Academy Restaurant in Liverpool

Went to the academy as family of 3 for the evening set menu, many years since we have been but once again the food and services were exceptional. Thank you very much to everyone. Won't be as long until we return ,many thanks for a wonderful meal.Alan ,Ann,and Rikki Vidamour.

I forgot how amazing this place is and it definately wont be so long before our next visit it was exceptional. As soon as we arrived our table was ready and it was 5* from start to finish. The team work like clock work we are very lucky to have such a place in Liverpool and it should be on everyones list to support our budding chefs/someliers and waiting staff of the future. The food, wine and service was exceptional all co-ordinated by Carol who backs her young team with finesse.

2nd visit here, food is amazing every course is presented so well and tastes as good as it looks! I don’t normally eat ribs but couldn’t resist and ended up eating 4! Soup was the best absolutely spot on, every dish was seasoned to perfection. Drinks are reasonably priced, my G&T was served just right. Was so good we made sure we booked again before we left, but I am tempted to go back for the same menu again it was that tasty

Loved the fact if staff didn’t know answer to a query they went and asked, all staff where lovely and very helpful and had smiles on their faces!Drinks where served very quickly and we didn’t need to ask as they noticed when we where getting to the end of a drink! Food was gorgeous, every course as nice as the last. There was not one course that was not tasty, we even walked away with a little box of truffles such a lovely touch. The tutor was on hand for the staff at all times and I loved the fact she came to ask for feedback. We only went last night and I am looking for the next available date to book in we truly had a great evening and I can’t wait to return, thank you to all the team

Fabulous evening with friends. We had the xmas tasting menu, beautiful food in a lovely setting. Very attentive service and all the students serving were did a great job. We were given home made chocoles boxed on the way out. I've just has a peek - they look amazing. Highly recommended.

Had the 7 course taster menu and every course was superb. Waited on by students (with some degree of learning difficulty) and they were brilliant. Couldn't fault anything. The food was very good and we will go back again. A true hidden gem in Liverpool

It has been a while, but we where greeted like long lost family.This restaurant is part of Liverpool City College. People learn here. Learn to cook.Learn the art of service.Everyone has to learn.The food is outstanding, the service to us is great..engage with the young people. Smiles cost nothing.We have booked again as we realise how good this place is and to witness young people grow and mature is why we used to come so often.So to the two reviewers who are critical of service, get a life, and carry your keyboard warrior tactics elsewhere. Visité ayer con un grupo para una comida anual de Navidad. Tuve una mala experiencia anterior aquí, pero elegí volver por tiempo con amigos en lugar de la experiencia. La comida era excelente, incluso si se producía muy lentamente. Food was great, brilliant concept and would have considered returning for this, however the staff are rude and make you feel uncomfortable. I’m all for having a laugh but they make it at your expense. Not happy

What a gem - great food and the service is discreet but exceĺlent. Menu varied and VERY reasonably priced. Only criticism is the lighting - very bright.

We visited this restaurant for the first time and were astounded by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. The young people serving were professional, friendly and very attentive. The food was amazing and the addition of an amuse bouche was a lovely surprise. The whole evening was competitively priced and well worth it. Please go along and support these young boys and girls who are learning their trade and achieving a very high standard.

Sólo tenía una fabulosa cena de degustación de 7 platos por mi cumpleaños. La comida era increíble, un servicio excelente y un personal encantador. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Asistí a un evento que había sido organizado por un estudiante como parte de su curso. Visitamos el viernes noche Academia mi marido y yo fuimos recibidos por nuestra camarera por la noche Imogen una chica agradable amable, tenía una selección de 2 menús degustación uno en £20 y el otro de 26 libras que elija la segunda opción 6 campos - qué experiencia y placer. Cada campo dieron la noche fuimos mejor como en la comida era excepcional, caliente y bien presentada. Felicitaciones al chef. Esta no es nuestra primera visita y sin duda no será la última- sigan el buen trabajo.

