Wonderful food. Staff very kind and helpful. We live in Biddenden and have to say its one of the best restaurants we have visited. We came last year and we had the same good food and service then.

Myself and my wife booked a table for lunch and opted for the set menu choices which we felt offered good value seemingly. The starters were fine, if not spectacular; my wife opting for chicken liver pâté and myself, the smoked mackerel salad. Well you can’t get these wrong. Under a similar supposition, we both opted for the cod and triple-cooked chips. When the main meals arrived, we were both shocked as to the portion sizes. Neither of us are particularly large eaters, but my goodness, their offering was derisory. The cod on both plates was comprised of two battered cod pieces that could best be described as large goujons and I was also the recipient of SEVEN chips and my wife was the lucky one with eight. At least we had a spoonful of peas to accompany this meagre offering. On challenging what was offered to us, re the value for money, we were told that ‘well it was the set menu, we are a restaurant and not a chip shop and seven chips was an acceptable offering as they were larger, (and blow me), triple cooked. As discerning restaurant-goers, we stuck to our principles, paid for our drinks and starters, sent the main courses back and left. I’m just about to ramp up my Big Green Egg at home to enjoy a spatchcock chicken; after all, we’ve barely eaten all day. You have been warned! My only regret is that I neglected to take a photo of our meals as they had to be seen to be believed! At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!!! 😂

While on holiday in Deal with my son , on our first day we went to 81 Beach Street Restaurant for Lunch and I have to say the food was absolutely lovely. We felt welcome from the moment we walk in, great atmosphere and vibes. Sam is brilliant, very friendly, helpful, attentive and great service. The toilet upstairs is very clean and well presented so as the whole restaurant. We love it so much that we’re going there again for our last night here in Deal. Card only payment .

Absolutely fantastic. Both courses were very tasty and very well cooked. Probably the best meal we have had for ages. Staff were amazing, dealing with a broken heating system yet still managed to cater for all those booked.Amazing!

We booked here for a special birthday lunch for 16 people. We were in the upper room which was a really nice space. The service was attentive and friendly on the day; communication before-hand was excellent, and the food was really good too. I would definitely come here again and would recommend for a celebration.

Fantastic food, good choice on the set menu and prices good. Friendly staff and superb service. This is a restaurant and so does not accept dogs, this is stated clearly on the website, go to a pub if you wish to bring your pet.

Good local restaurant but could do better. Menu a bit limited and drinks from bar very limited. They have what looks like a bar but without the ability to make cocktails so when i asked for a martini they told me that management had not provided a cocktail shaker so I had to have my martini stirred! James Bond would have blanched. Still the staff were very nice

An absolute 5 star experience! 81 Beach Street was our first meal out on our trip to Deal from India, and it absolutely did not disappoint. We loved the food so much, we ate here twice! The food was fresh and tasted great. Honestly such perfect dishes. The ambience was nice and cosy. The servers were so helpful and polite. Cannot wait to be back again. Highly recommend!

This was my second visit for dinner with friends. The top floor booked for our special event. It was nicely decorated with Christmas theme. The staff was so accommodating and kind. I started with Smoked salmon with caperberries, parsley mayonnaise, lemon crème fraiche and confit lemon which was so delicious. It was so obvious that the smoked salmon was good quality, not chewy. For the main meal I went for the Rump steak which was super tender and tasty. The Clementine cheesecake with anise poached clementine and brandy snap was a great end to the evening. We are so lucky to have this lovely restaurant in our town.

Our favourite Restaurant in Deal. Always a friendly welcome, great food, good service & excellent value for money. They recently ran a 2-4-10 offer, although now finished as the Christmas season is upon us. Two for Ten offered two courses for £10 from their special promotional menu. Also offered is the regular menu with a good selection of meals.

Arrived at this friendly, intimate place after a long drive from Hampshire. We were so impressed with the knowledgeable, hands on service and the quality of the food. The sea bass and catch of the day were perfectly cooked. My son's steak was the exact temperature. It was so amazing to have the ability to eat as well as relax after our journey in the more than capable hands of the staff here at 81 Beach Street. Divine!

What a lovely restaurant. The food here is always excellent and this time was not a disappointment. I had the coriander crusted cod which was cooked beautifully. My partner had the Cornish Sole which he claimed was truly excellent. Their range of desserts had us wondering how many of them we could actually order and not look like beasts. We went for the Passion Fruit Creme Brulee and the crumble. They did not disappoint. They have a great selection of wines on offer and it's great that they use so much local produce. We come here often and will definitely be back.

