Very spicy and late - would not order again

I ordered at 18.20 and received an expected delivery time of 19.10 - 19.30, which was disappointing in the first place as the restaurant is no more than 3/4 mile away. The order eventually arrived at 19.50 and because it was so late everything was cold before I could finish the meal. A pretty poor effort all round

The Nan bread was cold and hard. The popadoms tasted metallic like old oil. The rice was cold. The sauce of both curry’s was Luke warm and tasted of bisto gravy not madras or curry. Called the restaurant and they didn’t offer any help. No offer of new order and no offer of refund. I would have to wait for a manager to call back tomorrow. Ordered a rogan Josh which I have had at other takeaways and at local restaurants. Way too spicy and could not eat - spoilt our meal

Used to love this place but a little let down this time. Only 4/5 pieces of chicken per curry made me feel a little hard done by. Was surprised to find cardamom pods, cloves and a large piece of cassia bark in my food when those whole spices are normally removed. Also considering we spent £70 I thought they may have thrown in a mango chutney or something but unfortunately not. But, food was tasty and well spiced so would still recommend in that respect.

Which ever chef is on tonight (Friday) is amazing! Every dish was spot on! Spinach was perfect! Not over cooked or too much/little garlic, not too sloppy just perfect! Mushrooms same! Perfect amount of spice to this sauce. Good consistency. Meat cooked to perfection! Fall apart in your mouth. Delivery was on time. Updates from restaurant were the right/necessary amount.

Didn't like the taste of tandoori chicken but the rest was good.

Made an order and on delivery, no rice was received. I rang the restaurant immediately and was promised that the item would be delivered within 5 minutes. It still hasn't arrived

Customer for over 30 years. Few weeks had a house biryani was disappointing. They must have had a different chef. Back to normal now lovely sauces. Lamb a bit gristly though. Still love Ababil though.

My desert order was incorrect. I had ordered strawberry cheese cake and a chocolate cake plus an apple pie. I got a chocolate cheese cake and a frozen orange thing instead. I didn’t really like it. I’m not sure if it was a mistake but if you do not have the options picked, please call and ask for what customer would like to substitute for instead. Thanks

Wrong food delivered. They argued that I had ordered said wrong food when I called when I could PROVE I didn’t given its here in the app, and then they asked what I wanted them to do about it, as if I was being unreasonable in complaining about being left with no edible dinner. On re-delivery, my prawn saag was totally flavourless, which after a paratha that may as well have been a frisbee as it was so claggy and the lukewarm rice, was the cap on an overall terrible meal!

Always delicious, right amount of spice/heat and love the different dishes and specialities they offer that no one else does. Plus they always throw in yummy mini bhajis for free.

I have placed an order at this restaurant, they have delivered to a different address and after calling them to explain that I haven’t received the order they just told me that order was delivered and is nothing that they can do. So they just took my money and now they don’t want to refund or send another my order again and all this just because they can’t deliver to the right address. Just ruined my evening. Don’t ever order from them as they are really unprofessional and you will not get your order.

Ordered delivery had to pick it up. Walked in and they're all shouting at eachother in the kitchen, too busy to notice I'm waiting. Gave me free starter was rubbish. Didn't even tell me what it was.. for all they know I could be allergic. Rice was so minted, like they want to disguise how rubbish the food is. Ababil Used to be good. But not any more. Thanks for wasting my money. Went in the bin.

I think the restaurant is getting more orders and so they are compromising big time with the quality. This was my 3rd unsatisfactory order in a row. Now will never try them again

I’ve been using Ababil over 30 years & never disappoints me but last night I was very disappointed. The Biryani had horrible rubbery bits of tandoori chicken & bones in it. Couldn’t find any chicken or lamb only a small amount of kofta. CTM tasted dry & not much lamb in passanda in a watery sauce. Very disappointed.

The online menu is hard work and can take age to find what you want, once we ordered it was about 20 and we picked it up, Once home found a Chicken Tandoori missing so I returned , I told them what was wrong and they disappeared into kitchen , once I got there attention they told me to come back next day, I refused and they went into kitchen, another man turned up and he said no refund and come back tomorrow, I told them I will phond trading standards in morning and they decided to refund me. Curry was ok, but terrible service.

Faultless.. absolutely amazing food.. all fresh and delicious. Bhuna was amazing, tikka masala sauce amazing, peshwari naan amazing.. Bhaji's were a bit tough but I prefer that to dripping with oil. My new fav restaurant. Will be ordering from here from now on.

I have to say the price raise you have made is so bad!! an item that was 5.50 is now 8.00 pound how can you justify that?? I was going to order again today but 3.00 has been added to all meals.... your food is good but its not worth the money you are now charging people 7.50 to 10.50 in a month? lost a customer....

