On a first visit to Lyme Regis (after too many years!) noticed this restaurant as we walked by. I thought the menu looked good, my wife spotted it was bring your own wine - what's not to like? Place was very busy on a Saturday, mostly for takeaways, but we were happy to sip our wine and enjoy our food while joshing with Kar, who has a great sense of humour. We had to promise him we would return - and we will!

Popped in to this restaurant, which apparently closes at 2300, at 2220 to be told they were closed, for both eating in and take-a-ways. Worse, they looked at me, spoke to me and treated me like I was something unpleasant In which they had just stepped. I would avoid this establishment at all costs. Zero respect for their clientele.

We are in Lyme for a week and ordered a take out. It arrived hot and timely and was delicious. Huge portions. We had Chicken Dansak and Garlic Chilli Chicken which were both lovely. We are from Birmingham so we are spoiled for excellent Indian cuisine and this was up there! Thank you

We stopped in to eat on Saturday early evening after a nice afternoon in Lyme after having been recommended by our Air BnB accom that their takeaway was good. Unfortunately the meal was somewhat spoiled by the incredibly unwelcoming and rudeness of the head waiter who seemed to have been insulted in some way that we had chosen to eat there. No matter how polite and engaging we attempted to be his demeanor never changed and seem to be glowering at my wife. The meal in fairness was nice and it is also a bring your own drinks establishment as they have no licence. Weirdly though when a local popped in to collect a takeaway he turned into a completely different character....maybe he just doesn't like tourists......So sorry I cannot recommend the restaurant to anyone unfortunately. Perhaps the gentleman should seek an alternative career

The Chicken Korma and the Peshwari Naan were the takeaway highlights. The vegetable briyani and accompanying curry were very good as well. The service on the phone was great and we even got a joke about Boris Johnson thrown in. We would definitely go there again for takeaway.

Good food at a great price. The restaurant could use a little work but is clean and tidy. The food was really tasty, I had Ada Donia which I would highly recommend. The reason for 4 stars over 5 was just due to the customer service. Phone calls for takeaways were taken very loudly and quite rudely. Our server wasn't blatantly rude to us but when some local people came in his service to them was a cut above. We were asked if we wanted a quick meal and weren't really sure what that meant, I think the server had an issue with tourists. I completely understand this as some people are rude but we really aren't those people. Its a shame because the food was yummy. We were both surprised by the price too - we had a starter, curry, naan, rice, 4 poppadoms and dips all for £55!

I didn’t taste India neither did I taste alcohol as this place isn’t licensed to sell it. We were simply told to go to Tesco and bring in our own drinks. Upon arrival we were showed to a filthy table that had clearly just been used ; after refusing to sit there I could tell the restaurant waiter was not happy. His service was poor verging on unprofessional at times. I also used the bathroom where I found it to be unclean The decor, far from Indian, leaves an impression of “I can’t be bothered to paint the walls look” and the Henry hoover left next to our table did not provide us with the restaurant experience we had hoped for. Over all the food was bland Decor very dated and drab Staff rude, Not professional and far from attentive We were the only customers in this restaurant and I cannot at all say I’m surprised. We won’t be back. Apologises but not for me. Does not have own parking facility either. 2 out of 5 stars

On holiday and walked in to the restaurant that was stuck in the 90’s and not in the good way, A member of staff just looked and pointed at a table that was still dirty, after saying no we want to sit somewhere else we walked the other end of the restaurant and took a seat at a table to be then asked if we wanted to move to another table that had a Henry hoover next to it. The waiter barley spoke to us and was made to feel very unwelcome. When the food was brought out it was just placed very firmly on the table, was not even asked who ordered what dish, no one asked if the food was okay which the food was okay. When coming to collect the food he just grabbed with his hands a large piece of chicken and chucked it on another plate which caused splatter, then just started saying “fork, knife, plate” whilst pointing!!! Would not go back or recommend. Also as not advertised you need to bring your own drinks.

We ordered a takeaway on Saturday night and were told it would be 1 hour delivery time. We chased the order after 90 minutes and were aggressively told IT’S ON ITS WAY!! We chased it again nearly 2 hours later and again were told it’s on its way very rudely - we’re only 3 miles from Lyme Regis. Ordered a pizza instead. Would’ve rated it zero but that wasn’t an option.

August 2021 holidaying with my partner in Lyme Regis. First night dinner, having seen the adverts down in town and located close to our Guest House we chose this Indian as we love Indian food. Took 40mins to get served. In fact a family came in 20mins after us and were served way before us!! Food arrived cold. The coke was warm. Our different dishes tasted the same. The table was wobbly so I put a napkin under the legs to stop our drinks sloshing around. The table felt sticky. The staff were inattentive AND the walls needed some cleaning attention. Sorry guys! Very disappointing.

Ok the restaurant is in need of a a coat of paint and new carpet etc. but the food and service was excellent. Well, just come back from a meal here and what a disappointment. (We live in Lyme so not a tourist) I came here ages ago and it was awful but thought it fair to give them another go.First of all whoever thought painting the walls lime green was a good idea wants to go to specsavers.. The walls are in poor condition, marked, skirting board in places rotten, the carpet needs ripping up and burning it's so manky! The food is frankly disgusting we complained about the quality but carried on with the main which was equally vile. We left it all, paid and walked out we weren't interested in a discount so paid the full bill, we just wanted to leave. This place is clearly run by people who have zero idea of how to cook a good Indian dish. have zero care in how the place looks or the quality of the ingredients they use it's also expensive. I honestly think someone thought hey shall we open an indian for a laugh.... The 'Chef' is clearly not a chef but someone with basic kitchen skills which is transferred to how awful the food he makes is. Ultimately Lyme regis is an awesome place with some amazing food. This place is a blot on the landscape and wants closing down! Simply put GO ELSEWHERE!!

