A Month of Sundaes in Kirklees

We had a fantastic late lunch at Mario’s. A delicious vegetarian burger and a very tasty ham and cheese panini. Staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly. Everything perfect and e value for money, we will be back very soon! Thank you!

Had a few eating options in Marsden whilst on a weekend visit stay at Dovestone Holiday Village, but my daughter (not a child, she 22 🤭😂)liked the options at Mario's and we weren't disappointed. Hubby had cream tea - fruit scone was huge and delicious warmed up. Pot of tea was good size too. My daughter's friend had loaded nacho's - again good size and delish. My daughter and I had soup (curried carrot and lentil) amazing flavour with a couple of slices of rustic bread 😋 Customer service was spot on...if we were ever visiting again, would definitely keep this place in mind 😁

After searching high and low for somewhere to grab something that wasn’t too heavy but everywhere being closed, one of the staff members ran out (even though they were no longer serving food) and offered to make us a sandwich or panini. Got a sandwich and it was amazing! So appreciated especially since they didn’t have to, we’ll be back! (In opening hours this time). Thank you!

Met a friend here for lunch today - what a lovely diner this is! Friendly staff, great service. Nice and cosy place. Food was spot on. Definitely returning for another visit soon!

I always enjoy visiting here for an ice cream and a pot of tea with my boys. Great choice of ice creams and great service. Before we could sit down they cleaned and disinfected the table and chairs. That was reassuring to see. Thank you

We have eaten here a few times, when it was called month of sundaes. It never disappoints. They now have excellent covid measures in place and the ice cream is still as good as it ever was. Our particular favourite is the millionaire sundae. Service is always quick and efficient even when busy. And a generously sized icecream sundae for less than £6. Well worth a trip

This little gem serves excellent coffee and the food is freshly made and tasty. But what makes this cafe are the staff who are always smiley and happy to see you. When your on your own it’s nice that the staff take time to ask you how you are. 5 stars for service

I have called in to this place several times in the past month. Great cafe but some of the staff look bored and are not very welcoming. Otherwise, it’s a lovely building and does some great food.

This lovely cafe is a great place to meeet friends. It sells lovely tea, coffee, cakes, icecream snacks and light meals. The staff are always nice , nothing too much trouble, and they never rush you away. go there often to meet friends.

Called in for a light lunch today, but 2 ladies serving didn’t smile and looked bored. Food was good.I understand if you don’t feel well or have a hangover, but simply not engaging with customers and appearing disinterested is no way to encourage repeat business.... in fact we won’t be back!After speaking with one of the ladies, to try and find if there was a problem, I asked “is everything ok, you look like something is wrong, or you’re not happy” The reply came from the turned down mouth of a fairly stern face “no, it’s fine why?” Not sorry, not wow I hadn’t realised, not thank you for telling me !I do hope the owner doesn’t know how they carry on

Definitely would not find it here ! It is a year since I have been back , this time bringing my grandson. Weather so awful we needed cheering up . I told him they sold the best ice cream within miles . Unfortunately from walking in ,all was down hill ...... no acknowledgment even though plenty of staff and not full . After 15 minutes got up to give our order one mini sundae and one toffee fudge with hot sauce . Completely uninspiring, seriously makes Mc Donald s look luxurious. The hot sauce non existent , ice cream tasteless and fudge must have been so ‘fudged off ‘ tasted like bullets . At almost £10 for the two not an enjoyable experience. Hopefully you can take this onboard as constructive as don’t want to write you off .

Amazing choice of ice creams, made on the premises. Brilliant chocolate sundae. Very friendly staff. Handily situated opposite the Riverhead pub so well-positioned to provide dessert (the Riverhead probably does excellent desserts but I did not have room for one without a walkabout!). Wish we lived nearer!!

Although I live in Marsden and am perhaps biased, A Month of Sundaes is definitely worth a visit by all visitors to the village. Although there are many flavours to choose from, my absolute favourite is lemon curd ice cream and any friends or relations visiting us are taken there as a matter of course.

If you are an Ice Cream fanatic this is the place for you.I didn't know a 7 year old could consume ice cream faster than me.

After a walk we wanted refreshments. After a cocktail from a nearby bar we found this place. How we’ve missed it before I don’t know, but the Sundae menu was not only extensive but interesting! Spoilt by choice we chose and ordered coffees too. Staff were efficient and friendly and on a Sunday afternoon it was busy too- though we got a table straight away. The Rocky Road Sundae I had exceeded expectations, a mix of interesting flavours which meant we finished the lot. The prices were reasonable too and we’ll definitely be back. Coffee was decent, but it was the Sundaes that stood out to me.

I've been a few times now and the staff are always friendly and helpful, this was no different. Great food here and there is always a great atmosphere without it being overly busy.