Este restaurante es realmente un tesoro escondido! Mi amigo reservó para el almuerzo, que nunca había oído antes. Era bastante difícil de encontrar, tuvimos que llamar para las direcciones. Pero sin duda era la pena la espera. La comida era deliciosa y muy razonable. El servicio era excelente. Yo te recomiendo una visita.

Dined here with a group yesterday for Christmas lunch. we had pre-ordered but there was still a degree of confusion over the meal service. Starter and soup tasty. served well in a fairly unobtrusive manner. Main course of Pork fillet was disappointing. Seriously overlooked and dry rendering it virtually inedible. Colleagues who had chosen alternatives all seemed satisfied with their choices so perhaps I was unlucky. Good range of desserts but then let down by the mince pies....very pale and pastry on the undercooked side and oh why???? Are they served directly onto the table cloth? Yes they are in foil tins but for pities sake these are students who are supposed to be learning a standard! Step up tutors and teach them correctly! Generally was a nice meal but have eaten in a rival hotel school in Bootle which ( in my opinion) is streets ahead. Value wise though is good if you can forgive the faux pas.

Our office party dinner out in the academy was once again a wonderful experience.The service is very good. Staff both inside the kitchen and on the front are students learning the hospitality trade, and gaining college qualifications. Although they may not have learned all about the food and drinks on offer they are eager to find out more for you. Our group had a pre-booked Christmas menu, with each course containing a delicious array of food well delivered. This is fine dining by some of the future masters of the kitchen.I would also recommend here for couples or family groups.

I came here with a colleague about a week ago. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff and students who took our coats. I thought this was a nice touch. The waitress took us to our table and presented us with the menus. There was a very nice atmosphere and the decor in the restaurant itself is of the highest quality. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive and when it did it was exceptional. The students who provide this service are a credit to themselves and to the college. They were friendly and very professional. I would definitely recommend visiting here for a meal. The prices are affordable but the quality of food was absolutely brilliant. It's very easy to put 5 star ratings for every aspect on TripAdvisor but I genuinely feel it's well deserved. Thank you for providing excellent service.

New year and new students at the Academy. It's nice to be back at the college, to see students who are willing to learn/ develop their craft skills. Food was spot on well portioned, balanced, seasoned prices were value. The management at the Duke Street campus is a credit to this industry and the quality of teaching is very high standard. Looking forward to coming back soon hopefully for the L3 Event/ Street market.

First experience with family and shall not be the last. Food amazing and extremley resonably priced , Table setting and dinnerware very well thought out, complimenting the outstanding service of the team . A true credit to the Acedemy!!

This was my favourite meal yet at the Academy, excellent food, really on the button, along with lovely service under the very watchful eye of the lecturer.Six of us dined and all enjoyed a variety of dishes. My sea bass starter was a stunner and one of our party thought that the risotto was the best she had ever tasted. My lamb and shepards pie was such a tasty dish and the lamb was cooked to perfection.We were all fairly full but did manage 2 wonderful apple deserts between us.Hope to be back soon.

Visited with 3 friends, booked in advance. It was the best afternoon tea we have had, and we have been to numerous locations. Beautifully presented, good variety of sandwiches. The cakes were heavenly, four to choose from plus scone with jam and cream. Tea pots were refilled half way through, hot water too was available. It was a lovely experience, we will be back in September. Thank you to Chris and the students, well done.

