Friendly local pub. Lovely food with lots of choice (portions too big for me) and pleasant staff. Will definitely be going back soon.

Absolutely awesome in there today ! What an amazing transformation ! Greeted with a friendly welcome by Jaqs who was very attentive throughout and whose personality and sense of fun certainly made our visit and make us want to come back ! What a hidden treasure ! Mark the new landlord is going great guns and bringing our community back to the Prince of Wales...... What a godsend !

This was our third visit since the latest new landlord has been running the Prince of Wales. We have recently had lunch as well as had their Sunday roast. On this occasion we came for Friday Fish & Chips at lunchtime. We more or less had our part of the pub to ourselves which we didn't mind, but is a bit sad, as we can remember a time (before lock-down) when it was quite busy - specially for Sunday lunch. On all recent occasions we have found the food to be good, in quality & presentation. And this included our latest Fish & Chip Friday lunch. Service was friendly and we will be returning early in the coming week for lunch with another couple. I hope they manage to build trade and as we are fairly local, (Wyatts Green) that we should do our best to support them. As long as we are happy with their food & service, we will continue to visit as often as we can. Come on locals - join in and don't let this pub go again!

Since the departure of the long term landlord a couple of years ago, under the following two now departed proprietors, the pub has not provided food on a regular basis. With a new landlord recently in place and a new menu now up and running, myself and my family decided to give the pub a try Sunday lunchtime. It is great to report the food and service was excellent whilst being reasonably priced. The atmosphere was also that of a friendly local pub and even better, the prices of all drinks have been reduced. I can certainly give my full recommendation. One observation, the landline telephone number was not in operation when I tried to book, I discovered this is due to a BT issue but I found on Facebook that bookings can be made 0743 544 8621. I was told this will be rectified shortly

The Prince has always featured in my life, my husband and I moving in just three doors down.My Daughter just a few hours old as we called in to wet her head (soft drink for me!) my Son's 21st, various parties and my parents wake. So it was so sad when it went downhill after Mark and Tracey left. But at last, we have new Landords, the atmosphere has returned, the staff are friendly the food proper pub grub and the Sunday roast was lovely. So, we wish Mark and Del all the best and hope you go from strength to strength. Theresa and Bob

The Prince is now having fresh fish delivered weekly, just had Skate in there and it was amazing..My favourite fish in my favourite pub..Well Done!!

Turned up today and despite the kitchen being closed in preparation for the chef getting ready for the new menu, we were still offered some good choices and had a lovely lunch. Great service and will definitely be going back.

Owner is rude, discriminating and literally could not be bothered to attend the interview that he set up on time. He was 20 minutes late. Told me being self employed isn’t working so therefore I won’t get employed due to not working for a long time. Rude rude man! In response to your response “Hello im sorry. You were not right for the job you began the interview telling me you work somewhere else handing me a leaflet about a xbox gaming van and spent the first 5 mins talking about it. Its like you were trying to sell me a a service and not wanting a job. It was all about the business you own. When i said no you became agessive you were rude and told me you wanted 2.50 more than the advertised rate you don't have a food hygiene certificate you haven't worked in the role im hiring for 4 years. I stopped the interview and asked you to leave. What exactly did you expect. For us to go into partnership with your PlayStation van on wheels? I'm hiring staff not looking for a PlayStation van.” My response: You organised an interview at 10am and did not show until 10:20am and ignored my calls. I was about to leave when you eventually turned up so thought I’d see it through. You have stated nothing but lies, I explained I run a business yes, and showed you what it is. I did not talk about it for 5 minutes, I answered the questions you asked. Your blunt response was “is it going to affect your job” in such a patronising tone. You had an attitude from the minute you showed up and you could not remember a single thing I had told you previously from the phone interview that happened 2 days prior. You clearly have no leadership skills and judging by the other reviews left about this pub, it’s quite clear the public also agree. You kept rubbing your eyes and yawning every 5 seconds and snorting like a pig…this doesn’t show someone who is actually a good manager let alone someone who can be bothered to do their own work. And quite frankly, it’s just rude mannerisms when someone is sat directly in front of you!!!! I don’t understand where you get that I haven’t worked for 4 years from at all, because I have and am currently working? Please do not lie to make yourself look better. I do not have to disclose every form of information to you whatsoever! I am entitled to ask for more money, that is not a crime. I am fully trained and FULLY experienced and good at what I do. Unfortunately, you don’t value people’s time, effort or skillsets. You also don’t value that staff would have a family. If I were to take a chef role (which you stated the role was both kitchen and bar, hours of 12pm-closing time….!!!!) I would be working under YOUR license, not my own. This wasn’t a self employed role, therefore, it is the owner’s responsibility to provide correct PPE where applicable, and to hold the correct licences. You made me feel uncomfortable from the start and I wouldn’t trust being alone with you. You were rude from the start, and I would never have taken the position with the state of your attitude anyway. This job has been reported on Indeed.

