Absolutely Starving in Southwark

Why on a very slow Friday lunch, as today 11.11.22 do I get served a pulled pork dish that is cold. Does no one check the temperature. Don’t have time and shouldn’t have to waste time complaining and re ordering. Used to be so good.

Scoperto per caso nella camminata da London Bridge a Tower Bridge, un locale che sa da italianità (e molto altro) senza stereotipi o campanilismi di maniera. Il menù self va dalle ottime paste (speciale quella al forno) alle carni più Brit. Tutto molto buono. Dopodiché grande scelta di dolci in bella vista. Sembra di essere nella sala colazioni di un bell'hotel e l'atmosfera è davvero ben curata.

Siamo entrate in cerca di un bagno e di una presa per il caricabatterie, e abbiamo trovato un locale stupendo. lo staff è adorabile, il cibo sembra appena sfornato e tutto è pulito. 100% raccomandato li amo

My regular lunch spot and the food is always good. The staff are great particularly Anne-Marie who always serve me when I go in. Would highly recommend for takeaway or to eat in.

I regularly get lunch here and the food is always good. They are always busy and the staff are very friendly, particularly Anne-Marie. It is good to have hot options as well as sandwiches etc. Excellent salad bar. Would highly recommend.

Had a very tasty wrap! The spicy chicken meat was very tender and flavored. Really happy with my choice. P.S. if you’re choosing the extra spicy sauce, it’s hot!! Loving it :)

Whether you’re in the mood for a full English, a bacon baguette or a traybake, swing by Absolutely Starving. The coffees were excellent and the staff were helpful, happily cutting the fat off the bacon and cooking it crispy, making the perfect bacon baguette. We couldn’t manage cakes after such a yummy breakfast so instead bought some to have later on. They were fab!

I got the distinct feeling that the staff here cannot handle work with a hangover. Or work at all. They move at a snail’s pace and should probably not be in the hospitality industry as they cannot hide their hatred for customers or each other.

Staff is not bothered to make an effort, they seemed upset, having a bad day. Pastries are in the open right in front of the entrance inviting everyone to cough on them. It is a shame because the place has great potential.

Great find! Four of us stopped for coffee and cake. The cakes were really fresh and tasted amazing. It was really inexpensive compared to the big American chain coffee shop nearby. It had loads of character in the restaurant and we enjoyed our Pitt stop...

Paid £6.90 for a salt beef ciabatta that has almost no meat. £7 for a roll with some mustard and a gherkin. Borough Market actually does a better sandwich for cheaper, with actual meat. Never going again.

Just across the road from London Bridge station makes this place very good to stop for coffee or lunch. Over all nice selection of foods on offer from cakes to wraps and baguettes to order. some hot pasta type of dishes also available

I really don't like to be negative but this place looked so inviting from outside and delivered a big disappointment. Tea in a plastic cup with a plastic lid and 2 cup sleeves was well matched to a plastic plate and cutlery (all disposable). The food was average quality but the service was poor. A big mistake being enticed by what looked like a high class delicatessen.

I sometimes stop in here before meetings and whilst the food is pretty good, I always forget what an absolute nightmare the queueing system is. There doesn't seem to be any indication as to where you are supposed to order food and pay, so you essentially walk into a crowd of people unsure as to whether they are waiting to order or waiting for food/coffee. On my last visit, there were at least 4 people behind the food area, but nobody at the till or the coffee machine. Waiting 10 mins for a coffee and a bacon roll is pretty inconvenient, especially when they have a McDonald's just across the road that can sort the same order in a fraction of the time. I'm sure the standard of their food will keep customers coming back, but I'm afraid I won't be returning

I bought a breakfast bap with two fillings for around £4.50. Look at the picture, it is quite clearly a baguette and not a bap. Also the guy was insistent there was butter and ketchup in it at the back. Quite clearly there was none. Terrible, I won't be coming back.

I regularly stop off for breakfast here scrambled egg is great but please, please can you get a quicker toasting machine it is so slow! Also just put a sign up saying “Order food here” and another saying “Pay here”. Having said all that! I love the feel of the place and staff seem eager to please, if a bit too easily confused at times.

Good food and as I live nearby I return from time to time. But every time I’m really annoyed by the service - the staff struggle and clearly have had very little training. Getting orders wrong, making customers wait unnecessarily and ringing things up incorrectly is not on. You could be amazing with a bit of effort - instead you are mediocre!

Hicimos varias visitas ya que el café y los pasteles estaban deliciosos. Los sándwiches estaban recién hechos y también eran encantadores.

He tenido un almuerzo muy agradable aquí, así que cuando pasamos a media mañana del sábado decidimos probar el desayuno. Gran error! Esto fue horrible de una manera verdaderamente heroica.

Estuve aquí el día de San Valentín este año y escribí una buena crítica porque la comida, el personal y el ambiente funky de este lugar es simplemente perfecto. Tuve otro sándwich de salchicha y era justo lo que necesitaba. Me encanta escuchar las vistas! Y la comida. Increíble. No puedo esperar para volver a visitar.

