Popped in for a cup of tea and asked if we could sit in the garden and were told they thought all the tables were taken but we should have a look. There were two free tables both with remains of meals on them. Having been told it was "at table" service outside we waited.....and waited. After 10 mins I went in to see staff chatting and asked if anyone was coming to clear the table and take our order. The girl behind the counter said "oh! We'll be with you when we can". We waited but a while longer but in the end decided to go elsewhere. As we left I said " We'll leave it, thanks". No response. Overall the service rating on TA is 4.5 so I guess we just got the wrong day, but it wasn't exactly busy.

I was working in the area so popped in to this lovely little tea room for a takeaway breakfast. The staff were so welcoming and chatty while I waited for my food! I had the breakfast club sandwich, sausage egg and bacon! All top quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Without a doubt the best breakfast sandwich I have ever eaten! Can’t wait to come back again!

Everyone in the shop admired the delicious horizons and sumptuous strata, in the fresh cut cross section of my Deli Club Sandwich. See photo of Emma displaying her culinary achievement. A whole meal bookended with granary bread ?... Surely this is what the Earl of Sandwich himself imagined on the day he first conceived this enduring serving suggestion.

My Mother in law was let down by caters for her party for her 50th wedding anniversary. Fortunately the brilliant team at Abigail’s saved the day. They put her at ease straight away making excellent suggestions relating to the food for the number of people attending. On pick up,the team were friendly and extremely helpful. We’ll definitely be using them again for future parties!

Visited for breakfast, although tables were generally free, one was being taken up by a staff member making up pizza boxes, although they did clear away when we asked if we could sit, only then to be moved onto another table with another customer, which in itself wasn’t a problem, except, we had just finished our food and ordered another coffee, order taken, only for waitress to return to say the table was no longer available and would we like our coffee to takeaway, err no thank you, all of the above would have been so much more acceptable if someone had nicely explained from the get go that they had reservations … we walked up the high street and went to Pastacuitto for our 2nd coffee and an Italian biscuit, lovely table available in the window and such a warm reception, that’s where we will be going for our next brunch meet .. shame because the food we had at Abigail’s was delicious

Having recently visited both Abigail’s lifestyle and Abigail’s delicatessen (opposite each other on Ingatestone High Street) I’d say they are both lovely little shops let down by lack of smiles, hellos and customer service. Following Abigail’s lifestyle on Instagram, before my first visit I was looking forward to a warm welcome - or at least a hello - neither of which I got. I’ve been in both shops several times since and have experienced the same treatment. I was the only customer in there on my last visit and neither of the sales assistants even looked up at me. I left empty handed and will shop elsewhere. The beauty of local small shops is the smile you get when you walk in and that’s what keeps people shopping local but if the greeting is cold and I’m going to be ignored anyway I may as well shop online!

Bought a salad to takeaway today. Service was ok, but could be better considering it is only a small local deli - even though slightly busy, the attitude could be more cheerful. I felt like an inconvenience. While my salad sat on the counter being filled, another member of staff's sleeves were hanging down in my food as she served another customer. I've just finished my salad - I must say, I found it hard to enjoy after this and there was grit in the lettuce.

I ordered salt beef bagel. Not sure what I was given as was so disgusting. It looked awful and tasted terrible. I had to throw it away after one bite. Cant say I've had hot salt beef before but thought it would be sliced meat. Looking at the menu online, I think I was given the pulled pork as was soggy and full of onions. I didn't return with bagel as I had drove away and I didn't have time to go back. I was very disappointed. I've been to Abagails lots of times and always lived the food. I'm now pretty sure I was given the wrong thing.

I ordered afternoon tea for my mum's birthday earlier this week. It was hand delivered, each person's food was in a separate box making it easy for us to comply with social distancing rules. The food was really tasty and there was a lot of it including individual pots of cream and jam. I would definitely recommend this if you fancy a treat, it is great value.

We managed to get a table for an early lunch at Abigail's between Christmas and New Year. We are not local, but had heard from friends that it was a great place to visit - however, whenever we were in the area the place was mobbed and we'd never made it through the door - until this December. It definitely has a cute, quirky interior and a cheese fridge I would have happily piled on the pounds for! There is a nice array of artisan goodies to buy and a range of sandwiches freshly made - it was very busy with locals coming in to pick up their lunch!Seating is very limited, but we managed to find a table and ordered breakfast. Breakfast consisted of very good quality meats - 2 rashers of bacon, a pork sausage and a small ring of black pudding. The tomatoes and mushrooms were really nice and seasoned well, but the bubble and squeak crocquette was the delightful surprise on the plate! For me, the homemade baked beans were a step too far (too much onion flavour for breakfast)Would happily recommend.

