Agra Cottage in Rushcliffe

Ordered Takeaway for 10 people for 6pm wasn’t ready until 6:20. The bill was 30% more than their internet menu prices which is completely out of date. The owner appeared indifferent. Most meals were tasty but Bhajis were soggy and burnt.

We ordered a takeout delivery of 2 mains with rice and naan bread. Arrived at the time we requested and the food was hot and delicious. Easily ordered online.

Ordered a takeaway early evening. Food took almost two and a half hours to arrive and was so not worth waiting for. Particularly poor was a chicken korma which appeared to be tikka masala with added water and a monkfish Bhuna which was bland and, if it did contain monkfish, this had been cooked for so long all taste and texture was lost. A pasanda was a strange green colour, this might have been pistachio nuts but looked deeply unappetising. Emails to the restaurant remain unanswered….

Very average. Booked in person 3 weeks ago and popped in the night before the booking to be told it wasn’t in the diary, so booked again. Service was good on the whole. Stairs and toilets were poor. Large Cobra beer £5.95 - ridiculous price. Starters okay, particularly the chilli paneer. Mains were all very similar, and overloaded with thick onion. King prawns were barely adult prawns. Could be quite a nice restaurant if they just spent some money on the menu, decor and food quality. Won’t be going back.

My first visit to Agra and I won’t be returning. I ordered a starter tray which on arrival bore no resemblance to the description in the menu. I didn’t enjoy the Pasanda but maybe it just didn’t suit my taste buds. But at £19 I felt it was all overpriced.

Agra Cottage has a very unreliable website and I had to phone the order. The delivery time was optimistic by half an hour, but I am getting used to it, as most of my delivered orders have been delayed. The food is very good and the six adults and four children all enjoyed it. We always over order and there was enough left for my son and son-in-law to take a pack-up for lunch. Dishes are well flavoured and the tender lamb is superb. The duck was tough though, but still tasty. Of the restaurants in the area that deliver, Agra Cottage is my preference.

our first experience, a mate treated us to a takeaway as we had some bad news and needed cheering up. Where to start, it was oven an hour late, cold, tasteless, the pompadoms were soggy, the chips chewy and cold. I had a rogan josh and it was two distinct colours, obviously two curries poorly mixed. A culinary disaster and not cheap. Our advice, go somewhere else, we will in future.

Excellent swift service with wonderful tasting food - a real delight! Highly recommend this venue for a decent takeaway.

How can any restaurant produce dreadful, tasteless chicken tikka. They can here! Having eaten here and had takeaways before, I can only presume the chef was away and the waiter produced our appalling takeaway, all 3 dishes were really appalling. Will never return.

We decided to try Agra Cottage for our first delivered curry from them. We were not disappointed, the curries were all very different and very very tasty. Best we have had in a long while and will definitely have our next one from them :)

Our local Indian restaurant being closed, this was the first time we have ordered a takeaway from Agra Cottage, having collected a menu from them in the past. The order was via JustEat - so easy on the Internet - and delivered by a friendly lady driver, albeit 30 minutes later than expected. This being an honest review - as we speak as we find. We were quite disappointed. Rice, dips, and the Chicken Chat were fine - the Tandoori Chicken Curry fair - but unfortunately the poppadoms were soft, the peshwari naan didn't seem right, and the Salmon Tikka Masala was overcooked and swamped in some very strange bright red sauce - so much so that my wife found she was unable to eat it and consequently it was thrown away. A great shame as it was her birthday. While we accept that the styles of dishes can vary between different restaurants - we are both quite au fait with Indian cooking - and found that the whole experience below standard. Obviously Chef's night off !

We ordered a special tray starter for 2, onion bhajis, 2 rice, two naan, mango lamb, lamb pasanda and chicken podina. It was perfect for the four of us all was perfectly hot and delicious! Excellent service couldn’t fault it for a nice takeaway!

Had a meal delivered and was delighted with food, very tasty. The man who delivered couldn’t find the house, (not his fault we’re not easy to find), so I met him at the end of the drive. He was apologetic and made a note of which our house was for next time. Our usual takeaway always includes rice without asking, these guys don’t. Not a criticism, just a heads up when you place an order with Just Eat.

