Odd old place this! Not sure if I was just happy to eat as didn’t want to pay £2000 for a bag of noddles and £150 spring roll in the park or it was generally ok. I’ll be honest the place is a dirty dump! Chaotic!! And felt like eating a meal in a kids soft play arena!!! You enter and it’s a free for all, help myself, find a filthy table establishment. There’s no cutlery and you have to leave the restaurant to get a drink. And as with the rest of the resort, there’s no staff! One thing I can guarantee it don’t look. I thing like the photos. However. After a long day in the challenging park, I actually didn’t think the food was the bad at all!!!! It is simple, but I for one enjoyed the hog roast carvery!!! The potatoes were bang on and there was plenty of cracking with the pork! I also had some curry and chips which was nice, and the brownie I had for dessert was decent as well. Kids were well fed and enough options for them. Now! Nothing I enjoy more than nice meal eat / posh restaurant / expensive steak. But I can be be adaptable!! I didn’t go here with high expectations and was pleasantly surprised as expected worse! However if you go here expecting the red carpet experience, the finest red wine and cuts of the finest meat or sizzalating curries and stir-fry’s this isn’t the place for you. I’d also stay clear if your a fussy eater or Vegan because quite simply you want like it!! I wouldn’t choose this place out of choice! However it served a purpose and was better value than the park food which quite frankly Chessington should be loooked up for!!! Bit

Breakfast was ok plenty of choice had to ask for vegan sausages . Paid for evening buffet. Over £25 for adults and over £15 for children . My adult vegan daughter had a choice of rice, chips, vegan nuggets and salad . There were no vegan choices for dessert …. Even the fruit was plastic ! I did ask someone who offered to go to the other restaurant for a sorbet . A lot to pay for nuggets !!

Hello, Just to point out, my family have been here many times, the last time we went was in may, we also have came here for breakfast as well. Breakfast wise, this place has limited, but really yummy food. For example, Fried egg, Ham/Cheese slices, Fruits, Pancakes e.g. For drinks, you can get apple or orange juice, milk, tea or coffee. For dinner, you get even more, with meats from Chicken, Gammon, Turkey and more stuff like Mexican Nachos with Nacho Cheese, Sausage, Fruit, and, so much more! Dessert is always the favourite, with vanilla ice cream in a bowl and many topping to add on, like marshmallows and chocolate circles. Also, if you're not feeling ice cream, their is also brownies and churros. For drinks, you can get apple or orange juice, and (if you paid for a glass) coke/Fanta e.g. If you need cutlery, just ask one of the staff and they will give it to you. They will also come from time to time to pick up your empty, (or full, if you didn't want to finish it) plates. The place is very nice, with music connecting with the theme of the place, and even a fountain in the middle making a nice show for you to watch. The seats are very comfy and there are bathrooms. There is a bar and seating area outside the buffet and also outside seats for the buffet and bar. I'm always excited to go to this buffet and they never let me down. Really recommended! The price is mid for this place, though.

On arrival we were shown the card machine that shown £80 which did not include drinks for two adults and two toddlers. To choose from there was a style hospital roast, orange chicken korma, a tinned style chilli. Kids food included cold fry fish fingers, sausages and chicken nuggets that not even the kids would eat. The staff were chatting amongst themselves and not actually doing anything. Please please don’t waste your money, you can goto a nice restaurant and have decent food for the same price! Stay away

What a lovely restaurant! Staff were helpful and happy, ot had a lovely theme and most of the food was gorgeous. The guy who greeted us initially, sold me a refillable drink on the basis I could have squash, once he realised this wasn't available at the moment, he very kindly offered us a refund, which we didn't take - really appreciated his efforts to help. Would visit again

Food was good and the restaurant was pretty clean (better staff clearing tables and cleaning the floor in the morning than evening), however what really set the restaurant apart was the service. We asked for some fruit in the evening for our daughter as there was none on display, two members of staff went to the other restaurant on site to ask for some and were refused, so the manager Ant kindly tried and received the same response due to “the risk of cross contamination”. He was however able to get the chef in this restaurant to kindly provide some water melon and pineapple, which was greatly appreciated. The following morning we had a number of interactions with Cristina who was incredibly fun and kind with our daughter. Our only criticism is that £8.25 for a pint of IPA is obscene!

