I was very pleased with everything Lampery London had to offer. Extraordinary dishes for breakfast and dinner. We happened to be there during a menu change and enjoyed a gastronomic treat. We tasted the new menu for the first time. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff serving us were very friendly and attentive! Thank you!

We had half the menu between our group. Everything was outstanding. I had the duck, rosemary fries, and a salad. I would easily recommend everything I had. Our server, Kat, did a bang up job. If I stay in this part of London again, we’ll definitely be back.

Our Christmas Menu to Apex Hotel London, The Lampery Restaurant at a fully pre paid cost of £180, was not submitted to the kitchen from the point of reservation which we had made with Charlotte, prior to our arrival at the hotel. On raising our first complaint with the waitress at The Lampery we were advised Charlotte had not submitted the order to the restaurant kitchen despite promising she had submitted our pre-paid order to the kitchen. In response, the waitress gave my husband and I one glass of wine which she referred to as "Bribery Drinks". The waitress expressed she was unsure if our menu choices were available in the kitchen given our order was not received in advance by the kitchen. The Lampery Restaurant Floor Manager was so NONE PRESENT/ no where to be seen at this point of failure!! The second complaint is where the second course was delivered to the table whilst we were still eating the first course. The waitress explanation for this was, she did not want the second course to go cold in the kitchen and to make a fresh second course would take too long. The third complaint is, the fire alarm test went off direectly from the fire alarm point which was located directy in the centre of the dining room where guests were eating, and this fire drill was without any pre-warning from the staff who set the alarm off right in front of our faces. The fourth complaint is, once the second course had been eaten, for what was a fully pre-paid 3 course Christmas meal, it actually became a 2 course meal. We were the only guests in the restaurant at this point and we were left abandoned in the restaurant by both the waiters and manager. We were waiting for the third and final pre-paid course which was desert, which after 40 minutes of waiting, never turned up! We therefore requested a waiter to check what had happened to our desert which had been pre-ordered. His response came back as "he did not know, he tried to ask", He then added, the desert ticket must have got lost". This is the fith complaint. La-Toya's response to explain this away was, the kitchen must be preparing for the dinner seating - its done about one hour in advance So that tells me, if you are still eating lunch at 17:00pm then you will be abandoned and may have to wait up to one hour for your desert. At which point, I demanded we spoke to the manager but imstead we were sent over some inexperienced and random person who had no presence at all!! I therefore sent him away. When the manager eventually surfaced, we gave each other eye contact but instead he tried the "distancing and delay tactic" and chose to start filling up wine glasses at a table for guests who hadn't even asked/ waved for his attention!! This is the sixth complaint of poor customer service/ experience. Eventually, when I secured the manager's attention (who gave us his name as being Michael), he started to interrupt my husband who was trying to explain the nature of our complaint. The manager claimed to know all about the complaint already, yet despite him claiming to know of our original complaint of the errors made with the restaurant booking - the manager was clearly unprepared, dismissive and unapologetic for his failure to look after us following the origimal complaint made with Charlotte who works within the Customer Experience team. The is the seventh poor outcome. Micheal the restaurant manager, rather than attempting to provide resolution, he attempted to provide his resume which he tried to convince us, he had been a manager at The Shard Restaurant - but he only demonstrated very poor management. The manager simply walked away saying he would do something as he would be aroumd until 04:00am. However, he said he did not know what he would do to rectify. He then digressed by repeatedly saying, "it's Christmas' - well who doesn't know that it's Christmas?? That's why we had a Christmas menu right in front of our noses on the dining table - but being Christmas is not the resolution to a customer complaint and shoddy restaurant management! The manager then used one of his waitresses La-Toya, to chase us down the reception area with the bill to pay for the lunch, but we brought that back to her and the managers attention based on the managers promise to sort out our complaint - at this point I despair!!! The Lampery restaurant waitresses and manager have no professionalism, they lack class and training is almost VOID. They are not qualified to carry out their jobs and it was a Micky Mouse performance! With ZERO recognition of the Customer - the table next to us also demanded to speak to the manager with a complaint about slow service and no water or drinks provided to his table to accompany the meal he was having with his family. The manager once again appeared to apply delay tactics, taking up to 20 minutes to attend to that table to address that complaint. All these failings have occurred under the UNWATCHFUL EYE, of Micheal The Lampery Restaurant Manager, though purportedly he had previously worked as Restaurant Manager for The Shard and Manchester United Football club. The poor performance of The Lampery Restaurant staff and is a direct reflection of the incompetent Restaurant Manager who gave his name as Micheal.