Over Christmas we came across this cafe after a walk in marsden. We needed a coffee but didn't know if any one would accommodate 2 pushchairs. This little gem (not so little) has an upstairs and did get us all in. 3 coffees 4 ice creams and a mince tart £13 amazing value well done month of sundaes you have it right will be coming back and bringing friends.

Family lunch in Marsden with plenty of choices for all needs. Burgers and ice-cream as well as hot drinks the most popular and to be honest not very dear in price.

The relaxed and friendly atmosphere is second to none. I really enjoyed my Toasted Sandwich with a Large Fresh cup of coffee and Chocolate sprinkled on top.

Visited last Sunday. Previously enjoyed excellent ice cream so a return visit with friends. Ice cream ok ... Apple pie portion a little anorexic and very miserable staff. No please or thank yous. Upstairs lots of uncleared tables and ended up clearing my own. Disappointing.

Took my grandchildren for a treat. Ice creams are great with plenty of choice. Coffee is nice too, especially with a scone on the side x

We’ve been quite a few times, I’m never wowed by the food but it’s nice. I had Brie cranberry and rocket panini which was ok, not enough Brie in my opinion and too much cranberry, this is personal taste I guess. Also it is just the panini no coleslaw or side salad or anything. My son had the bbq chicken burger which he said was ok but wouldn’t bother with again, the actually bbq sauce wasn’t on the chicken or in the bun but in a small dish in the side. Again I guess personal choice but at £5.15 for the burger with nothing else it did seem expensive.

We were spending the afternoon rambling on the moors so wanted to start with a great lunch and maybe an ice-cream treat.

We took our baby and dog here for a bite to eat. The service was really good and the staff are very polite. The Sunday’s are great with tons of choice and the savour menu is good value and tasty.

Had tomato soup- best ever- and broccoli- almost as good- and various sandwiches.... friendly staff, excellent service and fresh ingredients. Thoroughly recommended

3 of us ate lunch here. Very welcoming , prompt service and nice food. The tuna & ham salads were very nicely presented and were both good. The £1.75 for 2 rounds of bread and butter were a little expensive IMO. However Earl Grey tea and other special teas all same price as breakfast tea. They specialise in a variety of sundaes but we did not try any. Would definitely eat here again when in Marsden.

We meet most Friday's for a catchup at month of sundaes the staff are very welcoming and the coffee is great.

Nice ice cream when popped in with a friend on saturday. I have been for lunches in the past and the food is good too.

We have lunch at A Month of Sundaes quite often and love the food there. There is a good choice and the staff are friendly. The ice cream sundaes are superb. Just one gripe, why do they (and many other places, to be fair) serve sandwiches with a gloopy filling (like my recent egg mayonnaise) on a plate with a paper napkin under the sandwiches. It is most unhygienic and you end up with disintegrated dark green tissue stuck to your sandwich. It was compounded this last time by not being given a separate napkin for my sticky fingers. Apart from this, it is one of the best lunch places in Marsden, in my opinion.

I was in the area and decided to go in for lunch. I was quickly served my hot chocolate , then didn’t have long to wait for my goats cheese salad , that was lovely, and looked very nice. I also had the chocolate berry Sunday , it was very nice, but the frozen strawberry’s spoilt it a little , but it was still nice. I’d go again if I was in the area.

Favourite of mine in marsden never had a single issue, staff are brilliant attentive and chatty the parlour itself is always clean and inviting such a pleasure to visit keep up the good work :-)

Only stopped here for a take out ice cream, but did have a quick look around and at the menu for a possible future visit. The service was quick and polite and the ice cream was wonderful. There was a whole list of sundaes on the wall. Could be a challenge to work though them :)

Love this place. Been with work colleagues who enjoy the ice cream after enjoying a few pints at the nearby brewery pub. Been with my wife we go out of our way to come here. Ice cream is lovely and reasonably priced. Staff are so welcoming.

After a lovely ride out over the moors we dropped down into marsden, we called in for coffee and a cake, plenty of choice, there is also a good menu if something more substantial is needed, different flavoured ice creams are also available, lovely seat in the window to watch the comings and goings, very nice staff, premises spotless, they also display local art upstairs which is worth a look

Love this place but fed up of being overcharged. I am a registered childminder and every school holiday we visit the ice cream parlour as it is one of the children's favourites. This is the third time I've been over charged for goods. Last time they threw in two ice creams that we hadn't had and yesterday another currant tea cake was added on! I had my hands full with 6 children, one of them being a very active 15 month old. I don't expect to have to check my receipt and complain every time I go! it was only in the evening when filing receipts that I noticed it. its not worth the 5 mile journey back to claim my refund "again". I have marked them down because of this issue, I wander how many others this happens to?

