Ahmed's Bar B-Q in Oxford

Ahmed has been in the same spot for over 30 years and I can see why. Great food and great service has remained his stalwart over this time. An Oxford institution!

I asked for one thing, was given another. Charged more for something that I didn’t even receive in the end. I was assured it was one thing when it wasn’t. Feel ripped off

Prices have gone up and portions are tiny. Thought I would give them another chance but never going again especially with the rude staff.

Heard good things about it so thought I'd try it out one night. Portion size was woeful,about 4 strips of doner meat in a kebab which I admit did taste good but was still hungry afterwards

I’ve gone to Ahmed’s multiple times and he always tends to charge us extra anyway the last time I went to him and I caught him out on it again , very dishonest , not sure what’s happened , but service is absolutely poor, very arrogant man and also a THEIF…Furthermore, the food has gone downhill massively , bland and tasteless , I would AVOID at all cost

Ahmed's spicy sauce came recommended from a friend who went to grad school here. I tried it on multiple different plates. All were great. Ahmed is the man.

I should have went to another kebab shops in Oxford. The food was quite tasteless. I ordered the burger and chips.

Had the burger here. Got terrible food poisoning that made me lose 4 kg overnight and almost put me in the hospital. Was definitely caused by the burger

Ahmed is a legend & was super friendly and the food was amazing, don’t see why there so many negative reviews towards this place as I couldn’t fault it, food & service was perfect and definitely great value for money as the chicken wrap was more of a chicken burrito🤤 do yourself a favour and ignore the bad reviews and give these guys a try!!!

I do feel for disabled people who visit cities and towns, where those cities and town have fast food vehicles parking where ever. This particular van, had parked close enought that even the most cunning of shrews, would be thwarted. This is not about food to which I'd assume is like any other kebab van.

Rude employees. Food was decent enough for a kebab van but the employees were exceptionally rude, very disappointed.

Employee tried to rob me of an extra £1.50 for the INCLUDED salad on a kebab. He was sarcastic and rude.

We arrived in Oxford, starving with jet lag, but was too late to get anything at a restaurant or pub. There, at midnight, just a few yards from our hotel, was Ahmed's brightly lit food truck on the High Street, with a long line of students who also had the late night munchies! One knows that a long line is a sign of high demand for the food, and Ahmed does not disappoint! We had a falafel pita sandwich and a tomato-mozzarella panini. Ate every bite of both with hunger and delight at the freshness, flavor and quality. Jet lag is returning today, so we may sleep for six hours this afternoon/evening and crawl out of bed at midnight. If we do, it will be another visit to Ahmed in the wee hours. (That's actually the plan. Smile.)

I'm gonna be honest, I don't normally write reviews. But Ahmed's incredibly low score is a tragedy, and is in no way an honest reflection of the quality of food and staff. On a quiet evening, there are maybe 2 or 3 people queueing, on a busy night it can hit 30. Sure, it doesn't have the rep or the location of Hassans, but the food is on another plane. I must've tried everything on the menu, and still haven't found a single dish I dislike. The doner tastes like real meat for gods sake, what more could you ask for?!? The hummus and coleslaw are fresh, the meat is beautifully prepared teppanyaki style before your eyes, and the chips are, well, I have no words. Gonna throw some shade here, but it seems strange that the only negative review is from a bloke called Hasan. Hmm. Either way, if you live in Oxford, and you haven't had an Ahmeds (sober or drunk) YOU HAVE NOT LIVED. Personally, I've converted 4 friends in the last week along, and more are coming round to the #AHMEDS>HASSANS #AHMEDS4LYF

The worst ever kebab i have ever tried. A mate suggested that it was on of the great kebab he had. Unfortunately, the worst meat mix kebab none of us could finish despite being super hungary. All binned at the end , shame{{{{

La camioneta es de Ahmed es como un recurso valioso para mí como mi biblioteca del colegio y considerablemente menos de £835 por año. Se abre no mucho después del final del hall informal, atlético y resoluto permanente en la High Street como un rayo de esperanza en la oscuridad de las crisis de ensayo y pasos con destino borrachos. La calidad de gloriosa arteria de abundante comida es incomprensible para la mente humana. Sin duda, recomiendo este restaurante a la gente en los presupuestos del estudiante y vegetarianos recuperando de cerca y lejos.

Basically this was the best culinary experience of my life, Ahmed is an epic lad would definitely recommend you forget every other kebab van or fine dining institution in the country including hassans, and come to where its at,

Best kebab van in Oxford, by far, step aside Hassan. Great food, great prices and great service. 10/10
