First impression, disappointed by the way I was greeted at the door. The man was sulky and appeared annoyed with my entry through the door, not a tit bit of welcoming. Just because I was desperately hungry after an event I decided to stay for food. Clearly inattentive as he missed my drink order throughout the sitting, I did not bother to remind, or was asked if I needed one. Prawn Tikka Briyani was absolutely stunning. Good amount of spice, riced cooked perfectly. To my surprise, the amount of prawns in the dish was much more than I would expect. Paired with vegetable curry which was a good accompaniment . Cucumber raita was just cut up cucumber in yoghurt, nothing fancy. Overall very satisfied with the quality of food. Restaurant was clean but front service can be improved.

Happy Memories: I last visited this restaurant in the early 60’s, I think 1962/63. It was a regular lunchtime haunt for us “articled clerks” because of the tremendous value for money, a 4 Shilling (20p) 3 course meal. A choice of meat Kima or Kofta, a paratha or boiled rice, dessert Gulabjammon or rosangula plus a cup of tea! In those days, before parking restrictions, Warren St. Station to The Agra Club, was full of second hand car dealers with their cars! Later it became a Club for a while. John Stewart.

I am not, or at least before I went, was not a fan of Indian Food. Well that's because I really hadn't had authentic Indian food. This place is that! The owner, who has been there for over 35 years, comes out and talks to us and finds out what we like, etc. Then helped direct us to dishes he thought we would enjoy. 1000% nailed it! My wife had the Chicken Marsala medium spiced and I had the Lamb Saag (I think) with spinach, mildly spiced. They were both amazing! The naan was also outstanding! We enjoyed it so much we came back another time before leaving from vacation. It is a quiet family run business just a block off off Tottenham Court Rd, 2 mins from Warren Street station. Worth the trip!

Here's an improved version of your restaurant review: --- I visited Agra based on the positive reviews but left somewhat disappointed. I ordered the Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken), Cucumber Raita, and Garlic Naan. As someone with considerable experience in Indian cuisine, I found that none of the dishes I tried tasted authentically Indian. The Butter Chicken resembled more of a lentil soup with chicken rather than the rich, creamy dish it's supposed to be. The Cucumber Raita lacked sufficient seasoning, coming across as a poor imitation of Turkish or Greek cacik/tzatziki. As for the Garlic Naan, the garlic was so scarce that it felt like the bread had only been briefly introduced to the idea of garlic. While the food was decent overall, if I hadn’t known what I ordered, I wouldn’t have guessed it was meant to be Indian cuisine. Also, the portions are way too small.

First things first, the food is great. Perhaps a little spicy for those that cannot handle it, however they can probably do a medium or mild version of any dish. Fantastic location - right around Radisson Blu Grafton. Also, Mohammed Ali ate there and there is a picture him as well as many other famous people. Food ordered for 4 people. Full tandoori chicken Sheekh kabab Chicken tikka biryani Butter chicken 3 Naan The Naan was nice and puffy. It had a hint of sweetness and had an airy bread-like texture. The tandoori chicken was a brilliant red with fantastic char at the ends of the pieces. Very tender and flavourful. Remarkable spice blend, juicy and salted just right. The chicken tikka biryani was excellent. Great chicken, a bit of oil but not too much as to be oily, well spiced and salted. Beautiful colour as well Sheekh kabab, what more do I have to say. My personal favourite. Spicy, flavourful, firm but tender, juicy, about the length and width of a regular hotdog (much better though), goes great with naan and mango lassi. If I could rate it more highly I would. 10/10, I will eat there again.

I have to say, I have been to a lot of restaurants, and I have never had such a good experience than eating at Agra. I am a student living in Warren Street, and cone to this restaurant at least twice a month. Every time i come in, the owner Taj greets me in a very friendly way and we spark up nice conversations. I always get the lamb briyani (my favourite dish). Highly recommend for takeout, dine in with friends and family, etc. Thanks Taj!

A nice, no frills setting. Intimate, low-key restaurant with very good service and very nice waiters. The naan was fabulous. Cooked perfectly with a great flavour. The chicken in the two mains were incredibly tender pieces of white meat that were cooked perfectly. Could not be better. HOWEVER, the sauce (which was just okay) of the chicken saag was almost crunchy from undercooked spinach, and lacked seasoning. But the WORST thing was the butter chicken. In my opinion, it was truly INEDIBLE. It tasted like nothing but old butter. Almost rancid or something. No spices, no seasoning, no nothing. I really wish it was better because they were so nice, but it was really a giant disappointment. I would never return. Now, in fairness, we only had those two mains. Maybe other dishes are better, but I would be worried.

