Food very nice, unfortunately prices have gone up, it's quite expensive, portions have got smaller too.

The food was authentic Chinese food but the flavour of the food was different to what I came across few years ago it wasn’t as great as before, maybe the chef has changed and after I finished eating for some reason my mouth felt dry no matter how much water I drank, possibly they put to much MSG in the food. It was a shame that they didn’t taste as good as before.

吃个饭花了钱还挺闹心，穿一身黑扎马尾的女服务员态度太差，拉拉个脸好像客人欠她一百万似的，餐具丢下来扭脸就走，不会抬眼看人也不会说句话，客人来你家吃饭欠你的了？？？ 这死两下子结账的时候还好意思问我们要服务费，你提供什么服务了请问？把谁当冤大头呢你？那个中年男是老板还是经理，暂且称他是经理，二话不说上来吹胡子瞪眼的，咬牙切齿要求我们必须付服务费。 Ok 所有华人请听好，英国法律规定，顾客对服务不满意的时候有权拒绝付服务费，这个经理声称他在英国待了二十年，却连这个都不知道？？ 你黑过来的？ 扯什么犊子 当你拒绝付服务费的时候他可能会跟你说这是规定，别信他😅他是在张嘴说瞎话😅如果他继续胡扯的话请直接报警吧，check it with policeman.

Brilliant food, but beware the portions are very generous!

We were tempted in to this restaurant due to it being packed and clearly popular with the local Chinese community. To be fair the food was good but the hygiene standards, in particular the restrooms was shocking! The service was also slightly dubious but this may have been lost in translation!

Service was good. As for food, we had pigs ears, deep fried ribs, cauliflower hearts, and rice. The pigs ears were sliced very thick and really tough. The ribs were also really tough, bordering on inedible. The cauliflower hearts were nice. The rice had been cooked for so long that the texture was all mushy. We hardly had any of the ribs and pigs ears but packed it up to take home just in case we can salvage the dishes in any way. Also the toilets looked as though they had not been cleaned in a while.

Best Chinese food I've ever had outside China (I lived in China for 5 years). You must be proactive to place your order and get the bill in the end. But if you care about food and only food then that's THE place. Very recommended by a westerner who knows something about China!

仕事でケンブリッジに来ていたら中国の取引先の方と偶然会い、招待していただきました。店内は小綺麗で、中国語を話す方がたくさん食事されてました。7人グループで7皿くらい大皿を頼みました。おいしいし、雰囲気もいいし、次回ケンブリッジに来るときも利用したいです。

This was my second visit and it was just as good as the first. The crispy aubergine stuffed with prawns were a highlight and super delicious alongside the crispy lamb ribs with chilli and back beans. Great hospitality and delicious food.

This has to be some of the best and most authentic food I've had in Britain outside of China. A delicious evening and we'll worth a visit.

We went to the Chinese restaurant called “72 China” at around 8 pm on 20th Aug. 2023. But unfortunately, we had to experience discrimination by the staff. We ordered a dish named “squirrel fish” but the fish was definitely not fresh at all. It had a very strong fishy taste and smell despite being deep fried and covered in strong seasoning and sauce. As a result, we told them that the fish tasted off and not fresh. The staff took away our dish and told us that it was our problem and not theirs. We were in disbelief at how they treated us after we made a complaint, and when we tried to reason with them, they refused to listen to us. They tried to talk over us and intimidate us when we told them that their fish was bad. They were unapologetic, rude and loud. They tried to intimidate us as they were 2 guys and we were 3 girls (me, my girlfriend, and my friend). They tried to scare us off by talking very loud and over us. They said all the fish tasted like this and then said it tasted bad only because it was cold. Even though we told them we had this dish before in this restaurant and we tasted it as soon as it arrived. They should have a CCTV which can prove we tried the dish as soon as it arrived. They refused any sort of negotiation and kept using different excuses until we said this could be settled by the police. We believe we were discriminated against by this restaurant, as when we checked the online reviews afterwards there were other Chinese that reported similar problems and behaviours from the staff of this restaurant. It’s the first time for our family here but definitely not the last. We family enjoyed the food here as they served authentic Chinese. If anyone like to know what is the real Chinese food and this is the one. Have read the other comments and I would laugh someone’s low rating. I can see the staffs worked really hard because it’s a very very busy restaurant. The queue is long and people have great patience for the place they can have the home feel taste. This is the best proof and it’s enough. I can’t say this is the best Chinese restaurant but they are doing their best. You have my respect and support! Thank you to 72. China!

