A1 Foods in Bedford

Visited A1 foods again go every 3 months as I live far, usually have a good experience, Carmine and the brothers are always friendly and polite, how ever the lady behind the cheese counter was rude and acted like she did not want to be there. When I asked for a certain cheese saying I couldn’t see it, she answered “it’s right in front of you “ in a very rude way, then weighed it and handed it to me without saying a word, her customer service skills are non existent. A polite how can I help? Or what would you like would have suffices.

We now use this place regularly, (monthly) they have everything Italian you need, I do get abit carried away pastas, meats, cakes, vegetables, sauces, jars of things I.e chillis, peppers alsorts! They also do wait for it……PIZZA to takeaway very very nice and priced very well.Friendly guys who own it, well I think they own it The only fault I have with this place is that I spend too much money!!!! I love it , best Italian shop I know.

Went to A1 foods on Saturday again service was great food was great. They had live authentic music by a local Italian singing live. Had a panini as weather was to hot for hot food . Keep it up A1 👍🏼👍🏼

Not the first time this has happened...!!! Food is awesome.... Had a calzone and it was fantastic. Service was fab. Turned up and was there. Thank you. Keep it up.

Second time I buy fresh pasta and it’s out of date by two months but I realise it when it’s too late (See picture, today is the 15 November and the pasta went out of date in September, however they were still displaying it a week ago!!!) No one wearing face masks and no hand sanitisers inside their store, the old man slagging me off loud in Italian just cause I asked his son about a price (shame I’m Italian and I understood everything he said!!). Products are overpriced and people working there extremely rude. Absolutely appalling.

Very expensive and father and son are so rude price marking all in wrong places with covid 19 no hand sanitizers staff not wearing masks and when cutting meats not layered properly and divided on paper you ask the for prices and all they say its marked up well yes its marked up but not for the item you are looking at and the son actually said if you dont want we don't care we have made our money if you have made your money why you still working not a good place to buy your groceries these italians put shame on the real genuine italians

Just received my first pizza delivered from you, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Hot, fresh and very tasty. Possibly one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. You have definitely won me over and I will be back 👍👍

Myself and some family ordered pizza tonight and it was the best pizza we have had in Bedford. We won't order anywhere else again ❤️

I discovered A1 Foods back in 2019 whilst looking for an Italian food retailer in Bedford. I find them to be an expert in the field and they have served all my needs ever since. I’ll never go anywhere else.

Brilliant place full of stock and reasonably priced. Highly recommended for your traditional Italian pasta and Italian deli shop. So much fresh food too . Excellent location and service with friendly staff. Highly recommended 👌

Found A1 foods on just eat and didn’t know they done take away pizza. All I can say is what have I been missing. Proper Italian pizzas to die for and excellent service and friendly staff definitely recommend this place. Thank you and I’ll definitely be coming back for more. Forget dominos A1 pizzas is the one

Fantastic selection of Italian food and drink, manage to find stuff here that I only have seen in Italy. Did a lot of Christmas pressie shopping of the liquid variety thereProbably the best thing is that I can buy a fresh made to order arancine (or two) from the hot food counter, really good!Always pop in when I'm working in the area, and will do next time.

We went shopping for our Italian food and visited A1 foods after some excellent recommendation from close family. The range of foods is excellent but on the pricier side. As far as restaurant cum cafe is concerned, I didn’t see any sign of fresh pizza being cooked at lunch time which is what led me there. We ordered arancini and aubergine parmigiana with two coffees. We waited for the food for ages, the arancini arrived but somehow the chap had totally forgotten about the rest of the order which was paid for. The food had been reheated but not fully. Both dishes had areas of heat and areas of freezing cold. I told the old man who seemed to be in charge but he just laughed it off and said that’s how arancini is served. He needs to learn the Italian charm, customer service and good manners. It will help his business.The coffee was nice.So, I might go back for the antipasti, cheeses and wine but certainly not for their food offering. Unless of course there is a huge improvement but based on the poor service I’m not holding my breath....

We were organising a party and decided on an Italian food theme. A1 foods supplied trays of freshly baked Lasagne (meat & veggie), plus my personal favourite Melanzanne Parmigiana. They also made up mini arancini with either ragu and mozzarella or spinach and mozzarella. Their freshly baked focaccia was wonderful and they were able to supply trays of Italian desserts. In addition to supplying party orders, you can order a meal through Just Eat or Deliveroo.Highly recommended.

Friendly and helpful staff always. Amazing food, amazing produce from Italy.. could get lost and shop for hours!

Come here today to try one of there pizzas, now let me tell you I ordered one pepperoni and one margarita pizzas. I have had pizza in Rome , Lecce , Venice and even the home town of pizzas Naples and trust me apart from the Italian sun it was one of the best I have had in little Bedford. A1 food are A1 pizza makers .

Come here for a pizza , I heard it’s like being in Italy apart from the weather, and I must say wow , complements to the pizza maker. You must come and try it . A1 food A1 pizzas

I do not reccomend going as you risk being insulted by a very rude old man. I almost called the police. Disgraceful! No customer care at all. Only 2 nice and helpful guys in there. Feel sorry for them. There are other italian stores I can go to in the area. He won't be seeing my money again.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Bedford, but as soon as anyone discovers them, the word quickly spreads amongst family and friends! I have made people travel from across the country to shop here...