We visited here at Christmas for their Christmas menu, and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant was busy and yet everything was fantastic.We went again yesterday for lunch, and the only thing we were disappointed with was that we were the only four people in there!! If you are looking for excellent food in nice surroundings, then DO NOT OVERLOOK this restaurant. Although it is part of the catering college, they are defiantly on par, if not better than a lot of places I've eaten in, here and abroad.There was not one aspect of our meal or service that I could fault. Had there have been, I would be quick to say.Between the four of us, we had 2x Tandori chicken starter, 1x Vegetable purée soup, and a ham and leek tartlet.This was followed by 2x roast lamb with all the trimmings, salmon salad, and a mouth watering mushroom and asparagus risotto.There was hardly room for desert, but we managed 2x rhubarb crumble and custard, a strawberry sherry trifle and a raspberry and chocolate torte. It's a shame that I don't live in Liverpool anymore, as this would no doubt be a regular restaurant for us.If you like good food,and are a believer in good education then visit here. The standards of these students will not have them working in your 'run of the mill chain restaurants' but hopefully in nice restaurants where people appreciate good service and good food.Last but not least, it's excellent value for money..

I along with my wife have eaten here twice since New Year.As you will see, we are regulars here.The last time we attended was on a Wednesday evening, where the students where under the guidance of three of the regions top chefs.This was a resounding success, the food excellent as ever and the service as always with a smile.Other restaurants should look long and hard at this place and learn, just as these students are. I do now look at other restaurants and compare them to The Academy.The service and food quality that The Academy offers is superior to most places in Liverpool...

We attended a gourmet dinner which was hosted by the catering college in conjunction with the three premier establishments in the area; 60, The Art School and The Lawns at Thornton Hall. The food and service was first class and the trainees should be very proud. Well done

Visited Christmas 2014 and it was amazing, this year not quite as welcoming, food variety not quite as good - lacked Christmas touches I'm afraid. Would still come back as hope it's just a blip as great value and a good find.

Don't be deceived into thinking that because this is part of the catering college you'll be sitting in the school canteen eating overcooked cabbage and processed food! Everything is cooked from fresh and the menu, whilst small, is diverse. The décor is clean and elegant and the staff, though students, are attentive and try their level best to make your dining experience a pleasant one!

We have a tradition of visiting the Academy restaurant for either Lunch or Dinner at Christmas time. We always enjoy our visit and the meal is alway of an exceptional standard. This year was no exception and we had a wonderful welcome from Chris and the team. Our 5 course meal was served very well by the trainee staff. Our whole party is looking forward to January when we can book to return for the new term menu.

The food was really tasty and also good sized portions. The service was excellent and we were well looked after all. We all had a great night!

Yes. back again at the best restaurant in Liverpool.Some new faces as it is a college and so there are new students.The one thing that does not change is the standard of the food. Freshly cooked and the best I have tasted in Liverpool.Yes you have to book, and if you want to return, make a reservation whilst you are there. We have already, so see you soon !!

Tried to have lunch but we had not booked and it was full. We went into the canteen instead. We each had something different, salmon, chicken and pork chop. They were all delish, plenty of vegetables, prices cheap.

The Academy Catering College in association with Paul Askew's Art School restaurant produced from a marquee pop up kitchen in a Marquee restaurant. Firstly, the service a nod kichen brigade are all students at the Academy. Under the tutelage of Executive Chef Ian Jaundoo and Art restaurant Paul Askew, we had without doubt the best meal this year in the North West.I might also mention the pleasure we had watching our server Sam, a young lady who had just finished training and was working in The Art Restaurant as a thoughtly professional, who was a joy to watch her skill and commitment in ensuring that her guest were serve to a very high standard, which has not been my experience to see for many years. My compliments to Sam, her trainers and hopefully see more committed young people like her. She set the standard and will go on to do great things.

This venue is run by Liverpool community college, staff & students. The restaurant itself is lovely and had a good ambiance. The food was really tasty and good sized portions. The service was excellent and we were well looked after all night. It's great value in money. I would visit again.

This restaurant is a hidden gem hiding on Tradewind Sq. The team and leadership team at the college is fantastic the learners are L1 & 2 students studying either their VRQ/NVQ course. The menu has a range of dishes on starters, mains and desserts to suit anyone taste buds. I had the Fish finger buttie its flavoursome, meaty and well balanced with the garnishes.Looking foward to coming back in September seeing new and progression students!