Great service and food was nice. The restaurant is beautiful but they have a very bright, very distracting LED advertising sign in the solarium that is exceptionally unnecessary and distracting for such a beautiful space. I’m assuming it is to bring in foot traffic from outside, but it is distracting to patrons inside.

We ate in the restaurant one night for dinner. There were 4 of us. The food was lovely but the service not so great. Initially there was a mistake with our drinks order which was quickly rectified. We then ordered starters and mains. When the mains came they only brought out 2 sides of chips instead of 4. They said the other 2 sides of chips would be a minute or two, however it soon became clear they had forgot to cook them as we waited 4/5 minutes before they arrived by which time our steaks were only warm. We also had to ask for water for the table 3 times. Looking at other reviews I think we were just unlucky and the waiter was having a bad day. We couldn’t fault the food. The waiter adjusted the bill and didn’t charge us for the chips or our first drink as way of apology.

Beware of the £25GDB 3-course set menu advertised on the web menu for the restaurant because it was not honoured when we asked for it. We were given the excuse that we needed to pre-book online but there is nothing about that on their website. We suggested to the waiter to take the offer off their website if it doesn’t exist. I didn’t get the impression that this was going to occur. Food was okay and service was fine. The dishes entail relatively small portions. They charge for still water. There were only a few people in the restaurant on a Friday night. Their bait and switch tactic when it comes to offering a set menu is not going to help business.

Lovey setting with high ceilings, sunshine through the large windows and greenery hanging from the ceilings. Staff friendly and a nice continental spread. Unfortunately the staff don’t seem to communicate and we had at least four different people dealing with us. We ordered hot food and, having seen others who arrived after us getting theres, enquired after ours. Half an hour after ordering we received our eggs Benedict and eggs with avocado but both of us had one solid, overcooked poached egg. I complained and they bought another set but both still over cooked. Very disappointing.

Das merkte man der Speisekarte an, die ich zunächst nicht sehr originell fand: Kategorie gehobenes Bar Food. Das Essen war dann aber wirklich ausgezeichnet. Wir probierten mehreres: Vorspeise, Hauptspeise und Dessert. Es schmeckte ohne Ausnahme sehr gut. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Ambiente ist geschmackvoll, keine zu enge Bestuhlung, eine dezente und elegante Beleuchtung. Rundum empfehlenswert!

Food was mediocre but not terrible. Avoid the bread. Service was slow and rude.When the bill came, the server read out the total (inc. service charge) on the receipt whilst typing into the card machine - but when I looked at the screen the number was different! He tried to give himself an additional £3.50 of service charge on top of the standard 12.5% and was just hoping I wouldn't notice how much I was paying - and then seemed angry at ME when I pointed it out! Surely a scam, definitely illegal, very unimpressive. Double check your bill before paying. Would not recommend this restaurant.

Me alojé en el Apex hace cuatro años y disfruté cenar aquí en numerosas ocasiones. Mi primo y yo estuvimos aquí solo una noche en Londres y estábamos ansiosos por volver a alojarnos en el Apex. Estaba deseando volver a comer en el Lampery ahora que ha sido remodelado. Lamentablemente, nuestro camarero no entendía muy bien el inglés y nos trajo un par de aperitivos que realmente no pedimos, pero pensamos que eran gratuitos. También pensamos que el agua era gratuita, así que nos sorprendimos un poco cuando nos cobraron $ 10 por dos contenedores. Creo que fue más una barrera del idioma que otra cosa. De lo contrario, la comida era decente, el personal cortés y nos encantó el ambiente de nuestra noche aquí. Nos sorprendió la factura cuando llegó. Sin duda volveremos, solo veremos lo que se coloca en nuestra mesa y lo que estamos pagando por más.

