Abingdon Barbecue in Blackpool

Been going here since I was a kid, best food shop in Blackpool hands down. Had the Chicken curry for the first time today and wow just wow the flavour and portion size was brilliant. Always get pies, sausage rolls and sandwiches from here and always brilliant! Fond memories over all the years absolutely brilliant place!

Food is alright but for some reason the staff seems to get basic orders wrong very often.

I haven't been here for awhile so I'm not entirely sure if anything has changed however I'd often buy the pasta bowls from here and they were honestly the best pasta bowls I've ever had! Their cooked meats are really lovely and tasty too

Mi esposa optó por un sanie de tocino y tomate mientras yo tenía el cerdo, relleno y crepitar. Ambos tenían mucho relleno y sabían increíble. Gran relación calidad-precio a menos de diez libras con una botella de coque en también. Ojalá hubieran hecho un pollo con papas fritas medio caliente porque podría haber demolido uno de los fríos.

An absolute hidden gem in Blackpool. A huge queue that goes doen quickly is always a good sign. The food looks mouthwatering and it lives up to it. Bacon and tomato sarnie and a hot pork sarnie hit the spot at a reasonable price. Just wish they done a half hot chicken and chips. That would have satisfied my stick thin ribs!🤣

Why do you advertise as open every Sunday? We have visited Blackpool several times in the last few months and Abingdon has been closed on every (Sunday) visit. Very disappointing.

Pasé a desayunar aquí el sábado. La comida era buena y el personal era rápido en servir también. Bastante barato también. Probablemente pague más por lo mismo en la mayoría de los cafés de la ciudad

I absolutely love this sandwich shop. Just wish it wasn't in the town centre as I dislike the centre, lol 😆 the sandwiches are so tasty and have plenty of choice.

Excelente gama de pasteles, pastas, carnes cocidas incluyendo pollo (entero, medio, muslos o pechuga) , jamón y panza de cerdo. Más barato que otros lugares alrededor de la costa de Fylde Un lado de la tienda hace esto, además de productos horneados. El otro lado hace comida para llevar a gran escala: sándwiches calientes / porras, bandejas de desayuno, patatas fritas, etc. ¡Se nota que es popular porque la gente estaba haciendo cola en la calle esta mañana! Mención especial para el pastoso ‘cornish’: realmente carnoso y sabroso, con una espiga de pimienta. Delicioso!

Food is always great from here however today I had a bad experience, as I was about to buy a full chicken someone else had got to it so instead I asked for 2 chicken halves with even worked out cheaper, however when I asked for this one of the members of staff were told to charge me for a full chicken which was unbelievable, why mark a price but charge customers more, I didn't say anything to the staff as I was appualed and just paid anyway but terrible service

Absolutely love this Gem, proper ham hocks, roasted chickens, savoury pastries all at a great price and taste wonderful, always plenty of customers awaiting to buy delicious treats, I will definitely be back on our next visit to Blackpool its a must for us and have to take some bits home on our last day, can highly recommend the ham hocks, proper old fashioned taste.

Great lunchtime barns or baguettes place Pork,Gammon or Turkey usually on at lunchtimes with all the trimmings Highly recommended

Had a couple of sausage and bacon batons for breakfast. Hot and tasty and very good value. All the hot food on show in the window and looks and smells so good. Always busy here so you know it’s good. Well worth a look as such a good variety of food on offer.

There is no need to say much about this place as it's a very well known place by locals! It's a must have on your next visit to Blackpool 👌

Oh my god, why haven't i found this before? Prices are cheap and the variety of food is amazing. Sandwiches, Salads, Pies and hot Chicken. Will go there again.

Food was best we’ve had in are 3 day stay sausages bacon gorgeous even got a chicken stuffing barm to take back Manchester on the train definitely be back and recommending uses

Purchased a Gammon and Stuffing sandwich on a large bap and what a sandwich too, it was like a meal in itself loads of gammon on and really tasty too, you have to get there really early though as they soon sell out both the pork and turkey had gone when we got there at 12.30, can recommend this place the sandwich prices are pretty reasonably priced.

This place is without doubt the best place to get some grub in Blackpool. I have been coming for years and I have yet to have a bad visit. It’s that good that I would eat here all the time if I lived in the town centre. Alas once a week will have to do.