My partner and I went to visit Cambridge, and we wanted to eat Chinese. We randomed to pick the restaurant and we went to this one. It was very good decision, the staff are very nice, friendly. The asmosphere is fine. In addition, the food are very perfect, tasty, fresh, and worth for the value. If we have a chance to go to Cambridge again, we will go visit this restaurant again for sure. Highly recommend!! P.S. We ordered beef stew with mushroom, roasted duck and sweet bun (I can't remember the name of it exactly)

Food was barely warm, the egg fried rice was dripping in oil and not properly fried, black pepper beef was completely over cooked, tofu was a bit sour. Would not recommend if you’re looking for decent chinese food.

This is a Sichuan restaurant located in Cambridge. A very popular restaurant with a nice Chinese theme set up. The restaurant serves a wide selection of spicy Sichuan food. Their Pouched Chicken in Sichuan Spicy Sauce and the Fragrant Pot (香锅) are good. Service is reasonable but during peak hours, the waiting time may be slightly longer. Cleanliness is acceptable. Prices are reasonable. Cash and cards are accepted. There are a number of steps within the restaurant. Handicapped patrons on wheelchairs will have difficulties patronising this restaurant. 25-07+2023 ; Restaurant operating without any Covid-19 restrictions. Crowd is back to normal. Prices had inevitably increased but still competitive. Their Double Cooked Sliced Pork and Pouched Chicken in Sichuan Spicy Sauce are good. Both are recommended.

Authentic Chinese sechwan food, tasty and good value. Just like being in old town in China, nice Chinese lamps and shades and pictures. Friendly owner on hand and English spoken well. Enjoy

非常惊喜的一餐！本想去隔壁号称剑桥市长也去的中餐厅，说接待团餐，瞬间就没了兴趣。过来点了尖椒炒豆干、小米椒炒鸡胗，大大的惊喜！豆干处理得非常棒，口感脆、滑、嫩，太太对鸡胗也是赞不绝口，有儿时的味道，极其地道。个人觉得今天二个菜放在国内也是很高水准的菜肴！

I've never had Chinese food in China, but I'm pretty sure that this is as close as you can get in Cambridge. @72 makes zero effort to adapt to the British palate, and that's what makes it great. The food is up there with anywhere else in Cambridge and the prices are very reasonable. If you aren't used to Chinese food, go with an open mind and you will enjoy it.

Food was okay. Very heavy flavours for veg dish. Waiters were good and helpful.

So many Chinese restaurants to choose from...we chose this one on a whim. Loved it, one of the best I've ever had. Mapo tofu was on point, chicken and mushroom dumplings were so good. Staff was very friendly, prices were reasonable. Ill go again.

Okay ish food at rather high prices

Great food and excellent location. The family run restaurant has a good vibe and the dishes are tasty without being greasy or heavy. Genuine pu'er tea and the best wanton soup I have had anywhere in the world. Be aware that you need to be specific to the menu. The young waitress who served my food was not fluent in writing mandarin and had to copy from the menu to communicate the orders to the kitchen staff. Therefore, be sure to indicate the exact dish you want on the menu and if there is a specific dietary requirement, make that explicit.

I was there last week and I was disappointed by the food I oredred, I am a regular customer to this restaurant for almost 6 years now but last time I visited really didn't like the foods at all and I think the owner change the chefs because we were waiting for almost an hour for our food to be ready ( normally foods took 15/20 minutes to be ready ) . We order Crispy Aromatic Duck and Vegetable Springs rolls and 2 Checken black Ben Sause and 2 rice , the foods delivered randomly and not in order at all , the Duck was looking old and taste different, the Spring onions were ok , the chicken black Ben sauce were taste different and the Egg fried rice were disgusting. I hope the owner will change the chefs or bring the previous one but if he will continue like that he will lose a lot of customers.

