Awesome food, we found this place by accident thanks to zooming on Google Maps and I’m glad we did. Authentic food (as evidenced by the other Indians here - we are a discerning bunch!). We had the Veg Manchurian, Baingan Masala and the Hyderabadi - all are highly-recommended 👍🏼

We went as a couple but it had mixed diners - groups, families , couples. Its a small, cosy restaurant - excellent food, service, atmosphere. What more can you ask for?

We visited Leeds for a weekend break. We booked this restaurant online not knowing if it was OK. This restaurant is a fantastic place to eat. The staff are exceptionally helpful, cooking an individual dish for a friend's personal taste. The service was excellent. We all agreed that this restaurant is a jewel and should be visited for an exceptional authentic Indian cuisine experience.

Revisiting after a year and can simply say this is still a hidden diamond in Leeds. Staff and food absolutely top notch. The size of the dishes are deceptive, a struggle to eat it all, and the freshness and flavours are exquisite.

A simply brilliant Indian restaurant tucked away around the corner of Lower Briggate. First visit and it didn't disappoint. The service was first class and the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was incredibly tasty and served with just the right amounts. A lovely relaxed atmosphere added to the occasion. Highly recommended and a jewel in the crown of Leeds City Center restaurants.

Visiting my Grandson, at Uni, near hotel: service was good & food was excellent, grandson had chicken tikka masala & I had South Indian prawn curry, with rice & Nan bread, all really good ! We, really enjoyed our visits to Aarti, we plan to go again on my next visit.

Food was great. We had a Lamb Biryani made by Chef Karan. That was absolutely delicious also hospitality of Shrawan is amazing. Such a welcoming and friendly environment. We will be back again.

Happened upon the place while walking past, definately a happy accident, extremely welcoming staff, couldn't do enough for us, amazing service, clearly very proud of the resturant, food was packed with flavour, very traditional Indian, small intimate dining room gave a lovely atmosphere, one of the bast tasting curry's I've ever had, good amount of spice, quick service, would definitely recommend!

Called in for lunch with our little boy at this family run restaurant during the school holidays. The staff were incredibly accommodating, friendly and helpful, even offering to make a less spicy curry for our son to cater for his taste if he wished. The food was very authentic and tasty. The chicken hariyali was absolutely amazing as was the peshawari naan. I look forward to returning very soon.

One of the best restaurant I've visited for a long time. Love the food please, try there chilli paneer, veg manchuria and dahi puri. In the mains I ordered Maratha chicken was well spiced delicious and love it. Great service.

We visited after seeing all the great reviews and weren’t disappointed! We ordered the far far and chutneys to start, with a lamb curry, chicken curry, 1 rice and 2 rotis between us and there was more than enough food! Both curries were lovely and service was friendly and attentive. We’ll be back 😊

Stopped at Malmaisson and noticed the Aarti restaurant across the way, reviews were good, so decided to try for ourselves. Did not disappoint, popadoms, chicken tikka starter- the best I’ve tasted! Followed by chicken biryani, husband had chicken Maratha, very unusual, full of flavours and spices, his favourite. The service was very good, friendly staff, very informative. Hidden gem in Leeds

Delicious! The food was incredibly tasty, and the menu was both traditional and eclectic. We went for lunch and can’t wait to go back for an evening meal.

I came here with a friend. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful and the food was very good, although I was rather puzzled by the ‘pappadoms’ which turned out to be multi-coloured cylinders which did not resemble any pappadoms I’ve ever seen or tasted (returned from 5 months in India in January). The nice thing about the staff was their willingness to talk me through the menu. They were knowledgeable and went out of their way to be helpful. Recommended!

The service and food was very authentic. I am from India and my husband and I went there to celebrate my birthday. It felt like I was right at home. They even served us gulam jamun (traditional sweet) on the house as a little something from them on my day! The server was very humble and thoughtful. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking to experience authentic Indian restaurant. I can’t wait to go back again!

