Abshar in Croydon

Really poor value for money especially the mixed grill for 5 people which hardly has any meat given its almost £60 price tag. Don’t recommend and go elsewhere for your Persian fix

Excellent service, very friendly, professional and polite staff, amazing atmosphere, and there is no word to say about the food it was Wow. I ve been in many Persian restaurant in London however can’t compare Abshar with any of them, abshar is No 1 in London, 100% recommend to everyone. 👌👍

A Wonderful Dining Experience at Abshar Restaurant We had an incredible experience at Abshar Restaurant! The Kabab Koobideh was hands down the best we’ve ever had—perfectly seasoned, juicy, and truly traditional. We also tried the Abgoosht, which was so fresh and authentically prepared, capturing the true essence of this classic dish. To top it off, the saffron tea was simply delightful, rich in flavor, and tasted like real, high-quality saffron tea should. The service was exceptional; they made us feel so welcome and genuinely cared for throughout our visit. Every detail, from the food to the atmosphere, was spot on. We recommend Abshar to anyone who wants to try authentic Persian food and will definitely be returning soon!👌🥗😊😍

Portion sizes are small, very pricey. Didn’t have this problem under the previous ownership. Staff aren’t friendly either. No point increasing prices if you reduce portion sizes. Won’t be coming back again & would advise others to reconsider. Much better Persian restaurants out there. I would avoid this one completely.

Superb service! We did our Christmas Party with them. We were at least 20 people. We requested that each attendees would pay their own tab. I couldn't even imagine how they managed to take the order of 20 people separately. 🤩 They were the best! I had to give a £10 tip from myself for their excellent service.

Me and my work colleagues came for an early Christmas party about 20 of us. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating especially the 2 owners.Nothing was too difficult for them and allowed us to use our own music to have a little dance. It was a great evening thank you so much! Ahlam

What a blessing this lovely restaurant is for the Croydon food quarter in the South of the town. Proper middle Eastern cuisine, with excellent ingredients and detailed renditions of authentic Persian food. Good service, comprehensive drink menu to accompany your food in a beautifully decorated location. Reasonable prices for both foods and beverages. Authentic Persian food that makes a delicious alternative to the mainstream offerings elsewhere - endless bland burgers, chips, chicken, pizza. Take a trip to flavour country and you'll be hooked.

Had dinner here with a friend. Great service with helpful advise and the food (platter with minced lamb skewer and lamb and chicken skewer, served with rice) was wonderful.

Went to this place for birthday party, large group of us with kids. chef recommended their special platters from the menu (mixed kebab)feeding 5-6 persons regretted taking his word, Comparing the price to the food it was disappointing, half of platters filled with cold chicken wings and very little salads.

We went there on Monday and the portions were so generous that I found walking very challenging afterwards (I asked if I could just sleep there under the table and they said sure but I think they were relieved I did not take that literally) The staff were super friendly and very enthusiastic about the food - and quite rightly so! Everything was extremely rich in flavours and very pretty too. Looking forward to the next visit

I usually order for pick up or delivery and eat at home over a weekend. Went in for dinner in person for the first time last week, it was really wonderful! Getting the bread fresh out of the oven was definitely a plus! But having extra baba ganoush to eat later was missed bc I ate it all and got another one there and still had zero leftovers. The Barg is delicious, the koobideh is juicy, and the chicken is right! Plus they do zaresk polo rice!!! Plus they have sumac on the table!!! Thank you 🥹 I first got aquatinted to Persian food from a previous boss, his mom would cook us food and we’d eat at Woodland Hills Market in the San Fernando Valley so I was spoiled. THIS place holds up, reminds me of the authentic flavors I fell in love with and let me practice the little Farsi I know. All around would recommend!!

Been here about 8-10 times over the years. Food today was unreal. The lamb was extremely tender, chicken was great and bread with the houmous 👌🏻 defo recommend the Kebab Chenjeh (cubes of lamb)

Chanced upon this cute tucked away Persian spot for a Sunday lunch! Friend and I opted for the stews and rice. So hearty and tasty - okra was delicious. Recommended to husband and friend and they came back and tried the mixed grilled and loved it. Cocktails and mocktails were delicious and sweet but not too sweet! This place needs some more love! Customer service was top notch and loved the atmosphere and decor!

We had a mixture of side dishes and a wrap. Fine food. Fine service and friendly staff. As we were the only customers in the restaurant at lunch time, we were given a lot of attention. A return trip is on the menu for sure.

Went to this restaurant with a group from work and everything was a good standard from the food to the service. The restaurant generally opens at 2 on Wednesday and we needed to get there for 1. They agreed to have the Chef come earlier to support us and the service was amazing. Lovely experience and all around great. Great flavours.

The lamb meat kebab was tasteless and very very fatty. Not the usual standard. The aubergine dip was also quite tasteless this time. The grilled veggies were ok but literally just grilled. Overall, not the standard we expect from Abshar. This was a Deliveroo takeaway order.

We were there on New year’s eve for lunch a group of us, the food and service was brilliant and flawless, highly recommend, we will be coming back again and supporting our local Persian restaurant.

The restaurant has improved massively. Tender and succulent meat. Perfectly grilled and presented. The spinach stew was amazing, great depth spiked with fenugreek and fresh parsley. The only thing to be improved is if bread could be provided with starters as is norm in most Turkish restaurants. The service was wonderful, prompt and professional.

Presentation of food was good but there was a weird paraffin flavour coming from some of the grilled meats and even one of the aubergine dishes we ordered. Ruined the experience a little The yogurt drink was nice and the bread but a lot of the food lacked seasoning as well I'm giving 2 stars because of the paraffin flavour and lack of seasoning but if those are sorted out easily 4 stars

Abshar is a scrumptious super authentic Persian restaurant in the heart of Croydon and may l add the best by far! I was looking for a restaurant for my daughters 30th birthday and was introduced to this restaurant by a good friend. The minute l walked in Ali welcomed me & made me feel relaxed and from that moment l knew this was the right place to celebrate my daughter’s special birthday!! The food was oozing with authentic Persian flavours. The presentation was amazing, and the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, patient and allowed us to have karaoke into the early hours of the morning. Thank you to Ali, Arman Mahyar Ramin and all the staff at Abshar!!! You are the best 😍

I had a private birthday event at Abshars and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was great the drinks were reasonably priced and the staff and atmosphere were amazing! Thank you so much for making the night memorable and allowing us to sing karaoke out into the streets. We all had the best time and would come back again and again!

Booked Abshar to cater for a staff party on 30th September. The food was tasty, plentiful and a wide variety, catering for all dietary needs (meat eating, vegetarian and vegan). Compliments to the chef - the food arrived hot, was kept warm and Arman and his colleague who delivered, explained the dishes so we could label them correctly. Would highly recommend Abshar Croydon, who's catering service was second to none. Will definitely use them again.

The food is lovely, so flavorful. However I felt the quantity of meat, especially the size of the chicken on bone that comes with the 4 serving mixed grill could have been a bit more. I miss the kebabs being served on a bread. Loved eating that with juices from the kebabs being soaked in.