I was born in Blackpool but moved away when I was 19. I’m in my fifties now. When I was a kid there was nothing like the smell of rotisserie chicken when walking past “The Chicken Shop” as everyone called it. Whenever I’m back visiting I get my breakfast here every day. £2.40 for a sausage butty with three sausages on it. Incredible value and first class quality. Big thanks to the staff who get up extra early and work hard to provide a valuable service.

Was first in the queue waiting for more than 5min while everyone behind me got served. The benefit of being at the front of the queue an being ignored was that I got to see how many flies are on and about the food.flies sat on the curry I was about to buy. Which I wouldn't of noticed if I got served quicker. I left after that .

Was really disappointed this time. I used to love the chicken curry and chips from here. However, today there was like 3 pieces of chicken and the rest was watery sauce. Historically the chicken curry was loaded with chunks of chicken. Gone right downhill. The chips were like they had been in the warmer for hours. All dry and tasteless. What a waste of £4:50. Won't be coming here again. I used to be a regular as well. I'll be telling my mates not to come as well.

For the cost I have never had anything like it. The freshly cooked and still warm Gammon, pork, or Turkey on a fresh bap is not of this world and will take you to a taste paradise. 😋 We love it, you should try it.

What a treasure! Had a little over an hour before my 11:51am train ride from Blackpool to London and thought I would grab a bite to eat after getting off the bus at Corporate St. Saw this place on Google Maps, but even without the tip, would likely have stopped in due to the wonderful smells as I was walking by. Quiet at first, this place quickly became full of hustle and bustle as work crews filed in for their meal break (must have been a 10:30am break). What a rush! Not having yet decided what to order, I watched and listened as a couple dozen folk filed through. The meals they ordered looked fantastic, from curry over chips to barms filled with delicious meats, I immediately had 6 or 7 options I couldn’t wait to try. Unfortunately, my stomach only would have room for one, even though a normal budget could have accommodated several. I decided to change up something I had heard earlier, and went with a large order of chips (with salt, no vinegar) and covering them in a pound worth of bbq chicken. It was fantastic, and the proportions were just right. Hard to imagine that the whole thing cost me less than £4. They didn’t forget to pack a fork with me for me to be able to enjoy this meal as I waited for my train. Would go back daily for a week if I lived there and think it would be somewhere I would go to at least 7-10 a month thereafter. Can’t beat the prices and variety and it was downright delicious.

Tasty, just tasty. We tried 6 different meats and some bread/pastry. The elder lady behind the counter who served us was patient and friendly, despite of our stumbling English and loads of hesitation . When asked for some apple sauce for the gammon (which was heavenly when oven-reheated, highly recommended ) she went away to fetch some but didn’t find any so she kindly offered a pot of sweet chili sauce instead (for free, and goes well with the gammon ). Lost one drumstick to seagulls (not very wise to even try to dine at the beach ifo those pirates lol) My partner even want to bag some deli meat to take back home despite the fact that he has gone there three times during our one-week stay in Blackpool, because nowhere alike can be found in the big expensive Manchester! Unfortunately they open late on Sunday and our train was early in morning Gonna miss ‘em!

Bread was very fresh and tasty, meat cooked perfectly and not dried out like at a commercial carvery, and the stuffing was gorgeous…almost like a sauce to the pint where you didn’t need a sauce with it! Was a very tasty for an afternoon snacky-snack! Will definitely recommend to all of our friends who visit! x x x

The quality of the food is second to none. Unfortunately the brown sauce they use is cheap and has a nasty floral after taste. It's such a shame that top notch sausage, bacon and fresh bread roll is ruined with low grade sauce. Please start using HP or Daddy's sauce and ditch the horrible cheap substitute brown sauce.

Had a fantastic sandwich at a very reasonable price from this establishment . but on walking past the place an hour or so later I seen a member of staff throwing a large tray of sausages bacon gammon all fit for human consumption straight in the bin outside the property of which a load of seagulls set upon this food could have been given to the needy absolutely outraged that someone could do this when there's that many people starving. shame on you I will never use this establishment again disgusting.