Authentic Chinese cuisine. The portion is quite large so I recommend going with friends. The food came fast and they were tasty!

This is a rough and ready Chinese food joint. We come here now and again to get authentic Chinese food. Don’t expect polished service, you have to overlook the rough edges but the food is great. Try to come early, around 6- 6.30 and your fellow diners will be mainly Asian- a good sign that the food is the real deal. Dish highlights are the salt and pepper squid, spinach in peanuts and vinegar and the fish in boiling oil with Szechuan pepper and chilli.

Genuine Chinese cuisine and a great place to visit in Cambridge. Don’t go without trying the fish in hot chilli oil - it’s fantastic! Handy menu with pics so you can see exactly what’s what. Have been several times and really recommend.

Delicious hotpot with many items available for the hotpot, just a bit pricey. All the other dishes coming out of the kitchen looked good as well

Such a great authentic Chinese place. I can see why non-Chinese people would struggle ordering here as the waiters are all Chinese and speak limited English, but I as a Chinese person find this place very authentic and highly recommend. Have come here many times and the food every time is delicious with large portions.

The service was slow and food arrived in wrong order and long gaps between each individual meals. No clear the table. Ask for a itemised bill so we cound divide it we receive one in Chinese. Additional non order was put on table. In summary Service not worth the 10% Additional service charge put bill.

Terrible service all round Unapologetic poor service, clearly uninterested in whether our meal was going ok. Long wait for any food, then our rice and half of our main courses arrived with our starters so that our food was cold by the time we were eating it. When we finished, cold food and dishes left on table, no attempt to clear. No interest in whether we wanted anything extra, any additional drinks etc. To top it all, had the cheek to add a service charge to already steep prices.

Manager had a bad attitude which made the dining experience very uncomfortable.

Ate here as part of an eight person group, at the recommendation of a member of the group who originates from Wuhan that considered this restaurant to be highly regarded by the Chinese community for authentic Chinese dishes. I had also heard great recommendations previously. To me, alarm bells were ringing when we were shown into the basement to be seated in a small room with a round table, adjacent to their toilets, stock room and cleaning cupboards. Service was particularly dire, it was clear nobody gave a hoot about the actual experience of the customer, but friends assured me that often, the worse a service is, the greater the restaurant and that uncaring, blunt and boring service is instilled into the culture. The food, however, was magnificent (when it did finally arrive). It had taken a while for them to prepare but each person did order a dish with another added to the equation so there was much for the restaurant to cope with, and the food was incredible. There was a mixture of excessively spicy dishes and delectable sweet and sour dishes with each cooked to tasty perfection, whether it was the battered/fried sweet and sour fish, or the simplistic veggies, it was all delicious and has redeemed what otherwise appears to be a somewhat rundown and dismissive restaurant when it comes to their upkeep, cleanliness and their customer care.

Amazing food and great service!

太无语了，信心满满去72栈吃饭，点好菜等了四十多分钟菜也不上。问老板娘什么情况，老板娘头也不会地敷衍“马上”。结果又等了半个小时，问另外一个服务员姐姐什么时候上菜，对方告诉我们至少再等半个小时。如果菜上的很慢可以提前告知吗？至少可以真诚的告诉我们实际情况吗？再也不来了，太恶心了！饿到胃疼，好痛苦。

Wait time for our order was insanely long. Who the hell on earth cooks a spicy hot pot for an entire hour?

After 40 minutes of waiting we finically have received dishes, which do not look even close to the pictures in the menu. The 14 pounds “duck” dish looked like some leftovers of leftovers and did not have more than 70 grams of duck. I strongly discourage you to go here.

真的难吃到爆炸，吃完肚子就不舒服，还硬收服务费，点完菜五分钟就上了，估计也就是预制菜，冷不冷热不热的，服务态度还差。就这还明星餐厅，我真的想笑。

We had a spicy fish dish, it was really good.