The quality of the food and service that The Academy offer is belly far the best in Liverpool. Sadly to others I compare everything to this restaurant. It has been a pleasure to visit this year and see the progression . And so to next year...

We took a visiting friend from Dublin and ordered the Tasting menu which was unbelievable - excellant menu, brilliant taste - wonderful service - cannot recommend it enough

We went before going to see The Producers on the Empire and where in a bit of a rush . After seeing the show we wished we had spent more time at the Academy . The food and service was impeccable . I had sole as a main which was superior to the same dish I had on Queen Mary 2 a fortnight ago . Well done .

My parter brought me here for our anniversary. I wasn't sure what to expect at first as its ran by Liverpool community college but I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant itself was lovely and had a nice ambiance. The food was really tasty and we had good sized portions. The service was excellent and we were well looked after all night. Not to mention it's great value in money. I would visit again.

My wife and I went to this restaurant in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool city centre last night for an anniversary meal.I had intended trying here several times before, but they only open during college term times and on the other occasions hadn't been open whenever I'd tried. So we were looking forward to the experience - and we weren't disappointed!We both had the taster menu (excellent value with 6 courses for £27.50). Each and every dish was well presented, beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The lobster ravioli dish was my personal favourite, while my wife thought that the raspberry mille-feuille dessert was brilliant.We will definitely be returning in the near future and will probably bring others to enjoy "The Academy". Well done to everyone involved! .

Went last week for lunch after reading good things on tip advisor.We found it a bit hard to find and had to ask someone but got there in the end. It did not have a very big menu 3 or 4 things for each course. The food we did have was very nicely presented,cooked well and tasted really nice. All for a very good price. Not a lot of atmosphere as there were only 3 other tables taken. Yes we would go again but maybe try dinner next time.

I've been to this place twice now and always enjoyed my experience. They were short staffed this time around and there were delays in ordering but only a minor issue. The waiters did not know hardly anything about the courses and often had to go ask a more senior member of staff which I am guessing is part of the learning curve/student thing. It was quite sweet in a way and didn't really detract from the meal as I know what I am walking into to some extent. They honoured the taste card which was unexpected and made up for any minor issues. The food was presented wonderfully and was very tasty- not my consistent opinion across all courses, the pork was a little dry and disappointing but the rice pudding was amazing. WouldGo again. Can't guarantee consistency but a fun time!

What can I say. We have been there on two occasions. They had a special night on so we rang up and as we thought booked. My booking was taken and I have the time and date loved on my phone. We arrived on time to be told by the manager that we had no booking and he could not fit us in. He basically said they never make a mistake with bookings. As I said did he think we would just turn up considering we knew they were books up. He took my phone number but never called. After two great meals it only takes one thing to stop me going back that has happened. Please make sure you get a booking reference and do not trust some one telling you your booking has been confirmed over the phone

We visited the restaurant after a gap of over a year and the standard continues to impress. We selected the tasting menu. The six course menu was well presented and well planned with flavours from course to course complementing each other. Service was attentive and professional. This restaurant is well worth seeking out.

Small intermit Restaraunt , with excellent quality food and service Value for money , I would give it 5 starsUp there in my top 10 .

My wife and I were thinking of somewhere for a pre-anniversary meal. The thought of this restaurant came up, so I booked it. I am now reluctant to score it as it should be, because I want to be able to visit often without it being booked up! It was an excellent meal and service, at a knock down price. We had eaten at a Simon Rogan restaurant last week, and preferred this! At less than half the price!Great to see youngsters learning hands on. We will definitely be back soon.

My husband and I returned to th Academy for the third time. We were with a group of friends. The food was excellent and the students were very professional. We all agreed we would return again and recommend the Academy to other friends.