They make a good cup of coffee and the cakes and food look good but I didn't try any. The interior is delightful and the seating areas are quite quirky as they are set on different levels, here there and everywhere.

The breakfast was good and tasty but took ages to serve despite few customers. The plastic cutlery made it hard to eat. The amount of mouse traps on the way to the loo was disconcerting and the thick layers of dust above the windows on the higher ledges was seriously off putting. Had planned on going back for cake later but after seeing the dust we decided not to. Cakes looked good but were completely exposed to the air.

Chocolate and cherry cake rather dry and it was mainly thin cherry jam in the filling with about 1 actual cherry so felt a bit ripped off for £4.20. Coffee mediocre but cheap. Service was friendly. Convenient for London Bridge Station.

Es la segunda vez que voy a este lugar, la primera vez solo para un café que estaba bien, pero la comida, bueno, la comida es absolutamente horrible.

I can’t eat the pasta mix rice they had so I had to have the salad. I was charged £7 compared to my friend who was charged 6 something and had chicken and the rice. I said can you atleast give me some extra sauce and the girl refused. The falafel was burnt and spoilt it tastes stale she was Kyra St rude so did not go back to her and had to just bin the box. My box was just half full compared to my friend. No respect for gluten free and vegetarians! Would never go back. Even the salad was so not fresh.

Nos topamos con Absolutely Starving mientras explorábamos el área alrededor de Shard and Queens Walk. Parecía ser muy popular entre la gente de negocios local y por una buena razón. Una amplia variedad de comida, caliente y fría, estaba disponible en forma de delicatessen y el servicio fue rápido. Es un gran lugar para tomar un almuerzo en el camino.

Nuestro primer desayuno en Londres! ¡Rápido! Gran café y toneladas de pasteles. MONTONES. Oh mi. . . ¡Un buen indicio de que los Britz aman sus dulces! Gran desayuno y otras selecciones para sándwiches. No hay muchos asientos, está enfrente del hospital, por lo que está hecho para llevar principalmente. No está mal ni el banco rompiendo en un apuro!

Working nearby gives me an opportunity to try their dishes again and again. They are my favourite joint for grabbing a quick but satisfying lunch or breakfast on some busy mornings. Koshari box with falafel is my favourite lunch option here, their soups are great too. I love their freshly baked cakes as well. Their veg breakfast box for £4.50 is such a great deal. Their staff sometime can be a bit grumpy but i wouldn't mind because i normally order a take away.

Looks vegan friendly, but the quality is just not there, the falafel are super dry ( see pic )

If you want to pick up a salad lunch or pop in for coffee and cake then this is the place. Can be very overcrowded as needs more floor space for seating but great for a quick coffee and snack.

There for brunch, manic, judging from the number of people , this is a very popular place. Great choice of food, a bit of a scrum to pay and find a seat. I would go again. Very close to London Bridge station.

Wow, everything here is homemade, vegan friendly and service. This cafe is right next to London Bridge Station. Coffee is amazing, tasty and the price is great. This is a lovely cafe, with great cakes and bakery food. Environmentally friendly too!

Found this place via a seasonal scheme promoting independent businesses. Was a bit concerned after reading some less than stellar reviews, but was spurred on by those that mentioned delicious cakes. I'm a bit fussy when it comes to cakes/pastries and most places leave me disappointed. (Why is it so hard to find good cake?)

Verá 2 precios en las etiquetas [TA = quitar, y EI = comer]. Si vas después de las 7 pm, todos los pasteles son a mitad de precio también! Consíguete una buena merienda y luego algo para la mañana. Este lugar solía ser excelente para mi almuerzo de sándwich, pero lamentablemente ya no puedo aceptar la pequeña cantidad de rellenos que colocan en los sándwiches y baps. Si tiene dos rellenos, reducirán la cantidad del primer llenado y luego le darán una pequeña cantidad del segundo. Esto estaría bien si no pagara más por un segundo llenado, pero hace 80 p extra y termina con menos en general.

Over £8 for a small breakfast, egg whites were clear and runny, bacon undercooked, and for £8 you get paper plates and plastic cutlery. Poor.

Sounds like healthy restaurant or bar food store, but the food wasnt really fresh as we had beef and potatoes and some salads. The olive oil was bit old and even salads were bit dry, hygiene wasnt the strongest side of this place.

If you’re in the area of the Shard or London Bridge station you need to go to Tooley Street and drop in here. Good choice of food for breakfast, great coronation chicken baguette. However it’s the cakes that are amazing. Too many to choose from. Devine white chocolate pie. So light and creamy. Worth the trip just for that

Arriving at London Bridge for the Bridge Theatre we like to have a quick bite to eat at this lovely sandwich shop which really is a food experience.We have finally settled on the salt beef sandwich as our lunch of choice.Generous portion of salt beef on rye, excellent spread of English mustard and a slice of gherkin ( could add a little more) -absolutely delicious.There is a large selection of salads, cakes and other hot meals.Very popular with the city boys some of whom treated the staff with total distain -we found the service professional & charming but then we interacted with the sandwich maker. A really nice place to have a wide selection of well prepared food a reasonable price.

