A1 Chip Stop in Bolton

Called I'm for 1 large portion of chips priced £3.80 + 1 foot long sausage priced £2.50. Foreign young lad said that is £6.50. So I said no it's £6.30 to which he said it's 20p for a carrier bag I said but I never asked for one or dis you actually asked if I would like a bag. I guess that's one way of squeezing extra money out of customers. Also the chips when we got home were disgusting rubbery as though they were Fridays left overs As surely with A1 only opening at teatime now on a Saturday then I can't understand why chips would be awful when we went at 5.30. Will not be returning ever again now. No wonder the shop was empty

Tonight was our 1st visit to A1 chippy , and in comparison to other previously used chippys, A1 was OUTSTANDING. The amount of fish , the chips quality and the curry / peas extra portion were huge . Service was swift and polite, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the vicinity.

Best chippy ever!The lady (well all staff) are always happy and uplifting!My little girl absolutely loves her Friday treat.My brother came from Bristol, and even he said its the best chippy!Beautiful people and beautiful traditional food!

Think this fish shop is due to be closing soon ! Food is okay ish nothing special ! On my last two visits I was over charged by more than a pound ! They don’t take cards ! They have now started charging 20p for a paper bag, Very poor ! Think they are trying to penny pinch in every way Wouldn’t be surprised if the place closes soon Will not be using this chippy again any time soon If you want a great chippy use Blue Anchor further up Chorley New Road, really good !

A1 by name A1 by nature - best takeout in the north… use to live closer. Now I drive just to get it! Lovely women behind the counter always service with a smile.

Always friendly and the food is great, best chippy in Horwich. I use the A1 at least once a week and will never go anywhere else.

Im surprised this place still opens for service, it may be that there is no other close by. personally i would not pay my hard earnded money for their offerings. sooner it has competition the better.

The fish and chips from A1 are consistently excellent with very helpful and efficient staff - it is my go-to takeaway.

Been a few times here and it’s been ok but this last time the chips were just small scrappy bits with no taste at all.the fish was tasty and nicely battered.Staff were pleasant and the place is clean.

Have been using this chippy for over 40 yrs. I will always call here before any other in the town , if it is open. Places change hands but the grvy recipe is passed down. I have aquired a taste and i stick with it. I hope you enjoy

Moved back to Horwich couple years ago & this was first chippy we tried & now they do a small Potion & its real value for money & taste sooooo good

Good size portions good service clean what more is to be said about a chip shop just go and try. Easy to park on road

I ordered 1x small portion of sausage and chips and 1x regular portion of the same with gravy, and it was really nice. The gravy was lovely and just the right consistency. My son loved his meal and ate every last chip! Good prices too, less than a fiver for both meals. The staff were lovely and patient with me too, as we had to find a working cash machine which took around 20 minutes, and the food was piping hot when we got home. Very much recommended.

Lovely lightly battered fish, loads of hot chips, peas not very good, hard. Lovely staff who served me. Would recommend this choppy.

Great little chippy with lots on the menu. Food warm and good place looked spotlessly clean. It is very reasonable price. We bought 3 meals all different all tasted as good as each other. I will eat from here again

This used to be a really good chippy but is now quite poor. I went afew months ago and put most of my food in the bin. I was passing again so thought maybe they had an off day last time i called, but no it's still poor. White chips are so soft they turn into mash. Barm was slightly stale and they got my order wrong. Won't be giving them another chance.