To celebrate my 70th birthday with family and friends, we chose the Academy. After consultation with Chris to fine tune the menu, including separate choices for the two five year olds, the evening was more than we had hoped. Service, as ever, was impeccable and discrete, and the food delicious - the level of skill never fails to amaze me.The icing on the cake - literally - was "The Cake", the design having been left in the very capable hands of the patisserie students. It was a Chockywockydoodah sensation, complete with sparklers and a chorus of Happy Birthday from the staff. Perfect memories.This was the second visit for my husband and myself in 48 hours (we did the themed Pudding Club evening on Wednesday). It was bonkers, innovative and fun, and when it next features at the Academy, don't miss it.

I have visited this restaurants on 4 occasions firstly because my daughter was studying to become a chef and felt I had to show moral support and I was very pleasantly surprised by the excellent quality of the food and also the service. Considering you are being cooked for and served by students it was better than some highly rated restaurants that I have visited. We do eat out a lot and I always have very high expectations and the Academy Restaurant didn't fail to please. Well done to all the tutors and students.

I would visit the Academy again, I went with 3 of my friends and we all agreed on how fabulous it was. Would highly recommend you give it a try.

I took my girlfriend to the Academy restaurant after seeing some fantastic reviews on Tripadvisor. People were particularly enthused about the tasting menu so I booked us a table, with the intention of ordering this for the two of us.Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that it was not possible to order the tasting menu that night. We were left with just a handful of choices from the main menu.Great value, helpful and friendly staff and lovely food. However, we were disapointed that we were not able to order the tasting menu and the lack of choice because of this.

Absolutely fantastic meal with unobtrusive, professional service, polite and friendly. Students involved all deserve to do well, a credit to the college and the city. This was our first visit but we fully intend to return

pleasant surroundings and ambience. the team worked together to make our dining experience very pleasurable.the food was delicious and well presented we will return. excellent value for money.

Visited with my husband, the food, serve and atmostpher were excellent. We are planning to return with friends shortly. Would highly recommend.

I booked a table at this venue some time ago for the five course meal with wine for my Boyfriends Birthday. Each portion that was served was of very small amounts placed in the middle of very large plates even the main part which was also served with a average size bowl of vegetables the wine was acceptable, the food is cooked by professional chefs and trainee chefs, the food is served to you by trainee waiters and waitresses who you can feel are a little nervous around you. Expensive for the two of us and although the food was nicely cooked seasoned and presented I do not reckon we will be returning in the near future.

I have visited the Academy with a group of friends on several occasions and always had lovely food and service. This time it was a very mixed day the food was nicely presented but we had to wait quite a while before being served and the veg was hard and cold, Most of the students worked hard although some of the jokes whilst being waited on became a bit much. Will probably give it a few months before trying again.

The Acadamy restaurant is an amazing hidden gem. We went for a meal having read the reviews on here and hoped that it lived up to the reviews and we weren't disappointed. From the moment we arrived the service was first class, the atmosphere nice and relaxed and the food (the tasting menu) was delicious and all for an amazing price. Our waiter Josh was polite and attentive and the maitre d' was very helpful. Considering this restaurant is run by students and the food cooked by students as well it easily gives many far more expensive restaurants a run for their money. So if someone says they are taking you to college for dinner in Liverpool you will have a great experience.

We returned once again.Yes we are now considered to be 'part of the furniture' by some here , and I take that as a complement to the restaurant and staff here.A Friday night delight was enjoyed by me and my wife, as we have the tasting menu.Each course was a delight, and different.Presentation was spot on as well.This was rounded off by a sharing dessert platter as it was Valentines Weekend, a great way to end.I have said it before and will say it again , but it is brilliant to see the students develop and grow in confidence during the year. There are some shining lights and some who are starting to sparkle amongst the serving staff.The Chef and students in the kitchen do stay hidden, that is until the food comes out !!!

Simpy...top marks! The food was excellent and the young team did exceptionally well to make our evening a surprisingly good experience. Four of us were in play on Thursday night and we had a lovely (and very good value) time...Thanks to all concerned. ps My belly pork was 'up there' with some of the best pork dishes I've ever had.

