Have been to this restaurant three times now. Lovely, friendly, funny staff. The food is of a better standard than most of the expensive, "up their own backsides" restaurants in the Newcastle area. High quality, authentic Italian dishes. For a more than reasonable price. Good wine selection. All in all, unbeatable. Quite like it me. 😎

A simple restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff members. The menu is simple with all of the Italian classics listed, it is superb value for money. I was very impressed with the starters that were on offer, the potato skins and goats cheese were lovely. There was also delicious fresh bread served. The mains were not the best, we asked for an ingredient to be removed and they confirmed that was ok but it was included. The mains were average. I'd visit again but choose a 'safer' option from the menu next time

Had lunch here a number of times with hubby and have never been disappointed. The staff are welcoming and friendly, good value for money. I have recommended this to friends who share my view. The only criticism I have is that the menu does not offer gluten free meals as the norm, although they always cater to your needs. Give it a go you wont be disappointed.

Greeted by the owner as we entered, we were made to feel at ease, I get the feeling it's a family run place, service was fast despite there being a table of 20 eating at the same time, the owner was very hands on coming over to the table every 10 mins to check up on us, a chef even popped his head out the kitchen to check up on the tables he could see which was a nice touch, good food and excellent service will advise it to any one !

Me and my partner were away on a pre Christmas weekday get away. We were looking for somewhere classic to eat. We quickly found a mici's. As we entered we were greeted by a young Italian fellow which helped add to the atmosphere he was very polite and quickly led us to the table. We notice how clean and well kept the restaurant was. Our food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! We were that happy with our service we even went back the next day!

I booked a table for 8 people on late Saturday afternoon for a 5 year Old’s birthday meal. The staff were excellent. Friendly, welcoming and helpful. I had a birthday cake I was going to bring to the table but the waiter called out staff from the kitchen and they brought the cake out. They sang happy birthday, brought hats and created a great atmosphere. There was a 2 year old boy with our party and a very helpful member of staff brought over toys and entertained him whilst the parents were eating. The prices are VERY reasonable and I thank the staff for their hospitality.

I visited this restaurant with a friend as we had a discount voucher. My starter was asparagus soup, which was tasty. My friend had Bruschetta which he enjoyed. My main meal was a quattro stagioni pizza which I thought was just average. I didn't really like the base of the pizza but ate it all the same. My friend had chicken and mushroom Risotto which he enjoyed. For dessert I had Sticky sponge pudding with custard and it was lovely. My friend had Tiramasu which he thought was 'out of this world'. The staff were friendly and helpful, so much so that they wore jokey hats and sang Happy Birthday to a child of one of the other customers. Even without the voucher, the prices were reasonable, and my friend suggested we return as it's conveniently situated near Gateshead Metro and bus station.

From the outside it looks like a typical, small high street cafe, but inside it is a very pleasant restaurant, serving a good range of Italian food at very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and competent and the special offers are excellent value for money.

Their food is always well prepared and presented and they always make us feel very welcome. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone from families to couples & groups of friends. The perfect place for work get togethers, too.

We live in Gateshead and have often said 'we must try A mici sometime' so hubby decided to try it for his Birthday meal and we are so pleased he did. We had a lovely evening, staff friendly and attentive without being over the top, the restaurant itself is very nicely decorated and really clean and of course the most important part, the food was excellent, tasty and very good value for money and the bottle of house red was very acceptable, all in all a great experience and we will definitely be back for more, pity there weren't more customers for them, it was very quiet but it was a cold Sunday night. The lovely Italian family that run it deserve to do well

Very good resturant, nice food selection but what really makes it is how friendly the staff are. They've also been really accomodating of our slight weirdness (turning up with 20 furries and a respected scientist for example :P)...