I'm not often moved to write reviews, but the lunch I've just had deserves shouting about. I arrived almost as soon as it opened - I don't think the chefs were expecting folks in so early, but they were super friendly and took my order (I was very apologetic for being the first of the day!) I went for the non-veg Thali with masala chai, which arrived super quickly. It sounds a bit hyperbolic, but honestly I've not had food that good in ages! Each dish complimented the others, with deep complex flavours and richness, all paired with really good roti and rice. The chai was delicate and warming on a pretty cold day and a perfect aperitif to the meal. The owner was super chatty and friendly and made me feel really welcome, and best of all, it was less than a tenner. I've paid twice that for food less than half as good! Hands down, it was worth the trip to Leeds alone.

We have been to Aarti for a sit down meal lots of times but for once decided to order a takeaway for pickup on Valentine’s Day night. I rang the day before and placed my order. It was a bit sad to see an empty restaurant but I am sure it will be packed very soon.The food as always is excellent, hot, fresh and very good value for money. I don’t know why we even use other Indian takeaways? Aarti is far superior to any in the Leeds area and we only live a few streets away.Aarti is the only Indian takeaway and restaurant we will be using in the future. Thank you

La comida era excelente, como de costumbre, y si te encantan las especias, te recomiendo que pruebes el vegetariano manchuriano. Los curry fueron fantásticos de nuevo y no podría recomendar este lugar más, ¡especialmente si quieres probar algo de comida india auténtica!

We have been regular customers at this excellent restaurant since it opened. The professionally trained chef and his wife consistently serve up fresh and delicious food to a very happy clientele.Given the now difficult circumstances, I’m just very grateful that they are continuing to provide their excellent food as takeaways. The least we can do for them is support them through the next difficult months and hope that they will still be in business this time next year.If you’ve eaten in the restaurant before, please get your takeaways now. If you’ve not tried them - you should!

Visited Aarti last night with friends for the first time and definitely not the last, run by husband and wife, who made us all very welcome and most importantly the food was absolutely fantastic, all of us having ordered different dishes, to which we all agreed was plentiful and delicious.I have reviewed a few Indian restaurants and as I live 5 minutes away, I’m kicking myself having not visited earlier, looking forward to my next visit

Eaten here twice now. One of the nicest tasting Indians I’ve had. Service is also very good. Never fully booked for some reason, maybe due to location being on the first floor and less visible. But top notch!

I had dinner here with a friend. The food was very authentic unlike a lot of Indian restaurants. The lamb curry was delicious and the naan breads were light and perfectly cooked. Service was goo and very reasonably priced.

Esta vez asistí con un grupo de aficionados al curry como parte de un club de curry los miércoles. Los seis de nosotros disfrutamos de una excelente comida dejando una mesa de platos vacíos.

Un pequeño gran descubrimiento escondido en la calle concurrida. El personal era muy cálido y acogedor y la comida era muy sabrosa, con una rica salsa que no parecía nada grasosa. Muy diferente al estilo habitual y todo lo mejor para eso. Sin duda volveremos!

My son and his Indian wife visited a fortnight ago and were so impressed that they took us there last week. We all chose vegetarian dishes and every one of them was delicious. The staff were brilliant and came up trumps when helping us to decide on the level of spices we preferred. We chose 4 different mains so that we could try each others and I have to say selecting a winner was very difficult. I had a paneer curry which I loved, while my husband chose a veggie Bhuna which was very tasty,. To accompany them we had garlic naans, peshwari naan and rotis, all of which were lovely. I wish I lived nearer as I would definitely go back regularly.

First time after been recommended to go Really good food amazing flavours,Met the owner very nice lady. Will 100% go back. Only bad thing was the young lad who served us was not very good very miserable and when asked what a dish was like he just said “never tried it “ get rid and get staff the food deserves!! 5 star cos food so good

I love this place. It's the most genuine Indian food in Leeds that tastes closest to my mum's cooking; very wholesome and cooked properly. The chilli paneer is to die for! The costs are very reasonable (especially compared to local competitors) and the hostess is lovely.

This is our second visit to Aarti since we moved to Leeds and once again the food was outstanding.

By far the best Indian food I have ever had in the U.K.! As good as, if not better than the food I've had in India! SO much so, that while eating it, I was taken back to the sunny shores of Goa! Enough of all that! Simply put, each time I've ordered food it has been superb! Doesn't matter what you order, it is delicious. Obviously cooked with love and care, which shows. Jacqui, my wife, is not one for spiced food of any variety, but she loves it too. Try it, you won't be disappointed!!