Relativamente bastante caro, la comida es de buena calidad es, por desgracia, a expensas de un buen servicio. Elegimos el curry tailandés de pollo con arroz y encontramos un taburete cerca de la ventana. La comida en general era buena, pero la gran parte fue lo rápido que pudimos comer. Vale la pena una oportunidad si tienes prisa y en la zona.

We had breakfast at Absolutely Starving upon recommendation from hotel staff. The location is superb, near Tower Bridge and both the tube and national rail stations. The restaurant offers a large selection of fresh baked goods, coffees, juices and hot items including a full English breakfast. The quality and price of the food are excellent!

The only good point is that from 7pm onwards, the cakes (very good) are half priced - I remember I used to come here and had a chat with the nice guy at the till.

I walked in and I was fasting, and so I couldn't eat any meat or diary products, and this was the best place to go to! They make Absolutely Koshary which is a traditional Egyptian dish. In the dish, there is freshly made falafel, which I absolutely love and its made in such a way, that after eating 1, I couldn't stop eating it! If your healthy and want something that still tastes great, this is highly recommended! Alongside the hot food, they also make healthy sandwiches which are freshly made and perfect for those that love bread with their food and are on the go.

Coffee meeting with a croissant that tasted like pure butter. Devine. Odd concept as a store with groceries and coffee but location and service were excellent.

Nos topamos con este mientras esperábamos para ir al hospital chicos. Es un lugar increíble por dentro. Preciosas tartas personal podría ser un poco más amable, pero realmente es un lugar que probar. No hacer otra comida pero no hay tiempo suficiente para probar.

Muy cerca del London Bridge. Solo caminar unos minutos y encontrarás este paraíso de sabores. Precios muy baratos para ser London. Personal muy atento y que sabe aconsejarte para disfrutar de sus ofertas. Tomate un respiro, tomate un café o un té acompañado de sus múltiples opciones de comida, para reponer fuerzas y seguir trabajando o turisteando.

Tenía una tarta deliciosa y sentarse a comer. Tuve que poner el trozo de papel en una bolsa de celofán y con un tenedor y comer plástico. -el té té bolsita que era cerdos es conocido por una de plástico y que se puso en el papel habitual (alineada) llevar una taza con tapa plastuc. Cuando en la huella del negativo de plástico el personal me ignoraron. Hubiera sido gracioso si este no fue un grave problema actual. Tomó el questionannire/Formulario de comentarios, pero este un foro mejor.

Normalmente me marco de re-negatividad, sin embargo yo he tenido esta experiencia dos veces al día. Este lugar puede llegar a estar muy concurrida durante la mañana y almuerzo de la época, la comida está bien, pero realmente no merece la pena. El personal es extremadamente desagradable e incompetente. Me fui a tomar el desayuno, por favor, que alguien me diga cómo alguien puede conseguir un huevo frito y pan tostado marrón incorrecta? Finalmente después de 10 minutos, y ahora llega tarde al trabajo me fui con las manos vacías.

Oí hablar en medios sociales absolutamente hambrientos antes de encontrar la cafetería/cocina contador en sí. In Tooley Street, just across from London Bridge station, I was pleased to see they were open just after 9 on a Sunday morning. I enjoyed a nice latte here where there is also a café and deli/supermarket. It was pretty quiet that of a time of a Sunday but it seems like a good spot to stop if in the area.

La comida es bastante buena, en general muy sabroso y abundante, sin embargo, puede ser bastante caro para lo que es. Mi principal problema es el sistema prácticamente sin hacer cola inexistente - simplemente se reúnen en colas al azar y es prácticamente imposible distinguir cuál de las muchas colas en realidad es para servicio o pago, realmente me pone ir allí.

El lugar es muy lindo y bien ubicado frente a la estación de tren de London Bridge.

We went here today for the first time for coffee and cakes. The place was very quiet yet the man behind the counter didn't bother to look up as I stood there. I told him that I had noticed that the cakes and pastries were covered in flies. He did nothing about it . Then a second customer entered and saw the flies and he told the same man that there were flies on the cakes. Still nothing was done. I asked him if he was going to throw the cakes away and he said yes. We watched as he continued to sell the cakes. Then he covered them with plastic but they'd already been contaminated by the many flies. Ugh. A German couple at the next table bought a cake and they commented to me that it was bad to sell them like that. I agree. It's appalling. They should be covered .

I’ve not seen a place like this in the UK. I often visit New York and the deli culture there is strong. I popped in with a couple of friends on the way to the shard after a meeting. We weren’t going to eat, in fact we were looking to use the loo but I did grab a pastry on the way.

Dopo una visita al the shard ci siamo fermati per bere qualcosa di caldo, incredibile la bontà dei loro dolci in particolare la torta al cioccolato .. atmosfera calda e tranquilla per l afternoon tea !!!

Tuve que esperar cerca del puente de Londres por 2 1 / 2 horas recientemente y estaba encantado de descubrir esta joya de lugar. El personal era amable y servicial. Los tés de hierbas (excelente) barato (£1. 50), una gran selección de pasteles (resistí con dificultad) y una excelente comida. El personal era feliz para mí estar allí para beber té larga sólo así.