Not a bad pub and got a lot of potential. Sadly when visited today, apart from myself and my mate, no one other than the barmaid was in there. The couple of pints I had were cheaper than the surrounding pubs & well chilled so from that perspective all good 👍

Our first visit since it reopened. No problem with the food but clearly still a long way to go we were the only diners for lunch on that Wednesday. Also i fear that charging £9.50 for a large glass of Shiraz may well see customers think twice.

This place has gone so far down the hill since Mark & Tracy left you need ski's to reach it, used to really enjoy our visits then but since they left its not worth going too . nothing seems clean, and when your serving food and drink that is a priority , we shall not return,,,,,,,,,,,,

Let's start by saying it is early days and there are hopeful signs. Soft drink prices were reasonable but the unavailability of any cider was a disappointment. Baguettes were very good with generous filling for a flat £6 which was great value. Enjoyed sausage and onion, the prawns looked really good. Definitely the makings of something good, one to watch.

Popped in today as pouring with rain. Only had hot drinks and the pub was empty other than a few others. Well presented with a small food menu. Nice pub if you’re looking for an alternative to Gastro.

Stopped for lunch, had a coffee, cup had a dirty ring round half was thru drinking, complained to the lad he walked off with it without saying anything. . cook ad a open wound on back of her hand, no dressing on it.. very disappointed, will not return. .

Good food, well priced. They ate able to serve large parties with ease. Recommended.

Good old fashioned pub as they used to be!

Called in as in the area - so glad we did, needed a table for 6 was no problem on Sunday afternoon. Really good pub food, chicken curry was especially good. So tasty we all had desserts. Will definitely be back.

Perhaps we don't visit as much as we should as its very local. Friendly pub with proper food. Tend to be single minded as we like them with the Ham, Egg & chips, served with proper mustard or the Hunters Chicken. It's well worth a visit but perhaps not doing themselves any favours putting the Abbot up to £5.40, the highest price i have paid.

Wonderful hospitality, seriously must give this place a try. The staff so lovely and friendly a really credit to the Manager’s. We swooped by following a long journey on the A12 in need of some food and a rest. We walked in and was greeted by a warm smile, the menu choices were really good. We opted for a roast and whilst waiting the bar lady asked if we would like to taste the crackling whilst our dinners were being cooked, mmmm lovely. The chef and her colleague came out and were super helpful and friendly. Our dinner was piping hot, good portion and so nice to have fresh vegetables, we were full. The Managers mum came to take our bill and we had a nice little chat. Overall the whole experience was excellent, staff were a real credit to the Managers and the food lovely- can’t wait to return on our next road trip! Check this place out you won’t be disappointed

Over the top price for the quality of food ,I would give 9 /10 for presentation 4/10 for food ,meat really tough, some veg (beans) like eating match sticks . Just not good enough for the price

Just visited without a booking to grab lunch. Wow their pie is one of the best I’ve had in years. Packed full of meat with a lovely home made source. So so nice. Staff were really friendly too, dogs welcome in the bar. What a little gem.

