I went to AB,s today for a regular hot chocolate with soya milk but was appalled at the charge £3.75 when I queried this as cost on board was ,£2.75. I was told I had been charged for large and there was a 70 pence surcharge for soya milk. I protested but was only reimbursed the difference between regular and large. I didn't want to make a scene and it wasn't the ladies fault so I reluctantly paid the surcharge for my hot chocolate. It was lovely but certainly not worth the extra money. I have never been penalised for having soya or other plant milks in any other establishment. I would not recommend this place if you have dietary or allergies to dairy unless who I want to pay an exorbitant surcharge

Went in and bought breakfast and beans burnt my mouth and think coffee was a large and realised wasnt asked what size. The so called toast was done on one side and not on the other. four rounds of bread two omelette eggs? cold bacon and sausage.and beans in a coffee cup?not an all day breakfast as stated on the sign.then after tucking in found myself with a stomach ache so had to leave quickly to the toilet with my friend... hope like the one bloke said about surcharge Iwasnt as I only had a card on me. won't be going again..plus it took forever to cook.

Bought two pots of tea and a latte - service adequate but certainly not welcoming - tables dirty and please see how things were served in photo below - from a health and safety point of view this is just not on

Decided to take my son for a milkshake treat on a hot day. Board says £2.45 for an Ice cream milkshake and 12 flavours to choose from. Was offered just 4 basic flavours and 3 'biscuit options' but they had more icecreams available so I asked for a mint choc chip one and my son had oreo. I was told they would be a 'bit more' which I was Ok with. They then charged me £8 for the two drinks!! I paid feeling a bit confused but hey ho I hoped we were in for something special. Sadly not the drinks had barely any Ice cream in the were overly sloppy / milky. One was served in a nice plastic cup with a wide straw and the other in a coke cup with a narrow straw? Son said his oreo one tasted like soil so I swapped with him as it was a texture issue but even he said the mint one was bland. Really disappointing experience followed by an upset stomach about an hour after visiting. I passed back through ankerside to go home and our cups were still on the table and the milk to put in teas / coffees in a jug was still on the side. I dont think hygiene is top on the list and I think its awful there is no price list which made me feel ripped off especially when nothing on the board was remotely near £4 per drink! Never again.

Hygiene Rating of 3, Cheap Ingredients, Sour Milk.........If I'd had checked the Hygiene rating and the review I'd never have wasted our money here. Inedible, we had one mouthful of the food and one mouth full of the coffee....disgusting

Couldn’t see food hygiene rating sign. Needs cleaning, croissants bone dry !! Should be served soft and warm! Had practically finished our lunch by time daughters coffee was brought out. Waitresses family were served before people who were waiting. Notice they’ve disabled ratings/reviews on other websites. Will not come here again!

Nice coffee shop serving a range of snacks and drinks. The view over the castle grounds is lovely. Never struggle to get a table and have found the staff to be friendly and welcoming to families with small children.

Out of all the cafés in Tamworth town this one is by far the best. For a start it's cheaper and better than Costa. I've had food here before which has hit the spot but it's the cakes/muffins that really do this place justice. The coffee is better than most places too; a large mug as opposed to a cup. The hot chocolates are pretty special too. Situated in the shopping centre but next to the exit nearest to Castle grounds and offering a great view of Tamworth Castle, the castle lawn, bandstand and flowersbeds as well as the river. The staff are very pleasant too. An added bonus is that they do a loyalty card; after you've bought so many drinks you get a free one. Highly recommended.

As the title of this review says, this place is absolutely phenomenal, I've never had a bad experience and the staff are a friendly bunch too, always going out their way to be pleasant and nothing is too much hassle, one of the best cafe's in the town centre with the added bonus of being in the dead centre of Ankerside and easily accessible.

Walking through Ankerside with my good lady wife both of us were in total agreement we needed sustenance. We both settled on having a fry up and ordered it with 2 drinks. My 1st shock was for using the card there's a 50p surcharge which I thought had become extinct with the dinosaurs. However waiting for our drinks wasn't a long wait and me and my wife started chatting. Shortly afterwards we was called to say our breakfast was ready. My negative point about the breakfast is that the presentation of the food was that it looked atrocious but as my title said "never judge a book by its cover " and my positive point is that the breakfast was an absolute taste explosion of all the ingredients. The bacon I loved., the beans were warm and tasted like beans should be and finally the toast was cooked exactly how I like my toast cooked. Overall there's room for improvements and they need to get rid of the surcharge but while the food tastes good its a good starting base.

Very poor breakfast with cheap ingredients which was served lukewarm. I've since found out that this place only scores 2 on the food hygiene rating. Not good, won't be returning.

I was not asked if I wanted a medium or large sized coffee and the staff then put it through the till as a large, clearly to get more money out of me. My BLT was full of lettuce with barely any bacon which I found disgusting considering the price of it. I won't be visiting this cafe again.

Absolutely avoid this place...very rude staff. New manager has no people skills. Shouting at customers for no reason, her husband had to reign her in and tell her to stop it.

This what i was served after a 45 minute wait and £8. It was cold and hard, the egg looked like the chef had sat on it. The worst thing was i had to eat it because i was starving. A total disaster. Be