7 of us came here for our team Christmas lunch. The food was good, especially the scallops. Slight confusion over the missing pigs in blankets, after asking for them three times and whether I wanted a blanket they arrived after we had finished. Staff were friendly but service was a little slow.

The Lampery is now one of my preferred dinner places during my regular trips to London. Food is great and the dinner atmosphere very cozy. The quality of the ingredients is also very good, which is the pre-requisite for any good dish. Service is excellent, from the guy that welcomes you at the door to the excellent service at the table from Vicky, who takes very good care of all customers.

My friend and I really enjoyed the food at the Lampery but both felt the portion size of the black olive gnocchi was really small considering the £18 cost. Initially we thought it was a starter size portion as it contained approximately 10 gnocchi with the smoked aubergine puree and parmesan crisp. We commented on the portion size to a staff member and were told that was how it got served. We shared a portion of hispi cabbage - again tasty but almost impossible to cut away from the stalk either because it wasn't cooked enough or the knives weren't sharp enough. Wasted about a third of it. The pear cheesecake was very tastyI liked the food very much but would think twice about dining there again given the cost for portion size.

What a venue!!! Planning our wedding with Anja, Razvan and the team was a fantastic process throughout that delivered beyond expectation. The Lampery's features needed no extra decoration; and we were lucky with the weather so that the bi-folding doors were open on the terrace exposing the amazing green foliage ceiling which was perfectly lit on our beautiful August summer wedding afternoon.

Ho cenato in questo ristorante con la mia famiglia e alcuni amici , eravamo ospiti presso L’ Apex hotel e abbiamo deciso , dopo una giornata molto impegnativa , di cenare in loco per comodità . Avevo già letto diverse recensioni ottime e quindi abbiamo deciso di provarlo ! Ci hanno servito del filetto ottimo così come il polpo ( tenerissimo ) e un ottimo vino .... il tutto accompagnato dalla squisitezza del maitre e del suo staff ( italiani ) ! Ci siamo sentiti davvero a casa .... abbiamo concluso la serata gustando degli ottimi cocktail presso l angolo bar del ristorante ! Che dire .... una selezione ottima di gin e whiskey.... siamo stati accontentati su tutto ! Quando tornerò a Londra sara sicuramente una tappa obbligata ! Bravi e complimenti ancora ....

We visited here last night, and it’s a lovely venue. Modern and welcoming decor greets you upon entrance. We planned to go for the set menu, but it wasn’t available and therefore the meal was pretty dear at £97 for two courses, for two people and one medium priced bottle of wine. They were really short staffed, food was ok, but not really worth the money. I wouldn’t return.

I was with a group of business colleagues for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the Lamprey. The location is extremely convenient to Tower Gateway (DLR) and Tower Hill (Tube). Nice decor with comfortable seats. I arrived first and was led to the bar for a restorative pint before my group arrived. Service was very attentive without being intrusive, and we didn't feel rushed. The food was very good and I really enjoyed my burger. I'd return, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family, friends, colleagues and clients.

We have had the pleasure of staying at the Apex Hotel City of London and enjoying daily breakfast at the Lampery on the ground floor. I can't think of any other resturant/cafe in the world where we have been treated like royalty. This is thanks to 2 wonderful staff members. Never have we felt so welcomed and part of a family as we do here. The Manager Robert is a class above the rest. He is friendly, extremely professional, understanding, efficient, accommodating and an absolute asset to The Lampery and Apex Hotels. The other is Vicky she has treated us with the utmost respect and catered for our every whim without uttering a word, is extremely friendly, happy and provides service so unique i truly believe we may never experience this again. The true sign of an exceptional individual. Both employees are a credit to the Lampery and Apex Hotels. On a side note i would like to congratulate The Lampery on serving London's best Buttermilk Pancakes. I understand that this is a huge call but seriously they have to be experienced to be believed. Well done The Lampery and Apex Hotels City of London for your exceptional service and menu selection and quality ingredients. 10 out of 10.

