Came here on a Saturday night in February, table booked for 9pm. There were only 1 or 2 other tables occupied and they were finishing up. The staff could not have made it any clearer they wanted us to be quick and to go. Asking what we wanted as soon as we sat down, blatantly looking at the clock on the wall when we ordered things. I think we were out of there by 9.45ish. Not much more than a McDonald's experience - but not McDonald's prices. Food itself was decent enough, had better in London but that service experience left a bad feeling and we are unlikely to return. Which is shame as I love Japanese food. A new one has opened in Beaconsfield New Town though so we'll give that a go. Note to the restaurant - don't take bookings for 9pm on a Saturday if you don't want to be there.

The food here is exceptionally good, in particular the sushi is very fresh and delicious. The food arrives very promptly and is some of the best that I have had. I would recommend getting all of the desserts if you have room for it also. The vegetarian options are quite extensive and you do not feel as though you have a small selection, even on the sushi.

Went for first time. Rushed to order, starters came within 2 minutes, Mains served while still eating mains. Cleared my partners plate over me while I was still eating . All felt rushed , whole meal served and cleared in 20 minutes , felt like we couldn’t relax , food was nice but not fantastic for price. They need to work on making people feel welcome and relaxed not like they need to serve everyone as quick as they can to free up tables. Very bad service. Feel like wasted money on what should have been a relaxing evening with nice food !!!

Achimi is fantastic, authentic food as always and delicious. I love the sushi here, dad is a fan of the sashimi as he's not so keen on cold rice. For mains we had the Aromatic sushi roll for £13.80, Chirashi Don (comes with Miso soup) for £15.80 and Black Cod in Miso for £22.80. The takoyaki were great as usual, and previously I have very much enjoyed a Salmon Set that looks like a boat for £16.80. The teas are in large cups and the green tea in particular is nice. And I had to get the Japanese Rice Cake with red bean for £4.00. There were a couple families with young kids in at the Saturday lunchtime we went, as it's quiet it seems a good way to test their restaurant etiquette. At dinner when we have been there are no children usually. The doorways are quite narrow so I would say this is not accessible for a wheelchair user.

I’d given it zero star if there was an option. Not only the food was not authentic, the service was appalling. We spent just under £200 on dinner this evening (two mums with four young children) and we barely touched any of our food. We asked if there was vinegar added in the yaki udon, one lady said yes as it was the ‘special’ recipe from the house chef and when I asked again before leaving another lady said no they used 100% of tonkatsu sauce. I pointed out that we didn’t touch the udon after the first bite as it tasted almost off since it was way too sour and even though I’m not Japanese we’ve been to Japan many times and never had tonkatsu sauce in any yaki udon. The lady was adamant that they never had any complaint from their customers so I suggested perhaps it would be worthwhile going forward stating that their yaki udon contains tonkatsu sauce to avoid any confusion. Instead of being apologetic as most restaurants would, the lady went on arguing that ‘even’ their Chinese customers never complained. I thought it was a Japanese restaurant so why would I want opinions from any Chinese customers? We then realised that the owner and waiting staff were Chinese and the fact that they didn’t even ask why we didn’t eat most of the food goes to show the kind of customer service they provide.

Had dinner with my friend and our four young children. If you are happy to pay for poor version of Yo! sushi or Wagamama then you will like it here. When we questioned about the sour taste in our yaki udon, instead of offering us another one, the lady ranted on about how they ‘only’ use ‘100% of tonkatsu sauce’? Apart from untouched yaki udon, we barely touched other dishes we ordered (normally kids would clean the plates of tempura which we ordered two portions as well as 2 yasai tempura. The batter was so thick that they weren’t sure if they ordered tempura batter instead). The miso soups also tasted funny as if they added vinegar in it. The edamame were soggy and over cooked, the avocado on dragon rolls were brown. The customer service was atrocious and the food was far from being authentic. Definitely won’t be going back!

Disappointed that bento boxes only offered mon-thur. Automatically adding a 10% service charge to a single diner's order is a bit cheeky, especially when the card machine prompts for additional discretional tipping. Food was okay.

What a RIP OFF, visited this restaurant for the first time. After reading the reviews it sounded really good. What a major disappointment. We went for dinner 2 adults and 3 children. The service was flat line, we ordered a mixture of dishes as we wanted to try a bit of everything. When we asked for small bowels the look on the waitress face, it was like I had asked for the impossible. The Sushi I would give 5 out of 10 the main dishes 1 out of 10. Service 0 out of 10. Whilst we were there I was observing customers coming in to collect their takeaways and the 2 common questions being asked was 1. You paying cash or card? 2. Do you need a receipt. I’ve seen this sort of behaviour before and know why it’s done. I wasn’t surprised that when I asked for the bill I was asked the same 2 questions but my response was card and yes I want a receipt. I was shocked that we were charged £6.80 for 4 mini veg spring rolls but on the receipt it showed as Duck spring rolls. When I asked the waitress she told me Duck spring rolls are the same price as the veg spring rolls. I asked her to correct it on the receipt she said she can’t and it doesn’t matter as it’s the same price. I also noticed she added the service charge without me seeing or asking me. Very underhanded behaviour and in my eyes Fudging the books and ripping customers off. I will not be returning to this restaurant and would strongly recommend that if you do visit or order food make sure you get your receipt so you know you’re being charged correctly. Really disappointed in the whole experience.

