Loved this experience. I was made to feel welcome and custom appreciated. Service was on the slow side and it wasn't handled particularly well at the start. I did decide to forego the wine tasting pairing and cheese course as a result. Having said that, the food was spectacular and the wines I did sample were great (thank you for letting me taste from the wine pairing menu for the white - great flexibility to make up for the slow start). The seven course is well worth the price and the wait staff were friendly and happy to chat over the dishes and ingredients. The Sake Ginger Grapefruit cocktail I ordered at the start was a revelation as well!

Nothing to say about the kitchen. Not exceptional but good. But the services is a little too much for me. Meals presentation are done by heart like at school with no emotion. We spent a good time but stayed with no specific remember and no wahoo effect!

While trying to choose our dining options for a food-focused weekend in Edinburgh, I was slightly hesitant about booking aizle, since I hadn't seen a sample menu. I'm very glad that I didn't let that stop me, because the dishes were all delicious and inventive. All of the flavors were well balanced, the presentation was on point, and we had a tough time choosing our favorite dishes. Service was on a rotating basis, and our table was handled by 3 or 4 different wait staff, with two in particular serving the majority of the dishes. All were extremely friendly and efficient, projecting the impression of true pride and enjoyment in their work. I had read some critical reviews of the hotel-lobby location, and while there were a few times I noticed luggage trolleys and guests pass by in the hallway, the space is well-separated from the hotel. It's not a fully immersive location, but it didn't feel distracting. The space itself has a bit of a botanical greenhouse feel that made me think of an indoor garden party. The clientele on the evening of our visit was a varied mix with young foodie couples, small groups, and refined older pairs. The dress code was equally varied with smart casual being the most common. The only thing that kept my experience from being completely perfect was the glass of prosecco that started the evening. It had so little effervescence that it was just a small step away from still wine. After it was served, there was no follow-up, before the first course was served, so I never had the chance to question it. And the food distracted me enough to just let it go. If you're an aficionado of bubbles, I'd suggest asking for input to ensure you find something to your tastes.

Extremely disappointed in this restaurant. The staff were surly and obviously couldn’t be bothered being there. Only one member of staff managed to smile. The food was fine but we all agreed that we were still hungry when we left. We have been here before and enjoyed our meal. This time we came with friends and I was embarrassed to have recommended it.

This is perhaps the best food I have ever eaten in my life. We went here for my graduation meal and had the 7 course tasting menu (although with starting snacks and petit fours it was more like 9!). Every course was excellent, with the pre-desert sorbet being mine and my parents favourite! I am vegetarian and this was catered for amazingly, with my dishes being bought out and talked through at the same time and in the same manner as my parents were. Contrary to some other reviews here, I really enjoyed the design of the restaurant, and found the open "garden room" vibes to be really pleasant. Each table has plenty of privacy and are all slightly different. Service was 10/10 and every waiter we had was incredibly knowledgable and helpful.

Booked Aizle for my partners birthday and was sadly a little bit underwhelmed by the food. We had the 7 course taster and I had the wine pairing. (My partner had other drinks). Although beautiful to look at not all of the dishes had the flavour, or depth of flavour we’d both hoped for. The meat dish (Hogget) was actually quite tough and very heavy on the palette as were the accompanying bits. The plate as a whole was actually quite hard going to get through . (We both commented at the time. ) I should say that the various sweets were amazing and are very much the star of the show. Wanting the full experience, I opted for the wine pairing and was not disappointed. Every glass was an absolute cracker although I’d have liked maybe a wee bit more in each glass (a theme perhaps…..). The girl serving was extremely knowledgeable, and while I’m definitely not, it’s always nice to be told the ins and outs of what youre drinking and why it matches the food. We’ve had various tasting menus over the years and I have to say, the portions here were the smallest I’ve experienced. I knew before I went roughly how much it would cost and I wasn’t expecting / didn’t get much change from £400. It’s a real shame it just wasn’t worth the money. My partner and I had a lovely time, the place is relaxed, we had a really nice table and although the gaps between dishes were quite long, we really didn’t mind as it allowed us to relax and take the experience in. No complaints about the staff. We pretty much had a different waiter/waitress on every course which some people may not like but we had no issues. For us it boiled down to one question, would we go back again? And although I really wanted it to be a yes, the answer sadly is no.