Shocking. I can’t believe a company as large as Merlín would allow such an embarrassing restaurant to operate in their own hotel. I can now understand why they charge you as before you eat; I can’t imagine anyone would pay once they’d tried the pathetic food on offer. A selection of roasted meats sounds good at first until you get back to your table and find the beef is so chewy it was inedible and the turkey so dry it resembled cardboard. I took a video of the fish fingers to show how solid they were. You could have knocked nails in with them. They were so dehydrated that there wasn’t actually any any fish left inside! The common factor throughout every dish was that they were stone cold. Not warm, cold. The churros must have come from the same place as the fish fingers. They were solid. We really couldn’t find enough to eat that would have justified the kids price let alone the adult’s ridiculous price. Nearly a hundred quid for five of us including the flat, refillable if you could be bothered, soft drinks. If my review can save even one family making the same mistake that I did I’ll be happy. Merlin and chessington are obviously satisfied with ripping customers off who have already paid a handsome sum to stay in the hotel by their lack of response to any of the bad reviews, of which there are many.

Appalling! 7 of us (4 adults and 3 children) stayed for a birthday celebration weekend. We ate in the temple restaurant in the evening. We love buffets and were really looking forward to the meal. We couldn't have been more disappointed. The food was cold. Not luke warm, stone cold frozen, especially all the roast meat and vegetables. When I complained I was simply told, by the lady on the payment desk, "yeah, another customer complained about that too". The staff made no effort to rectify the situation or even apologise. Avoid!

We had breakfast here after staying the night at the hotel. Overall it was a bit of a mixed bag. The theming is excellent and the quality of the food was pretty good, but the service and cleanliness let’s it down. We arrived at 8:30am on a Monday, so definitely not as busy as it could have been, and there were still multiple items that had run out, tables that hadn’t been cleared and a general lack of proactively from the staff. We would be very reluctant to visit on a peak day.

The meat quality was good but the guy who hacked it left the string on the beef which I removed. The veg was over cooked and cold. The cabbage was the only veg I had that wasn’t over cooked. The only gravy they had was vegan onion gravy which had no flavour and was very watery. With the food being cold it did mean we didn’t have to cool it for the kids. The salad bar and hummus was good as a starter but there wasn’t enough there to make a meal. The kids liked the ice cream and churros. This and some fruit was the only desserts. It is very over priced for what is on offer. If it was £5 per person less then it would of scored higher as for the food on offer would of met that price.

We paid £63.80 online for two adults and two kids and found that if we paid on entrance it would be £16 per adult and £9 per child, so £50. We were therefore scammed out of £13.80. I tried to resolve this and reception sent me to the temple duty manager who sent me back to reception, who sent me back to them who then told me to query it online, saying the menu recently changed so its now cheaper. I also found I could have applied a bluelight discount, as the people in front used it, knocking it down to £40. In terms of the food, if you are vegetarian then there is almost nothing for you. Meat alternative was macaroni cheese or potatoes, some toast veg or salad. The kids ate very little as the beef was too tough, the gammon was quite rubbery and the sausages were an u usual variety, while the potatoes tasted and looked like Aunt Bessie's frozen potatoes.Overall I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Kids had sausage and chips which were fine. Husband said the mash was good too. Can't fault the food, good selection and well cooked, and the staff were hard working and friendly. Only 2 complaints, firstly that you can't have alcohol with your meal (God knows we all need one after a day in a theme park!) and secondly the sound effects and lighting are awful. Was is cordon bleu? No. Was it well cooked food and good value for money. Yes. Would go again.

I checked out the reviews on the food here beforehand and almost cancelled my booking because of how awful they are, my daughter persuaded us to give it a go and I'm glad we did. It was £30 for the two of us and quite honestly you can't ask for much more for the kids especially as the food and drinks are all you can eat so it's ideal for kiddies who like puddings and treat food for the holidays. The vegetarian callenoni and salad was nice for adults and the staff were were really lovely my daughter loved the themed lighting and sounds quite honestly I think people are expecting way too much for what they pay, the food coming out was always fresh and hot and everyone was adhering to covid safety measures :)

The food was beyond awful. We went to eat at 8.00pm. You cannot have a glass of wine with dinner as alcohol is banned for reasons I cannot fathom. The food looked as if it had been sitting under heated lamps for hours. The meat and vegetables we dried out and tasteless. It wasn't fit for human consumption.

We went to this restaurant in may 2021, I thought it would be a lovely treat for the children. The food was an absolute let down, there wasn’t much that was edible. There were pre-packed pasta salads they were the only thing that tasted ok. It was an absolute rip off and we will not be returning. UP YOUR GAME temple restaurant and stop ripping families off.

