Delhi Wala Food in Leeds

Ordered this after a long trip to pick up from the restaurant under the station. The Chicken 65 Chaat (even take-away) is one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. The Shyam Savera is great too—especially good choice for vegetarians! Beautiful delicate flavours.

We chose Delhi Wala Food to celebrate my birthday evening, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision! The quality of the food was exceptional, and the warm hospitality of the staff made us feel truly welcome. Every dish we ordered was outstanding, easily one of the best we've had in Leeds so far.

Me and my GF live in the city centre and had heard of this place for a number of years before we moved in. You can smell the place before you see it, in the best possible way - the food smells fantastic (even down the street!). I finally visited with a mate of mine after a few pints and promised I’d come back with my better half, sober this time just to be sure ;). The food is the best Indian / south Asian food in Leeds and up there with the best curry I’ve had l. We ordered the Chicken 65 Chaat, absolutely beautiful and tastes even better than it looks: sweet, a little spicy and the chunks of chicken are to die for. We mopped up the remaining sauce with some of the best onion banji I’ve ever had. The mains were just as good, chicken was speasoned beautifully and was tender and fresh. Breads and rice were super tasty too! The staff are incredibly attentive. They ask how hot you’d like your food at point of order and check in to make sure that it’s to your taste. I also witnessed them giving recommendations to customers who hadn’t visited before or didn’t know what to order. Drinks are flowing if that’s your thing (it’s defo mine) and they have a decent booze menu. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcoming upon arrival, were very helpful throughout the meal (without being over bearing) and each thanked us for our patronage when we left. We were the first in the restaurant (6:30 Ona Friday in Jan) but after 15 mins the place was packed out. The music and atmosphere was lovely and made us feel right at home. There’s a reason this place is constantly busy, it’s fantastic and will soon be Leeds worst kept secret. Get in there while you still can!! Amazing food, great staff and a wonderful atmosphere 5/5 get there as soon as you can.

A little gem of an old Delhi style restaurant for those that know, appreciate and can discern about authentic Indian street fayre. Food is beautifully presented and portions are generous. We ordered the non-veg platter to share - the lamb chops were melt-in-mouth and the butterfly prawns tasted as though they were caught that morning. If you’re not planning to visit Leeds, come, if only just for this experience.

Truly 5 star restaurant. Had their Achari Tikka, Hyderabad Biryani, Paneer Tikka Masala and chats. Taste was superb and service was quick and delightful. They gave us a desert and loved the gesture. I would recommend trying this place.

Authentic Indian Street Food Experience We recently had Indian street food, which is a common delight back home in India but quite challenging to find authentically in the UK. In Cornwall, it’s especially hard to come across good, authentic Indian food like what you’d get in Delhi Wala. Since moving to Leeds, we were thrilled to discover this place! The quality and quantity of the food are excellent, the presentation is impressive, and the prices are quite reasonable. I highly recommend trying their Aloo Tikki, which is absolutely delicious, and their Masala Fries, which are also worth a try. The staff is incredibly friendly, especially with kids, which adds to the overall experience. A special thanks to Mr. V, the manager, who is very kind and a truly good man. We accidentally forgot our children's water bottles, and he followed us to hand them back—such a thoughtful gesture! The server lady was also very kind, polite, and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. We will definitely visit again and 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a real taste of Indian street food! Regards Vis.

The food was really disappointing. We ordered their Golgappe samosa chat potato stuffed parantha and onion salad. The parantha was the worst I have ever had. The dough was very thick and not at all soft. The golgappe was pretty average and The samosa chaat was the only saving grace. Don’t even bother ordering the onion salad cos there is literally no effort put into it, pretty much a scam in the name of salad.

Delhiwala was amazing! The lamb Rogan Josh and Paneer Tikka Masala were packed with flavor, and the Rasmalai took me straight back to India. A must-visit for a real taste of home!

Excellent and varied food, original and authentic menu. Great prompt service made this a delicious and friendly meal out. The children’s menu was absolutely great for our nine year old with a starter main and desert. I had really good lamb curry with meatballs (“dumplings” on the menu). All meals come with a choice of mild medium or hot. Would definitely return.

Absolutely fantastic. Came with my partner for tea (our second visit - we will be coming back), we had a starter to share, a fish curry, and a lamb curry, and all were phenomenal. Can't reccomend this place enough, make sure you book to avoid disappointment!
