WOW! What a great little find this place is. On our first visit we had the full English breakfasts which included toast and tea/coffee and totalled less than £20, all freshly cooked and all fresh ingredients (the bacon was amazing!) Our second visit 2 days later we had the 3 course Sunday menu after which I had to be rolled out to the car, stuffed would be an understatement. The prawn cocktail starter was amazing, followed by roast beef and all the trimmings (all fresh not a frozen vegetable in sight!!! The desserts were amazing too, I had the apple and caramel and my hubbie had sticky toffee pudding, the meal also includes tea and coffee!! All washed down with half a carafe of red wine and 2 pints of (proper) coke and the bill came to £69!! Absolute bargain compared to other places that charge way more I would without a doubt recommend this place to everyone, but make sure u book coz it gets busy for lunch.

Four of us ate here today at lunchtime. It is a quirky little place with fabulous staff and good parking, just off the A59. Very reasonable prices combined with a varied menu make this a must visit place. Bit of a dodgy road to get to it but worth the effort. Low ceilings could give tall people a headache so watch out. Dog friendly too. A little gem.

Just wanted to restate my review of 2 years ago, we have now been going to the restaurant/cafe for 24 years and Jon and Joyce the owners continue to make you feel both welcome and cook some damned good meals ( for any Yorkshire person reading) for others can I say the selection of meals available from simple tea/coffee or cold drinks, sandwiches, soups (again not had better anywhere) or full cooked meals are mouth watering and fill the biggest of appitites. Price? Very competitive to any gourmet pub but food is far better, if you want small portions, flowers on your food or napkins in the shape of a Swan don't come, we've seen families over the years as we have been going for meals, children born and now adults, all sharing the abbots Harbour experience one that you will take with you in life

Visited this cafe whilst holidaying on the nearby canal. Enjoyed a great coffee, huge pot of tea, plus cakes. All were lovely. A very low tech but charming type of place with friendly service. Sat outside under a covered pergola which was nicely sheltered. Other seating at the roadside and in the garden, but didn’t really experience the inside. Would recommend searching this place out.

Called on spec on a walk from Gargrave to East Marton, at the recommendation of a bloke on a narrow boat, and wasn't disappointed. Given that the cafe-cum-restaurant is off the beaten track - one wouldn't know it was there as there is no signpost on the A59 - it seemed very busy outside, which suggested it was a popular spot. We had to take a table on the first floor as all other tables were either already taken or reserved, but this wasn't a problem - at no point did we feel 'forgotten'. Food was excellent and portions were generous. Despite the fact that business costs are increasing, the prices were very reasonable - we had two steak & kidney pies, with chips and three veg, substantial puddings with ice cream, and drinks, all for £36. Seemed like a bargain to me.

We had Sunday Lunch at Abbots Harbour yesterday, and the reviews are right! It's a lovely place full of character, with a carpark and right next to the canal. Food home cooked and delicious with quite a big choice for a small place. Tasty, tender beef, loads of perfectly cooked vegetables for sharing - in a proper old fashioned tureen, and excellent gravy. My husband had the steak and kidney pie and pronounced it superb. Big choice of very nice puds and the red house wine was good too. The staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient and gave us just enough attention. It was busy, but not noisy - there are only five or six tables. I would heartily recommend this hidden gem. We shall definitely return!

We have visited this cafe twice over the past year, both times as our turning point on our canal walk from Gargrave, and it has been a welcoming comfort stop. On this current visit the standards were maintained and our tea and scones (as well as a rather splendid lemon meringue pie) absolutely hit the spot. Equally important - service was excellent and the prices very reasonable.East Marton is a tucked-away spot off the main road, so unless you deliberately choose to come here you will only really find it if you are walking or cruising the canal, or walking the Pennine Way. For those of you who are rather less energetic, or are simply in the area by car however, I suggest that you seek this cafe out, it is well worth it.

We dropped in on the Cowling-Malham leg of the Pennine Way. Monday lunchtime in May, so it was quiet, but still open and the lovely, friendly staff served us a fantastic lunch. Wild rice and spinach loaf for the veggie, toasties with chips for 2 and a full roast beef and Yorkshires for me. All were generous portions and tasty, with plenty of nicely cooked and presented veg to go with the two 'roasts'. As an occasional meat-eater, I have to describe that roast dinner as an almost religious experience - especially the gravy. This will be a definite calling-point any time I'm in the area.

