A1 Fish & Chips in Bolton

A Chippy without Chips !!!! Called in on Sunday at 8pm for a portion of chips - I was told they would be 15 minutes, consequently I went elsewhere so I didn’t have to wait. Shame as this has been our goto Chinese of late but unfortunately we won’t be using them or recommending them again.

What a delicious Chinese meal we have had delivered tonight the king prawn curry was amazing Credit to all that work here & the delivery guy was so polite

the chips and gravy was bloody beautiful but the sausage was not nice (get chips but not sausage) GOOD PORTIONS THO

I can’t understand how this place only has a rating of 3.7. I have been living in Westhoughton for the past few years and having been here 10+ times, the food and service has been 5* every time.

Had we read the reviews prior we probably wouldn’t have gone. However, it was very good. We had fish & chips. The portions were quite sizeable and the fish was HUGE. In summary, pleasantly surprised 👍

Always friendly quick delivery good food

Had fish chips and a portion of curry. The chips were bendy with no colour and under cooked, the fish was over cooked the inside was so dry it was like eating cotton wool. Sorry but l wont get that again from there.

Won't be going any more after tonight's scrappy chips and hard bullet peas. Also, curry was like hot water, vinegar way to strong.good luck

Tried tonight for the first time in years, was great when the old couple had it, gone downhill, chips were rock hard can’t even be arsed to fry them long enough, pants pulled down again! Also service had no manners.

Great food, chinese, Malaysian,English, loads of choice and friendly staff.

I’ve never had any problems with food good staff polite even delivery is good

Food is ok, quite tasty. Some issues with delivery/missing items but these were quickly resolved. I would use them again. Latest order, awful fish. Food has deteriorated in quality.

Best salt and pepper ribs ever.

Very nice place, may have a bit of a wait when busy, recommend the fried shreeded chilli beef, sweet noodle box and salt pepper chips.

They are dirty not clean you better go somewhere else

The noodle hot boxes are a must to have. Get a lot for your money

Been frequent customer for 30 years will never come here again new recruitment/ change of staff are 0. Only take cash big alarm bells food was one of the worst chinese takeaways in my life,its now in the bin. English lady working there I would not speak to a dog the way they spoke to her. Never again please do not go they are sad robbing splitlinks

Generous portions good service reasonably priced

Definitely one of the bigger selections of oriental food around, from rice and noodle boxes to more regular menu items and fish and chips. Suggest you look at the whole menu rather than just ordering the usual.

The chips are awful full of grease and a lot if small bits .. Not sure if it's been taken over ..

Staff are lovely here, very helpful, service was quick, food was lovely, just what I needed at the time and the pricing for their food is good too. Can recommend

Eating a noodle box its lovley and has some salt and pepper Love them but not good for the hips 😕

Best fish and chips around great staff and not much of a wait

It was rubbish customer service and they had got my order wrong and gave me salt and Pepper chips instead of normal chips , they were for kids and i was also overcharged and they wouldn't admit they had got my order wrong. I asked if we could change them but they refused and were arguing with me. Won't be going there again.

It's been a while since visiting this chippy as it was always our favourite. Probably about 18 months and in that time it looks like it's changed owners. The food was awful because whatever they are cooking with makes food taste like its laced with salt. I had sausage chips and gravy and son had meat pie chips and gravy. We couldn't eat our food because the gravy was like gloopy black oil that was so salty, even the dog threw it up when I gave him my left over sausage and gravy. Sorry but we won't be visiting again I'm sad to say.

Horrible anaemic chips, hardly any peas and black gravy that looked like it had come out of an oil sump. Used to be a great chippy until it turned chinese, I'll never visit again

Food not bad but not a lot of choice of Chinese food

We ordered food and when it arrived it was completely incorrect. When I rang to tell them the lady said she wouldn’t deliver the correct order as they were busy, even though we had paid and they even had the cheek to charge me a delivery fee...shocking. STAY AWAY

Bit disappointed - salt and pepper wings not as good as from my usual place.

Best takeout in Westhoughton! Delicious oriental food with staple favourites like Beef in Oyster Sauce, but also more usual (but equally tasty) dishes like Langkawi Sea Spiced Beef. Chippy is good, too! Excellent delivery times and friendly staff.

Not bad food....quite pricy and ended up giving me stomach cramp pretty bad...
