Excellent local comprising of a separate lounge and saloon bar. Seems very popular. 4 ales on, including red bass (rare treat) all served well. Slightly more expensive than other pubs in the area, however atomosphere makes up for this. Well staffed bar as well so little wait time.

Local pub. Depending on time of day you're either welcome or you're not. Locals in, not friendly. Local pub, local mentality. Landlady lovely, landlord NOT.

Decided to go for a Christmas drink with the family at this establishment tonight, first mistake. As soon as we arrived we felt as though we were not welcome. I didn’t expect this kind of treatment directly from the landlord, safe to say we will DEFINITELY not be coming here again.

I have to say it was a horrendous experience, I was on a pub crawl with some of my friends and my fathers friends, we arrived here at our penultimate pub expecting a lovely experience but we got quite the opposite. From the beginning, when simply asking one of the customers if he was using the pool table which had been untouched for the past 20 minutes he replied with ‘well yeah, that’s why it’s racked up’, a lovely way to start, not long followed by the landlord walking past my friend and I and quite aggressively saying excuse me so he could get outside. Towards the end we then were about to leave and I was barely perched on the edge of the pool table and the landlord said to me ‘can you move then, there’s people playing’. After having a conversation with him with my dad because I felt it was unecessary, he tried to say he said it politely and thinks he said please can I get off etc, he lied to our faces, and spoke to us awfully, given we spent over £200 in there as a party they were incredibly ungrateful and i am certain I will never be going back as long as they are running it.

A lovely little pub, with pool table and outside space. Small selection of lagers and ales, however, you never feel short for choice.

Had takeway from here many times, but the last time there was a hidden splinter in my food. It pierced through my gums and I had to remove it with pliers. Okay, mistakes happen. But the restaurant claim it is impossible that it came from them. They won't refund because we ate the food. I had ate most of it when it happened?? I wasn't even bothered about I refund I just wanted some sort of acknowledgement and for them to be more careful. Are they seriously suggesting I put the splinter in there myself?

First time we've visited here for a long time on a Sunday as we found the Pig & Muck some years ago, where the Carvery was outstanding. Unfortunately, that's now changed hands and a Carvery is no longer offered, so we tried The Crown again. The Pros: Staff were all lovely, really friendly and very attentive. We've always liked the interior of this Pub and it had been refreshed since our last visit, many years ago. Cons: Welcome at the actual Carvey was "what do you want mate"! What can I get for you, without the mate, would seem more appropriate. First dissapointing thing food wise, was only a choice of 3 meats. Perhaps we were spoilt at The Pig & Muck, as there was always beef, pork, pork belly, lamb, gammon and turkey on a Sunday. The meat we had at The Crown though was good. Frozen Yorkshire Puddings were also dissapointing. Most establishments serving a great Sunday Lunch pride themselves on homemade Yorkshire. The Cauliflower and Brocoli Cheese was just awful. The sauce was as runny as water. It seems the staff are the biggest asset here, as the Carvery was not good enough to return. I know the long established Chef left a few months ago, so maybe this is problem.

Lovely staff, nice place, not a great selection of drinks, but the staff more than make up for that! Would like to see more ipa options, one on draught perhaps .

Excellent Sunday carvery and very friendly staff. I would rate the carvery as one of the best.