There are a few extremely good restaurants in hotels in Edinburgh, this is one of them. The tasting menu was superb. If you need to know everything about a dish and how it will be presented, it's not for you. If you can place your trust in a skilled chef and the front of house staff who try to give a sense of theatre, you will enjoy. (They do cater for allergies, by the way). Food and wine parings were good, as were the non-alcoholic alternatives. The slight criticism is it is a 'hotel' restaurant. It s a bit of a goldfish bowl, and well lit. Atmosphere, therefore, is slightly lacking. I would love for this restaurant to move to a dim basement somewhere in the city.

The food is outstanding and worthy of a Michelin Star, so the kitchen has it all together and some, where this did not stack up was front of house, as previously highlighted the seating just does not make sense, while some diners will be accommodated with fabulous booths/ couches we ended up stuck in the middle of room with the most unflattering table - this in our opinion will always detract from what this place is trying to achieve with a 2+ hour experience

Our dinner at Aizle was a delete from start to finish. My sister and I could not agree on which dish was best. The subtle use of local rare ingredients was sublime. To be seated on a light bright airy courtyard. Then start the dinner off with three delicious snacks which reminded us of home. Having the list of ingredients for the nights menu was a nice little tease of what was to come. Making us second guess what was going to come with what. The two day trout was fighting with the bream for fish dish of the day. And the hoggit was just yummy. Definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Food wise the tasting menu was v good and no complaints The downside was we thought the venue was strange, being in the middle of an open plan hotel lobby and definitely lacked atmosphere The positives it’s good to have great food in the hotel if you’re staying there, so a massive plus for the Kimpton If we stay at the Kimpton again, we’d probably visit Aizle , but if we were staying elsewhere we’d probably try somewhere else

Booked this restaurant before we left home as the reviews relating to the culinary skills of he chef sounded exciting. The Tasting Menu did not disappoint as each dish left you feeling the Chef had a skill set above the norm. The dishes flowed from start to finish and were executed extremely well. It wasn't just about presentation as the depth of flavour was something else. The overall rating has nothing to do with the above so what lets it own? Service and atmosphere I am afraid. We had a 7.30pm booking and arrived at 7.10 to have a drink first. There seemed to be an urgent need to show us to our table despite there being no one else in the restaurant and it was this sense of urgency that continued throughout the evening and frankly impacted upon the above rating. There were 2 members of waiting staff and in my opinion one knew exactly how to manage themselves and did a wonderful job throughout and the other needs to calm down and be less pushy with their service. A Tasting Menu is not a five minute experience and can take a few hours to truly appreciate each served dish. Being observant and anticipating diners needs is one thing but quite different when they are made to feel rushed so staff can complete their shift and go home. I would mention there were 3 tables dining throughout the evening making a total of 6 diners so hardly a busy night. This point links into my second area of disappointment which was the atmosphere or the total lack of it. We went for a similar dining experience previously in the week at another restaurant and it was full so there are people out there wanting this style of dining. I am not sure if this is a regular Thursday night for Aizle but if this restaurant relies entirely on full sittings on Friday and Saturday evenings only it is unlikely to stand the test of time. In my opinion that would be a great shame as the food is delicious so it may help those in charge to go through this review to see how they can address the points I have made. It is an expensive evening and diners have an expectation that all areas of service should be on point and good food alone will not guarantee longevity.

My wife and I went to Aisle for an evening meal on Valentine’s Day. We were reminded how good the food is – just pitch-perfect. Innovative, interestingly presented and amazingly tasty. The staff are well-informed, friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed. It is undoubtedly competitive with the other Michelin-starred in Edinburgh, and we can only assume that the ‘garden-room’ setting has held it back. I imagine that could be improved with a bit of thought and the décor changed a little (for instance, our table for two was quite small). Anyway, this restaurant is outstanding, central and not to be missed!