Didn’t order food got very aggressive knock at door to be welcomed by a bloke asking where another address was in very rude manor. Manners cost nothing tell your delivery drivers

We brought some friends to eat at the Agra Cottage tonight, and although our previous experience of eating here was disappointing due to the terrible service, we thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt as the food has always been good. Sadly things had not improved. The food was good but the service remains terrible particularly from the front of house member of staff. He was curt and uninterested in us as we had a Groupon Voucher. After requesting a table by email, and not getting a reply, my husband called to check the booking. Their response was don’t send a request through our booking service on the website as we don’t look at it! so, he reconfirmed the booking which was accepted. The following evening however we were told there was no booking made for us and there was a lack of tables as they were very busy. However, eventually they offered us a table downstairs. Service was very slow in comparison to the number of takeaways that were going out the door. We noticed that our portions when they arrived looked smaller than others around us and we believe this was due to having a groupon voucher making us less worthy of a normal portion.Additionally when several of us used the toilets upstairs it was very dark and there were no customers up there. The toilets smelled of damp and there was mildew around the door frames and a hand dryer held up with sellotape. Also, the ceiling in the restaurant downstairs was very water damaged and we could see where the plaster had fallen from the ceiling after an obvious leak. Not want you want to see during a meal.So, overall food slow but good, service dreadful with the exception of one guy who seemed very pleasant but did not come on on to the floor until late into our meal and could not undo the grouchy service of his colleague. Surroundings were very poor and smelt damp. You can not rely on just the food reputation forever. Step up or step out.

It was a Tuesday night I came in with my misses, the food and service was excellent. There was one person in particular who made our visit uncomfortable. I think the man is the gaffer. He kept staring at my wife and made her feel uncomfortable. We gave a tip for the waiter but the waiter put it in the till due to the boss telling him to. For any customer in the near future give any tips, directly give it to the waiters hand and make sure they keep it. As I worked as a waiter before i understand the circumstances of how the tips work. It’s not fair on these waiter as they are very welcoming, caring and funny. I’ve come here before and was treated with respect.

Dirty unhygienic I am amazed this is allowed to operate as a restaurant, we left having visited the toilet

Both myself and husband have been going here for well over a year! Food is fab staff friendly but I’ve been concerned they’ve been adding onto the bill each time. An extra £14.95 for a shandy and two chapatis made me question the bill. Well I’ve just been tonight and told my husband to see what happens and guess what!!! overcharged again so I questioned it! We told friends about this place as the food is so good. We won’t be going anymore as we can’t trust the final bill. Shame

We went to Agra Cottage on a Groupon and sat in the downstairs restaurant which was like sitting in a takeaway frontage. The 4 tables were crammed in with people queuing to pick up their takeaways right next to your table, at the other end there was a side door used by the takeaway delivery drivers which was constantly open so it was cold.A very grumpy man took our orders and we waited a fair while for our food.The starter portions were very small.The mains came and the portion size ok but lacked any quantity of meat.A table next to us wasn’t on a groupon and their portion sizes were clearly very different! The starters were possibly double in size and you could see the meat in the main courses.Furthermore I used the toilet upstairs and there was lots of black mould around the skirting board and toilet door. The restaurant ceiling looked like it had significant water damage too.Would I go again, sadly not.

Standard curries seem to be unbearibly hot. Ordered a king prawn dhansak tonight which I couldnt finish. Dhansak is not usually that hot and it only had one chilli rating. My favourite is normally a patia but find those can be a challenge too. Going to have to find another takeaway I'm afraid as I'm clearly not up to the challenge.

So disappointing, have used this takeaway via Just Eat a few times. Pre ordered this evening for 6.45 (ordered at 4pm) was told delivery would be 7.10 it’s 7.30 rang the restaurant to be told ‘it might be on its way’ Well thankyou. I ‘might’ be using somewhere else next time.

Base on groupon voucher we visit Agra Cottage, over 10yrs no visit Bingham town ,some new building around . Free 2hrs parking nearby this restaurant, Sunday maybe not a busy dining nite ,one men show on counter care serving “ phone answering “ take away collection .... ,decorations look simple and foods served also simple ,but taste very nice , lovely services, base on the voucher we with limited choice ,but just add few penny for every extra . Really tasty Indian / Pakistan cooking .

Visited this restaurant on a Friday evening. The restaurant is very small but well presented with linen table cloths and napkins.

Tonight, myself and three others ordered an Agra takeaway. If we fancy a curry we always go to Agra as the food is always brilliant, and the portion sizes are great. We totalled up the money due for our order, called up and ordered it for delivery. I asked the gentlemen on the phone the amount of money that was due and the figure was nearly 10 pounds more than what I had worked out. When I asked him about this, he politely recited each dish and it’s prices. The prices he announced were higher than the prices on the paper menu we had and also the prices advertised online. When I said this to him he said he would put a new menu into the takeaway bag for us which I thanked him for. When it got delivered we noticed there was no new menu in the bag and the portion sizes were quite a lot smaller than usual, smaller naans, chips, tandoori mixed grill etc. Although the food was still fantastic it all seemed a little bit over priced for what it was and the menus need to be updated if they are planning on permanently upping the prices.