Amazing sichuan food, much better than sichuan / hunan food in Hong Kong of the same price level. Service is good. There are non-spicy dishes for children or friends that couldn't take even a bit of spicy food. The quality of the non-spicy dishes are also quite well. Unlike many sichuan restaurant in Hong Kong and the mainland China which simply mixing chilli and meat / vegetable that are not fresh with a lot of MSG, their spicy dishes are fresh that you could tell the taste of the ingredients. The spiciness of a decent sichuan food should not be too strong and overwhelm the original flavours of meat / vegetable. I recommend: cold dish: Fuqi feipian(Sliced Beef and Ox Tongue in Chilli Sauce). The sauce and the sliced bamboo are so great. Hot dish: Spicy roasted fish in pickled pepper style.

Very busy place for lunch and I think they are also very busy for deliveries. Great service and excellent host and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. I think this is very close to like home cooked Chinese food. Very good dumplings and amazing black bean chicken. Soup was very authentic Chinese flavour. Great place for Chinese.

This is our second visit this month. Clean and friendly environment. The food are all great, I especially like water melon pork soup and beer duck.

So this is a VERY good Chinese restaurant. Having lived in Asia I know. In fact for what it represents, it is the best authentic restaurant in Cambridge that I've been to. Service quick, smooth & attentive. Large varied, if not exciting Chinese menu, being particularly strong in Sichuan (spicy) food. Rice quantities however poor I thought (Probably because we weren't Chinese) This was not good enough. Restrooms poor. But survivalable. I recommend this restaurant.

Flank beef was very good but the SnS Ribs wasn't that good felt and tasted if the ribs were reheated and not fresh, portion wise it was small for the price of £40+.

Slow service and clueless staff

I couldn’t imagine how dumb is the chef of this restaurant, none of food is fresh and trolling waiter, unbelievable messy toilet,fish is stinky and potatoes taste just like flour , just go to other restaurants, shame of Chinese restaurants 🙏🙏

I tried mapo tofu, and beef noodles in spicy broth. Great location at the downing street, so I drop by for lunch. I really like the welcoming vibes of the staff. When I took a vegan friend to the restaurant, they accommodated our request and provided vegetarian version of mabpo tofu. It's not super cheap (12 pound per dish including service charge) but affordable. I like it

Food is decent but I have to mention that it is ridiculous that they only take orders via one application and not even by a phone call. Would have been fine if this application wasnt all in Chinese. There is no way that a non-Chinese speaker can navigate through this app. How is this a thing? Update 25/05. Tried to order via Deliveroo. Despite it being said that we could order it, we got a cancellation 10 minutes later. Very unprofessional.

The portions are adequate and the food was hot and tasty.Slightly expensive. 4 small bowls of egg fried rice, 1x chicken sweet and sour, 1x beef and noodles, 1x prawn sweet and sour, 1x prawn crackers and jasmine tea for £78. Service good, atmosphere good and not a scrap left!

Excellent quality food, recommended by the locals! I would try the all you can eat hot pot which is very affordable and warms you up on a cold winters day!

72 China specializes in Sichuanese and Cantonese cuisine. I prefer spicy food, so I've not had much of the Cantonese selection, but I've tried most of the classic Sichuan dishes here.This place does the best Chinese food I've ever had -- which makes it the best Chinese food in Cambridge, and better than the Sichuanese restaurants I've explored in London and Hong Kong. I've never been to Sichuan so I can't comment on the authenticity of the dishes confidently, but my impression is that they are all pretty darn authentic.The manager is very friendly, always remembers my typical orders and asks me how spicy I'd like it on a particular day. Most of the waitstaff are typical Chinese restaurant staff but perfectly fine -- typically not as much artificial friendliness as people may expect from Western restaurants, but I've never experienced any rudeness from any of them.The dishes are often moderately spicy as standard, although you can order a different spiciness level if you want. You might need to go a couple of times to convince them you're serious, but they can do amazingly spicy food if you request it. This is the only Chinese restaurant I've been to in my life where I've barely been able to finish a meal (of course, only on the rare self-imposed occasions when I ask for extreme spicy).If you like Chinese food and you like spicy food, 72 China should be #1 on your list to check out in Cambridge. If you don't like spicy food, I can't really speak for you, but even my friends with non-spicy tastebuds recommend here.

