This is a brilliant little coffee shop with amazing coffee and great little eats well the sandwiches on thick Italian bread are a delight and a yummy selection of sweet treats also awaits. The bread sold there chewy brown soda bread is delicious especially toasted. The staff and the owner are lovely. Fantastic customer service and rewards card for revisiting. We drive quite a long way just to go to this coffee shop. Introduced by our Sonny. So glad he did. Keep it up guys.

Being ‘coffee snobs’ according to friends, we were pleased to chance upon this little gem. Good for takeaways and small area of seating where the friendly staff will do their magic!

By far the best speciality coffee shop in Hove. I have the pleasure of speaking to the staff every morning and they always brighten up my day! It's not often you can order an espresso... And it ACTUALLY taste how it should! Brilliant coffee shop, would highly recommend!

Takeaway coffee being the only treat we are allowed at the moment, we are always pleased to find a new place to try, so gave 44 Poets a go on Sunday. We had one single espresso and one Cappuccino, and they were both very bitter. Plus they were both tiny (yes, I KNOW espresso is small but this was absolutely tiny) and cost us £5.10, which is more than central Brighton. Staff not particularly friendly either. It has lots of good reviews so maybe we just caught it at a bad time?

When you ask: "Could I please have a small strong black coffee, please..." This is what I received. With minimum wait time! These guys are on it, and their coffee is really, REALLY nice and special! I work hard, and sometimes I forget to take my own flask of coffee. Thank you for easy-to-grab beautiful coffee! Not sure if you sell organic, but that would be a bonus.

Love these guys, been going since they started a couple of years ago - meant to write this a long time ago!! In my opinion, nothing else really comes close for coffee in the area, despite the numerous options. All the staff are great, they use the excellent Square Mile coffee beans and they weigh the coffee each time, so they guarantee a consistently excellent flat white every time - I’ve never been disappointed and I’ve bought many coffees from them! During the pandemic they adapted, delivering beans for a while (was pretty much essential in Lockdown 1.0!) and now offering coffee from the front window. It’s only a little place, but hopefully they’ll get to offer seating inside again at some point as there’s a really nice atmosphere and consistently great music too. Can’t recommend this place highly enough! Picture is from Feb 2020, one of the last times we could sit in pre-pandemic!

A delightful small coffee shop selling delicious coffee, simple pastries and beans to take home. With flower pot, costa, and hove patisserie nearby to name just 3, this is the absolute stand out coffee shop in the area. Keep them alive and give them a visit!

Discovered this little gem on my way out of Hove. The staff were friendly and full of recommendations for a person who’s not a self proclaimed coffee connoisseur. Would 100% recommend a visit for anyone local or visiting Hove. Thanks for brightening my day in this drizzly weather 44 poets.

Since unexpectedly visiting this coffee shop for the first time almost two years ago, it has quickly become my favorite across all of Brighton and Hove. The staff are all very friendly and professional, and the owner is clearly very passionate and knowledgeable about the best coffee available. This dedication shows! Whenever I am in the area, I always make a special point of visiting and trying something new, as their coffee and pastry selection is delicious, and never disappoints. I highly recommend anyone in the area or simply passing through, to give this coffee shop a try.

Best coffee in Hove! Delightful, dependable, discreet staff. Perfect to meet a friend or my teenage sons, network for business, crunch some numbers, doors are thrown open in summer, cosy in winter. A best kept secret 😉

Fantastic, independent coffee shop in West Hove. Just off the beaten track of Portland Road and a much more pleasant alternative to Costa! They seem to really care about their coffee which is consistently excellent.

My boyfriend and I go here every weekend: he is super into good coffee and they never fail! Even though I'm not a coffee drinker they have so many other options, and are one of the few coffee places that offer matcha, and know how to serve it properly!! Always such a great atmosphere, lovely food, and amazing staff! Definitely our favourite coffee shop!

My new coffee place if I'm in the Hove area! They know their coffee and are happy to talk through (if you want to know). When the sun is out they have a lovely outside area that should be taken advantage of.Offer a nice selection of sweet treats, savouries etc.Highly recommend their cortado!

I'd wanted to try this coffee shop after hearing great reviews. The coffee was very good and i loved the shop with some outside seating. BUT was bitterly disappointed with the customer service and the lack of welcome. We tried to engage in a conversation with the person serving us but was met with just a blank expression. I took a reward card which was on the side but we all agreed that sadly we won't be returning as part of the coffee experience is not just the coffee!!

I came across this place in August & returned a second time within a week. It is situated about five minutes walk south of Aldrington Rly Station at 44 Rutland Road on the corner with Montgomery Road in the western part of Hove in Sussex, not far from the Ancient Mariner Pub.

Officially the best tasting coffee I've ever had (my partner went for a cappuccino and I had an oat latte) - crafted to perfection with their superb expertise about how coffee *should* be made. Got the feeling these guys really cared not only about the customer experience, but the taste of every drink, too.

Coffee was really nice and the attention to detail was amazing. Was really impressed by the vegan selection (both sweet and savoury) and to have Bonsoy which is a really expensive non-dairy milk for just 20p extra in a latte was really good. You'd never know this place was off the main road - such a nice addition to the community.

This is a small and intimate coffee shop in Poets Corner. Coffee is great can’t comment on the food. They offer pastries and chocolate snacks which I’m sure will be nice. It’s not cheap but it’s a nice place to meet and catch up (if you can get a seat) there is limited capacity - which is also part of it’s charm.

The coffee was great and the guys working there were really knowledgeable. I asked about where the coffee was from and they spent some time explaining the journey from origin to cup and didn't realise there was so much to it. there was no bitterness and obviously great thought had been put into the cups and surroundings. Great to see independents pushing forwards and leaving the chains behind in terms of quality and service.

I stumbled upon this charming cafe by mistake last week after dropping the kids off at school. I usually visit nearby Costa for my morning caffeine fix, which inevitably disappoints, so I was very happy to discover a new, independent coffee shop open just around the corner.

I went to this coffee shop today, for the first time. I'll be back. The coffee is excellent, in fact, it's the best coffee in town in my opinion. The place is also spotlessly clean. I recommend this coffee shop. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I popped in last week to see what all the hype was about, and I was not disappointed. Specialty coffee with this sort of attention to detail is otherwise non-existent outside of central Brighton and the trendier areas of London, or at least very difficult to find.

Easily my favourite bar ever. JYD is a diamond in the rough. Exuding effortless cool they host stunning music, performance, serve great food and have an amazingly friendly, cosy environment. There is always something amazing happening there, be it art exhibitions, crazy game nights, comedy, music, spoken word and so much more. The staff are knowledgable, helpful and superbly cool. Reminds me of a time before corporate consistency and money ruined all character and charm. The coolest place to meet or chill at any time of day.