I’ve been looking forward to going to Agra for a while now and I wish I would never of bothered, the waiter who served us was ignorant and rude very very unprofessional I don’t know if he was just a waiter or manager but he wore a black shirt with a red tie with is attitude no wonder Agra are having to do cheap deals on groupon, the food it’s self was ok but nothing special just average Indian food, the restaurant is small and cramped, overall Agra is just ok I wouldn’t recommend it I’d say it should consider being just a takeaway and to help your business get rid of that rude waiter because he’s dragging your business down

Our evening out was 'OK', but this place should not try to be anything more than a takeaway... It is simply too small for dining in - no atmosphere, place looks shabby and 'unfinished', endless human traffic from people collecting takeways and noise from people taking orders. The worst thing was that we had asked for soft drinks. Both of these were SO flat, like they had come out of a bottle that had had the lid left off. Not even chilled either! I politely mentioned this to the waiter and he protested that they had 'come from a can' and proceeded to bring through an unopened can, as if this proved that our drinks has also come from a can??!! He didn't apologise or offer us a fresh drink. Very uncomfortable experience and most disappointing! Best avoided I'm afraid...

Had many takeaways over the last couple of years and always really enjoyed.

Thoroughly enjoyed a delicious meal this evening. The voucher made this a very economical meal, ideal as a tryout for a new venue, and we will definitely return. A tiny restaurant, very tastefully set out with crisp tablecloths and napkins. Friendly service and tasty food. Excellent.

At the time of the visit we thought the setting was lovely and cosy and the food quite good. Service was friendly and polite and genuine.

There is plenty of competition for Agra Cottage locally and it holds up well. We went as a group of 4 book group widowers on a Groupon 2 course deal which was excellent value for money. Kingfisher on tap. Well worth trying

I have eaten here before and enjoyed it. Not sure what happened this time! The staff were not very friendly to us or the other customers and seemed if anything slightly annoyed with everyone!! There was no interaction with us - in the past I have found them to be very friendly so not sure what the problem was.

A warm welcome awaited us by very pleasant courteous staff. The place was very clean and the food didn't disappoint either. We would certainly go there again and recommend it to anyone. The two guys who were serving the tables were very interesting to talk to. Keep up the good work guys!

Having eaten in the restaurant before and really enjoyed the food, we thought we’d try the takeaway delivery service. The food took over two and a half hours to arrive, apparently due to a problem with one of the cars. I had to phone twice to chase the order, no contact from them. The food was absolutely delicious and hot when it did eventually arrive but I wouldn’t bother with delivery again.

What a find. A small, 16 cover little gem. Amazing food and great service. The dishes were delicious and very authentic and came with complimentary pakoras which were superb. A really lovely place.

We love Indian cuisine and Agra did not disappoint. It's a small restaurant and not very intimate as there is a constant flow for take always but we didn't mind as the food and service was great. Prices are reasonable. Definitely be going again.

We had a family meal at the Agra Cottage on New Years Day. Despite our very confusing ordering the service was very good. The quality of the food is top class and we all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Thank you for dealing with our queries efficiently and for the lovely meal

Excellent food. The room is a bit small and although there was much activity with take away orders and doors kept opening they had heaters to keep customers warm. The staff were very friendly and we liked the complimentary drink touch at the end of the meal.

6:15 of an evening for a takeaway and it’s an hour wait !!! This follows a previous attempt a month ago to use this business when they had no lamb dishes. Sorry, but I won’t be trying to use you for a third time.

Over an hour late, didn’t answer the phone after trying sporadically for 40mins, no apology.... Pickle tray & duck tikka missing.... Food was in the main cold, chicken tikka over cooked Only redeeming feature was the Madras sauce. Very very poor, will not use again.

Been many times and always thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Love the fact that the alcohol is the same price as the pub (often restaurants are far over priced). Our waiter "saif" (who has served us many times) is always very friendly and helpful if we are unsure on what to order.

Went with my daughter for a mid-week treat using a groupon voucher - very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. Saif was very courteous and efficient.

Everything about the meal was impressive from the presentation to the taste, we’ve eaten at a fair few Indian restaurants in Nottingham and I think this is my new favourite, it was absolutely delicious! We ordered a few drinks and extras and they were really reasonably priced too. I would highly recommend Agra Cottage.