I have been visiting 81 Beach Street since it opened, about 20 years ago and I am still loving it, especially the seasonal menu changes. 81 just has the lot for a meal out in Deal: reliably delicious food, friendly, happy and efficient staff and a buzzy atmosphere. Its always value for money.

What was meant to be a special night out turned out to be very dissapointing. It was plain to see that the only two waiting staff were rushed off their feet and failed to be attentive. Waiting 25 minutes for a simple bread board was hardly the ideal start, I began to have bad vibes. Three of the main starters were missing off the menu and we were told that the chef could offer mini fish fingers and some rocket as a sustitute!!! I think I wanted to laugh. After choosing our meals we waited patiently, I have to admit the food when it came was okay but not amazing as we were led to believe. Hard to believe the restaurant couldn't offer us mayonnaise when requested, 'we've run out' came the reply. Hard to believe that when there's a convenience store round the corner. All in all a very dissapointing evening finishing up with no loo paper in the ladies for my wife and a toilet from the dark ages for the gents. Not once during the meal were we asked if our food was to our liking and neither at the end ere we asked if everything was okay.

We were looking forward to our couples evening last night but left very disappointed with our experience at 81. Immediately told that half the starters were unavailable. We ordered a bread board which took forever to arrive and I had to chase up . The main course - I asked for mayonnaise which was also unavailable. At no point did anyone come to ask us how our meal was . There were 2 members of staff who were too busy to be attentive. The ladies and Gents toilets left a lot to be desired. We won’t be returning.

Lovely evening, delicious food. We both had the crab starter, I had the fresh sea bream, husband had the burger. Friendly staff especially our 18 year old male waiter. 😁

They are currently offering a 2 courses for £10 deal. Starter and main were both very delicious and filling. Accompanied by a couple of glasses of wine. Very good value for money.

Everything you'd hope for in a local restaurant - delicious fresh well-cooked food (creative and modern without being stupid-fancy!), friendly and efficient service and a cosy atmosphere. We had the catch of the day which was sea bream with a nice sweet and sharp pickled vegetable salad, and perfectly cooked steak and chips. Desserts were delicious too. We thought this was really well priced and good value, including an excellent English chardonnay at £39. Maybe we're used to London prices, but this seemed like great value to us. Wish this was our neighbourhood restaurant!

First thing to say is we stay over in Deal regularly. I fished off the pier as a kid, and it is now a beautiful seaside town enjoying a renaissance. The menu at 81 Beach Street read great so we thought - after giving our card details to make the booking - this would be a special place. However, I've had warmer receptions at Police Stations and better atmospheres with Russ Abbott. On the plus side, the service was perfunctory and efficient. Just don't try and chat to the team. The real disappointment was the food. The restaurant could be reported under the Trade Descriptions Act. The "Paella" was no such thing. My half Spanish son would have sent it back if he'd been there. A bowl of yellow slop sitting in a puddle of despair, with chewy rubbery condoms of squid, in a bowl. Paella takes its name from the shallow pan it is cooked in (frying pan). Any liquid should be absorbed by the rice and there should be "socarrat" (scorched rice) on the base. The dish was about as close to Paella as I am to looking like Brad Pitt. A neighbouring table had Swordfish which took a very long time to be served. Possibly because its a bit of a trek to catch a swordfish from Deal Pier. The finale of the night was a guest appearance by Albert Steptoe (who knew) appearing from the kitchen in a white vest and wedgie trousers. But it was Friday 13th. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Just brilliant, food was amazing, as was the service. We had swordfish and seabass, which were both excellent. Thank you.

My mum took me here for a birthday meal, she told me she’d been here many times before and she’d never had a bad meal… She was right! The food was delicious, many menu choices, and my starter and main was better than expected. We were served by Georgia who was pleasant, polite and attentive and is clearly an asset to the restaurant team. Would definitely recommend 🌟

What a find !!! went to Deal for the day decided to have early dinner , we didn't have a booking but Mia our waitress found us a table. We had a crab pate to start but the winner was sea bass on dauphinoise potaoes woth green beans , not only did it come out hot (by the time in some restaurants the food comes out luke warm ) , the fish was fresh & moist , brilliantly cooked, Mia was fabulous very attentive Will definetly be returning , thank you for a superb meal

despite it being a tuesday evening the restaurant was very busy, we were shown to a table upstairs, and looked after all evening by a young man whose name we didn't get , he was a credit to the restaurant, first class service all evening the food was excellent and reasonably priced . i would highly recommend

Our experience was marred by the waitress, who we had patience for, up until she made a rude remark about us to her colleagues for not leaving a tip. We tip good service but with her lack of attention to our table and food it seemed unwarranted. We won’t visit again, but I wouldn’t discourage others who might not mind being ridiculed behind their back.

