I have read some of the awful reviews about the Affleck - mainly they concern Jackie. They are hilarious, as these people cleary don't get it and should probably stick to the boring places they obviously prefer. I assure you they won't be missed. She certainly can be rude, but I and everyone I know think she's brilliant and a proper character, which is so rare these days. And the pub is an absolute gem. A proper country pub which concentrates on its beer - you won't get a better pint anywhere, especially at these prices. John is a great host and prides himself on to keeping a perfect pint. That is very rare too these days. Ok, it doesn't serve food, but it does have various vans at different times and barbeques. How many pubs do you know that thrive on drinks sales only, especially when charging well under the average. It's because the pub is so popular - and the family that run it are the reason for that. People come from miles around as well as locally - it's a great mix from all walks of life. My favourite pub without any doubt - I just wished I lived closer.

This has to be the best public house in East Anglia, if not the country, half the price of any other pub I know of and the quality of the beer is awesome. The landlord although Bi-curious is a fantastic bloke and his mother an absolute gem.

Superb pub. Friendly Landlords, great place! No airs or graces. Everyone welcome. Visited many times. Bring cash as not card machine, at least not when I was last there!

Staff made us feel very unwelcome, landlady was unbelievably rude. Not a suitable place to stop if you are in the middle of a walk. Does not do food.

WOW! what an obnoxious landlady. The drunker she gets the ruder she gets. She cares not who you are, a regular or a first time patron, she will probably swear at you at some point during your visit. She get louder and louder as she gets more drunk and tells people to **** off at the slightest provocation for example asking to pay by card!. It's largely cash only and woe betide the brave soul who wishes to pay by card. The pub sits in the prettiest village and used to attract a lovely young horsey crowd from Newmarket but lately a less desirable customer seems to frequent the pub....I wonder why? We took a visitor there and felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable in that environment we left So avoid at all costs if you are offended by an extremely rude drunken landlady or sit outside out of earshot. Such a shame

Proper pub, well kept beer at very reasonable prices. I don't understand some of the other reviews, the landlady is very friendly and has always made us feel welcome.

We came here as a group of ten friends whilst doing the Three Churches walk. Such a fun and friendly pub - we were made to feel so welcome by the landlady and really good value pricing too !!!

This a down to earth proper drinking pub with a good selection of well kept beer. John and his Mum are gems. Both real characters. I cannot relate to some of the comments in the poor reviews. If this is not your kind of place, just say so. It isn’t helpful posting blatantly unfair tripe.

Splendid. Jackie is a lamb. Landlord is a but sus. Aidan saw Matt Hancock and his bird. Mr Tumble likes vodka apparently and some lad sits on the sofa selling cheese. Love the water feature

Jackie is the highlight - John is questionable? The lad in the corner selling cheese is somewhat of a stud. 10/10 will return!

we ordered 2 soft drinks, she insisted I pour my own lime cordial although I had my hands full with the dog. Asked if they served food she said no but said we would have mini cheddars and that should do (didn't give a choice). When we asked to pay by card, she was extremely put out and kept swearing loudly about us "not f***ing worth the hassle with the machine" etc The same lady was discussing with some regulars and making a number of racist comments about the newsreader on the TV. The barlady was working with a glass of wine in hand and as we left the pub we got shouted at to close the door as we were still walking out of it! All in all an extremely unpleasant and unwelcomed visit.

When I asked if they did coffee I was given a big sigh, then when I asked what type I was told reluctantly that they only did filter coffee. Before I had chance to ask my wife what other drink she might like I was told to go to the Packhorse where they would give me everything I wanted. We would have ordered lunch, with drinks but my wife just fancied a coffee first…….needless to say we left the Affleck Arms (with one person in it) and walked to the Packhorse Inn (which was teeming) where we had a great visit! The woman at the Affleck Arms should either sell or change career, service is just not your thing!

Visited the affleck arms recently with friends Landlord was very friendly, slightly too friendly with some female members of our group but was good service. Lady doing burgers was lovely and food was good Landlady however, disgraceful. Rude. The way she speaks to people is disgusting. And she leers after certain men (most of which were years younger!) at her age should behave better. Looks like she is in 80’s!! Sad cow

Great place to stop. Everybody trying hard to conform to COVID-19 requirements. Full of characters including the landlord and landlady. Made to feel really welcome. Probably not for the feint hearted but a proper pub.

She doesnt seem to like children either. And tells customers to f off and such all in all not a good place to go!! Shame its a nice pub and landlord seemed nice!

Called this pub to try and book a table but was completely shocked by the response from the woman on the phone! She didn’t even say hello, just shouted down the phone ‘what do you want? I’ve got customers waiting, yes we are open, is that what you wanted to know?!!! Her tone and attitude was disgusting... certainly put us off!

This pub is undoubtedly the best in the area. Johnny & his parents are always so welcoming. Pub usually packed which reflects the genuine good value here. Great selection of ales and snacks. Pint of tap water will cost you more than a pint of best bitter - check out the sign in the photo & ask Johnny if you dare! The Tin Kitchen visits every Friday evening from 6-9pm to provide a selection of absolutely delicious filled ciabatta’s.New monthly curry club is a great idea too - looking forward to visiting one of these evenings soon! Well done Affleck team - keep this jewel going forever. See you soon!

Landlord John has now got his Champion Club Establishment certificate from Timothy Taylor signed by the Head Brewer. He really does deserve it. You want good Real Ale presented perfectly, this is the place. The wines are coming along a treat. Gin & Fever Tree. Food is now available on a Friday night in the form of an Artisan Ciabatta. Is this pub unique for having NO WIFI & no mobile signal :-))

Beautiful village with an amazing pub! We went in to be greated by a very friendly barman, who when asked if they served food said we could get a burger before 6. The burger was fantastic with bacon, cheese and sides. There was if we'd arrived earlier homemade cheesecake and ice-cream, all served by a very friendly lady. The drinks were cheeper than a lot of other places. The pub was busy on this Sunday evening, obviously very popular and as we were leaving there were free cooking apples!!! What a gem of a place, can't wait to go back.

Very traditional English pub tucked away in a very cute town. Really feels like a proper English experience. They have a selction of Adnams and other imports. They are cash only and dont serve food but have a fish and chips truck that stops outside the pub. Great pub with very cheap drinks.

Costa Coffee ☕ the coffee was good the sweet treats were tasty. Served quick and the place was clean. However the staff seemed a little unorganised. It's an average costa coffee not exceptional but good for a coffee and chat.

We didn’t really eat here, apart from a tasty but small bowl of chips. The atmosphere is great, plenty of space, plenty of places to sit. Lots and lots of tv screens with all sport showing. Staff are very accommodating, turning tv stations over for guests to watch different matches. Floor service available and drinks/ food can be brought to your table. Giant screen which is brilliant to watch!