12 walkers called here for lunch after being let down with our booking at another place in Marsden.we were not expecting much because we were 12 people just dropping in and we thought it was mainly for coffee and ice cream.

Come here often after walks on Marsden Moor. There is a great range of scones, ice cream and cakes to choose from, and upstairs there is The Lounge with sofas to relax in. Really nice place to go after a tiring walk!

Went for Lunch food was ok but was spoilt by the fact the door was open and we were sat in draft we had our coats on and so did other customers i went and shut the door and said to one of the staff it was freezing and she said that we will have to open it again because it gets too hot for the staff. the door was opened again after a couple of minutes and it didn't get chance to get warm. While I appreciate the need to keep cool while working their disregard for the customers was quite appalling it spoilt our lunch because we had had to rush it and won't be going back again.

I miss this place, used to come every weekend when I lived in Marsden.

A lovely range of quick bites. Panini's very nice. The only critism is that you do not get any garnish as standard and have to pay separately for salad, fries, or dips so it can look very reasonable but once you have added all these things it bumps up the price. Staff friendly. Nice place for lunch.

We visited for a half term treat having seen good reviews. Cafe is good location, well set out and clean. The girl who served us was very friendly. The coffee was also good. Sadly the food let the place down. When I ordered I checked that the waffles were made fresh having been to cafes before and being served packet ones that are toasted. I was informed that they use the pre packaged ones so I decidedly have pancakes as did my daughter. Surely they are freshly made? I never asked. A little later another waitress came to say they only had enough pancakes for one serving so I said to give them to my daughter and I would look for something else. My daughter's pancakes quickly arrived and although she enjoyed the ice cream she did not like the pancakes. I tasted them and they were really cold, either they serve them cold or do not warm them up well. They did have a bit of a funny taste as if they may have been next to something with a stronger taste. They either make them in advance and freeze or buy them in. This place has got great potential, pancakes and waffles are so easy to make and are delicious served fresh and warm. Yes I should have said something but nobody actually asked about how the food was, nobody came back to ask what I wanted instead of pancakes do in the end I just went and asked for a refund after deciding not to bother with food.

Had lunch here with family. Latte's were lovely with nice frothy tops - all brought to the table by friendly staff. My son said his chai latte was one of the best he had had in a long time. Food delicious as ever. Soups were tasty accompanied with a fresh bread wedge. Lovely panini and ciabatta's crammed with fillings. Made room for an excellent ice cream waffle cone. Strawberry ice cream proper tasty. Will be back soon.

Went here bank holiday monday. Had a lovely pannini and side salad, the coleslaw was amazing. Daughter had chicken burger and said it was the best shed ever had. Followed this up with a fruit sundae, it was huge and delicious. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly, and excellant service with lovely staff

We had lunch here, a were a large group. The service was very good indeed with friendly staff who genuinely wanted to help. The meals all arrived together and without fail were all really good quality. I had the burger and it was one of the best I've had!

Visited a friend here. Lovely food. Only thing is that menu said dairy free ice cream available but it was only sorbets. My son has a milk allergy. He wasn't keen on sorbet. So if you can do some dairy free ice cream too I would give 5 stars

After a big hotel breakfast did not need much for lunch. Found this place and had an super sundae of their home-made ice cream. And very good value.

Having left disappointed the Beer Tap across the road, I cheered myself up with a nice glass sundae dish of homemade ice cream. The ice cream was subtly flavoured but creamy and nicely presented and served by a friendly face. Downstairs was busy but there was ample space upstairs for reading and writing and waiting for showers to pass. The menu was a nice mix of old fashioned family favourites and coffee, panini, waffles and pancakes (which sounded like they were worth returning for).

We go quite often with the in-laws. Great menu and very child friendly. Fantastic range of icecreams and puddings to die for

every sunday our six grandchildren love this place.the icecreams in a glass taken upstairs is a real tread for the kids.

We popped in here last Sunday, as we were walking along the canal. I had a Banana milkshake which was made with fresh banana and fab vanilla ice cream!! It was superb! My husband had some ice cream which was also fab!

Called in here before going for a long walk over the moors up to various reservoirs. Lady showed us the walks she recommended, which were a great choice, and we followed one of the choices, which was a really good walk.

My kids love the icecream here, the flavours don't seem to ever change though which would make it more interesting. But if you're looking for calories that pack a punch! The desserts are amazing. We like to come every so often for a treat. :)

I took a group of 7 sweaty teenage boys to this cafe today after they'd been playing football and I was so impressed by the staff and food. I'd booked some tables and the waitresses couldn't have been more helpful; coming to take the orders and delivering the food at the same time, very efficiently.