We had breakfast here as we were staying at the attached Chessington hotel. The food itself was perfectly fine, just what you need and nothing more. I’ve had a lot lot worse. However the reason for the poor rating is due to the horrendous noise that plays round the restaurant ever 45 minutes or so. My son was enjoying his breakfast and was fascinated by the ants walking round the tube on the outside of the room, but then the noise and lights started and it completely ruined it. Thankfully we were right at the end of breakfast when it went off, had we been halfway through we would have had to of left as it upset him so much. It then impacted his whole day in the park as as soon as he heard a loud noise start he thought it was the same thing again and started to get upset again. We chose to have breakfast in this restaurant due to the family friendly theme but it’s quite the opposite. Even as an adult I found the noise and lights completely inappropriate where it was so loud and dark, you could barely see what was on your plate. It utterly baffles me that anyone ever thought the noise and light show was a good idea, it needs binning off as soon as possible. Stop scaring children!

I’ve had some bad food experiences in my time but this is by far the worst. You know it’s bad when the kids are starving but don’t want to finish their food.Everything is buffet, the food is dried out & left under a hot light. Sausages like rubber, chips cold, Mac & cheese stodgy. Corn on the cob cold & dry. Mash in a huge bowl left to dry out. The veg was good, well cooked with some crunch & left in water under the hot light so it doesn’t dry out.Ice cream for the kids was like frozen ice with a very sweet flavour. Brownie & strawberries good. The pot desserts...AWFUL.Do yourself a huge favour & avoid this place. £65 for a family of four. Horrendous. Truly horrendous. It’s like a really, really bad service station & they charge £12 for children as young as three & £20 for adults. Go find a local pub for dinner.

We visited here for the buffet breakfast as we were staying at the hotel. We were seated quickly & explained what was on offer and where to find it all. There’s a piranha tank, large fountain and several TV’s dotted around, all of which are welcome distractions for the children while awaiting their food.Roughly every 15-20 minutes there’s a ‘storm’ where the noise of a storm plays, the TV’s put up storm barriers & the fountain goes a little crazy. It’s good fun & our children (7 & 8 years old) loved it, though littler ones might need to be warned. As to the food itself, we tried the cereals, cold items, hot breakfast & the pastries and were very happy with it all.

Taken to a table in a very dark area with loud background bass music that scared our 3 year old. Knives, forks and cups left on the table, without any explanation of where the food and drinks were or if it was self service and staff member just wandered off. We asked for a high chair to be told “I don’t think we do them here”, after us complaining he begrudgingly said he’d look for one.We ended up asking another staff member, as the first one was just standing chatting and 20 minutes later, we got a high chair. No drinks for young kids available, only fizzy options, asked for water to be told they only had Fanta or Coke.We were about to walk out when we finally found a staff member who had any sense. She was very helpful, after not being able to move us to the other restaurant at the hotel, she moved us to a different table in a quieter area, asked another staff member to bring us the highchair over and went herself down to the other end of the hotel to get still drinks for the kids. Unfortunately the staff member ignored her regarding the highchair so my husband ending up saying “excuse me” to get past 6 staff members standing around chatting to get a high chair himself from the other side of the restaurant. When we finally got food from the buffet 40 minutes later, it really wasn’t very nice, it was dry from sitting under heat lamps for a long time, not very warm, most things covered in salt so not really suitable for younger kids. Not sure I’ve ever had such bad food from a restaurant. Side points- tables in bad condition and splintering along the edges, ceiling leaking with buckets catching drips around food areas, cleared down food left in open bags right next to food servings hatches. We pre-paid for the meal when we booked our trip, or we would have been refusing to pay for this awful experience. If there was absolutely any other options we could have used to feed our young kids, we wouldn’t of eaten here at all.Downside of a resort complex when you’ve got hungry young kids after a busy day who need to eat, and the only option you have is dreadful. Couldn’t be more disappointed after a lovely day at the park.

Waited far too long for food. The tables weren’t clean & we had to ask a member of staff to come & clean it. We waited so long I went & bought some nachos from another place to bring in for my kids to eat while we waited. When the food did arrive, they’d got it mixed up. The waitress looked very embarrassed.

Absolutely horendous food, like a school canteen. I only booked as receptionist said it was brilliant for kids with a fish tank and a ant thing that went around the restaurant. Turned up and there were no ants and the restaurant was so dark you wouldn't have been able to see them anyway. We got sat in a freezing cold conservatory type area with people all sat next to eachother while the whole restaurant sat empty and to be charged £47 for horrendous food! Never again