Nestled in a tranquil laneway in Fitzrovia, this unassuming family-run restaurant has been quietly and consistently cooking up some of the most incredible mouth-watering North Indian dishes. Having returned to this place on an almost weekly basis since discovering it in early November 2023 - and brought many friends (including incredibly picky eaters) to try it out - their food will have you licking your plate(s) clean and raving endlessly. Very good prices particularly given the impressive quality and excellent quantity of food in addition to the amount of items on offer on the menu, so is a fantastic option for all. I have been repeatedly ordering a number of their chicken dishes (particularly the Chicken Dopiazza with Pilau Rice) already and the chicken is always very tender and perfectly seasoned. If you possess naturally low spice tolerance levels, Agra does offer plenty of succulent mild options too including (and certainly not limited to) their Chicken Korma and Butter Chicken dishes. Their desserts (particularly the mango kulfi) are delightfully delectable too, particularly if you are wanting to cool your burning mouth down after a spicy main. Very friendly owner who greets every guest with a welcoming smile and polite wait-staff who all provide highly efficient service. Will undoubtedly continue going there for as long as I can and (slowly) get through their entire menu. There is a reason (or many reasons, perhaps) why this restaurant has been around for so long.

Went here while having a day trip in London it is average at best. Popadoms fine as was the mango chutney. Onion chutney, was just chopped onion, no sauce or spice added to it which was weird. Chicken Tandori starter was tasty, that was really good! The let down was the spinach saag. The chicken was very greasy and once seperated from the sauce it was just plain chicken, no spice ir herbs rubbed in just plain. The sauce was spice which I like but, apart from the spice just bland and oily. The restraunt is just one big outdated room. I'd say to small for purpose and needs modernising. No hot towels were offered at end of service, or choclates or orange slices or minta or a shot, just the bill. Average at best.

I ordered takeaway. The first point is they didn't add the 15% takeaway discount until I questioned it. The food it's self was a poor standard. I ordered chicken Naga. They quite clearly didn't use Naga chilli's. They have such a distinctive taste but it wasn't there. It was just overly spicy for the sake of it with no flavour. My wife had spicy lamb korma. There wasn't much meat and the flavour was poor. The egg rice was ok and good portion size. I definitely would not return. Very disappointed

First time to this restaurant and went here because of some glowing reviews. First impressions, the place was dated and it had a traditional vibe, and it needed a bit of work…it looked like a large room with tables rather than a restaurant. I noticed some photos hanging on the restaurant wall and it has some past history serving food to famous faces to the likes Mohammad Ali back in the 50’s….which was plus for any restaurant with a good history. When it came to the food, it was satisfactory; I ordered lamb dhansak with pilau rice and nan bread. The lamb dhansak was ok, but towards the spicy side, which made it difficult for me to finish the whole dish, there wasn’t much meat which was a shame (only had 3-4 lamb cubes) The rice was fine but towards the dry end. The nan bread was a slight disappointment as it was soggy with no butter….I was hoping for it to be a little crispy to add to the taste. The owner was a great host and it was great to chat with him. It was clear that the business isn’t doing as well as it used to and now regular customers tend to visit the restaurant, but even then less and less of those are coming. It’s a real shame as the restaurant has real potential, they just need to spruce up the place to bring it to modern times, but I understand that there is a cost involved with this; if the business does not make much money, then it will be difficult to invest in the business. All in all, I’ll give it 3 stars ‘satisfactory’, if they improve the recipe a little and spruce up the restaurant to show the history of the restaurant, then it would be a great restaurant to go to on a regular basis.

I've been eating at Agra for a long time - not so frequently recently - but getting on for 25 years overall. The shape and size of the place has altered over time, the decor's changed a bit, but it's the same family running an honest, old school Indian restaurant. And, for me, old school is a really good thing. I don't stray too much from my regular dishes, and I didn't this time. Seekh Kebab (as per the neon sign in the window). Followed that with Dhal and an egg Paratha (off-menu, the egg Paratha, but if you ask nicely...). Agra is a comforting and completely reliable place for great value curry, kebabs and everything else you expect on a traditional London 'curry house' menu. I haven't stopped recommending Agra for 20 years and I found no reason to stop recommending it in future. It's on of London's genuine best kept secrets.

A night to forget. Starters were decent but it ends there. We had four main courses, all were using seemingly cheap cuts of stringy meat and thigh meat, no breast to be found. Gristle in the chicken, a mix up mains, a strange taste to the sauces. All in all, we just left our meals barely touched. Even with the mix up on order, there was no offer of a refund for any part of the dishes, indeed we were gifted a service charge on the bill for our troubles! Never again.

The other staff working there ( a lady) lacks this sense of customer service. She is not interested in taking orders from customers and only waits for the old man ( the owner) to do it. She is also doesn't care if the customer is waiting for like 15 minutes for his food. Ideally she should have followed up with tge chef. But she doesn't!!!!. Furthermore the food is good and also value for money. The papads and chutneys are complimentary with the meal. Overall a good place.

For the type of food you are getting, this place is incredible value. I am so happy to have found my new neighborhood Indian spot - it makes London feel more like home :)

Underwhelming average for both food and service. Somewhat bland with chilli overall and wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.

Had a takeaway for the second time and enjoyed one of the best curries in ages. Tastes and quality were excellent. The Biryani had a very good side vegetable dish and the bindi was very good too. Staff polite and pleasant. I would certainly like...

Absolutely delicious. We had the chicken tikka masala, lamb curry and saag paneer. Wait staff was very attentive and kind. Highly recommended.

Literally the most delicious Indian food I have ever eaten in my entire life. We ordered it from Uber Eats and it was 10/10.
