We love this family owned place and have been twice now when in Hanham - what a great location 😎💫💜💫 Update - we just checked out the Abbots website….that’s really special and well set out. Nice 😊

i was starving after a long day at work, and i came and sat down at this lovely fish and chip shop as a reward. the atmosphere was beautiful and i was greeted by the friendliest server i’ve ever met! (i beleive her name was kyra) she attended to my every need and helped point out the pescatarian dishes which was greatly appreciated. she asked me about my day and was engaging and funny - which made my day less bleak too. i am an aging woman so i needed help to see the menu, but she was very patient. if anyone deserves a raise i beleive it should be her as i would be very hungry and sad without her aid. thankyou, jess.

was served by a man with long dark hair made the order simple with no fuss and the food came out great

Went in on spur of the moment ,ordered a cod and chips, one large battered sausage, and a curry sauce . Fish and sausage had to be cooked as they looked busy with phone/internet orders. So had a little waiting to do as expected. When we got home and started to eat, we found fish was not greesy ,like some takeaways ,the sausage was also the same and the chips were hot ,not greesy and not over cooked( crispy too much).Enough for 2 people unless your greedy So in all it was one of the best food I have had for many months. Will make it once a week now and will order on line and then pick up . Very reasonable price too

Banging chips. Quite expensive at 4.20 for a large bag but they are great and I'd highly recommend

Ordered regular cod and chips. The cod is by far the smallest I’ve ever had from a chip shop but even worse is the fact it was off. Not badly but enough to know it was rotting. Worst of all I paid £10.50 for the privilege! When I called them to complain, they apologised and said they would give me free fish and chips next time. Thanked them and hung up.. however no thank you, I’d rather have my money back.

Absolutely avoid. Last night's rotten chips served on a Friday. I voided my stomach almost instantly.

This was not open and it was not opan and it was 5 52 pm not happy As have no chip shop opan and the go with out eat

Ordered 3 small cod and 1 portion of large chips.. wow.. glad I never asked for large cod.. the portion was fabulous..and plenty of chips.. Fish batter was crisp and crunchy and chips were brilliant too. Highly recommend this place.. Well done to all staff.

Good portion sizes and reasonably priced. Can be busy, but staff are polite and friendly.

Poor sized large chips, compared with previous portion. It's OK, plenty of other chippies locally, so won't use them again!

Excellent fish & chips. My dad recommended them as the best and he wasn’t wrong. The cod was succulent and flaky, the large portion was huge and even the small was what I would call large. The batter was crispy and flavoursome with just the right amount of soft bits, not too soggy or greasy. We had 1 large portion of chips between 4 of us and that was enough. Would definitely recommend.

Nice fish and chips. Decent potion sizes and well cooked chips. Batter can sometimes be hit and miss at peak times but on the whole we've never had an issue here and return out of choice all the time

I use to live in this area many years ago, and whilst visiting on Saturday decided to eat at the local chippy, Bad mistake bought roast chicken and chips, they said chicken would be cooked in 3 mins. Not from fresh I don't think, chips were greasy taste like leftovers from lunchtime. Late that evening I becane very sick and was vomiting for the next 12 hours, its now Monday morning and I'm still ill and off work. If I could give it no stars I would. This shop use to be a Hardware shop when lived here, I suggest they turn the clock back.

Would not recommend pre ordering your food online as new people do not understand what that means.I used to order online to pick up at a set time ,food was always ready and I was served ahead of queue ,but now I have to wait in queue and everyone is served ahead of me which is not the point of pre order ,which means you get served without queueing ..service has gone downhill

Absolutely terrible, I ordered haddock and chips.. I got raw fish with batter not cooked and fish under.. We ordered from here before and was really lovely, NEVER AGAIN....😡😡😡

This place is discussing the chips taste like they’ve been cooked in dirty fat didn’t enjoy at all also previous experience blood in the chicken as wasn’t cooked properly won’t be going again

Fish and Chip price has been going up and up. Portions getting smaller and smaller. Taste of the cod has been getting blander and blander to something that isn't too dissimilar from soggy cardboard. Used to be much, much better. I head over to oldfields instead now.

Phenomenal portions tasty fish and lots and lots of nicely cooked chips. Barbour chicken is good too.

Very disappointed. The member of staff who served me was talking on the phone using his ear piece all the time he was serving me. The younger generation may find this acceptable but for someone serving customers on the front counter, I do not. He had to ask me details of the order when he made it up because he left part off. I asked for a small chips which was enough to serve 4 adults. This I find extremely wasteful. The quality of the food was excellent although more expensive than the shop I usually use.

Always enjoy my fish which was cooked while I waited the chips are very good not dry but lovely and moist! Have never been disappointed the quality of the fish is amazing lovely crunchy batter!