Wanted to try your chicken for Sunday lunch, drive from South shore, arrived at your shop at 13,35. Spent £3.00 parking.. shop was closed!! Not impressed AT ALL your website says open Sundays till 4pm, loat 3pound fir nothing thanks a bunch

I don't often post reviews but we went here as a family of 5.. 2 adults, 3 kids aged 13 to 6.. and there was something for us all. Staff were helpful and patient despite it been busy. Best gammon sandwich I've had in my life. If you're in Blackpool and want a cheaper alternative to eating in you must try this. Around 20 pound to feed us all and we got 2 gammon sandwiches, chicken nuggets, sausages and chips, chicken nuggets and spicy potatoes and an extra portion of spicy potatoes and 3 bottles of pop. Will be coming again.

What a find, this place has such a wide variety of good quality takeaway food.. from Full Breakfast Baguettes and Balms to Hand Cut warm Roast Meats, homemade Pies and Pastries, freshly baked bread.. even curry and chips and pastas.. Great Food at Great prices.. most Taxi drivers will point you here if your hungry in the daytime near the Winter Gardens. Its Busy always but service is rapid.

The food is spot on. HOWEVER if you have the displeasure of being served by the one with a ponytail in a cap (as mentioned in an earlier review) then you will NEVER go in there again regardless of how good the food is. Condescending, rude, talks right through you. It's her way or the highway. Highway it is then.

I visit this place once a week as a treat for my dinner at work. I always get the meat of the day sandwich. 9/10 it's bang on lovely. The staff are most of the time OK. But noticed last few visits they serve you with a I can't be bothered attitude. As if everything is an effort. It does make you feel slightly uncomfortable. So as of today I won't be going again . Shame really as its always busy.

Bad value for money and you get half of what you order. Ordered a sausage and bacon barm for my breakfast on the way to work. £2.50 gets you 1 sausage and 2 pieces of bacon, the sausage doesn't even cover a third of the barm so if you order this you're getting a bacon barm with a sliver of sausage. I rang up to complain to the manager who was rude on the phone and told me if I don't like it to shop elsewhere. Avoid the sausage + bacon barm if you expect more than a third of your barm to have sausage.

I had a large roast pork roll with all the trimmings. It was delicious. It gets very busy so try to be early if you want to avoid a queue.

Fantastic food, great pork barms and pork pies. Everything chicken is perfect, i like the spicy drumsticks. Very consistent. Prepare to queue but its worth it... strongly recommend

When I usually go to this shop, I have a meat pie. Always good! But today, I noticed a tall lady just picking up a pie by hand. Bearing in mind, she takes the money, this is a problem for me. I decided to have one, but if she served me I was going to tell her to use tongs. Anyway, a young girl with glasses served me and did everything by the book. I thanked her for using the tongs in the hope the unhygienic lady heard me. Maybe she has not been trained, but at least the manager/supervisor should overseer their staff. Plus, it makes you worry if she does this in full view, what happens behind the scenes. Also, after coronavirus, you would think everyone was conscious of cross contamination, Maybe she is a non-believer in scientific research. Who knows?

Been going in this shop longer than I can remember but today to my disappointment I baught a gammon shank £3.40 and spot in as always. But today I got tha gaming joint she just put it on the counter normally they used to be put in a carrier bag, not today. So I had to ask, I was charged 10p without her even telling me so I said oh I don't want the bag wouldn't mind but they are them dead thin white ones which split straight away anyway she said well why don't you go to Iceland and pay 30p for one which I replied because I'm not in Iceland I'm in hear. Whot a cow she was with a massive attitude oh and she slammed the 10p hard on the counter. Well if the boss is reading this she's in her middle 40s fair hair and ponytail. Next time I come there if she's still working there we won't be coming in again. Fuming to say the least. If I choose not to buy a bag it's my peogative

It's hard to explain how a bacon and egg barm can be superior to others, but this surely was. Staff friendly and efficient despite the morning rush. A bit like Diggle's, but fantastic.

I bought four pies from this establishment which were inedible.I spoke to the owner who was very abrupt and in no way offered me a refund of the £4.60 that I spent

Awesome as usually, always come here for baguettes and salad bowls, never have any complaints about the food, staff friendly, usually really busy but service is so quick.