The food was very good, but the service was sooooo slow. Took near to 3 hours for a regular two-course meal. Neverending waits every step of the way (to get the menu, to eventually order, to get each course of our food, to ask for drinks, to ask for the bill). Pity, as the food was good, the menu selection interesting and given the location prices were fair.

The food here is just impeccable. Every aspect of every dish, from looks to taste is pure perfection. It can get pretty pricy with the cocktails, but that’s to be expected with a hotel in London. The average cocktail price is £12. My first night eating here cost €168.83 ($212.25 USD). However if you book your table with Disco Eat (discoeat.co.uk), you can save 40% off your bill... I don’t know why I didn’t do it, as I read it on here before I went ... would have saved me €67.53 ($84.9 USD)

This was our second visit to the Lampery and on both occasions we have enjoyed the set menu. The food is really good and we all thoroughly enjoyed all the courses . It was a Sunday, so I'm not sure if there are less staff, but service was very sluggish and slow. Individually all the staff were very welcoming and kind, but considering that there weren't many in it was sadly very slow. Also outside there was a couple using the bar area engaged in a long and aggressive argument which was a bit disconcerting because it went on for most of the meal. Did feel that it needed some intervention, particularly when some punches were thrown. Overall though I would recommend lampery for the food and location. Sadly on this occasion the sliding doors were closed, but on a summer evening it makes a great atmosphere of outside in.

The service was great, very attentive when required, without any desire to push us out in order to welcome in the next sitting. A great benefit of the Lampery is that you are not hemmed in between other tables; there is space to enjoy your own conversations rather than trying to speak over neighbouring ones. One member of the staff, Simone Venezia, was just outstanding. He was always very friendly and made suggestions for wine to go along with the meal. He was very efficient and had a great attitude.

We ate here as a large family group.The staff were very accommodating as we had a last minute change in numbers, but they managed to fit us all in. As it was the weekend of the marathon there was a special dish and the runner with us was served ahead of the group when we asked. Everyone was happy with their meal . The restaurant and the bar are and spacious. A good place to meet up.

My boyfriend and I were looking to have a celebratory meal in London and saw the reviews and decided to give this place a try. We booked a table at 7:30pm Saturday night and the place was dead. Maybe two other places in the restaurant. Staff were fine, with the exception of one man who felt it necessary to passive aggressively tell another member of staff off in front of us both. The food was nice. Our total bill (including just under £20 service charge) was £160 for the two of us. That was two starters, two mains and 3 sides plus 4 alcoholic drinks and 2 bottles of water - pricing is fairly reasonable for London. However I still wouldn’t go back. It was fine.

Saturday night the place was totally empty (7:30pm). Some staff were lovely but unfortunately some were also rude to/about other members of staff in front of our table. Food and cocktails were fair considering it’s london but the total lack of atmosphere was the biggest pitfall.

It was really nice but it seems that their service should be improved. The last food, dessert was very slow to arrive. One of staff said to us they upset our desserts. It can&#039;t be help but we had to be waiting for over a hour. In addition, they made a mistake again as for our bill. Some drinks and foods were charged twice. These things made us disappointed although ambience and foods were brilliant. Hope it could be getting better for future customers.

We had a table booked for 12 people at 12.30. It was 13.20 before I got a drink. The barman was waitering our table )or the waiter was bar tendering not sure which )as well as doing other drinks behind the bar. Very disappointed to not get a peach bellini (no peach puree available)We didn't get asked what we wanted to eat until 13.25 at which time we didn't bother with the starters we had picked and just went into the mains. Again we waited, at 14.10 the food starting arriving, two of our party had to be back in the office for 14.30 so they had to woof their food down. I am not sure I have ever experienced such awful and inadequate service. Its a real shame because the food when it did eventually arrive was delicious.

We walked in, were greeted very warmly and shown to a lovely table, with a sofa and just next to the fully open front (open since it was a sunny day), overlooking a rare patch of City grass at Seething Lane Gardens. It was a pleasure to sit in comfort, whilst gaining a little sunshine. The setting is very attractive, with a roof of fake foliage (a description which probably doesn’t sell it as well as it should) and natural light.