Coming down the A12 in Essex on the way to Kent around lunch time we were bemoaning a distinct lack of "nice" services , we quite liked the sound of Ingatestone and made a really short but well worth it detour into the High Street.Abigail"s is one of these trendy without being over the top Independent Tea Shops.Lovely home made food , great coffee (and tea) , clean loos .What's not to like , in fact , we called in on the way home a week later ..... still as good.

I used to live in the local area so don’t get to visit quite as often as I’d like to now but this is a little gem. The owners Phil and Abi know their stuff and both the deli/tea rooms and the lifestyle shop are gorgeous and packed full of wonderful goods. I particularly like the home made quiches but honestly it’s all great. You may have to wait if you want a table is the only downside as it’s small and very popular.

Whenever I have visited this lovely little place I have never been disappointed. It is small with a couple of large tables which seat about 8 and 2 or 3 tables for 2 or 4, but I think that just makes for greater opportunity to get to know fellow diners. You will find yourself surrounded by lovely china and unique kitchen pieces which are available to purchase. I thoroughly recommend the homemade scotch egg (there is nothing like homemade). Also the quiches and various other really nice deli items like the coleslaw and salads. The cakes are equally delicious. Highly recommended.

Situated towards the top end of Ingatestone High Street, this delightful little delicatessen/ tearoom is a hidden gem. We found it when browsing on the internet, and visited recently whilst shopping in town. A large range of beautiful products are sold, all from local suppliers, and there are a number of tables to sit at and enjoy food and drinks- we had a delicious cappucino and toasted teacake each. The decor is very quaint, but totally in keeping with the products sold. The staff are extremely friendly, and lots of people popped in and out to buy from the fresh counter whilst we were there.

I try to visit here any day I have off. As I don't live in Ingatestone I always make a special trip to visit here! There is one thing that is my ultimate favourite and anyone visiting the area must come and try! It may sound strange but home made scotch egg sandwich is the best! Inside the sandwich is a warm fresh scotch egg ( not like the rubbish from the supermarket) and homemade pickle& coleslaw, grated cheese. accompanied with varying side salads. Their cakes and sausage rolls are also yummy. I can't comment of the other things as I haven't tried them yet :-)

Came to visit daughter on placement from uni. Wasn’t busy but was told food be about 30 mins was over a hour till we got it. Husband had a lasagne and daughter and I had ultimate sharer, which was only 2 of each different selection?? Wouldn’t class as ultimate as needed at least 4 of each thing to feed 2 people. Husband said lasagne could had been bigger portion as well. Food was nice though but bigger portions would be great. Staff were all friendly can’t fault them. Would visit again if bigger portions.

I am horrifies to say that following buying an expensive over priced bacon sandwich the bread was green and mouldy when I got back to the office to eat it. I will not be returning and recommend others to steer well clear. The wait time for a simply sandwich is extortionate even when the cafe is quiet you can easily wait at least half an hour if not 40 mins for a sandwich. The mouldy bread was the final straw. How they can increase prices so drastically and provide food that is out of date is beyond me and a heath hazard. Be safe

I had the perfect eat out Sunday Roast Lamb dinner, that was as good as any home cooked roast that you could have.. and I wasn't even that hungry! I'm a good cook myself and if like me you love a roast... this roast lamb dinner I had at The Robin was delicious! It was served on a good sized plate (so good value) and my dinner had a lovely selection of fresh/perfectly cooked veg. The lamb was tender and tasty, the roasts pots were fluffy/crunchy, the gravy was tasty (my mouth is watering thinking about it again lol). Even with a busy bar/restaurant on a football afternoon (unfortunately it was Arsenal when we were there! lol).... it was all served nice'n'hot and even the mint sauce was top notch too, along with the staff who were friendly. (especially the female chef who cooked my delicious roast and smiley barmaid who served our drinks and waited our table). I also had a sticky toffee pud with custard and that was yummy too! 100% recommend... thanks again to the chef for my perfect eat out with home cooked vibe, Sunday roast!