Booked to stay at the safari hotel with my wife and 2 daughters. When confirmation came through was advised to book a table for evening meal in advance so as not to be disappointed which we did but was not given an option of which restaurant to book as we did not realise there were 2 resteraunts to eat at. So the first disappointment was when we waited to be sat at the bar and grill resteraunt and to be told we had not booked here but the temple bar which is further along. So we get to the temple bar not realising it was going to be a buffet style resteraunt and were asked to pay upfront. 2x adults and 2 x children aged 3 and 6 (who dont have the biggest of appetites at the best of times).......£70!!!!!I nearly choked and my wifes jaw hit the floor. Knowing we didnt have much else choice with getting to another restaurant with the covid situation we reluctantly paid and were shown to our table which was not at all socially distanced with other guests. The room was extremely dark and so noisy which was already making my girls anxious and uncomfortable. All soft drinks were help your self but alcohol had to be ordered by mobile app. 2 beers in plastic cups... another £10!!!Anyone who is paranoid about the covid situation would have a breakdown in there. We were told there is a one way system to use the buffet which everyone seemed to ignore even the people serving and cleaning tables seem to be walking through people around the buffet. The food was unappealing to look at along with the smell. It really was like old time school dinners .I had the beef curry and rice which was very bland and the small bits meat where fatty and chewy. I then went back up for the ribs which I must admit looked rather nice but the sauce smothering them was really bitter and like vinegar. My wife tried the bolognese which she say was bland and lifeless. My 3 yr old tried the macaroni who didnt even touch it and ended up eating some of my wifes bolognese. My 6 yr old who is extremely fussy would only have plain pasta and a slice of garlic bread. Cheesecake for dessert was ok nothing special and ice cream for the kids which they didnt eat and just wanted to get out of there asap.So that was the most expensive worst meal we have ever had. Considering the night before we went to a brewers fayre at the premier inn we stayed at all had a meal to which we all enjoyed along with 2 rounds of drinks and proper table service for £44. A bit more reasonable I think.

We have just had the bad fortune to have eaten ‘dinner’ in the Temple ‘Restaurant’ at Chessington... I put this is in inverted commas because I don’t believe this particular venue can call itself a restaurant. I think a school canteen would be offended at this comparison! We arrived with our two boys for our 2 night stay this morning, knowing full well what to expect, having stayed a couple of years ago (albeit eating in the Zafari Restaurant on that occasion); it’s a kids hotel, the food will be basic. We can get on board with that. However, ‘basic‘ doesn’t cover it.We were greeted with a plastic tray donned with paper cups and dirty cutlery. The place was so dimly lit I wasn’t even sure it was open. The food was simply awful. The fish fingers looked like cardboard, the children were served around 3 chips each, the gammon and veg my husband reluctantly chose was inedible and the boys’ chocolate brownie was a dry brown brick on a plate! Not to mention, the staff were all hanging around in groups chatting to each other!...... and we paid £60 for the privilege!!! I’ve no idea how this place is deemed an acceptable place to eat at a hotel in which you pay over £1000 for a 2 night stay! Such a disappointment, as this was a special treat for our eldest before he starts school next week.Avoid!!

Echo comments below, the food was truly awful - limited in choice, though that might be a good thing as everything we tried was terrible, we ended up leaving hungry. The fact that the food alone costs £70 for a family of 4 is laughable. Red wine came in a half filled plastic cup. It was also incredibly noisy to the extent we could hardly hear ourselves speak. Combined, struggling to remember a worse eating experience. An owner more concerned with counting the £ than leaving their customers happy.

The food is absolutely horrendous, the “smoked” chicken leg tastes of smoked haddock and somePieces are pink, the vegetables taste as if there’s chemicals on them and they haven’t been washed. Everything else is sub par. I wouldn’t wish this meal upon my worst enemy. As well as awful food the noise levels are awful, occasionally there’s flashing lights and loud noises (for which there were no trigger warnings for). We went here for breakfast. You are required to book a slot, which was easy to do with the app. When we arrived we were greeted and asked to sanitize our hands, we were then shown to our table. However, you are then allowed to go up and get your food (choosing from continental, vegetarian and cooked) . For the toast a member of staff passes it to you, and for the cooked food you go to teh station and a memer of staff puts the requested order on the plate and hands it to you. You are free to get your own hot drinks, cold drinks, pastries and cereal for yourself, and you are able to go up as many times as you want. We had stayed at the legoland hotel the night before, and tehy gave you a buzzer to get your food. This is a system that we much preferred as we felt safer and less crowded. The food however was freshly cooked and prepared (apart from the toast) and was enjoyed by the whole family as there was a good range.

My youngest opted as usual for the chips chicken pieces beans and desert, while the rest of us has the curry, which was ok. One complaint is that the level of lighting in certain areas of the restaurant is bordering on pitch black and you struggle to have any real conversations as you cant see one another. I understand that it is to set the mood with the theme of the restaurant but maybe turn it up a notch. The breakfast was a good selection and set us up for the day ahead. You really do have to book both evening meal and breakfast in advance if you wish to eat in the Temple Restaurant.