Having eaten here a few times I'm astonished at the couple of negative reviews. I've taken a picture of the outside signage and it's clear to anyone that there are a couple of different offers available to choose from.I'm continually surprised at the quality of the food for the price, it's great value for money for traditional and tasty Italian food. One of our sons is diabetic and the staff at the restaurant are superb at getting us the nutritional information so our boy can eat well and feel normal I was shocked at the one of the reviews racist comments about the non English waitress. The staff at amici are mostly genuine Italian people which means you get a genuine authentic Italian foodie experience, and their language skills were superb last time we were in.In fact their sense of humour is also brilliant.I suggest you go and enjoy the fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere.

We were served with one wrong starter, so we had to wait for replacement, which in all honesty didn't take very long. However, then one of the main courses was not what was ordered, so had to wait a while for the correct main course to be cooked. By the time that came the rest of the party were almost finished their meal. The House white wine was extremely acidic so steer well clear. Overall not a great experience and we won't be back.

To celebrate my Birthday we visited A mici's in Gateshead for a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine. The young waiter was drop dead gorgeous and so very friendly, he worked his socks off to please all his customers. We had a table booked for 2 at 5.30pm and were in time to benefit from the specials menu. I chose a main from the speciality menu and happily paid the £3.00 surcharge. The food was presented beautifully and tasted delicius, the crockery and cutlery was gleamingly clean and the glasses sparkled. We were not hurried and the ambiance was romantic and peaceful with Italian music playing gently in the background. This was my first meal there and it was a very enjoyable experience, especially when we got the bill. 2 x 3-course meals with a bottle of wine and it only cost £29.95. Excellent value for money, I do hope this restaurant stays for a long time in Gateshead.

Dreadful. Biggest waste of £40 ever. Starters: Muscles and Black PuddingMuscles were in a white water and obviously frozen muscles. Black pudding was a lump of black pudding on a side plate. No thought went into presentation or making it look attractive/edible at all. Tasteless.Mains: Pizza and RisottoPizza was burnt badly on the base and my partners risotto was stodgy. They eventually refunded my pizza but I really wouldn't go back. The food was reasonably priced but we waited so long between courses that the drinks drove the bill up. I was really disappointed.

Myself and my auntie visited amici for lunch today! First of all the waiters especially one Spanish girl could not speak English very well so they struggled listening to our order. Our starters then arrived, my aunties brushetta was stone solid, she couldn't even fit her fork through it! Also My potato skins where more liked diced potatoes. The mains then took ages to arrive and when they did my pizza was burnt.Throughout our lunch we continously heard the women owner shouting and arguing with her staff which was really annoying as we could hear her from the kitchen all away from the dining area! I feel quite sorry for the staff having to deal with that! Our ice-cream was fine. There is also false advertising as outside the sign said from £4.95 for a 3 course meal however it was £6.95! We werent happy having to pay £18 for a meal which wasn't worth it! Overall the food was not nice and the service was ok but would advise to hire English staff!

This restaurant is a fantastic little place serving wonderful Italian food that's great value for money. It's owned and run by an Italian family and many of the recipes are to traditional, home made Italian standard. The pizzas and cheesy garlic bread are the best this side of the Tyne and up there in the top 3 for the whole of Tyne and Wear. Carbonara is the real deal, and the lasagne is a three meat affair with beef, pork and lamb. Can't recommend the place enough.

We'd passed by a few times, seeing three courses for £7.99, so when we were in town at lunch time we gave it a go. It was very quiet when we went in, but much busier by the time we left. We were greeted in Italian (and allowed to practise our own language skills) by Il Padrone, served by a shy looking young lady and a charming Portuguese man. The entrees were OK, generous if not particularly exciting (bruschetta for two of us, potato skins for the other) but the mains (for the meal deal it was the non-exotic pastas) were great. Big serves, and really good tomato sauce as the basis for our menu choices. Bread was included, with real butter, and we chose coffee rather than ice cream for dessert. The house wine was very dry but very cheap. We had a terrific time and will definitely go back, to try the a la carte choices next time.
