Star Chippy in Croydon

Super fast delivery. Food arrived over 30 minutes before the expected time. The fish was and chips was lovely and hot. One large portion of chips served 3 people with left overs to spare. I have been using them for a while and would definitely recommend them.

I go in person to collect. I only buy cod and chips from here and it has always been great! Other fast food places that i visit in the locality have failed me when it came to fresh tasting cod and fat chips.

Really good , the fish had no skin on it which I prefer ,the batter was nice and well coated and was cooked perfectly. Chips were crisp and flavoursome. Definitely will buy again

Chips were dry and there wasn’t any proper chips just the ends , burger was dripping with fat

AVOID. Fish was over £8. Look at it, about as long as my fork! Overdone and thin. Also the burger I ordered had no cheese. When I called to complain the owner said I should have asked for cheese when I ordered the quarter pounder with CHEESE!?

Chips where awful very dried out Chicken wrap taste funny with watery mayo Savaloy was dried out Cod was good size but tasted terrible £25 wasted as no one could eat any of the food ordered Will not recommend

The saveloy was watery and tasted of nothing the chips had nothing on them, not even salt and vinegar. They sent salad which tasted old . Definitely will not order again

I honestly don’t know how people can deliver food looking like this. I did call up and complain and they brought new chips, unfortunately they were not much better than this lot. Not edible.

Large portion of fish and chips. Hot and tasty. Arrived in the time stated.

This food was dry. Cold and the amount of oil that came off the fish was ridiculous!! The oil made the packaging see through. The owner had the audacity to stand on my doorstep before giving me my food to tell me to leave a good review he even used my first name I felt very intimidated. Avoid at all costs I WANT MY MONEY BACK

People working there are very patient to understand my things to make it happen to me, they make a customize mix what I have ask for Iam happy with their output and food taste

Food was absolutely disgusting. Paid over £14 for pie & chips and received a tiny portion which got put into the bin due to being burnt and overcooked!! Food also arrived cold. Will not be ordering from here again.

Loads of chips, but fish was swimming in oil so all the batter peeled off when you took the fish out the wrapping. The batter was literally wet

Customer service is terrible ordered food and took 1,5 hours to arrive cold and soggy straight in the bin I wouldn’t recommend getting a delivery or ordering from them.

Was given some free lamb donna meat to try and it was amazing. Food was brilliant. Really enjoyed the meat and it had a really nice mint sauce to it. It was lovely

I ordered large cod but I have received the small cod. Just a bit disappointed.

The fish had lovely crispy light batter and the homemade tartar sauce was delicious…all arrived hot and ready to serve.

chips were horrible over cooked i actually think that was old chips that got recooked, fish was nice but not the best but no tartar sauce in bag when stated you get some. wouldn't order from here again. and food was delivered in the last few minutes of delivery time given so abit slow, food was warm ish.

Lovely fish all be it a tad small for a large cod … chips were tasty but sadly soggy and we did ask for extra crunchy chips , we ordered a curry sauce which after tasting we had to poor down the sink as it was extremely salty

Still harassing me 2 years after i asked to be removed from list. Food is BAD, dirty. dont eat there. I have asked them to take me off their call list but they wont after over 2 years Will NEVER EAT THERE. Rubbish junk food.

Usually love it here! This time the chips were cold and dry. Seemed like they’d been left over from earlier in the day. The rest was nice, but all of the chips were practically inedible :(

food went straight in the bin was absolutely dreadful. won't be ordering from here again. chips were days old like cardboard and the fish was pure greasy batter no actual fish inside. avoid this place.

Me and hubby seriously impressed with the well cooked fish meal yesterday. It arrived piping hot, portions were massive - we couldn't get through it all, so shared one and very much looking forward to 'part 2' To top it all, very, very tasty and not at all soggy or greasy! Worst fish and chips I’ve had in a while! The batter for the fish was spongey rather than crispy and flakey. The cod tasted like it wasn’t fresh, it was flakey but had a rubbery texture to it which is a tell tell sign it was frozen. The chips tasted freshly fried but the potatoes tasted cheap or old. They weren’t fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The chips at 5 guys are way better than this place. Please avoid this place and instead go to other fish & chip places

This is a great little chippy shop. We use to go here often on the way back from visiting someone nearby. There are very few chippies left in the surrounding area, especially those open until late. The staff here are friendly and everything is fresh and tasty. The chips are freshly fried. There is free parking outside.

didn't get any tartare sauce. bit disappointed that the buttered roll is just a burger bun. but decent portion sizes, potato wedges were lovely

why are your chips so hard and dry??? go buy a bag from glad fisheries up the road they know how to do it right. if you sort out your chop making you will make more money 💰

The fish was nice and freshly cooked, although the batter was a little bland. However, the chips were terrible (but generous portion) - they were dry and hard so I suspected they were either frozen or pre-packed fresh, not chipped on site. Disappointing for a "chip shop"

Just loads of ends and alot of green chips. Nearly warm. Late.

Order was missing items was told they would send out but it was delivered 30 minutes later. Food was not good at all chips looked and tasted like they had been over held and then recooked.sausages all greasy Ended up throwing it all away.

Chips were dry and their were so many I think they just wanted rid of them the buttered rolls were burger buns with seeds and some of it was hard although my dog didn’t moan when I gave it to him the jumbo sausage wasn’t what I’d call jumbo

Food was very poor. Burger tasted of the fuel use to light grill, chips were over cooked and chicken tasted soapy and sweet most of all the food went in the bin

Fish and Chicken Burger were OK but the chips were overcooked and hard. Couldn't eat the chips, they went in the bin. Ice cream was in good condition, so its not ALL bad. But to have the name "STAR chippy" and do mediocre chips that weren't worth it was disappointing. I paid a good price for the order; but they let me down. There's not a lot that can convince me otherwise. I got reminded to leave this HONEST review when I was surfing JE again. I won't be using "Star Chippy" again for the reasons mentioned. Thanks for the somewhat not great service...

Food was hot, but chips overcooked and had been kept warm far to long they were soggy and unpleasant, however scampi were very nice and burger so so not the best

Chips where well over cooked and hard

Chips are always refried even when I've asked for fresh chips. The majority turn up rock hard.

Very nice couldn’t complain if I tried everything was hot and fresh would order again good value for money with the portion size you get

Fish great, small chips too large and too high a percentage of small hard bits, the proper sized chips were excellent.

Food was dropped upon delivery (things happen and some stuff was packaged good so its fine) but rest of the food was cold. it then took 45mins to get replacement chips since the previous bag was open due to the drop.