First time visit! My son recommended we try it, although we live 8 miles away.. Downstairs is a tiny place; 4 tables only. We dined in! The attention to detail was great. We had a lovely welcome from Saif. The King Prawn Saag was the best we have had for years!! One of our favourites. There are more tables upstairs. Attention to detail is spot on! We had a lovely experience and we shall definitely go again!

Visited Agra Cottage with a voucher, Small restaurant which offers a wide choice of popular India dishes. Front of house, Saif is very friendly. I enjoyed the onion bajii followed by the Lamb Madras. Would visit again.

Recently taken over by the Chef, and Saif delivered another fine choice from the menu, I've now lost count of the number of good meals from this eatery.

Ate by myself here while away for work. Very tasty Indian. The food was quick and the service very attentive. Very tasty and very enjoyable!

I like doing the rounds, and this restaurant gave me a takeaway I simply can't grumble about. It fitted in with the less spicey flavours generally found out in the sticks. Bring run by people that get it, rather than the town based outlets that are generally hotter. Here, the fully blend of flavours were present in my usual benchmarking dish of lamb rogan josh. With a good amount of decent meat. The breads were right and rice as it should be. With the usual free popadoms and also some free dips. Very good for such a small order. If I lived in Bingham, I would be a regular.

Great meal, food was beautifully presented. Arrived hot and was very tasty. Didn't have to wait too long for the two courses. The waiter, Saif, was very polite and friendly. We will be back very soon.

Waited a long time for service and drinks order to be taken and served, not a friendly waiter, menu showed drinks that were no longer available: had a dramatic night in the bathroom in the early hours after getting home from eating there.

Love the food from Agra. Usually have a takeaway of a few veggie sides. Always good service and speedy delivery and great quality, fresh, tasty food. Keep up the good work Agra!!

Booked a last minute table through Groupon and had a fabulous curry and service was great. Small intimate restaurant areas, quick service but not rushed and very tasty and good quality food. Great find and would recommend as it’s easy to park 10 minutes or so from the city and a lovely little place to enjoy a great curry.

Lovely little restaurant tucked away in the heart of Bingham. Delicious food - the chef's recommendations don't disappoint. Definitely recommend - this is our go-to 'fancy Indian' restaurant. Only slightly more expensive than the cheaper restaurants, but the quality makes it worth the extra.

Looking forward to a take away from here for a few weeks. Got there this evening having considered a treat of eating in. Found only four tables close together so decided a take away was the way to go. Whilst waiting overheard a couple saying they had waited ages at a table to have their order taken. We let them go first and whilst the waiter took their drink order he wouldn’t take their food order. Some time later he asked for our order and asked if we could wait 45 minutes as they were rather busy. Given what we’d seen so far we gave it a miss and said we’d come back another time. I don’t think we will!!

We ordered food for collection at 19.21pm on Saturday night, they told us that our order would take 45 minutes, we arrived to collect our food and sat down to wait once we paid, we waited and waited, even the customers sitting in the restaurant was complaining about their food taking over an hour to arrive! For a restaurant on a busy Saturday night I find this shocking.

This was the first visit to this restaurant for a while. It’s always been good but I’m not a fan of spicy food so we don’t eat it often. It is very small with only a few tables, but it is attractively decorated and very warm and cosy. We had a wonderful meal. The king prawns were juicy and the fish soft and succulent. My dish was not overly spiced which is the way I like it, whereas my partner’s was hot and rich - just the way he prefers. An added bonus is that it looks gorgeous as it isn’t presented in a traditional way and has more of a modern twist. We discovered that the restaurant is under new management so I wish them every success. They deserve it.

Sadly Abdul has left Agra, but the lovely Shiab is still there. The food is still good I am pleased to say.

I ate on a Monday evening and I couldn’t personally fault anything, the decor is very pleasing and the waiting service excellent, a linen napkin given to you by the waiter is not the norm in small country town restaurants, a little thing but it makes a difference. The food came bang on time as I finished each course.

Ordered a takeaway was told an hour. It took near 2hours. The driver couldn't find our address, he read it back. In the end cancelled the order. Worse service ever. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Rubbish service. Don't know how they keep running.

Having seen the mixed reviews on here, we were not sure what to expect, but it was close to The Bingham Town House Hotel, where we were staying, so we thought we would give it a try.

Ate in here - super though a little chilly due to ‘takeaway traffic’. Lovely fresh food especially the spicy bahjis. Decided to have them again for takeaway - flat, burnt and hard. Loathe to go back now.