Nine years. It took me nine long years to find you, but it was worth the wait. Brilliant curry and the pickle tray was fresh - the yoghurt was fantastic by the way. Excellent food.

Best lamb curry I've had. Been twice recently and both times the staff are friendly and the foods been spot on. Just not keen on the service charged added to the bill.

No se deje engañar por los críticos que describen la comida como insípida, está muy lejos de ser, este es el verdadero negocio y encontrar un auténtico restaurante indio es un cambio agradable.

He revisado el Aarti antes porque nos encanta. Simplemente agregue una nota para decir que ahora están abiertos para el brunch el sábado y el domingo. Fuimos hoy y el menú es completamente diferente del menú de la noche / para llevar.

Got recommended to go + try this Indian restaurant, read reviews as well, good reviews, so went last night , walked up a flight of stairs ( no disabled access), into the restaurant , to our surprise the restaurant was empty, not a good sign, had no atmosphere, only 1kind of rose' wine to choose, we chose the mixed starter to share which had lamb chop on, we were both looking forward to them, but..omg what a disappointment they weren't minted like you get,they were done in some sauce which wasn't nice, fish curry we asked for med, it came that hot it spoilt it, I asked for chips+ to my devastation ( gasp) they didn't do chips, we left most of the meal, but I will say one more thing is that we won't be returning,

Ordered a takeaway from here . Absolutely tasteless.all dishes were a complete disappointment, Even the naan bread was rubbish . All went in the bin. AVOID

Aarti is simply the best Indian restaurant. The food is simply superb. They will cook it to the strength you would like and it is always cooked to perfection. I like my curry's very mild and they can do that - whilst reminding that there will always be a little bit of spice in a curry!

Have never been disappointed when visiting this restuarant. A fairly small facility, but always excellent service and a good choice of freshly prepared dishes with great flavours. Very much recommended. Do not recognise the circumstances described in the recent adverse review. Suspect the reviewer was a challenging diner.

Aarti has been our local authentic Indian favourite for years. But when we returned last week, there was a message reading that they are closed for maintenance. The restaurant downstairs was shut as well. Was disappointed as we have not found a place as good as this anywhere near.

Host mrs prachi made us feel uncomfortable with her attitude and comments.. did not provide us a high chair for infant which was available.. she showed displeasure because we wanted to have Only Main course and not starters..

Ordered a takeaway on Friday, it was that delicious have ordered another one tonight, so did my aunt. All have been equally stunning. Order time is around 50 minutes, all our dishes were hot in temperature, amazingly flavoured and incredibly moorish, their special dish is well worth an order. Outstanding service I cannot wait to go back 5*!!!

i went to this restaurant for the first time the restaurant is on first floor, my wife order vegetable biriyani it was just frozen vegetables mixed with pilau rice. i order Lamb sag little sweet but nice.

Have not been to Aarti in a bit. We have been trying some other places, but returned with family and it was worth the wait. The food was as good as I remembered it to be, if anything better! We tried the rara lamb punjabi and maratha chicken for old times sake and the taste was amazing. We tried some new dishes like paneer tikka masala and mysore masala dosa, after recommendation by the hostess and they were fantastic. The naan and roti were better than what I remember and the curry portion size were just right (also had some for the doggy bag). The hostess was friendly and welcoming, she made us feel at home! The ambience was nice, but definitely the food stole the show! The bill was reasonably cheap. Don't know why we wasted our time (and money) to explore other places. We've learnt our lesson, Aarti is the place to be for a curry (or dosa)!

I kep writing reviews for Aarti based on honesty. Their food is really good and served by a most pleasent host. If you want real home cooked Indian food, this is the place to visit. Not over priced, small but sufficient seating area, i have never waited long for any orders we have placed. This is a place worth visiting and by far my favourite curry house.

My friends and I wanted to try something different than our usual Indian so we decided to attend Aarti on Street Lane and unfortunately we were not impressed. The food took an hour and a half to arrive and when it eventually came, it was cold. We sadly won’t be attending again after poor service and an overall appalling experience.

I've been here several times over the years. Wanted to try the new indian down street lane but they didn't seem interested when we got there, waited for over 20 minutes; granted it was Saturday night and hadn't booked, however decided we were too hungry...