This is the first time we have been to the Lampery since the refurbishment and I have to say we were blown away! What an incredible experience. We were so impressed by the friendly waiting staff who were particularly attentive throughout. I ordered the Grilled Octopus to start which was cooked to absolute perfection, followed by a truly delicious smokey tasting beef wellington which I shared. We could tell there was complete pride in the food that they served and we got to meet Marcelo, the head chef to compliment him on one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Our waiter saw to it that we had the perfect wines to compliment the meal. We were so impressed and will definitely be back! Big thank you to all the staff! Highly recommended!!!

Nice restaurant, good choice of food and spacious for a group dinner. Staff were service focus and friendly, food was tasty and portion sizes were ok. One observation to the management is to slow down the refill of glasses, it doesn&#039;t make sense to refill glasses that just have been refilled and not even touched. This made is feel that there was too much focus on drinks volume instead of customer needs.

Came here for a business lunch, thinking that it might be quieter than some places more popular for such affairs. We learned that there is a reason it might not feature higher on more people's luncheon destinations - you've got to set aside a very long lunch break to ensure you get fed. We only wanted 2 courses and weren't dawdling, but we needed nearly 2 hours. We notified them early in the delay that we had a deadline, which led to false promises of duration of upcoming delay. Their solution to our displeasure was to offer a taster plate of desserts. This seemed an odd approach to take with regard to people needing to get back to a meeting - to offer a third course. It would have been more appropriate to address the bill or to offer a house bottle of wine since we had finished our bottles by the time mains arrived.

We went to the Lampery for set menu and free flowing prosecco at £42 for my friends birthday. There were 6 of us. The burger was delicious and desert was nice also. The ambience is chilled and romantic, right next to the four seasons hotel in Tower Hill so beautiful location. However, there was no free flowing prosecco. For what we spent all 6 of us, we probably ended up having 3 glasses of wine each in 90 minutes which was not as good as other places I have been to. The place was not busy so it was a bit of a shock to us as to why we had very limited prosecco.

I spent a little over two weeks around the staff at The Lampery and they were some of the most welcoming, thoughtful people I have ever come across. I spent every breakfast with them and a handful of dinners as well. All the recommendations they made for cocktails, food and desserts were truly incredible. This was also during the winter holidays which typically tend to be a lot more hectic, and they even remembered my birthday as well during all the chaos :)

The first time for me in this beautiful location. I was there with my partner to celebrate the new year and I must say that it was a great choice. I was advised I should have added it to the special requirements field or additional comments. As a result for our Christmas lunch there was not turkey available or one of the starters. We were offered an alternative set menu but by this time the whole experience had put us of. We had a starter and main. To be fair we were brought some aranci balls as a gesture of goodwill, however it was too little too late and we left rather underwhelmed and disappointed that a festive lunch was not forthcoming. Shame as actually it seemed like a nice place and food we had was tasty. The service at times was also quite slow.

Food was bad, dry and highly over priced. Too loud music and chaotically moving waiters. They aren&#039;t serving and listening customers. The bill and drinks need to be ordered twice and there was too much charged things, extra water and kids menu included desserts but not on our bill. Not recommending to anyone. We were in London on holiday over Christmas day and decided to book a table for our family of 5. We were promptly seated and the restaurant was very nice and festive looking. They had Christmas poppers for us which was a nice, fun touch. While the food was good, I felt it was a bit overpriced (55 euro for an appetizer, main dish (with plenty of shared sides) and dessert. The biggest issues were 1) the service was awful. We were one of the first tables for dinner, so it was not due to being overcrowded. We ordered a glass of wine with our foie gras and were almost done eating before the wine arrived. We then ordered a second glass of wine to go with our main meal, and again, were done eating before the wine arrived. Our food would have gone cold had we waited. 2) It was unbearably hot. All 5 of us literally had sweat dripping down our backs, and we were definitely NOT overdressed for the time of year. In fact, two of my kids just had a single layer dress shirt on.