Hidden within the Kimpton hotel in a central garden room Aizle has a laid back european vibe. It only offers a set tasting menu so be bold and go with it, we tried dishes that we would not normally order and were very pleasantly surprised. And eight courses is a lot, even if each course was quite small, we struggled to finish everything. Service was friendly and informative but suggest you give yourselves time, it took four hours.

We had such a great tasting experience at aizle. The menu of ingredients doesn't give too much away so every dish that comes out is a surprise. There were a mixture of finger food and cutlery needing dishes which were served on imaginative plates and added a playful element. Staff were fantastic. Only minor complaint was that we had to move back our plans for afterwards and then cancel as we were at the restaurant for 2 and a half hours which we didn't expect for being a weeknight and only a few other tables there. Food was fabulous and if that's how long it takes to create then fair enough was worth it.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Edinburgh, our favourite city. We were fortunate enough to visit both Aizle and the new restaurant Lyla and were absolutely delighted by the experience at each venue. Both very different but the same excellent standard of cuisine and service. All the staff were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the food and made us feel very special . It was difficult to choose a favourite course as we enjoyed every single one but I think the lamb dish at Aizle was spectacular and it is even more difficult to select a favourite dish from the 10 course menu at Lyla but the lobster hors d’oeuvre was mouthwatering as was the scallop dish and the smoked trout but each course was amazing and the care and attention to detail in the presentation (art on a plate) was spectacular. We would certainly recommend the wine flight and the sommelier at Lyla transported us to the various countries of origin in his amazing description of each delectable wine. A sincere thank you to all staff at each venue who made our visits an experience to treasure we look forward to returning. We would also recommend staying at the superb hotel 21212 where again the service was exceptional

Located in the courtyard of the Kimpton Charlotte Square, my first impression was that we had stumbled in to a cafe at a garden centre! Our welcome was less than enthusiastic. We were shown to our table in the corner of the restaurant next to a coatrack and an obsolete computer gathering dust. The corridor around the restaurant was busy with hotel traffic. Not really an aspiring Michelin setting! Service varied from very good to okay. Liked the idea of the 'ingredient list'. Definitely some significant skill in the kitchen with preparation & presentation. Dishes varied from interesting and/or imaginative to okay. Loved the lamb (though odd not to have cutlery with this course) & chocolate orange pumpkin dessert, but not so impressed by the lack luster/flavour monkfish and rather tough duck. Also, not a fan of the rather over-sweet brioche half way through the meal. For my taste, the dishes were generally over-salted. There's good competition in Edinburgh for these 'taster' menu events. Aizle's offering was rather underwhelmed and, in my opinion, there is better value to be had.

We live in Edinburgh and 5 of us went to Aizle for a birthday dinner, the second time in a few months. The setting is relaxed, the staff friendly and very well informed, and the 8-course tasting menu (with an extra cheese course) is amazing. There was not a single course that we didn’t really like (rarely happens even in a 3- or 4-course meal), and the accompanying wines were excellent. Certainly the meal was of Michelin-star quality. All in all, this was an amazing and really enjoyable dinner. We will be back – and will also try to make an excuse to try Stuart Ralston’s other (new) fine-dining experience at Lyla.

Incredible food in a unique setting. I had visited the building earlier in the week during the day and was surprised to see the area again repurposed as a restaurant in the evening. A visually stunning meal with a variety of snacks to start off the meal all presented beautifully. You can tell the chefs care deeply about the provenance of their ingredients and it shows on the menu and on the pallet. Seasoning slightly under on some of the sauces for my taste and a couple of courses came out cold but on the whole a tremendous experience.

Aizle is a beautiful restaurant situated in the Garden Room at The Kimpton Charlotte Square. We were really looking forward to our meal (we'd been watching the chef/owner compete in The Great British Menu earlier in March) and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is beautiful - very calming, low lighting, tables well spaced out and plenty of room.We had opted for the taster menu with wine pairing - you have to try this! The selection of dishes changes depending on what's in season at the time. The staff were wonderful - very knowledgable on both the food and wine they were serving. We were given a full description of each course with accompanying wine and everything was delicious. We booked this for my niece's birthday and when we had finished out desserts, the staff brought out a plate of birthday truffles - they really did look far too good to eat but I have it on good authority they were scrumptious.Everything about our visit was perfect, the attention to detail is first class, but the level of professionalism and knowledge from the staff took this night to the next level. I cannot recommend Aizle enough and should be your first choice if you are looking for beautiful food and wine, and a memorable night.