Where do I even start... Me and my partner booked this place as we were looking for some nice food in Lyme Regis. We walked into this place and both thought the same.. Oh jeez what have we walked into. Old walls and dingy carpet, tied with what can only be described as 'Village hall/ old school' tables and chairs and no atmosphere. The waiter asked us what we wanted to drink and seemed pretty rude. We didn't realise this wasn't a licensed restaurant so we just had some tap water and coke. We were brought a refilled Evian bottle and a flat cola. Our food was actually okay, but again we felt the service was just rude, pushy. To top it off, the only other customers either side of us were pretty loud and couldn't stop debating Brexit! Cheap Indian, probably would suggest takeaway instead of eating in.

My vote would be 3.5 if available. A family group of 10 adults, we visited A Taste Of India for dinner. I was nervous as I had read the reviews about the decor, and expectations of the long weekend away were high, this being the first night. The last thing on the family menu was a duff night out! We were generally pleasantly surprised. The decor was acceptable, the carpet looked relatively clean, and the tablecloth and cutlery/crockery were spotless. We received a friendly greeting (the restaurant wasn’t busy), and settled down to order from a comprehensive menu. We were quickly offered poppadoms with pickles: they were good.

Visited Taste of India as the other, more prominent Indian restaurant in Lyme was fully booked. Ended up being pleased this was the case as the meal was excellent, all dishes superb and overall the food was superior. The restaurant is very, very bright, they could do with dimming the lighting and also adding table cloths, even paper ones, as these two actions would ease the slight cafeteria feel one gets. A great and reasonably priced meal.

The deal-breaker for me was my starter of King Prawn Puree, which I have had many times in the past. Filthy floor, dirty tables, chairs, window sills, rude and dismissive staff. Didn’t stay, a blot on Lyme Regis town.

I phoned for a delivery and went thru the menu I required, all done easily and very friendly and polite on the telephone. Paid by card over the phone. Delivery arrived in the specified time by a kind driver with a pleasant smile. The food was hot, packed well. and was excellent. the lamb madras was hot, aromatic and very tasty, excellent crisp poppadum's, tarkha dahl, perfect and aloo ghobi that was delicious. the price was just right. Cannot fault the food or service, I live primarily in Portugal and I had been really looking forward to this special dinner and I was not disappointed. We have Indian restaurant's in Portugal but must admit this is way better than there and at a much better price too, thoroughly recommend .

Could not get the restaurant to listen to us when trying to explain where we are. Driver could not find us but did not phone us. Around 45 minutes later after several calls to the restaurant we got his phone number he was just sitting in his car. I still had to go and find him as he would not listen to my explaining how to find us. When it eventually arrived food was average to poor. Very disappointing

The unassuming frontage holds a real treat. Our dinner here was very good. The prices are very reasonable and the menu extensive, so something for every taste and spice level. Our meal was very filling and had we stayed in Lyme Regis for longer I am sure we would have made a second visit here.

We've had several take aways from here and absolutely love their curries. They are very flavoursome and with a good bite if you like hot ones. Next time we holiday here we'll definitely be paying another visit here.

After a day out and not wanting to cook on our 31st, we fancied a cosy takeaway Indian meal.

Evening time we were interested to take indian food and someone reommend this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered some popadoms, starters, chicken and lamb dishes with rice and naan breads. They took the order and serve the food very politely. All food were fresh and tasty. All of my family members were happy to take the food. I wiil simply say "excellent service and excellent food".

We booked a table for a group of 30 of us to celebrate a special birthday of one of the guests. We were not disappointed!, Despite us being very loud and raucous the staff did an absolutely amazing job in getting all the different meals out at the same time and all hot and correct. The food was excellent and the staff were very efficient and friendly!! We had a fantastic evening and would really recommend this restaurant for any size group.

Food was fine - quite tasty but nothing to write home about. They charge a lot for poppadoms and dips which was a bit of a disappointment. The restaurant itself is shabby and dated which might add character except for the staff are so abrupt that they verge on rude. The place was quite empty but we felt rushed.

Had a takeaway from here after a couple of hours playing with dog on the beach so was really hungry. Average food but tasty not the best ever but definetly not the worse. Would use it again.

My first experience of this restaurant although I’ve heard great things from a friend who lives locally. On this occasion we had a takeaway. My chicken tikka Marsala was delicious and I enjoyed the poppadoms with pickle pots - a first for me. I hope to return when next visiting Dorchester and have a full restaurant meal.

Not the best takeaway I've ever had the biryani was lacking in taste and any meat I think I found one piece of chicken! Rice was nice

New owners and what a great meal we had. Currently living in the Midlands and we have a superb range of great curry houses. Not often I come across a menu where I want to try such a range of dishes, it took us ages to pick our choices. They do all of the usuals from tikka Madala to Rogan Josh. In addition there are really interesting Indian dishes including lobster, squid and beef rump. The three of us chose 2 starters and 3 mains between us. The trio of chicken was delicious, even though one of them was bright green! The lamb strips were fabulous, like a minted red current jelly lamb with an Indian twist. If you like a rich slightly sweet curry the lamb and apricot could be for you. My sis had the lamb shank which just fell off the bone. Ann loved her New Delhi chicken which was creamy and full of flavour. The Naan was some of the best I’ve had, light and crisp and the mushroom rice was another triumph. We will definitely eat here again, I’m a real foodie and this was such a lovely surprise, great food, £21 a head with drinks, bargain!
