Poor service and shabby dining room. Windows and carpet were grubby. Several people shown to their table but someone just pointing at the table across the dining room and food just dumped on table without an explanation on types of sandwiches and cakes. Champagne and...

A Bollywood themed evening where the team are in fabulous Indian dress, the accompanying music creates a great atmosphere, a wonderful array of starters giving me the chance to sample dishes I may otherwise have never tried. 4 dishes for the main course, Dahl, vegetarian, chicken and lamb, all exceptional, the meats dishes were superb with tender meat that had absorbed all the flavours. Attentive service throughout. I dine alone and always feel comfortable. I can't recommend highly enough! and the themed nights are well worth a visit offering great value for money twinned with a culinary experience.

Arrived with my two daughters, two son-in-laws and grandchild. We were shown to our table and given menus, no offer of a drink. We eventually requested drinks and our orders were taken. The manager came back to advise that they had run out of lamb shanks, so two of us changed our main choice. I was then approached again and told that there was no calves liver, so I changed again. The starters arrived almost half an hour later, three of us had camembert and two had spring rolls. The camembert was sent straight back as it was not heated through and the middle was cold and hard, the spring rolls looked like something from an Iceland and I was told, tasted of nothing! We waited for someone to approach us to check our drinks but no one did. We asked on three occasions for drinks, very poor. When our mains arrived, I was stunned. The lamb shanks were a strange colour and tasted tangy. The duck was tough and tasteless. The sides of broccoli were literally floating in water, which I pointed out to the manager. He said it's where they strain the boiling water! The glasses and some of the cutlery was dirty, all but one member of staff were clueless. They didn't know who had ordered what, hovered around with plates in their hands not knowing which table they were for and brought drinks to the table in their hands not on a tray all together. The manager didn't seem to know how to manage. We skipped dessert as we couldn't wait to leave. Although the bill was reduced by 50% and drinks were not charged for, I was not only disappointed but disgusted. The charge for a lamb shank was £17.95 and these prices cannot be justified. All five of us were appalled at every aspect of this visit. The only decent thing was the portion of fish cakes which my granddaughter had. Do not go to this restaurant, it is absolutely awful in every way.

My wife and I went here with a Buyagift voucher for a deluxe afternoon tea and were left very disappointed. We arrived, were shown to a table and offered tea or coffee, no mention of the choice of teas or coffees we were expecting. They arrived almost immediately with a plate of dried up sandwiches. They are obviously made up some time before you arrive in readiness.

The tea itself was OK, although not as good as some we've had. Seemed like all the items (excluding sandwiches, I guess) were bought in, not home-made. The Atrium is OK, but as we were there more or less on our own (our fault presumably for wanting an afternoon tea in the afternoon!) and it might be a jollier place when it's busier. My biggest gripe was the Ladies Loo, which I visited on the way out, and it was - horrid. Stuff on the floors, clearly not clean and I dread to think what it was in one of the loos. I complained, and was told in a fairly offhand way that housekeeping would be called. We wouldn't visit this hotel, either to stay or to eat again, sorry!

We had our wedding reception at this hotel 23 years ago today and decided to go back for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We could not believe how down hill it has gone. It was awful - the worst restaurant experience I have had for a very long time. At 6.30pm on a Sunday the restaurant was empty apart from one other family. When the waitress took our order she did not even ask how our sons how they wanted the steaks they ordered. When it came, I tasted the fries and they tasted like oven chips. The peppercorn sauce was like the worst gravy they had ever tasted. I decided to go for something more healthy and try the salmon on a bed of stir fried vegetable noodles. I would call it a piece a salmon on a few tasteless noodles. We decided not to even try the deserts. When the manager asked us how things had been, we had to be honest with him, He asked us to come back but I don't think I could. I begrudge paying £82 for it. The best he could offered was a significant discount or a refund.

We decided to go to afternoon tea at the Kingston Lodge Hotel after purchasing a voucher for two people. Even upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table swiftly. The food was amazing and the service was great. The only thing that it needed was more people as t felt very quiet. Apart from that, we had a really lovely afternoon tea at the Atrium Brasserie. I would highly recommend it.

I went with a friend I don't know about you readers but I hate the chefy thing serving food on a slate, to me slates are for the roof or to make snooker tables , I prefer plates in the kitchen not slates. My friend and I both agreed with this . we had ordered afternoon tea , the coffee was only warm , then along came the dainty sandwiches on a slate , almost put me off trying my friend didn't bother, the bread was a little dry too after a couple of minutes .there were only two other diners at the other end of a roomy dining room so the sandwiches could have been made as we sat down it seemed the way the bread went dry very quickly they seemed to have been made a little in advanced . The cakes were ok but i only tried a bite out of my share as I said the slates put me off a little .

Waited over 20 minutes to be offered drinks and then we had to ask. Only offered 2 menus to share between 15! Really slow service and, as lamb dish I received was luke warm in some places and hotter in others, I assume it had been microwaved rather than cooked fresh! Absolutely no atmosphere in restaurant. Steak impossible to cut as no steak knives available.

poor quality food with very very slow service. If this is the best that a 4 start hotel can offer in the UK its time to close the country down and go elsewhere. Bland, tough meat, unseasoned meals and very overpriced for what you get. that was just the dinner the breakfast was even worse and makes what we serve at the depatment store look like 5 star food. it was so bad that if my staff tried to serve it to a customer they would get a verbal warning. The staff dont seem to care about what they are serving or how long it takes to get it out of the kitchen. And if this is the best that their Chef can do its time to get a new Chef in a change things big time

I gave this place a chance after working in the area for years. The food I got was bland, cold and was thrown into the bin. I went in and asked the server to recommend a dish. The guy was uninterested and took a long time to handle my order and let alone my food. When he'd finally prepared it, I asked him for it to be spicy and he gave me the mildest chilli sauce and on top of that my food was actually COLD. I went back to the restaurant speak to the manager and came here to leave a negative review. I was not at all surprised to see all of these other negative reviews. I explained to him about the my bad experience and he started to deny it. I then showed him and other customers the poor reviews and he got upset and began to harras me so I left. He then followed me and even tried to get pushy to intimidate me! He finally left me alone and went back in. I don't even want a refund. He will be out of business soon enough.

Arrived for afternoons tea 2pm ,very surprised only cups ,No Saucers ,had to carry our own tea to table and wait for food .Food was delicious and presented nicely but it arrived 10 mins later .We had practically finished the tea .Why can the staff not bring tea over with the food ?I know it’s a cafe but have some etiquette,I think everyone associates afternoon tea is a cup and saucer must that’s part of the experience
