había reservado un almuerzo especial para cuatro semanas antes de la comida planificada. recibí un correo electrónico me recordaba a la reserva unos días antes, pero luego en la mañana, recibí una llamada de teléfono a decir que ya no podían acomodar.no nos ofrecen un lugar en el club de golf no 19 donde la comida era buena, pero fue un club y había una gran pantalla, no había nadie para recibirnos y era más caro.

I posted a very complimentary review here a short while ago (which I have deleted), but this month's visit was an absolute disaster. I have had 'Belly Pork' here, and elsewhere, before and it was delicious. This time a 'bowl' of glutinous brown gravy appeared with something underneath and the usual vegetables. What was underneath I guess was the meat, but I should have known there was something to hide. There was more fat than meat with some form of stuffing. It tasted of nothing in particular and no crackling. There was far too much mashed potato and the carrots were almost raw. I left most of it and was offered a free dessert, not knowing what was to follow. One of my favourite 'puds' is Eton Mess, which I usually request 'on a plate to save delving into a sundae glass. I forgot, this time and it arrived in a hemispherical bowl, full to overflowing. The problem here arose because the meringue was a solid disc floating on a sea of cream/juice. Trying to break the meringue meant pushing down on it, and in doing so the liquid rose up and flowed over the edge of the bowl, all over the table. In both cases, I can see the virtue of taking photographs of both courses. Whether the chef I praised so much in my previous review has left, to be replaced by someone on work experience or whether he/she was on holiday, I know not, but it cannot be the same person this time. I shall return, as I like the atmosphere and the view, but I shall be very careful in what I order next time.

Past in by when I wanted a snack for lunch. There was a small queue but quickly went. Three sausage rolls were ordered and all three of us said they weren’t great. They were cold and we got ones warmed up in the microwave because we wanted them hot. The tray bake selection however looked good, never tried it though.

On a day out to Corbridge, we decided to return to the BLACK BULL, as we have been here a few times before and have always enjoyed the food. So today was no exception, we were greeted by Aeryn who showed us to our table and brought us the menus. After a few moments we were greeted by Blake who took our drinks order,and shortly after took our food order. We both opted for fish and chips one with mushy peas and one with garden peas. They were both huge. I couldn't finish all of mine but had really enjoyed it. Aeryn and Blake were both very attentive throughout and made us feel very welcome 🙏 We won't hesitate to return.

Beautiful Lamb Sunday Dinner delivered to High Spen, still hot, marvellous gravy, friendly driver. Will definitely be ordering again, thank you.