A long-awaited visit to this much-vaunted restaurant proved hugely disappointing notwithstanding the high quality of the food. Seated beside the entrance so exposed to all the hotel guests passing in the corridor, hardly the privacy one might expect for the price. An intrusive soundtrack from a nearby speaker (we thought it was the hotel disco) made it even more difficult to understand the frankly tedious explanations of each course and drink mumbled through masks (I really don't need to know who grew the potatoes, and the fish got cold while we heard how sustainable it was). The food was certainly beautifully presented and of undeniably high quality but certainly not the best we've ever eaten. At £85 I would say it is just about good value. However, the mistake I made was to order the accompanying drinks at £60 per person. Nice glasses, complemented (note to reviewers, wine cannot compliment anything) the food adequately and of reasonable quality but scandalously mean measures. I reckon that the red wine to accompany the "main" course of beef was no more than 100ml. Had I know we would simply have purchased a bottle of white and one of red for the evening, I strongly recommend others do the same.Service was generally friendly but having such a good view of the doorway I was able to see how many customers were allowed to slink off without so much as a "goodnight" or "thank you". Dinner for 2 at £320 probably justifies some gratitude.I don't mind spending money for quality but left Aizle feeling distinctly ripped off. There will be many better restaurants in Edinburgh, I am sure.

Booked in October for a table in February…..but it was so worth the wait. It’s one to keep for a special occasion. At time of writing the 6 course taster menu is £85. It wasn’t stuffy or pretentious at all. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. The surroundings lime washed tables, greenery, nice lighting. The star of the show is the incredible food and also the young, enthusiastic but well informed and passionate staff. It’s actually more than 6 courses with the welcome drink, treats, amuse bouche, pre dessert. The 6 courses are divine. You get given an envelope with the key star ingredients from the menu but nothing else. You are asked if you have any allergies or dietary requirements and they work round that. My husband is diabetic and he was able to have cheese (not an afterthought but a beautiful dish of a cheese and biscuit tasty work of art in the shape of a coral reef). I’m at a loss for words to say how beautifully prepared and how amazing each course was. Talk about exciting the tastebuds. Small but each morsel a delight. With each course a description of the ingredients and how they had bee prepared. Staff happy to answer questions and have a laugh too. There was also a pairing of wines but we decided to order our own choice. Thank you Aizle for a very special and unique evening. We will return.

Been to the old Aizle a number of times- foun the interior rather odd like it should have been renamed Palm braserrie. The interior is definitely a step down from the previous venue at newington! Had a terrible table next to the bar but then they moved us.Couple of course came as amouse bouche but really was the start of the menu- it should be classed as the bite size starters. The meat bon Bon and the selection of bites was good. The seafood panna cotta was also good as well the garlic leaf fish dish. Then it went down hill with the wagyu which was tiny and didn’t work as a combination- the green parsley didn’t work with the beef and the onion. They brand the pre desert as a desert which was ok.The deserts wasn’t that great-The chocolate in the desert wasn’t that great. We had to ask for the white wine to be chilled as was warm- which isn’t want is expected of a place of this calibre.Service was a bit rushed and haphazard. There are many places in edinburgh that can rival the food at this location now!

The food was excellent from start to finish and the service was also very good. However, the experience was marred by the feeling that we were dining in a dark corridor. Our table was one of three positioned well away from the main dining area, separated from it by plants and a screen made of old doors. We were in the corridor to the kitchen so there was a steady steam of traffic passing our table. The lighting was terrible and as it grew dark outside we could barely see the food. We mentioned this to a member of staff, who plugged another lamp in but it was still terribly dark. The lack of atmosphere and darkness definitely marred the experience.