This is my first review , ever , I have to say how much I love the food at this restaurant . I have been eating Indian food all my life , I have used lots of other well known , award winning restaurants , but this is now the only Indian restaurant I go to in leeds , I don't bother going to the better known Bradford restaurants , and I'm never disappointed ..

Had butter chicken and lamb hyderabadi, which were just right in terms of sweetness, spice and flavour - and probably better than other curry houses I have visited in Leeds. Pleased they asked whether we'd like it mild or medium, mild was just fine and still had a hint of spice. The garlic naan and pilau rice were good too - and proper pilau rice, not the multicoloured stuff you often get. Also a decent range of beers in the restaurant. I'll come back for a dosa, which bizarrely is only served Sunday to Thursday according to the menu

Very tasty curry - stands out as a particularly good curry house in the West Yorkshire area. Staff particularly attentive and friendly.

A good friend who knows my love of real Indian food told me about this place and I could not wait to try it. I was not disappointed. I was able to order dishes that I have not seen on a menu since my travels to India and they tasted soooo good. Just how I remembered.

Don't miss eating the Jeera rice in this place. Brought me back memories of India. (The genuine stuff and the pilau rice which is normally served in other restaurants does not stand any chance in competiton). The side portions are very substantial. Ate the vegetable Hyderabadi which was very good. Overall thoroughly recommended. Good chapathis. Excellent service.

This restaurant is an absolute gem. We have gone many times and never been disappointed. The food is excellent in every aspect which goes hand in hand with the customer service. It's not the biggest restaurant but that doesn't matter. We love it and it's most certainly our favourite. The chefs know what they are doing and the owner and waiting staff give 1st class service. I was recommended to try Aarti by a friend a few weeks ago and was not disappointed. The food was amazing, one of the best curry places that I have been to. Staff were really friendly and accommodating. There was a bit of a wait the second time we went there and it was a Monday night and was totally dead though I wasn't too bothered as the food was well worth the wait. The curries were all very fresh and not swimming in ghee like a lot of other places, and the taste was great. You can really make out the flavours of the different spices and the heat is not over powering. The portions are plentiful also so whilst it's not THE cheapest place in the area rest assured you'll not be disappointed by the quality and the experience.

We have been to Aarti several times on street lane and we still have not a wrong word to say about it. The food is Fantastic, fresh and not very expensive. The portion sizes are substantial and we always order too much but not to worry Aarti will pack the food up for you to take home. Another point worth mentioning are the staff. They are great, very friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. We always book as it does get busy at peak times. Thank you Aarti we will be back ASAP..

After visiting this restaurant 3-4 time I can say I have almost tried most of the dishes. Some dishes are really good like dal makhani but others are like readymade frozen served, service is very slow even when the restaurant is not fully booked, on an average food cost £35 - £40 for 2 adults.

The food that Aartis serve is a little different to your 'typical' Indian food which is a refreshing change. Coupled with lovely friendly service, the evening was very enjoyable. The only shame is that I'm sure many people don't know Aartis is there due to the location (above a pizza place).

The service was very slow. The mixed starter was very expensive for what it was. We waited ages for our main course which was ok but we'd lost interest by then. They're excuse for the slow service- lots of take always. The restaurant was only half full. I'd hate to go when it's busy. Disappointing.

The food here was lovely. We ordered papadums 2 curries, 1 naan bread and 1 rice plus 2 beers which came to £35 which isn't too bad. The food arrived quickly and was hot. It was nice to be asked how spicy we wanted it because this is rarely asked in curry houses and I like mine pretty spicy. The naan bread was delicious too. The previous review regarding the rude lady I cannot believe, she was lovely (believe her to be the owner) and I had a nice chat with her and she was genuinely interested in how the food was for us. Only negative I would have to say is the state of the toilets upstairs are not great

We ordered a take out on a Thursday evening. Cost £35 for 2 of us so was expecting good things. Got home and it was absolutely terrible, to the point the starters were not edible. So I politely called and asked the lady if we could return the meal and get a refund. I was told NO and that was 'just how it was!!'No sorry nothing. Absolutely terrible customer service. And to make matters worse when I informed Food Standard Agency they told me they were already under investigation.

The food was delicious and the service was charming, professional and friendly. The paneer palak was exceptional and we loved the after eights too. We'll definitely look forward to visiting again.