Ordered a take away and it was grim. Onion bhajis were cold, rock hard and greasy. Curry had no flavour and the chicken was dry and stringy. The only thing that was edible was the naan bread which was really nice. The rest went in the bin.

Very nice food. A couple of items were missing from our order. I called the restaurant direct and they sent the missing items straight away. I can't fault the service provided.

This was my first order, the order came late but the food is absolutely fantastic, one of the best I have ever had. I will be ordering again :-)

This is a take away only restaurant. Was delivered well within the stated 1 hour BUT Lamb Madras sauce was watery, with no Madras taste and you had to search for the pieces of lamb (despite us paying extra for a large). The chicken tikka masala was glow-in-the-dark red, very coconutty, not looking or tasting like any tikka masala we've had before. Won't be going back here, and wouldn't recommend it. A shame, as am sure this place used to make a good curry many moons ago.

First time ordering, thought to try somewhere new. Daal Bhajis were a bit dry. Otherwise food was ok, not the best. Delivery was on time.

Sauce had a more floral flavour compared to normal. Not a big fan of that. Noticed less meat was being used - less pieces than normal and smaller pieces. Probably down to the prices of food going up. Will keep using ababil.

Yes, it was late but to be fair, it was a Friday night and we were experiencing a major storm so I do understand. The food is, as per usual, excellent - I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Havent ordered an indian in a while as most disappoint. If you get the right condiments alongside your curry, it can be really good and Ababil delivered on all fronts. Will be ordering again.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant but I wonder if the chef is on holiday. For the first time ever, I had a disappointing meal - salty, meatless lambchops completely missing all the flavours which I am used to.

The food was amazing as always and I have ordered here so many times. Their portion size is very generous. The only drawback for me was the delivery time. My order came in 1.5 hours from the time I placed it, so bit of a wait, but the food made up to the delay in the delivery. Amazing taste.

The sign of a poor Indian restaurant can often be quantified by the amount of food colouring that is used in its dishes. I'm sure this used to be a good quality restaurant many moons ago but the takeaway I ordered this past weekend was pretty poor. The Pilau rice was white rice with fluorescent coloured flashes. Pilau rice should be a natural light brown colour. The Chicken Tikka Masala (there's always one) was bright red, resembling curdling blood. The onion bhajis were as dry as a bone and way over cooked. The chicken tikka balti bhuna was plain old awful No onion and chutney provided with the poppadoms (disgraceful!) All round disappointing and lazy.

Lovely food. Ordering time orinally over an hour. Tho I called restaurant to track my order as Internet not saying anything and was advised it would still.be another 24 mins. However it arrived 10 mins later! Good food. And might order again. Just not communicative with tracking and waiting time.

I have spent almost £80 this week at the Ababil and I’ve not even received as much as a free (complimentary) poppadom!! The food quality is good, delivery time adequate but am disappointed not to receive anything ‘on them’. I’ve been a loyal customer for around 25 years and used to get free vegetable side dishes, free poppadoms, salad & mint sauce with every order! I will order once more and if the lack of generosity continues I will swiftly move to the Star of India. They don’t offer Phall dishes but I would rather be appreciated and add my Carolina Reaper powder to a Vindaloo than stay with a restaurant that doesn’t care about their customers.

You won't get the sweet bland and overcooked curries which other places in the area are serving. The food is truly excellent. I'm doing a second review because I feel the recent 3 stars are absolutely unfair.

This is still the best Indian takeaway after all these years. The chef understands herbs and spices and serves an authentic meal. Portions are excellent too. I highly recommend Ababil.

This place had been our go to Curry house for 2/3 years. Tonight was absolutely horrendous. We ordered at 18:30 and was told an hour until arrival and it turned up at 21:00. We called twice and we were greeted with laughing staff who fed us lies saying that ‘we were busy’ and that ‘it was being checked’, when clearly it hadn’t even been cooked. No apologies whatsoever. It then arrived and the naan bread and onion bhajis were missing. The food that did arrive was bland, horrendously dry and a complete disgrace. Another call up and the idiot on the end of the phone couldn’t care less. He was laughing with his idiot mates on the end of the phone. They offered to refund the items that were missing but I couldn’t care less. They ruined our evening. Shocking food, service and you’ve lost a loyal customer. I’ll go buy my curries from your competition now and people who actually give a f**k about their customers. Ta ta morons

The taste was like smoked chicken and in my Noodles they have used meggie noodles can you believe that instead of using proper noodles they used meggie noodles which cost 0.30 Pence per packet. And in the name of Prawns there were only 2 prawns in my portion and taste was awful same as tikka roll smoked taste. Really disappointed will not suggest or ever order again.

Ordered at 1930 and arrived at 2121. It’s popular because it’s great food. But could do with working on delivery times.