Not really sure what to make of this but overall we wouldn’t return. The food was nice enough, the service professional and the surroundings pleasant but there was something missing. The food lacked flavour and balance, the way it was served often made it difficult to eat, there was a lack of continuity of service with different wait staff for each course, the paired wines were really underwhelming and the sense of being in a hotel lobby made it difficult to relax. It felt like style over substance but obviously we’re in a minority here so maybe we were having an off day.

A terrific meal with beautifully presented dishes, with interesting ingredients and each full of flavour. Even the "snack" between the bread and the amuse-bouche was a work of art, with duck liver held in a sweet potato lattice, accompanied by lovely beetroot and brazil nut bites (I will upload a photo of this!). This is far from being the most expensive tasting menu in town (even though prices jumped up at the start of September) but it is probably the best value, and, I would have thought, worthy of at least one Michelin star. (I do have a slight reservation about the cost of the optional cheese plate, which was lovely to look at and very tasty, but not much of a mouthful!).There is a very good wine list, although it would benefit from the addition of a couple of cheaper options. Staff were friendly and helpful, without being too attentive. The restaurant is set in a covered courtyard, and the tables are set well apart, so so it was light and airy, but with a degree of privacy, and has a good atmosphere. Dining at aizle really is an experience, not just a meal.

We're always looking for new food experiences and Aizle certainly was impressive. We visited on a weekend break to Edinburgh and were (wrongly) concerned that the meal might not live up to the price we had to pay. It was worth every single penny. Every single course was delicious, presentation made each course resemble a work of art, drinks were excellent, the service was the best we have experienced in a long time, the setting was divine with a great atmosphere and we would like to know where the serving ware is from for our own house! It is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to, unequivocally the best restaurant in Edinburgh!

Well where do I begin the food was absolutely outstanding, should have a star the flavour of each dish was so in depth. Defo worth the bill at the end . The service was also amazing, they were even so understanding about my mum falling over and breaking their vase haha, sorry about that. Most of all well done to the chefs, best meal I have ever had. If I had to pick at any faults, it was the way my mum was grabbed at the end of the night whilst I went to retrieve the phone I left at another bar prior to transfer the funds to pay for the meal, that was unappreciated, it let the whole service aspect down as she was very unhappy of how it was handled, she had no intention of walking out without paying for a meal. She was standing at the door for air and still within the grounds. I see where the workers are coming from however, especially in these current circumstances no physical contact should be made at all. However, besides this very good experience.

The food was absolutely amazing, such a range of rich flavours with lots of locally sourced food. The staff were lovely and made us feel so comfortable and welcome. Amazing atmosphere, quite relaxed and a beautiful venue. The cocktails were also delicious and complimented the food so well. Worth ordering a hot drink to get the little sweet treats too.

This is absolutely, unequivocally the best fine-dining restaurant in Edinburgh. The menu doesn't refresh as often as I used to but the food is imaginative (Asian touches to Scottish produce) and stunningly presented. Stuart packs flavour into all his dishes but the tasters/starters are always a highlight as are his fish courses. It is relatively expensive - but this is Michelin quality at significantly less cost. I'd love to see them get a star. The space is lovely...in the Kimpton. The wine list is not huge but we'll chosen....makes it easier to choose. The style is casual as restaurants in Edinburgh tend to be. The staff are always friendly and chatty (if you want to engage).

This was a return visit following an original sampling of their food and service in 2019, (at the previous location). The food and service were as good as before but the new location is superb with a light ambience and gentle buzz from other dinners. Tables were well spaced and at no time did we feel rushed. We hope to return in 2022 when hopefully the Tattoo will be open.