Looking for somewhere to have lunch on our way to a gig in Ingleton, I read reviews for several places around Skipton. Abbotts Harbour sounded lovely and it is! What a delightful little eatery in a delightful location. Staff were friendly and smiling and, oh the food. I opted for the Yorkshire Pudding with onion gravy. It came smothered in a delicious gravy; the onions were caramelised and added a subtle sweetness. The pudding itself, a large square well risen and golden brown, was crisp and light and yes, just like my mum used to make. The best Yorkshires I've tasted outside my own kitchen. My husband ordered a ploughmans - ham, cheese, pork pie, pickle, coleslaw, salad an apple and bread and butter. His only criticism was the very large tomato and the apple were served whole and rather dwarfed the other components of the meal. We will definitely be back to sample the fine looking beef and beer pie! Oh, and the horse in the field outside really enjoyed the apple!

I don't know why I haven't written a review before now as we've been coming here for years. We have brought many others with us to sample the delights this restaurant has to offer, and everyone is of the same opinion-brilliant. Such a delight to have genuine home cooked food to suit all tastes, the portion are pretty huge, so dieters beware! The food and service can't be faulted and so it's with some reluctance I have to express a complaint. The stairs to the toilets are upstairs and for me (and I'm sure other customers with mobility problems), this is a real pain. There is another toilet adjacent to the restaurant near the garden, which is quite frankly awful! I hope one day, this will be completely refurbished and myself and others will be 100% satisfied with Abbots Harbour and not 99.

I first came across this place after walking in the nearby contryside. It is popular with walkers, canal boat holiday makers and day trippers but is not easy to find being off the beaten track and adjacent to the canal towpath near East Marton, Skipton. I made a promise to visit but it took me almost 12 months to do so.It was well worth the wait! For a no nonsence, warm Yorkshire welcome with good old fasioned farm house cooking, you can't do better. It's a comfortable if fairly dark atmosphere, the restaurant being rustic in style and situated in the old stalls of a stone walled barn. It's an unpretentious and unsophisticated place. If you're looking for fine dining, this isn't the place, but if you want good wholesome and tasty food at value for money prices, The Abbots Harbour takes some beating. We have now enjoyed three visits and will be going again soon.Sunday lunch is just like your Mum used to make!

The restaurant was not busy, but we ordered tea and sat outside in the sunshine. When the tea arrived, we noticed that the cups were stained and the sugar bowl was encrusted - but we didn't want to say anything. However,I couldn't accept the milk jug with a layer of black dirt on the inside and I decided to ask for replacement milk The surly waitress brought more milk - but no apology. This establishment did not live up to its claim and was a sore disappointment.

I was cycling the Way of the Roses solo on a very hot day and had done about 45 miles by the time I arrived in Cracoe, I was suffering from heat exhaustion (shaking, felt sick, etc). They were really nice and gave me lots of ice in my drinks, and filled up my water bottles with ice cold water. The sit in the shade and the icy drinks got me through the remainder of my journey to Pateley Bridge. Thanks so much to the staff, very welcoming and helpful. I was dubious about the sizes of sunday roasts after reading a previous review - and to be fair, the plates do not arrive loaded with masses of veg or mash. However, we all left feeling satisfied and it really felt like well prepared, high quality food. The steak and ale pie, and steak and ale yorkie had the same filling, which was superb.

Called here on way to Lakes on back of positive tripadviser reviews. Nice comfortable cafe in middle of town. Service was a little slow but there problems with the water supply. Food was excellent ( omelette, garlic mushrooms ) and hot drinks as well. A very pleasant stopover.

Update 3 years later: Went back today and the food is still gorgeous - but the potions have shrunk hugely. Chips came up to maybe half the depth of a *small* square tray. Best order a large unless you have the appetite of a 5 year old! 😆 Best fish and chips ever. Tasty, meaty fish in crispy light batter. Delicious gravy. Soooo gooood 😊