Really lovely food with some adventurous and interesting options. Lovely paella, enjoyed the Korean pork and the pavlova was to die for. Service unobtrusive but friendly and lovely window seat, wouod definitely come again

We had a lovely dinner at 81 Beach Street. Our server was lovely and the chef ensured I could taste a dessert despite my dietary requirements, which was really kind. We had a really tasty meal and the sea bass was great. We returned for a set menu lunch a couple of days later and the food was great, you had a choice and it was good value for money! Again the service was amazing.

Great visit. We booked for an early evening meal with friends. Staff are great. A good menu, for all tastes. Check the menu on line and book to avoid any disappointment. While there lots of customers turned up at various times. There is an upstairs section. Yes I will recommend this place to friends. It is a special place.

Wonderful place with a great menu. Really appreciated the vegan menu, everyone is covered here. Tried the soup to start, the bhaji burger and aubergine main. All amazing! Tried a few desserts and all were amazing. The staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was great, would definitely recommend.

One of the best restaurants we tried in Deal. Food was exceptional, service very good, and a great atmosphere. The staff were willing to adjust the meals, to suit dietary requirements without a problem. Prices are very reasonable, and there are some good beers available.

Very very good restaurant. You can taste that the food is handmade in the kitchen, with passion. They manage to offer my wife the same food as I ordered, even she's allergic to milk and gluten.

Very mixed feelings about today’s lunch. Very poor selection on the daily menu. We ended up with a starter and dessert each and I’m not a dessert fan! I can’t see why a prawn cocktail needs a supplement and it meant it was £9!!! The mains were only a fish finger with a cheap fish, spaghetti with tomato sauce? How uninspiring. Can’t even remember what the other thing was. If it had been their £10 menu I would have understood more. Sides were extra too so if you wanted to bump up the pasta it would have been extortionate! So disappointing. I do find 81 can be very hit and miss, sometimes nice and sadly others not so good.

Wanted to find somewhere open early afternoon that wasn't afternoon tea, fish & chips or burgers, had a quick look at comparison/review sites and this came up. The food was excellent, the set price meal and options were good value. When my wife asked if parmesan good be removed (lactose intolerance), they not only said yes but suggested a basil dressing in its place. Would definitely go back and would like to try their à la carte and wine offerings.

Bit of a mixed review: the food was excellent - a fresh take on a local dishes. You can feel the love in the prep. We got offered a small "kids present" to keep our 2 kids busy - which was so nice. We came on a night where the restaurant was a bit understaffed and we felt neglected (order taking a long time, having to start cleaning our table, wine arriving after we started on the main dish). Hopefully that will get ironed out as the season progress.

The food was good and the young lad serving was pleasant, unfortunately the shine was taken off our experience because our pre-booked table wasn't ready. We arrived on time, but agreed to go and come back 30mins later, which was fine, however it still wasn't ready when we returned 35mins later. No explanation was given and no real apology.

Very disappointing we’re waiting 40 minutes between each course there was nine of us we were upstairs could’ve put us downstairs as hardly anyone down there also, we decided to take The three course fix lunch, but when it came to the pudding he only brought the main menu, not fix menu and suggested that the puddings would be better, so we had to ask for a fix menu very disappointing and also had the prawn cocktail and they weren’t prawns they were shrimps if they had of been prawns would’ve been worth the £3 surcharge but certainly don’t think they were worth the extra being shrimps

Popped in today for quick lunch. Ended up with 2 courses and glass of wine. Lovely place. Waiter went into kitchen to get answers for my questions re ingredients. Huge thumbs up for that. Must mention the "ladies" facility. I nearly came saway with the stool. To all ladies, if you are caught short, supplies are here. Includ baby changing mat. Well done to all.

The perfect place for a Sunday roast. This was our second visit and cannot recommend highly enough. Fantastic staff, amazing food in the perfect location.

Consistently simple, great food with some thought and imagination behind it. The menu changes seasonally and there is always something for everyone. Service is just at the right level of friendly and professional without be fake and overbearing or distant. Can't fault the place except it can get a bit loud as it's so popular! Will always keep coming back and thoroughly recommend.

This has become our go to restaurant when we are in Deal, booked for Easter Sunday and as ever the team delivered a fantastic dining experience, excellent food, great service and well priced, definitely recommend.