Aizle is a very special dining venue, which we booked for my birthday and last night we all just thought wow, what an absolutely unbelievable experience. We have been before, to the St Leondard’s venue and last year to Kimpton, but this was something else! The restaurant is elegant and relaxing, the staff are so warm and friendly and the service really is top notch. Then the food, which is just incredible! Each course is simply delicious and from the beginning to the end, the food was creative, artistic and absolutely exquisite tasting. Evidently the brigade are some of the best in the country. Matched perfectly by the paired wines – the kombucha zingy and tasty, the gin cocktail too, and the wines high quality and expertly delivered. Attention to detail is obvious throughout. We were just so well looked after, exceptional standards from each of the front of house team too!We missed an opportunity to thank the chefs for an incredible dinner and to let them know how brilliant our evening had been when we had a surprise visit from chef Patron Stuart and 2nd in command Lewis at our table and so we are writing it here. Thank you also to the very professional front of house team, all of whom were just super lovely and made us feel very welcome, almost part of a family. What a place to go, excellent if not perfect. One of Edinburgh’s best food and wine experiences, a truly sensational match made in heaven. Surely Michelin star worthy…… faultless on every level.

We got our booking from Time Out Edinburgh - the phone number was wrong which meant they weren’t expecting us. They did accommodate us but not with good grace. The food was AMAZING - 7 course taster menu that was fantastic. Don’t order coffee - it almost spoilt the petit four. The Head Waiter was VERY passive aggressive and spoilt our evening at the end. I would recommend but DO NOT get it wrong or it will be a sour experience despite amazing food.

Went with friends recently and thought the food was good, but not as good as other similar tasting dinners that we have had in Edinburgh. We also thought that the service was rushed and had the distinct impression that our table was required for a further sitting that night.

From the moment we walked in, to the time that we left, we enjoyed a 5 star dining experience. We had the seasonal taster menu...each dish presented and executed to the highest standard.....and delivered by friendly and efficient staff. In some restaurants (of this standard) the food is often served by knowledgeable people but in an over formal manner....not here. Every course was served in an informative and professional way, but in a friendly way, with no shortage of good humour, which added to the overall warmth and convivial atmosphere of the whole restaurant.Special mention goes to Jade, who was attentive throughout the evening...and Hamish....whose enthusiasm added to the whole experience. If you enjoy good food served well, in a warm and relaxing atmosphere, then you needn't look much further than Aizle….!

Honestly one of the nicest dining experiences ever. We’ve dined Michelin star before and this food and service is on the same level, in fact some of the dishes are similar and as good as 2star food we had recently. The venue in the Kimpton hotel is stunning. The tables are large and there is ample space between them so that you feel that it’s a private experience in a large room, very hard to achieve. The service from the moment we entered was kind, calming and personal. They knew from my partners email that it was my birthday, and the waitstaff wished me a happy birthday upon seating us, and a card was waiting on our table for me, it was so so special. The food from the canapés to dessert was magical. The joy of having dishes this wonderful brought to you without having to choose them is incredible. The crab and custard dish was my favourite, although the trout and the magical caramel chocolate dessert are up there too with the best fine dining plates we’ve seen. After a conversation with one of the waiters we were given a very thoughtful wine recommendation which was exactly to my taste. The other drinks during our meal including coffee and digestivo were perfectly prepared. Everyone that we spoke to answered questions with knowledge and passion and gave their opinions, they all seemed genuinely happy to talk to us about the food, about the city, about anything really. Honestly it was the staff that made this experience every single one of them could work at the top level and they absolutely made my evening. Thanks to all the staff for making it a wonderful birthday and an unforgettable meal.

Aizle has been my favourite restaurant for years; birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, because-it's-Monday... It has always had exceptional, surprising, delicious food, with EXCEPTIONAL staff - friendly, informative and they go above and beyond to make the experience special. I've never had a bad dish, never had a bad paired drink, never had a bad experience.I returned last week. The food - unbelievably good (better than before..?! MAYBE!) , the staff - incredible, as usual... and the atmosphere - so, so bad. I cannot understand why Aizle has moved into a hotel lobby? An intimate, special, expensive dinner is constantly interrupted by people strolling by with suitcases, children, dogs, or just wandering about chatting. It felt like eating at the airport - public, loud, bright.Aisle has lost its intimacy and romance, its atmosphere, its cosy, special feeling and I am devastated.

