve lived in Thailand, Malaysia, and travelled Australia and Europe and this is by far the most delicious Indian food I’ve ever tasted. All incredibly fresh, hot, and packed with flavour. Cannot recommend this place enough, you MUST come here. The service is professional, friendly and very helpful.

We have eaten here a few times and had a couple of takeaways. The food is consistently delicious! We have tried many of the things on the menu, some several times as they are such a favourite. For us the Dahl makhani is the best Dahl we have ever tried. We are both huge fans of the chat and the samosa chat, crispy cauliflower, and the momos as starters. The naan bread are so light and pillowy. And we haven’t even mentioned the lamb rogan Josh! Yum! We prefer being in the restaurant as the staff are lovely, full of smiles and a joy to interact with. Needless to say we are huge fans and look forward to trying the entire menu.

If you love Indian food it's a must, worth travelling to, not just for locals. I can honestly say it's a match for the famous Mowgli.

Have been to this restaurant a few times and each time it delivers without fail. The food is authentic and unspoilt with additives/colourings etc. The whole experience from start to finish is faultless. Would highly recommend.

My youngest daughter took me for a Mother’s Day meal today. She has been there a few times with her husband and celebrated her 1st wedding anniversary there and I absolutely loved it! The food, the lovely staff, even the toilets are amazing! I would definitely go back! And I have enough food left that I took home for dinner tomorrow night! Thanks to all the staff and my daughter

Very nice meal, stand-out flavours (the chat-blast was a great appetiser) and the naan was lovely and light, not the thick bready type. My son's lamb bhuna was particularly good. Very impressed and we really appreciated the polite, non-pushy service. Only 4* atmosphere because it was so quiet on a Wednesday evening. Fair prices and spotlessly clean. We'd certainly return if we lived a bit closer! Thank you.

Perfect for vegetarians and fussy eaters like myself, separate section for vegetarians with lots of variety and choice.My partner loves his meat and never disappointed with the quality or quantity of his food. I sampled a cauliflower dish made with chilli sauce and it was delicious. Service as always was perfect, highly recommended.

Another perfect meal with top marks also for customers service, never can fault. As a vegetarian who doesn’t like a lot of grease or oil in my meals, I have now tried most vegetarian options and can honestly say never disappointed. Bread is always fresh and rice is how rice should be cooked. Sampled a cauliflower sweet chilli last night which I will definitely get again. Thank you to all for another enjoyable evening

Food was very early which is normally a concern, however all of the food was hot and mostly lovely especially the naan bread. However the lamb bhuna was almost inedible and tasted of pure cardamom. Will probably give it another go eating in.

Overall, this is a good place for a taste of India. The service and presentation of the dishes was great. The food itself was a bit mixed but mostly positive: some dishes were very flavourful and satisfying whereas others were less so because the spices did not integrate into the dish, leaving a taste of the raw spices on your palette. The place is clean and welcoming, but when busy, the noise of all the conversations makes it harder to have your own. I think that some soft furnishings could help with this issue. I think once you discover what you like, this would be a regular haunt.

Myself and my wife ordered a curry for delivery from Ajab Gajab and have tried every curry house locally so far. This place is AMAZING!!! The chicken & prawns were cooked to perfection, sensational flavours and a real taste of India! Service with a smile from the owner, very polite and professional, we cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you very much, can’t wait for our next dining experience with Ajab Gajab! We had booked a table and it was good we did the restaurant was s busy with a lovely atmosphere! We had popadoms and a tray of chutneys to start the popadoms were so lovely and crispy. For a main course I had the tawa pepper salmon! It was amazing the sauce did not overpower the delicate taste of salmon. My husband had the lamb saag wala again a beautiful dish with the most tender lamb chunks. Cannot fault this restaurant we have been many times and had numerous takeaways and the food and service has always been amazing

This is some of the best food of its kind, I have ever eaten! Truly wonderful. The lamb is cooked to perfection. Everything is perfectly cooked, slowly, infused, marinated, everything!! I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s worth every penny! I’ve had a quite a bit off the menu and it all incredible.

My first visit to this restaurant, it definitely won’t be my last. Pleasant restaurant with a nice ambience, it was very clean and had lovely, helpful staff. Lots of choice for vegetarians, the different offerings on the menu were appealing and did not disappoint. The cauliflower starter was amazing and I was delighted with my paneer makhani. The peshwari naan was outstanding and the rice nice and fluffy. Everything was hot and well presented and it was well worth the visit.

The food is incredible authentic Indian food. I travel India a lot and know when I find good Indian dishes and this place is absolutely perfect! The staff are outstanding, very polite and knowledgeable about their food. The setting is also perfect. Highly recommended!

A great family run restaurant with amazing food every dish is as good as the next I can’t pick a favourite as there all absolutely delicious very generous size meals with fresh ingredients, also very reasonably priced I’ve been to mowgli which is also street food but not a patch on the food served here , great service to, and I now have a loyalty cardwhich will be full in no time

Food was very tasty- I had the madras and the korma and the rice that had peas in the name very very good. Definitely will be ordering this again soon.

Ajab Gajab , what can I say about the food in this place , simply exceptional from the crispy fresh popadoms to the amazing flavours of the starters and mains cooked to perfection , authentic delicious indian street food . Had a meal here on Saturday afternoon. Chat blasts which are off the scale gorgeous. Meat platter with chicken and lamb. The chicken is the nicest I have tasted in an Indian. So succulent. Then shared a Lamb Sag with melt in the mouth, lamb. Lovely service too. If you have not been, go, you will not be disappointed.

Restaurant is upstairs. We got takeaway as restaurant closes at 930pm on Sundays. The owner was very proud of his food. He claimed that this will be the best Indian food you will ever taste. So please try them. One day will return to dine in.
