Afrikana Leicester in Leicester

Went to Afrikana for my birthday lunch. The food was fantastic and our waitress, Fariha, was really quick and efficient! Will definitely be back again.

Food was absolutely divine! We got a bunny chow and chicken platter and everything was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Our waitress was Fariha and was extremely quick, attentive and thoughtful! We were celebrating a birthday and she went out of her way to organise the cake and sparkler while the birthday guest was away from the table. The restaurant was super clean and gorgeous, and music was a great volume for easy speaking. Will definitely return!

So rude people I have seen one delivery rider came to collect the food and the staff misbehaving with one of the rider which was very embarrassing

This place had a nice ambience. The food tasted average, and it was quite expensive for the portion size.

We are regulars here the food was amazing as usual our favourite is the island fish and chips. Wasn't having a great day however Tobi changed that from the start to the end. He took very ncoe pictures of us then placed us on a lovely table, food came quick and we a loved the dry ice smoke. Amna very kindly gave our kids sweets which made them happy. Thank u for making our day special.

Really nice food. I have a few allergies. Haseeb was very helpful. He got the allergen menu for me so I could check what I could have.

Little cheeky chops deliciously cooked in marinade to perfection with pomegranate. Mash was creamy and smooth and passion star mocktail..just Mwah. Relaxing atmosphere, warm inviting Professional and friendly staff..Rumanah made me feel very welcome. Great chef, food cooked to order. Fresh and definitely worth the wait

Tobi was very friendly and assisted with order promptly. He checked in on our table regularly to ensure we were content.

Massive thank you to Rumanah and team for taking care of us. Big party from neighbouring Hastings Direct and the service was nothing short of excellent. Food was top quality too. We hope to visit again soon

We had an absolutely delightful dinner at this restaurant tonight! Despite our group of 30, the staff handled everything seamlessly, seating and serving us with warm smiles and exceptional efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and their friendly demeanor made the evening even more enjoyable. I started with the prawn appetizer, followed by the salmon main course—both were absolutely outstanding. To round off the meal, I indulged in a refreshing Mojito and the decadent 'Stack it Up' dessert. Everything was so beautifully presented that I wish I had taken photos, but honestly, I couldn’t resist diving in right away. This was a truly memorable dining experience, and I’ll gladly return for another meal in the future!

I was excited about celebrating my partner’s birthday at Afrikana on 14 Dec. The lady Rumanah contacted me for a £100 deposit for a reservation. Initially, she said I could pay thru the link. I had been asking for a link for 10 days, and she kept replying “I will do it shortly,” and not giving me anything. I have no clue what’s wrong with her today. I live in Birmingham, an hour away from Leics, and she told me to “GO TO THE RESTAURANT” and “PAY IN CASH.” How ridiculous and disappointing is it? -10 stars for Rumanah 👎🏻

Amazing food! We had the "nice to meat you" platter and it was phenomenal! Full of flavour and freshly cooked! Tobi and Mateenah took great care of us. Thank you, will return for sure!

I came in here for a specific reason today, to eat plantain, where I live there's no restaurants with plantain sadly. I recently lost my dad and he loved plantain, so it was a very special occasion for me. I also had the lamb chops, and mac and cheese. It was absolutely gorgeous, and served so quickly with massive portions!I can't remember for the life of me the mock mocktail that I had but it was absolutely delicious. I was given a qr card to review but I unfortunately lost it in transit. My server was absolutely lovely though and so well mannered! And the plantain made my day for sentimental reasons. Your prices are beyond cheap and exceeded my expectations. In fact the whole experience exceeded my expectations in every way! Thankyou so much and I will literally come to Leicester again just to eat food here! Absolutely beautiful in every sense. Don't even think about going there, just do it!

Had a wonderful lunch experience here! Went around lunchtime on a Wednesday, and it was very quiet, which made for a relaxed dining atmosphere. The food was fresh with really good flavors—each dish tasted like it was made with quality ingredients and care. Service was also excellent, attentive without being intrusive. All in all, a great spot for a quiet, tasty meal. Highly recommend!