Everything about our evening at Aizle was exceptionally good; I couldn't find fault with anything. The atmosphere was a combination of refined and informal. The service was excellent. We never had to wait long between courses, and we never felt that we were being rushed. The food was absolutely superb: plate after plate of sumptuous food and a wide variety of flavours. I'm sure that we have all been to restaurants where we have eaten very nice food and thought that we would be able to replicate those meals at home with a little trial and error. I certainly wouldn't say that about our food at Aizle. Even after a lot of experimentation and practice, very few people would be able to recreate what we ate.I haven't mentioned drinks. We decided to go for the drink pairings, and we were very pleased that we did. Not all of the drinks were wines; the first was a delicious non-alcoholic burst of flavour, and the second was a very nice gin-based cocktail. The wines that came along later were very nice and complemented the food really well. This was the most expensive dinner that we have had, but the whole experience was so good that we felt that it was very good value. We will make a point of visiting Aizle again, whenever we are next in Edinburgh, and I will remember to book well in advance.

Booked this restaurant following various recommendations. It’s a tasting menu (with an optional wine pairing). All of the food was outstanding and they will accommodate any dietary requirements. One of us had a dairy intolerance and the chef and staff were able to change the ingredients to make sure it was still similar to the original where possible. This is an outstanding restaurant serving great food and the ambience and decor inside is also great.

We visited Aizle in August 2020 as part of a trip to Edinburgh for a birthday treat. We pre booked for a 6 course evening meal which was at such an amazing standard. The lovely lady that was serving us was brilliant and hospitality was at an excellent standard. It wasn’t over crowded and could enjoy our food at our own leisure. Each time out glasses were empty, the waitress would come and refill a glass of wine. Although I suffer with a peanut allergy, there was an alternative as part of the 6 course meal which was delicious. I would definitely visit again!

This was our first visit to Aizle since it moved to new premises in the Kimpton (or the Roxburgh as it will always be to me!). The dining experience was not quite the same as previous visits as we were given a menu, rather than a list of ingredients, but that did not detract from the experience! The food was excellent. Each course was quite unique and perfectly presented. The highlight of the meal for me was the lamb with stuffed Roscoff onion (but it was only slightly ahead of the halibut which was simply divine!).The service throughout the meal was perfect - we could not have asked for better - the team who looked after our table were lovely and could not have done more to make us feel welcome, comfortable and safe. I would commend the restaurant on it's cleanliness - plenty of sanitiser available, and clients were requested to wear a mask when moving around the restaurant. This was a special family occasion so this was very much appreciated. Thank you all.

It’s just all glorious!!! The staff are gems and the food is exceptional. Loved the three “snacks” (especially the trout in buttermilk). As per other reviews I agree the potato foam in a cup with the halibut was a standout.... Wasn’t smitten with the lamb .... but the desserts were fabulous. Paired wines perfect. An all round lovely experience. I am sad that they have had to move premises as for me the cosy interior has not been replicated and we did feel like we were in “Newtown” in a copper blossom esque venue... but if given the current pandemic this does allow for an airy spacious and safe environment. Secretly hoping I will one day eat in the old premises again though.

What an incredible meal. It’s refreshing to have exceptional food with comfortable decor and chilled atmosphere. There’s loads of space and very well organised for those concerned about COVID-19. Every one of the staff provided fantastic service. I’d expected a few issues since they’ve only recently moved to the hotel venue but they didn’t get a foot wrong. The two cocktails we had to start were great. I also really enjoyed the welcome komboocha (a gingery refreshing drink). It’s a set tasting menu but they can cater to your dietary requirements. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Each plate I scraped clean for every morsel because it was so delicious. The potato mash foam that accompanied the halibut was the highlight for me. I could just live off that. My wife’s a pescatarian so the lamb dish was replaced by scallops. Often the replacement is a disappointing vegetable but this was on a par with the lamb. We went for the optional cheese too which we didn’t regret. We shared it and it’s quite small so manageable. The chocolate desert was exceptional. Had very crunchy barely that reminded me of high end sugar puffs. The special coffee sourced from Newcastle and exquisite petit fours was the perfect finish. The Kitchin was my favourite high end Edinburgh restaurant but now I’m having to rethink things. Would definitely recommend.