The only reason the restaurant is not number one, is due to when it is open, but this is the reason why is it is the best.As part of The City Of Liverpool College, it only opens during term time, and on school days.It is a pleasure and privilege to eat here and witness the development of the your students.We ate on Friday the 12th December, their Christmas menu.Totally delicious. The best Christmas meal I have ever had.The turkey was delicious. Could not fault it.You can call me biased towards this place as I love it, but I am a proud Scouser and this has been part of our City Centre for years. The new home it has is a perfect setting for a perfect meal. Again well done to all.

my husband I decided we would have a cosy pre-Christmas treat dinner - just the two us and having seen the reviews on Trip Advisor, and loving good food, we booked into the Academy. We went straight from work and were the first to arrive at 6pm. The menu was billed as being 4 courses (one of those a fish course which everyone had) but with the coffee/tea and petit fours, it was really a 5 course menu – all for £25pp – unbelievable. I can’t praise this place enough. As it is a trainee restaurant, we were expecting some glitches/waiting time … but we were very pleasantly surprised. The waiting staff (year 2 trainee chefs) were so helpful and pleasant and the food is to die for. I wish I had taken photos now, as the presentation was beautiful. Sometimes in restaurants, the food looks wonderful, but the flavour lets it down, but thankfully this wasn’t the case at the Academy. The restaurant was chocker-block last night, so the staff were kept very busy, and coped admirably. Phil & I usually only have 2 courses when we eat out (which are often mediocre and can cost around £70 for the 2 of us) so it was heavenly to have not just one, but 3 mini desserts - we were struggling by the end of the meal but didn’t want to leave a morsel. Everything was so good, you even wanted to lick the plate to savour every last flavour (we didn’t of course!!)Now we’ve found this place, we will definitely be going back. Forget pretentious restaurants that charge the earth, and have arrogant staff – you need to get yourselves here. Thanks to all the staff (and especially the chefs who did such a wonderful job).

So today (02/12/14) I went for a meal in fact it was a Christmas meal, I had ordered the turkey and let me tell you it was wonderful, I had never in my entire life tasted a piece of meat as nice and tasty as this, don't let me get started on the workers, they where all cheer full giving me a great environment, I have never been treated like this in any restaurant they looked after me ensuring me everything was okay and also the Christmas environment was so sweet, Christmas music playing even a few girls wore Christmas head bands witch was quit festive if you ask me every one was cheer full even if they where under pressure with the busyness also the food was served in a nice set of time not waiting too long I loved it and I would strongly recommend this to anyone well done and I cant wait to come back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chose this restaurant having read the reviews on Tripadvisor. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we walked through the door. The meal was well presented and delicious (the chefs were third year students):the service was attentive and courteous (students only just starting their second year), and overseen by tutor Chris who glided around the room making sure everything was OK. The wine was extremely good and the overall cost of the meal was very reasonable. We were only visiting Liverpool for a few days and were glad we had checked out the venue beforehand as it off the main road.

On Wednesday night we decided to go to this wonderful restaurant to celebrate my Granddaughter's birthday, and we thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. From the moment you enter the restaurant you appreciate the quality of service that you are going to receive; attentive courteous and well mannered. Christine the Restaurant Manager and her assistants could not do enough for you to make your dining experience more pleasant.The menu was excellent the salmon was just melting with flavours and the lamb loin was just finger licking. The desserts that accompanied the hand made chocolates, petit fours and turkish delights where the crown to such princely dining experience. Congratulations and thank you very much to the Chef's that made such experience, unforgettable. We got hooked and will return.

Recently spent a weekend in Liverpool, for the Allergy Free From show. Guided by Trip Advisor, booked this pleasant little restaurant, albeit not easy to find because it's tucked away off Duke Street.Don't be put off, managed to obtain a table on a Friday night, just before the half term break.Upon arrival warmly welcomed and seated immediately, the restaurant had a nice buzz. When booking didn't know that it was a themed Irish 4 course meal, albeit a limited choice, but I must admit the meal far exceeded expectations and must be described as excellent.The whole experience was very enjoyable and I will definitely return. The young staff were very attentive and a mention must be made for young Jack, a second year student who was extremely polite and obviously enjoyed his role, part of this must be down to his tutors who also deserve special praise.