The food at @72 China is nice, tasty, and fresh. The service is not always spot-on, so I definitely wouldn't recommend them to someone just willing to grab a quick bite.

建议男老板跪下来为外国人上菜，骨子里的JIAN令人作呕。建议去吃的中国人进去后先看看周围有没有外国客人，如果有的话，相信我，你将会受到“一小时上一个菜并且叫老板过来 老板连正眼都不会给你”的极致服务，并且你还需要为这恶心的服务给钱哦。 说实话有这钱宁愿给homeless都还能收到一句感谢呢。我们来吃过很多次，也和身边人推荐过这家，但是现在不断涨价 菜也在变少，这都算了。就这个服务态度，谁去谁就会变的不幸 GOOD LUCK

Good food quality. The dumplings 🥟 are delicious. However, some of the dishes were too spicy 🥵 for me to eat. The sour white fish noodles 🍜 had lots of green chillies and all my mouth (and stomach afterwards) was in pain, even though I ended up eating only the fish. It would be nice if the menu had some indication of how spicy the dishes are. On the other hand, the menu is full of pictures, so it’s easy to figure out what each this is. The English can be very weird at times (check attached photo of “desort” 😅). The service could be a bit better. We had to insist several times until we got some tap water. If you like spicy food, you’ll probably love everything. Next time I think I’ll stick to dumplings 😅🥵🌶

Came in there, the place is crowded and not enough chairs for everyone. Ordered a love tea and they forgot about it completely, then after 20 minutes I got a latte for £3.50.

By far the worst deliveroo experience I’ve had since I’ve started with deliveroo 3-4 years ago! I ordered four dishes from the restaurant, and it was delivered 50 minutes after the original delivery time! One dish had way too much ginger in it, and the other was dry with way too many peppercorns throughout! The driver showed up down the street from my house and called to have me collect the order from the Driver's side window! NEVER AGAIN!! The food was lukewarm at best when I plated it. Spend your money elsewhere because this isn't the restaurant for it!

One of the better Chinese restaurants on Regent St. Good bubble tea.

Restaurant has changed into a tourist trap AVOID.We used to frequent the restaurant prior to COVID and were generally happy with the experienceSince Covid however they have hiked prices by circa 15% (which compounds with the 10% service charge)Portions have been reduced by circa 33% especially where meat is concerned.I left the restaurant hungry having eaten my main.Not surprisingly the restaurant is now dead and lacks ambiance and atmosphere (regulars already got the memo since reopening I feel).Truly a terrible experience. Such a shame as it was a nice restaurant.

Authentic Chinese food around Cambridge. Quite a good portion for its price and taste good too.

We had hot pot, we got a soup and there is unlimited buffet what you can do in it. It was really good, not as good in Asia, but almost there. The price is quite high, but if you eat a lot it is worth it. I will return one day.

This is absolutely the worst Chinese restaurant in Cambridge (probably the worst in the world）. I strongly advise you not to go unless you want to be treated like a pariah. Horrible service, ignorant and aggressive owner, deserve to be bankrupted by the pandemic. Zero sympathy. 之前看评论就知道这家店的人都是吃了炸药的，怪我还尝试了一次：我担保“气死尔栈”绝对是剑桥、英国乃至欧洲吃过最差的中餐厅，没有之一，真的是无与伦比的烂。需要你不断安慰、照顾店员的情绪，稍有不当就会受到极不耐烦的呵责，真是莫名其妙，那个像皇太子一样的男的你怎么不住在故宫里当大爷，而要来这异国他乡开餐厅？拉入黑名单，就当为滞留英国的难民捐了点钱了

Consistently great food, very good and prompt service. We visit often and it's also family friendly.

Awesome place, better than the ratings suggest. ORder off the Sichuan food menu, that's where the gems are!

We have been regular visitors since this place opened, because their sechuan selection is great, plus because they don't close in the afternoon like make other places do after lunch hour and before dinner. And, because it's 2020, they are one of the few places who strictly adhere to the 2m distancing between tables.

Fantastic Chinese Restaurant. Lots of spicy food. Recommend the fish and ma po Dou fu