I've had sushi a few times here now and it never disappoints the staff and owner are very friendly and the food is fresh and authentic Japanese A rare gem in the middle of a place that mostly consists of just pubs and fancy pubs My favourite dish here that I strongly recommend is their Salmon Teriyaki special roll This is a sushi recipe you don't find much as it is time consuming and challenging to make but Achimi in Beaconsfield makes it perfectly The challenge of this dish is that the sushi chef first has to prepare the sushi roll partially and then blowtorch the roll without burning the rice or seaweed and only partially cooking the salmon in the process and then proceed to finish the dressing and garnishing of the roll. But the end result is a very tasty recipe when done right But all their other sushi dishes are really great too and I've also had some of their cooked starters such as the tempura dishes and these were good too

Food was bland and tasteless. the waitress then had the nerve to add service charge at the end of the meal . Warm welcome from the staff and taken to our table without much waiting around for a 18.45 booking. Ordered sushi and sides and they arrived quickly without any delays. Also pleased to note that the hot food was hot and fresh whilst the sushi seemed fresh without any browning on the avocado or dryness on the rice. The only slight let down was that some items weren't available on the menu, maybe worth asking when booking. Would definitely come again to try some of their main dishes.

We’ve ordered from here before, I’ve never been wowed by the food in general, however I do love the dragon rolls. Unfortunately our most recent order lacked taste and my husband said the soba noddles and meat was very low quality (which I have to agree with). I’ve also noticed similar comments below and am wondering whether the source of the ingredients have changed. I’ve always found the service abrupt and a little forgetful but 1-1 the lady who runs it is friendly and we like to support local businesses. However after todays meal and how expensive the food is here versus similar restaurants I think it may be the last time we visit. Such a shame as there aren’t many Japanese places around here and it’s local, but equally for the expense it does need to consistently deliver a certain standard of food and the restaurant itself could do with a lick of paint / updating.

I've been to achimi several times in the past and have recommended this restaurant to so many people. However I will NEVER return here after the treatment I received during my last visit. We ordered sushi, tempura and octopus balls - all were lovely. But the 'soba noodles' we ordered as a main were utterly disgusting. They were made from the cheapest looking noodles possible and seemed to be drenched in an odd tasting sweet and sour sauce (which is not mentioned on the menu) - also I've had the noodles here before and loved them so obviously they are now cutting corners. I didnt eat the noodles and the waitress asked if I wanted something else so I asked for the prawn fried rice- a safe bet I thought. The prawns came on the side of the rice and were drowning in a sweet teriyaki sauce, which I thought was strange but the taste was OK. However the rice was SO salty that it was inedible. And I'm the kind of person to add salt to everything ! I did not eat the rice and had eaten only one of the weird prawns. When the waitress came with our bill we were charged for both the inedible noodles and inedible rice. My partner asked if we could have them removed as they were not to our liking and the waitress told us that they would remove the noodles but not the rice. Because the rice was our replacement dish for the one we didn't like, even though it was also inedible. When we asked to instead remove the service charge in that case - she disappeared to go and ask. The head chef then came to our table to personally shout at me like a toddler throwing a tantrum and I had to ask him to please stop shouting at me. He then said to me that I should of not eaten the noodles ( which I didnt) and then I should of asked for something else (which I did!). When I said I'd been here before and enjoyed the food he got extremely angry and shouted that he's been there 15 years and the food has never changed. He also said that it's impossible to make food to suit everyone's taste. I really don't know what to say but I could make better food at home. In the end they didn't charge us for the noodles and removed the service charge- but I don't understand why we paid for the rice or why the chef had to come and shout at me. We happily paid for the food we ate and enjoyed, but after such treatment I will never go back. Don't waste your money here unless you want to be shouted at by a mouthy rude man child and then overcharged for the privilege.

I went to Achimi for the very first time in April to satisfy a strong sushi craving. Before going I had looked at the menu several time (online) and wondered at the prices (at the time I thought this was because they had a captive audience). As well as the sushi I ordered some calamari tempura. Verdict: the sushi was absolutely delicious. The portions are actually bigger than London. What I mean is a piece of Achimi nigiri is larger than nigiri in a lot of the London sushi restaurants. It’s not a complaint at all. I was content with that but it made sense why their sushi box was £15-16 whilst in London it would cost £9-10. I found the calamari ok but a tad greasy and I had to add salt (I prefer adding salt than it being too salty). All in all, I was very happy with my first trip to Achimi: good service and really good sushi. I will definitely be going back!