Had the Easter Sunday set menu and thought the food was decent for the price. Starter of tomato, red pepper and lentil soup was delicious and the sourdough tasted as if it was baked that morning. The Sunday roast was nice, but not exceptional. Parsnip, Yorkshire and stuffing standout. Swede mash was not quite right, and the roasties tasted reheated rather than fresh and crispy. Service was really friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Would go back to hopefully try some of their seafood.

Had the set lunch and was delighted at the size of the portions (so often smaller when it's the set meal). Food was delicious and well presented. The staff were smiley and attentive but gave us the space and time for a long awaited catch up.

They saved us a lovely long table upstairs for 9 of us. Lovely beach views. The Menu was small , however very substantial. There was something for everyone.

Our friend selected this restaurant for a birthday celebration and it was spot on!! Lovely ambiance by the sea, where you could enjoy view of the Deal Pier if you chose the bay window seat on the upper floor. The food was delicious and the service well done. I chose the Vegetarian Mezze (yummy parmesan with sweet & sour peppers, fragrant basil oil, Kalimata olives and toasted focaccia). Followed by the Panko Halloumi served with sweet potato wedges, grilled courgettes and surrounded by sweet & sour red pepper & chilli coulis that really adds so much flavour!! We shared the British Cheeseboard for the finale, which had a lovely selection of Brighton blue, Sussex brie, Canterbury Ashmore cheddar, chilli marble cheddar served with grapes, assorted crackers & lovely quince jelly. Such a lovely evening!!!

Once again we enjoyed a delicious lunch here. The menu offers a great choice and there is also a very reasonably priced set menu.

We’ve taken advantage of the lunch offer at 81 Beach Street on a couple of occasions and have been really impressed with the value and quality of the food and service. The variety on the set menu is great. Would like to go back to try the full menu some time! Staff very friendly. And particularly enjoyed being at a table with a view into the kitchen. Nice atmosphere.

Went here for mother's day (4of us) The food was very good however the service was poor. We were put upstairs (table for 4) and were told they needed the table in 2 hours, which you would think would be plenty of time... We were left for too long before being served. I asked for water twice which never turned up. We never had time for desert as they needed the table and the service was far too slow, it's like because we were sat upstairs we were forgotten about. There was also a table of 10 next to us who had a toddler which was very wingey which spoilt our meal with Family. I appreciate the fact that it was mother's day and the restaurant was busy, but we felt neglected being seated upstairs out the way. Maybe more staff needed. Came away feeling very disappointed especially on a special occasion.

We ate here last night for their Steak night offer. It was simply gorgeous. The food was wonderful, chips were astounding!! Staff were so kind and friendly. We found it so cosy and friendly there. We'll be back without doubt.

Such a wonderful intimate restaurant and staff are supper friendly. The best Sunday lunch we’ve had in such a long time. The beef was so tasty with amazing Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. Loved the vegetables on the wooden board and extra gravy. Well worth a visit.

Great food. Good service. Accurate description on the menu. Staff are very friendly, the rooms are very clean and tidy. It was busy down stairs when we went so were seated upstairs, which has a lovely view of the seafront and iconic pier Can get very busy so booking is probably wise.

My partner and I came here for Sunday Roast and it was absolutely amazing! We had the beef and the pork and the sharing platter of veg was lovely!. Absolutely faultless!

I have been here twice with my mum and dad. Both times, they put us right by the kitchen on a table, which is only just big enough for 2, yet alone 3. Last time we asked to move as when they put the 3rd chair there, there is not enough room for staff to get pass. This time, we asked to sit somewhere else. I had already planned what I was going to have as I had looked at the menu on the website. But the menu in the restaurant was different. Most of the starters were different, the fish dish wasn't the same or the vegetables, and the beef said aged rather than 28 day aged as per the website. Also some prices were different. Not very professional, in my opinion. I also wanted a tea, but they only had 1 choice, English breakfast. The food was ok. I wouldn't rush back. Staff were friendly enough. Bit disappointing.

Went for Sunday lunch with 3 other people . Service was very slow .Half a glass of lemonade!! . Food was good . Should of had a steak knife with the beef . Also was over charged by £30 .Good job one of us noticed .. Was refunded when told of mistake. I don't understand the hype about this restaurant.

OMG! The food was to die for! Compliments indeed to The Chef... Everything perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and all separate dishes delivered to our table at same time. Herb crusted Salmon, with Wine and Caper sauce was the best ever! Staff very attentive, nothing too much trouble. Definitely recommend..