We came here for lunch and was looking forward to a homemade burger. The bread was rather stodgy and the burger was disgusting. All I could taste was grease.

Ice cream done right. Had a big breakfast burger to sober us up, ice cream after. Took pride in the drinks menu too, great staff and quirky deco.

Popped in today for a quick cuppa. Singularly the worst cup of (bought) coffee I've ever tasted; harsh, bitter flavour with the aroma of cheap and nasty perfume. The staff were agreeable enough without being overtly friendly. My wife had a hot chocolate but it was much more sugar and syrup than cocoa. Judging by the other reviews this may well have just been an unlucky one off. It will be the only time we visit for sure.

We have been a couple of times now. Although only had drinks and ice creams the menu is awsome so we will be back. Great variety. Lovely, clean and staff friendly. Perfect for a family trip out on a weekend as something for everyone.

My local place to go. Two floors of: high chairs, low chairs, movable chairs, tables to push together, plenty of elbow room and ambient music that is just that: ambient. A genuinely warm welcome from the staff and relaxing place to be.

This place is makes excellent ice cream and also delicious meals and coffee. Its in a lovely village on the main street. Its very popular.

One of our usual haunts, a few of us go on a regular weekly basis and enjoy a light lunch. We are always greeted with smile from the staff, whom we have got to know quite well over time. We are always served to the table which is nice and very rarely have to wait for long.

Oh wow. I had a chicken and bacon panini melt and a banofee sundae, my fiancé had tuna melt panini and a meringue sundae. The panini were beautiful and the sundaes out of this world, they were gorgeous 😃

Visited month of sundaes today with my son who has a severe peanut allergy . The staff were excellent ensuring they had a fantastic knowledge of the ingredients and also cross contamination of products . It has been the first time my son has been able to eat ice-cream out . Many thanks for such a special treat !!!!!!! We will be back soon !

Come here usually once a week or more with group of friends. We always receive a warm welcome, our preferences are remembered and as long as they have the ingredients anything can be made up. Soups are outstanding and ice cream to die for. All made by lovely owner Tracy. Staff are cheerful and courteous, meals well-presented. Highly recommended.

It was our second visit to this cafe in the centre of Marsden. Great prices and fantastic food! They offer a wide range of cold and hot sandwiches. The side salad is one of the best I have ever had and it was just £1.00! The desserts look great and taste great. The waffles (with a choice of ice cream, strawberries, berries or banana) are our personal favouriite! Highly recommended!

Best ice cream parlour in the area. The coffee's good too and so are the lunches. Friendly helpful staff, and art and photography exhibitions upstairs. Definitely worth a visit. I'll be back soo.

I often take my children here for an after school treat. My son loves trying all the different favoured ice cream and hasn't found one he doesn't like and my daughter who doesn't do dairy very well loves that they have sorbets which means she can enjoy it too. Top place :)

We enjoyed a great burger type lunch here whilst on a celebratory day out with friends and family. It does what it does really well - proper good sized sandwiches and burgers with salads and fries on the side. Followed by hot drinks and cake - just what we wanted. We'd def go again.

The place is small and specialises in ice cream. The atmosphere is nothing special and the layout is a bit cramped. But the food is very special. The home-made burgers are tasty and filing, the pulled pork is substantial and we'll flavoured. The sides are worth getting, especially if you like a good home made onion ring. We had two good meals for a total of less than £20, and at that you can't complain.

Visited with my brother and niece from Harrogate . They were very impressed , definitely be visiting again.

I decided to visit this cute little cafe with my parents and partner. We had spent the day walking around the canals of marston in the red hot weather and fancied some lunch.

Visited Marsden on 9th April, never been before and enjoyed a nice but tiring walk. Afterwards we headed to the main street for something to eat. "A Month of Sundaes" caught our eye as it looked clean and inviting. We went in and sat upstairs. Viewing the menu I chose the mushroom melt burger, a side of onion rings and a latte. The food arrived at our table relatively quickly and looked really nice. On tasting it was as nice as it looked and cooked to perfection. Finished off with an ice cream while sat in the easy chairs just rounded the burger off nicely.

We were a group of 6 that appreciated the space on the first floor today (parents, son and daughter in law and two granddaughters. There was a very wide range of lighter meals for us to choose from; meals arrived very quickly and were enjoyed by all of us. Every staff member was efficient and friendly - used glasses, plates etc were removed as soon as they'd been emptied - and the ice creams (made on the premises) were to die for!

Have visited this restaurant several times now and always had good service. Food and coffee excelent. During last summer visited a couple of times with grandchildren for ice cream. Very popular. Would highly recommend.

Love visiting here with the kids. The staff are awesome! So helpful and have had to help my kids before when one lost the other when they took a trip together here. Food us lovely and home made. Ice creams are lush!