We were visiting Liverpool for 2 days, so only had 1 night to eat out. Having read the reviews on Tripadvisor I decided to book the Acadamy Restaurant. The meal was quite simply outstanding. We had a 3 course meal a bottle of wine & still had change out of £40 !!!! The service was first class, in fact I couldn't find one fault. 10/10 all round. Pity we don't live nearer.

I miss this place so much when they close for summer and am so happy they re opened with another stunning menu. Can't get enough of it !

I travelled with my girlfriend to Liverpool for the weekend and did the usual Tripadvisor restaurant hunt. I decided on this restaurant and was extremely impressed by it all. It is run by the local college and the chefs are 3rd year students with the floor waiters being 2nd year students. We were greeted at the door by a young lady named Chenee who was very professional for somebody so young. Her level of service was very attentitive throughout our evening but knew when to serve our table and when not to. Although the food quality was very good I do feel her high level of service helped towards making our evening so enjoyable. The menu has a choice of about 4 or 5 suggestions for starters,main and desserts and it is met with alot of enthusiasm and I'm sure this restaurant can only get better. A great idea which is helped by a professional maitre-d who oversees the running. I'm sure there are others on the floor who do the same so if I have missed you out then my apoligises. Good luck to Chenee for the future as I'm sure she will do extremely well in her voacation in life. I can only recommend this restaurant very highly.

This is a university restaurant and the students have only done a few weeks training, but you wouldnt know it this is a hidden gem and we will be going again soon. Food is fantastic and the hosting is the same, would recommend this to every one. Check out there christmas menue we will be going it looks delicious. The only critisim is its not easy to find!!

Visiting Liverpool for a conference a colleague booked the Academy based on Trip advisor reviews, we weren't to be disappointed. Set up as a semi-formal dinning room the real star of the show was the food. I had a the ballotine of Salmon, the Lamb and the brioche. The dishes were accomplished, well presented and full of flavour. The Lamb for me, the star of the show. Accompanying wine was not only exceptional but very reasonably priced. The food was exceptionally priced.Our waiter, although clearly a little inexperienced, was friendly, hard working and attentive. In London or even my hometown Glasgow, I'd expect to pay double or triple the price for food and wine of this quality. If in Liverpool, well worth a visit.

We booked here after reading the reviews on tripadvisor.The service was exceptional, the table was spotless and the ambience in the restaurant was perfect.We both ordered 3 courses each which were of a very high standard and well worth the £20 each.The students are doing a great job, and we would not hesitate to return on our next visit to liverpool.

First time at the Academy, had a complet ball. Excellent food, careful and personal service. Both the students and their teachers were a joy to chat with and both kitchen and front of house performed marvellously.

Once again a fantastic night out out the Academy restaurant. Only the second service of a new year and it was wonderful. The food was as always to an excellent standard on par with any of the 'top' local restaurants. The service was welcoming, friendly and polite. If you have reservations because its a 'training' restaurant I can only suggest you quickly look past this and try it out.

This was my first visit to the academy, but my wife has been previously, so I was looking forward to visiting, due to her enthusiasm on previous visits. I was amazed when I was told that the young people serving us were 1st year students, and even more astonished when I was told that students were preparing and cooking our meals.from the moment we entered to the moment we left we were treated very professionally and the young people were courteous and friendly throughout, and could not have worked any harder. The staff who were looking after the young people were very supportive, and although they were supervising the youngsters, it was done in a supportive constructive manner, which was reassuring....and was being taken on board by the youngsters. The food was amazing, and well presented and the waiters were very knowledgeable about the food they were serving and also very enthusiastic about it. all our food was lovely and tasty, but a special mention to my Beef Ragout, which was the best meal I can remember eating for many years, and this includes the Bhuna I had at Liverpool's Yukti which was lovely, but not quite as nice as my Beef Ragout. My lemon posset was a joy to eat, and i am not usually a big dessert eater, but wow! was I glad I had one on this occasion. And all this cost just £11.95 for a fantastic 3 course meal. congratulations and well done to all concerned, and I am already looking forward to our next visit.