I placed an order for approximately £50 for myself and my husband as an anniversary dinner. I had expected good quality with exceptional food. However, I was greatly disappointed. When considering the food the terms adequate and mediocre spring to mind. I would not recommend nor would I visit again.

We had a really enjoyable lunch here as a family. Service was fine, sushi was fresh, salmon melted in mouth, delicious garlic rice, crispy tempura.... will be back!

We were booked to sit at the Teppenyaki table, which we were told was broken just before we arrived. We were shown to a normal table and we ordered our drinks and food. The drinks and food arrived at completely different times, and four of us had finished our main courses, whilst two of our party had not had theirs at all. The food was delicious but the service was poor. The waiting staff were nice, but were not helped by the kitchen staffs poor timing.

Best Japanese food I’ve ever had. We have the tuna sushi set and the teriyaki salmon in a box, the fish was incredibly fresh, delicious and melt-on-the- tongue. Super attentive service and they obviously do tepanyiaki as well. The decor is very simple, but the food more than makes up for it. Family friendly, and very reasonably priced.

Some of the food may be disturbing (RAW SUSHI!!!) but I promise you its all delicious, my favourite item was katsu curry, they even gave me extra chicken for free!I'd recommend the spicy chicken sushi, chicken or beef box and especially the spicy edamame (my whole family loves these) oh and before I forget there are these cool chicken nugget type things called chicken Karaage which I must tell you the truth about... They are incredible! I'd call them the incredible nugget-hulks.

This is a great little Japanese restaurant in Beaconsfield. Quick service, food is good and as expected for the pricepoint. There is a Teppanyaki bar as well but that chef is not always there so def. book in advance. Parking could be challenging as this town gets very busy. But eventually you will find free street parking.

My friend and I visited for lunch to celebrate my birthday. We found the staff very friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We were helped to make choices from the menu and really enjoyed the chicken and beef bento. The ice cream deserts were exquisite. We had trouble parking and the restaurant even helped us to park in their space!

My husband and I used to come here a lot and even celebrated our engagement here a few years ago, we always found it enjoyable and a good place to go. Fast forward to coming back here with family to celebrate a birthday and it’s no longer the amazing experience it used to be.

Been here a couple of times in the last couple of months. It's not bad but not great either, certainly when compared to some of the better London or Manchester Japanese/Tepenyaki restaurants and I had a better meal in Yo Sushi! recently.

Came here 2 years ago with my other half for the teppanyaki table and absoloutely loved it. Food was great and chef at the teppenyaki table was very entertaining. We decided to try it again for our birthdays on 9th June but was very disappointed. Staff were awful. Did not get greeted upon arrival, were given menus but after 20 minutes had to call someone over to take a drinks order (it wasn't busy at the time, there were 2 or 3 a la Carte tables and the staff were very slowly moving around but not making eye contact with a single diner).

Achimi does pretty good sushi but it’s quite pricey and not a particularly special ambience to the restaurant. Their set menu that is cooked in front of you on hot plates is much better value and very filling!

This lovely little restaurant has been a favourite of my wife and I for years. It is a lovely family run establishment that delivers some of the most delicious sushi in the area. A gentle, no frills experience that is all about the food.

I have eaten here a fair bit now, and i must say that i really enjoy the food however a common theme that has cropped up each and every time I visit is that the orders are always wrong, no matter the means by which we communicate them.

Came here for a very early dinner, basically just as they were opening up. Party of 4 and so plenty of chance to get a whole host of starters and main courses including Teppanyaki food. All very tasty but we couldn't finish everything - next time we need to be a bit more sensible!

I've eaten here a few times (always hits the spot). Took my girlfriend who is a sushi-fiend and she loved it. Not being a meat eater she was spoilt for choice and the mushroom Teriyaki (which I also tried) was amazing. Attentive service without being overbearing and the decor is simple but pleasing. My girlfriend can't wait to return.

A great menu choice, polite and efficient staff. Table service was first class and the Miso soup, Hot Saki complemented the meal superbly. Good value and will visit again soon. If you wish to impress your family & friends a must experience.

The food was nice and fresh but to be honest only average. The decor of the restaurant could certainly be updated, it was almost a greasy cafe style. The service is good and the sushi and dumplings nice enough. We didn’t have the mains and on a Friday night disappointed to see no chef at the teppanyaki grill. I was looking forward to that experience

Saturday lunch in one of the few Japanese restaurants in the area just before our football team lost again We were pleased with the food and the experience of choosing from a lengthy menu.Presentation and service were O.K. and the place gave the impression of having progressed since its opening a few years ago.