First time eating from here and probably our last unfortunately. Lamb and chicken Bhuna were both a few pieces of not very tender meat swimming in a sweet brown onion soup topped with a layer of oil, not the dry and richly spiced dish it's supposed to be. Small, smartly decorated restaurant although no separate waiting area for takeaway collection and very friendly staff. Maybe the real chef was on holiday - hope so.

After a week of being spoiled in Southall, I was now working in Bingham. I was having a little walk around and passed the Agra Cottage. It was getting late so thought I would give it a go. The place is tiny with only 4 tables, but it is wonderful. They were laid to perfection and although small there was plenty of space between to maintain a level of privacy. The decor was bright so gave a feeling of space. Probably one of the cosiest restaurants I have been to.

Recently visited Agra Cottage on a Groupon offer. The food was really nice. The layout is a bit awkward but isn't a huge problem. They ran out of large Tiger beers though which was the main issue.

I haven't dined in at the restaurant, but had their food as takeaway a few times. Their chicken korma and pileu rice is really nice. I've also had their pickle trays and poppadoms and the whole meal was really nice. I'd deffinately be ordering from them again.

As ever the quality of the take away and steadiness of delivery are excellent Best place around for a small bistro or take away

Last minute decision to eat out but this was a great choice of meal and venue. Restaurant probably best described as small and intimate - seating available downstairs, with two rooms upstairs. Tastefully decorated, friendly and attentive staff, without being intrusive. Food delicious, presentation beautiful! Will definitely be returning.

Made a spontaneous Sunday evening visit and didn't expect too much based on some reviews here. However we were very pleasantly surprised to enjoy a lovely meal at the Agra cottage.

Called in without prior reservation. Restaurant very small but staff very attentive and the food was very nice. I certainly will be going back.

We visited for the first time on a groupon voucher and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food and service were. Not all Groupon experiences are good! Food was all very good, naan's were particularly good too. Would certainly recommend and we will be returning. Booking recommended as it was busy with people being turned away. Speaks for itself.

We went to Agra Cottage on a Groupon deal. We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was pretty full which is always a good sign. The service was slow. It took about 40 minutes for someone to come come and take our order.

My wife and two friends had a groupon meal here. We were sat downstairs, and it was a cold evening so due to the size of the premises whenever the door was opened it got very cold. Also people waiting for their takeaways were standing right over us.

My wife and I visited this restaurant using a Groupon voucher. We were greeted very cordially and seated in a nice upstairs dining area. Our starters were excellent and were very elegantly presented. The pickles and pappadums were average. Unfortunately when the mains arrived my wife's King Prawn Balti was most disappointing as there were vey few prawns cut up into small pieces - King Prawn usually means whole prawns. My Chicken Madras was a lot better than my wife's curry and the accompanying nans were very good. The service was excellent.

We visited​ on a Friday evening, quite early using a Groupon voucher. The restaurant looked inviting and we were warmly welcomed, then shown to an upstairs dining area. The waiters couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Using the Groupon voucher wasn't an issue and we were shown an extensive menu. The poppadoms were fine but the pickles were very low quality and nothing more than a runny watery attempt at filling three containers. What might have been attempting to be mango chutney was just orange liquid. The starters were poor and my tandoori chicken was amongst the worst I've ever had ..... and believe me I've had hundreds.

The food was so very tasty and plenty of it. There are imaginative dishes on the menu and it was well presented. Yes, it is a small and quirky place but enjoy the food and the good service.

The food was of a high quality but the actual place was really dirty! The skirting boards, walls, toilet walls and skirting boards in the toilet are disgusting. There was a towel to dry your hands in the bathroom but grim! Our 8 year old even said it was dirty! I did try to have a quiet word with one of the waiters but he wasn't interested hence why I am writing on here. You really need to listen to your customers!

Will come clean up front & declare that we were dining on a groupon deal - but how poor is this place. To be fair the main course was ok but beyond that - very disappointing:

Lovely small place, lovely greetings from the staff on entry. We were taken upstairs to a lovely room that seats about 12 people, so pleasantly not overcrowded. Speed of service was just right. Food was fabulous. I had garlic mushrooms to start with, and chicken jalfrazi for my main. Great choices of wine, and not too bad prices. Definitely going again.

The waiter and the toilets etc need a good clean, very disappointed we found the whole experience one we certainly will not be repeating. Get a cleaner and clean shirts at least

The restaurant is actually a Cottage nicely fitted out as a Indian restaurant. A varied menu serving up excellent food via very good service. The time between courses was just ride allowing time for chat and settling ready for the next course.