We had the pleasure of dining here Thursday evening. The quality & presentation of the food on the tasting menu was wonderful & each course was perfect. We were well looked after by the staff especially Tom. Can't wait to go back again next term!!

Because this is a training restaurant you tend to get nervous for the staff as they are nervous themselves. That being said the food is very good and the attention excellent. Just had lunch and will definitely be going back for dinner. Value for money is also top class. Long may they continue.

So once again I review , what to me has to be the best food and service in the City of Liverpool.Its part of the City of Liverpool College, and this is where young people go to learn.I have been twice since my last review, and YES, it is that good.Chris Noone is the restaurant manager who 'schools' the young people in the art of silver service.He is always around to point out the correct way of serving.The food is a delight. Cooked fresh to order. Ox cheek is marvellous, along with the apple crumble soufflé.As this is a college , we have witnessed the way the young people, under Chris's tuition, have grown in confidence and blossomed into confident young people who know and understand what they are doing. It has been a privilege for me , my wife and friends to witness this , and this restaurant can count us as loyal supporters.The sad thing is , that it is a college, it will be closing for the summer holidays and the last service is 20th June , it then re-opens in September / October.

Guests of a friend, we arrived not knowing anything about this restaurant. The quality of service and the food on offer were a credit to the young people involved. An absolute privilege to be a guest of this establishment. Tremendous.

This place lived up to its expectations (trip advisor reviews)) and far beyond!!!! The hake was to die for and this was the first day of the new menu !! Ideal for family meal or large groups who are not to rowdy !! Staff are brilliant slightly nervous as they are training - to be expected!!! Save room for deserts exceptional!!! Apple soufflé amazing ;))) loved it !!!

Certainly worth the effort to find, and just a short walk from the Liverpool 1 area..The restaurant is lovely, with a very modern feel, and tables beautifully laid out.I loved the menu, non pretentious and was spoilt for choice.The bread is wonderful and baked fresh in the college. We were delighted with all three courses, particularly the baked Pollock, thai style, not to mention the classic sticky toffee pudding, and custard!! Brilliant.The young students are learning their trade, and can't do enough for you, and we loved praising and encouraging them.We will certainly go again the next time visiting Liverpool.

My partner had been trying to make me go here for a while now but I was a bit put off by the idea of havinf student cook and run the restaurant but I was most definitely wrong.The restaurant is beautiful and romantic with very well presented staff and an amazing menu. We had last season menu and the food was one of the finest I've eaten. Everying was so tasty, very well presented and just wonderful to try.We are going back soon to try the new menu - I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Really excellent meal-very willing staff. A bit of a walk to get to from town centre but worth it. Excellent value for money. Restaurant was quiet on the night we visited but liked everything about it.

YummyThe staff are all learning their trade and they serve with enthusiasm and are engaging, it helps if you engage with them also. They are overseen in a very professional way and help is always around. One of the best overall dining experiences in Liverpool. Keep it up !!

Wow, what a lovely experience. First night of the new summer menu and they have nailed it. Starters of duck confit rolls where outstanding, monk fish main equally as good and finished off with berry parfait for me but the star of the night was my other halves apple crumble soufflé. Where are going back ASAP just so I can have one it was Devine. Well done to all of the staff they are a real credit.

Had a very enjoyable evening meal at the Academy restaurant. The food was faultless and the waiters attentive and professional. They managed to accommodate one of our party who is unable to eat gluten without any fuss and made our evening a special one.