Just back from an excellent lunch with family at The Prince of Wales. My steak and kidney pie was full of tasty,tender meat and the others really enjoyed the vegetarian options. Finding Cobra on tap was the icing on the cake! We will be back a.s.a.p.

I arrived exhausted after a long work journey and was relieved to find this welcoming, relaxed pub with an excellent menu of home-cooked quality dishes. Genuinely friendly staff, excellent value for money and truly delicious food.

Had not been here for a couple of years due to all the crap that's been going on in our world, when we arrived was greeted by the owner Mark as if we were there the day before, We had booked for lunch and were seen to our table, the pub was quite full and had a great atmosphere everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, the staff and owner could not do enough to make our visit enjoyable & nothing was to much trouble for any of them, We will definitely be returning sooner rather than later..... Great place

A really lovely pub with friendly staff. Good was good and it's reasonably priced. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars from me is that when people go outside to smoke, they stand right by the front door. This meant the smoke blew in as few times.

Menu contain generous portions of proper ham, with proper chips with real Colmans mustard, washed down with Abbot ale. Add the full menu so what more can you ask for.

Absolutely loved our family day out here. Such friendly, polite, accommodating staff. Pub itself is clean, well maintained, inviting and allows indoor or outside seating. Food is LOVELY. All food on menu good value for money. All clean plates from my family.

A really warm and friendly country pub. The staff are helpful and the food is good old fashioned honest grub with good portions, a main meal is quite enough although you can go the whole hog.

Second customer of the day and waited 40 mins for lunch, the menu was ok, friendly staff, clean place, just felt food could of been quicker.

We saw the pub as we were passing and decided to pull in and give it a try for a mid-week lunch as we were hungry. Never been here before. We both ordered the Steak and Kidney Pie; one with vegetables and mash and the other with chips and peas.The pie was a portion from a large home made pie, which was fantastic, both in terms of tate and portions. The accompanying veg etc. was of a similar high quality.The atmosphere in the bar was great, although the tables are a little too close together but they are obviously required as all were taken!The barmaid was friendly and helpful and all in all this was a very pleasant visit and a nice surprise. Will definitely go again.

we called in here with a group, although we were given tickets with our pre ordered meals numbered still one lady was given the wrong meal and another lady's sweet was forgotten, how could they get that wrong?

Visit here frequently - lovely atmosphere and the food is always good and fresh and home cooked unlike some with "home" cooking. Good value for money and truly scrumptious.

Good value pub grub - nothing outstanding but great portions and wide variety for Saturday lunch, averaging £10 per main. The chicken and ham hock pie was fantastic - huge chunks of chicken, also great chunks of steak in the steak and kidney pie. Note the hunters chicken has a bacon rasher on it, rather randomly!

Traditional pub selling a selection of well kept beers. Food is available and the Sunday lunch seems very popular.

I tell you what! If you are looking for a lovely little pub that’s cozy, not full of idiots and chavs in Essex it is quite the place to go to! It’s tucked out of the way and it’s mostly full of locals! The Guinness is always on point and the food is the best pub food I’ve ever had! It’s become quite a regualr haunt for myself and my family. The prices are reasonable and the staff are really friendly. I must add that if you want any suggestions go for the Steak and Kidney pie with chips and salad. To put it quite simply in the words of Harry Redknapp to describe the food and drink “It’s the quality I want to see” Thanks again, James.

Lovely little pub/restaurant friendly atmosphere good service and good prices

The service was ok, happy and prompt but sadly the food was terrible. Starter portions small, 6 breaded mushrooms expensive for £6. Peri peri chicken burnt. Mains: mixed grill well overdone, totally dried out, Rib eye steak bland fatty and flavourless, gammon steak also fatty. Overall 6 of 11 meals were poor. Shame really.