Great atmosphere for family or friends, spacious restaurant, good spice level in food if you want it. Tasty and halal. The steak had a unique glaze and what cheese said is really nice, jollof is good. Rumanah was a great server, thank you!

Excellent atmosphere, good music, large space and beautiful decorations. The staff is really friendly, especially Rumanah. The food, although delicious, is not really 'African': you'll get curry, chilli or burgers. No fufu nor kasava. Be warned and have a great time!

Food was spot on! Unfortunately, the service was appalling. We waited ages for our order to be taken and then once we had eaten it took the staff ages to clear our table!! Inexperienced waiters just hanging around and talking to their co-workers rather than attending to their customers! Will not be returning anytime soon.

Ive been here quite often but havent been in about 10 months. Came here on thursday last week, food took ages to come and im assuming its because they decided to serve the table that came after us and ordered after us first. Could have at least asked us if that was okay rather than telling us our food will take 30 minutes as when we arrived we were very hungry Customers notice these things you cant just prioritise and think it goes unnoticed - looks so bad Overall the food is decent but the service isnt the best here - has really gone down hill

Food tasted so nice and was affordable as to compared to order places we’ve been to. The Mrs ordered extra spicy chicken and trust me, she got what she wanted 😃. Order came early and we really enjoyed it a lot. Their fries were extra crispy which was my favourite. I will definitely recommend this anyone who loves to take their partner out for something special. The lady(Amna) there was very nice and patience. She seems to be a very hard worker and I liked that. Good food, nice place… everything was on point! We loved the cocktails we ordered too

Reserved online. They had me & bf waiting in Lobby, no one came to check. One lady saw us and said wait there and that was the last interactive. After waiting 10 mins. We were the only ones waiting and it wasn't packed. We decided to leave, as why should we give our money for bad service.

❌ Avoid - Food poisoning ❌ My son and his friends came on 18/10 and had a chicken and prawn dish but can’t remember names. That night, he complained of a stomach ache and was vomiting throughout the night. It’s now Wednesday, and he's still being sick!!!! Not happy at all about this, your food is usually good. We will not be coming here anymore.

Lovely service. It was my daughter 18th birthday. Food was amazing. Rumanah and Ty were very friendly looked after us. We brought a cake for her the staff offered to put a sparkler on the cake and played her a birthday song. Which was lovely. Definitely recommend Afrikana.

The decor and ambience/ atmosphere here were gorgeous. However, the service needs alot of improvment, the waiters dint seem to be bothered to take your order, it was so difficult to even try and get a waiters attention when we went in on a Sunday evening and it wasn't even busy. The lady next to us also went to complain about the service. The food I must say was very tasty, although we had to wait 1 hour for it after ordering. I don't think I'll be returning soon. Pls ensure enough time time to eat as orders take long.

Initially, Afrikana came across as a fancy Nando’s, however I’d say it’s not even on their quality. I had a the vegan burger without the cheese. I upgraded the fries to sweet potato. Overall it wasn’t bad but nothing special. It filled a hole, but I wouldn’t come back for it, especially given the price charged. We also ordered the rotisserie chicken. If you’re looking for traditional rotisserie chicken, this IS NOT it. The chicken pieces felt like they’d been gently heated on a pan with loads of sauce. They felt squidgy and rubbery, like slightly firmer bits of tofu. It was a very underwhelming dish. The only saving grace was the dessert. “You’re so lavly” - the molten lava cake was quite moreish. Not overly sweet and went well with the cool texture of the ice cream.

It was busy today however our server ismael kept updating us on the progress off the food. Would recommend the goat curry and the different chicken options with a large variety of flavours. Will definitely be coming again.

Came for a birthday meal today, Was served by Rumanah Ismael and fariah, Although it was extremely busy they managed to get us all that we needed. The prawns to be wild was a great starter and the kickin in Kenya platter had a great variety for us to enjoy. Will definitely be coming again, the birthday was a great vibe!
